I have a question Im sorry it isnt related to FT except in the sense that is what i am playing but what was the way to change pre ofb gates?

http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?p=1332487#post1332487

Open the gate package in SimPE. Click on Object Data under the Resource Tree (make sure you're in Plugin view tab). Of the Object Data listed in the box on the right, click on the one with the shortest name. Then, click on the Raw Data tab. Select "decimal" of the options on top of the Raw Data screen, and look for a line called "Interaction Table ID". For a pre-OFB gate, the value is probably -1. Change the value to 4, then click Commit and save the package. Now the gate should have the locking interaction in the game.
654  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Seeking a learned opinion... on: 2008 March 07, 03:49:14
I'd second patching, as El Presidente himself approved of it.

The official patches are expected, except where specifically proscribed. No patch presently has the status of FUBAR at the moment. If you deliberately choose not to patch for some reason, you may have to consult the Scrapyard for fixes rendered obsolete by the patch.

There were two Pets patches. The first one was FUBAR, the one that came afterwards worked better, IIRC.

The fucked-up first Pets patch is now gone, so that issue is moot.
655  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Updating CC for FT on: 2008 March 07, 01:50:20
I've found that I can update pianos and easels to give proper enthusiasm by replacing the BCONs and BHAVs (there are probably specific ones that need to be added to older packages but I'm lazy so I just deleted and replaced all of them), but the same method does not work for pool tables. Anybody have any thoughts on what else on pool tables need to be updated? I only have a couple of them so I think I may just pull the meshes and remake them but bleh.

Have you tried replacing Object Functions, Slot File and Text Lists?
656  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Updating CC for FT on: 2008 March 07, 01:29:45
There is a simpler way to update computer. Like bookcase, just changing the Object Data is enough in FT. No need to extract and replace pie menu.

Object Data > RAW Data > Select Decimal > 07. Resource cross-refs > Interaction Table ID 128 -> 129. Commit and save.

Edit: Forgot the step of changing hex to decimal, sorry.

Edit: There is an additional step to make custom computers fully compatible with Uni.

As for TV, you must replace Pie Menu (TTAB, TTAs) and Slot File (SLOT). Without replacing SLOT, pets can't watch TV to gain fun.
To extract resources, you must select the correct type of TV on which your custom TV is based.

For the 1-tiled floor TV, there is an additional BHAV added by later EP. I'm not sure what it does, but I extracted and added it just in case. Don't forget to change the Group to 0xFFFFFFFF.
657  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Get Holy Simoly bedding to work with all beds? on: 2008 March 06, 15:09:52
I modified Elwood bed and Sendai bed so that they use all beddings, instead of only their own beddings.
Elwood and Sendai beddings are now linked to Maxis Colonial bed, so that they work on all beds.

Beds were updated to Pets, so they won't work for pre-Pets game.

658  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bork List: Freetime Ed. on: 2008 March 05, 16:17:20
Don't know if this has been mentioned or not...but on my lots with their own cars... each time a sim leaves or comes home from work/school I get pretty much a stoppage of time or freeze for about 10-15 seconds which really annoys me

I have the exactly same problem. This happens even in the vanilla game, so it's definitely EAxian issue. It's driving me nuts!
659  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Updating CC for FT on: 2008 March 03, 13:00:01
At least in my experience, TV's don't need to be updated. Once you select "watch," you'll have the option to get a movie and appropriate enthusiasm is gained from watching. The menus just aren't identical to non-CC TV's, but all the functions seem to be there eventually.

But without updating pie menu, you cannot Tinker TV to gain Mechanical enthusiasm. At least it was that way for Teen TV that EAxis forgot to update.
660  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Updating CC for FT on: 2008 March 02, 13:30:49
Wow. That's a pleasant surprise. Thank you very much for the information. Cheesy
Reminds me of pre-OFB gates, which can be updated in similar fashion.

To run a bookstore using pre-OFB bookcases, I believe that other resources still need to be updated.
661  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Updating CC for FT on: 2008 March 02, 07:29:10
I didn't try to update my CCs yet, but updating TTAB and TTAs alone might not be enough for bookcase. To sell the books off pre-OFB custom bookcases, you had to add a new BCON, replace BHAV, TTAB, TTAs and OBJf. I wouldn't be surprised if FT requires more tweaking than OFB.

As this thread is now 5 pages long, and informations are scattered all over the entire thread, I edited this post to include quick links to the posts with instructions and required attachments for various type of custom objects. I'll edit this post whenever new information is added.

There is a new similar thread for AL.

How to use "Updated Resources" file

Open your custom object in SimPE. Sometimes you only have to edit one value in OBJD, but in most cases you have to replace pie menus (TTAB and TTAs), replace/add other resources like BHAV, BCON, OBJf, SLOT, STR#.

