51  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: More Fun Activities For Sims 3 - Updated September 8th on: 2009 September 08, 19:27:59
New stuff added. Some of the interactions were by request from another site, and I included some that I overlooked previously. AND, I did the Social motives with some of the interactions that I thought should boost Social with other Sims.

Interactions:

Rummage Through Trashcan Outdoors
Collect Rocks
Hang Out With Sim - * Social motive fixed. It was 0 by EA default *
Interview Sim - * Social and Fun motive boosts were added *
Scare Sim - * EA default was 0 *
Write Report On Computer - * Fun motive added *
Protest City Hall - * Social motive boost added and Fun motive boost increased *

SPECIAL NOTE:

These interactions originally did not contain either or both Fun and Social motive boosts, making the interactions less sociable or fun for Sims. Interviewing people should be considered as a social activity for most people who like to do these interviews in real life. I guess EA is anti-social, or maybe their dev team is anti-social. Hanging out with people should be a FUN activity as well a socially acceptable gathering at most colleges. I hung out with my friends while I was in college and had fun doing that. So should our Sims!
52  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: About the online AwesomeMod Configuration Tool on: 2009 September 06, 17:58:01
Instead of creating a new thread regarding the Online Awesome Mod Configuration Tool to address an issue I came across, I will post here to point out a problem with one of the features.

After the two new features were added to allow players to configure the autosave features, I decided to try the features out and changed my mind using these features. I went back to the page to reconfigure the autosave features to set them both to zero. I wasn't able to with one of the features.

The following feature:

AutoSavesToKeep

Description:

Autosave Every X Minutes (0 to disable)

Problem:

The field box was missing the zero (0) value to be used to disable this feature. I couldn't set this feature to zero to disable this feature.

My reason was because when I placed a new Sim in one lot, the game was autosaved without the option to name it using the Save As option. I didn't want the game to save the game automatically the first time. I wanted to be given the opportunity to name the game save first to separate this save from the other saves I downloaded from players who redid the towns.
53  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Less Blue Nights / Longer Shadows on: 2009 August 31, 19:38:04
All right. I will look forward to hearing from you if you can get that to work and allow the plants and trees to look more visible. I'm going to re-download Longer Shadows and see if the "overcast" feeling has been reduced in my neighborhood.
54  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Children Can Make Posts On Forums - Sims 3 on: 2009 August 29, 21:22:52
THAT idea should go very well with the Pedophile system implemented with AM. I look forward to seeing what happens with that idea. Maybe our deemed El Presidente can implement something like that into AM for us. But of course, it is up to him if he wants to do something similar because if I was to do one, I don't want it to conflict with AM.
55  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Less Blue Nights / Longer Shadows on: 2009 August 29, 21:19:10
Maybe or not if the lighting seemed to be coming from somewhere else that's considered as a core. There is another idea, but I don't know if the idea will work. I wonder if you can try to reduce the moonlight itself and see if the plants and trees for the garden will look more visible? You did say that the shadows from the moonlight was overlapping the lighting from the lamps.

Yes, I do appreciate the hard work you're putting into this project to make lighting look more realistic for Sims 3 as much as you did with yours for Sims 2.
56  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Children Can Make Posts On Forums - Sims 3 on: 2009 August 29, 01:17:34
That's interesting about Eternal September. Thanks for the link and info!  Grin
57  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Less Blue Nights / Longer Shadows on: 2009 August 29, 01:14:41
I suspected it wasn't my video card playing weird tricks on me when I looked at the garden plants and trees at night time with the lamps next to them to illuminate the area.

Will it be possible to fix this? If that's not possible, then it's okay. I used your mod the other day, and the whole 'hood looked a lot better now with brighter lighting.
58  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Less Blue Nights / Longer Shadows on: 2009 August 28, 16:21:29
But that does not make sense if the lights are placed NEXT to the garden plants to brighten up the area where the garden plants and trees are planted. For example, a tall street lamp on the wooden pole is supposed to brighten the area, but the plants and trees were much darker than they should in the light. Is this related to the way EA implemented the natural lighting outside on top of the outdoor lamps?
59  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Children Can Make Posts On Forums - Sims 3 on: 2009 August 28, 16:17:33
It looks like Eternal September has hit the SimsInternet.

Your point being ...?

Hahaha, IF there is a way to implement that, Jolrei. That is a good idea. I decided to do this one for lulz because my girl need to troll the other 12s in the 'hood for fun.  Grin
60  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Less Blue Nights / Longer Shadows on: 2009 August 28, 09:41:02
So far, the mod is working out just great for me adjusting the way the neighborhood looked during the day and during the night.

There was one thing that bothered me for a long time, and I wondered if this problem is affected by the outdoors lighting at nighttime. The garden plants and trees always seemed so dark against the bright terrain if outdoor light poles are placed by them. The other plants, shrubs and trees looked fine.

Is there a way to adjust the way lighting is used to make garden plants and tress look normal at night?
61  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Children Can Make Posts On Forums - Sims 3 on: 2009 August 27, 22:31:06
Description:

Children can make inappropriate posts or troll on the forums and check for responses.

SPECIAL NOTE:

Children must have at least one or more of the following traits to make inappropriate posts or troll on the forums:

Evil (Troll)
Inappropriate Post (Inappropriate)
Mean-Spirited (Troll)

The traits are part of the coding for both mods by EA default for the options to be available on the computer for children and above.

NOTE:

The animations already existed for them to be able to interact with the computer. The animations were based on the Practice Writing interaction that the children can do already. So, the children didn't stretch when they make inappropriate posts or troll on the forum and check