Download "updated resources" file attached in the post. Resources are grouped by folder. For TTAB and TTAs, there is only one resource for each, so there will be no room for confusion. If there are multiple resources in one folder, you can find the correct resource by the last group of numbers in their filenames.

Take a look at one of the BHAV files, for example.

42484156-00000000-FFFFFFFF-0000100C.simpe

The boldened part indicates the Instance number. Select Behaviour Function (BHAV) in the Resource Tree, find and replace the matching resource with the same instance number in the Resource List window. If you select the "Instance" tab in the Resource List window, you can sort resources by the instance number.
If there is no matching resource with the same instance number, right-click on Resource List window to add them.
662  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is it possible to override Overrides.package? on: 2008 February 29, 10:45:08
I managed to override it after some trial and error.

I tried to update my bed motive fix for Teen Goth Bed to FreeTime. This fix contains overrides for OBJD and BCON entries. For some unknown reason, 3rd party overrides for OBJD work only in Downloads folder, whereas overrides for anything else work only in Overrides folder. Meaning that I had to split the fix into two parts, one for Overrides folder and the other for Downloads folder. (Gah!)

I don't know why it didn't work the first time around. Might be something like wonky file lock-up. After reboot, I was able to make an external override package, albeit in a very complicated way.

Sooo... they update TSS things, but leave out FFS and GLS?

Only if you can count such a lame half-assed job as "update". Teen TV doesn't have "Tinker" option. Teen Vanity and Teen TV have annoying mouseover tooltips in Live Mode, which can be found only in some very old custom objects. I'd rather trust various modders to update SP objects than counting on EAxian sloppiness. I'm working on a quick fix for this stupidity. Fix is now available at MTS2.

AFAIR FFS objects were already updated by Pets. GLS objects were updated by jfade. I have a couple of similar mod in MTS2. Check out my sig.
663  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is it ok to install Glamor stuff pack after all six EPs? on: 2008 February 28, 21:53:07
If you're using NoCD crack to avoid Securom crap, you may have to restore original exe before you install a SP. Sometimes SP installers check if your EP is patched to the latest version. It may throw errors if it detects NoCD. When the SP installation is completed, apply NoCD again.
664  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Solved (sort of): Is it possible to override Overrides.package? on: 2008 February 27, 17:18:53
EAxis included several Teen Style Stuff objects in FreeTime's Overrides.package file, so that new FT functions are enabled for TSS objects. (Like computer and boombox, which they ignored for BV). Unfortunately, EAxis made a half-assed job out of it again, this time forgetting OFB shelf value of computer.

My question is, is it possible to make a separate package that overrides Overrides.package? I'd rather not alter original game file if possible. It seems that Overrides folder takes absolute precedence over any other location. I made a separate fix with a filename starting in z, so that the fix loads after Overrides.package. Doesn't work. I moved the file to the Downloads folder. Doesn't work either. Even though I put the fix that contains OBJd in Downloads folder, the computer didn't show custom star in thumbnail.

Besides computer, FT Overrides also contains TSS Goth double bed. Short of editing game file itself, I can't raise comfort and energy anymore.

666  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Ho do I change the price of a downloaded object?? on: 2008 February 17, 02:29:45
I use jfade's Pets Custom Content Updater to identify mesh files in a folder. Select a folder and hit "Pick Selected Directory". It will list all mesh files in that folder.
667  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Ho do I change the price of a downloaded object?? on: 2008 February 16, 20:15:14
The file you opened up in SimPE looks like a recolor file, not a mesh file. Recolor files don't have OBJD.
668  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Wedding Arches Bug? on: 2008 February 14, 22:38:11
Cooked up a quick fix in here.

I wasn't aware of this bug, as I always throw wedding parties at home.

How very typical of EAxis. They don't give a damn about updating stuff pack objects. They updated FFS objects for Pets. Why can't they do the same for other SPs? Angry

EAxis finally broke the bug in collection file, which in fact is a very useful feature that enables community-only objects to be placed in home lot, (like restaurant podiums or clothing racks), and vice versa. Instead of killing a useful feature, they could have fixed any other gazillion bugs.
669  Darcyland / Lord Darcy Investigates / Community Wedding Fix for Celebration Wedding Arch (Obsolete in AL/M&G) on: 2008 February 14, 22:23:48

At long last, EAxis enabled community wedding in BV, but failed to extend the new feature to the Celebration wedding arch. As stated in this thread, you cannot buy Celebration wedding arch in community lot anymore (because EAxis finally "fixed" the so-called "bug" in collection files that enabled community-only objects to be placed in residential lots, THANK YOU EAXIS), and "Get Married" menu doesn't come up in community lot.

This fix enables community wedding for Celebration wedding arch.

Tested with AnyGameStarter, all EPs installed up to BV.
After the wedding, the honeymoon van picked up newlyweds without a problem.

This fix does not enable community wedding for base game wedding arch, as BV already enabled community wedding for it. If you don't have BV, you may need Squinge's community wedding hack as well. I'm not sure if Squinge's hack is compatible up to Seasons or not.

Works for FreeTime.
Obsolete in AL or M&G. Remove the fix if you have AL or M&G.

Installation:

If you put this fix in Downloads folder, Celebration wedding arch will bear annoying custom star in thumbnail pic, and the delete button will be enabled.
Put it here to avoid custom star and delete button:

 C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Celebration! Stuff\TSData\Res\StuffPack\Objects

 C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Double Deluxe\SP4\TSData\Res\StuffPack\Objects
(for Double Deluxe)

If your latest EP is patched FreeTime, you can put the fix here instead of StuffPack folder:

 C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 FreeTime\TSData\Res\Catalog\Bins
(or the corresponding folder on your system if your game isn't installed in C:\Program Files)

DO NOT remove z- prefix in the filename. It is for ensuring that this fix is loaded after SP objects, overriding original settings.

670  Darcyland / Lord Darcy Investigates / Re: FFS Lot Debugger is mutated into the small glass vase - DIY package on: 2008 February 01, 12:36:41
Thanks dizzy. It will be especially useful for Mac users who can't use SimPE.

Any thoughts on making a tutorial to change the debugger into the decorative object of your choice?

I wrote a sort of mini tutorial at the end of the first post. Below is more verbose version.

==========================================================================
How to turn FFS Lot Debugger into Maxis decorative object of your choice

This tutorial assumes that you have basic understanding of object cloning. If you don't know how to clone an object in SimPE, I suggest that you read this tutorial first. (Skip the stuff about 3D meshing and texturing, you only need to read the part about SimPE.)

1. Clone a decorative object of your choice as usual in Object Workshop. It does not need to be an 1-tile object.

2. In the Scenegraph rename wizard, set ModelName as ffsdebuggerbox, click Update and click OK. DO NOT tick the box named University Ready v2. Save it in the convenient folder.
As dizzy has said, it really does not matter. You can change ModelName if you want. I just prefer making it as close to original as possible.

3. Before extracting mesh files, apply repository technique to pull textures from the original Maxis object.

4. Extract these 4 resources from your clone.

Geometric Data Container (GMDC)
Geometric Node (GMND)
Resource Node (CRES)
Shape (SHPE)

Save these 4 resources in a safe folder for future use. You'll need them whenever lot debugger is updated.

5. Open the Lot Debugger in SimPE, and delete the existing TXMT and TXTR for the black bat box.

6. Delete the existing CRES and SHPE.

7. Add GMDC, GMND, CRES and SHPE you extracted from the clone.

8. If you're cloning an object like large sculpture or floor plant that can sit only on the ground, you're done. But if you're cloning something like a small plant or a painting, you have to change the object placement of the lot debugger. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to put it on surfaces or hang it on the wall.

If you're cloning a small decorative object that sits on various surfaces, you can reuse my edited custom BHAVs in the first post. 0x00001FFE allows lot debugger to serve as table deco. If your object is too large to serve as table deco, you can leave it out.

If you're cloning anything else, replace "Function - Init" BHAV with mine, but don't add other 2 BHAVs.

Read this tutorial first for basic understanding of object placement.
Select Tool - Object Tools - Import SemiGlobals in SimPE, and pick the right semiglobal for your clone, e.g. PaintingGlobals for paintings. Select Scan, select Uncheck all, and import only BHAV: Function - Init. (Sometimes the name can be different.)
Select newly added BHAV, click on Resource tab, and change the Instance number to 0x00001FFF, and commit.
Select Plugin View tab again, change the filename to something like Function - Init - Painting to avoid confusion.
If you want to change the object placement further, follow this tutorial.

This tutorial can be applied to other object hacks as well.

I'd never heard of hitting M.

This is an extremely useful function, especially if you have OFB. You can move objects between slots on OFB shelves/small dressers/bay window/BV collectible shelf/counter decorative slots etc.

I don't think OMSP would work, as Sims cannot be placed on the end tables or coffee tables even with moveobjects cheat on.

Thanks so much for your help! So let me clarify, if I put the files into \TSData\Res\Catalog\Bins it will affect the comfort of all recolours, but not clones, right?

Yes.
675  Darcyland / Lord Darcy Investigates / Re: FFS Lot Debugger is mutated into the small glass vase - DIY package on: 2008 January 31, 00:49:38
I think V means like TJ's VC. You can choose between a variety of plants for the controller.

It would probably be beyond my limited modding ability. In any case, a new function like "Change Model" should be added to pie menu, which will surely conflict with official Awesome pie menu whenever a new function is added to the lot debugger.

It's not possible to do this with the BHAV files due to their group (0xFFFFFFFF). So, would it be possible to assign a custom group to the ffsdebugger object in order to allow external overrides to it?

I was under the impression that it's only possible to official Maxis objects. Wouldn't it cause a possible conflict with Maxis objects if a custom group is assigned to the cc object?
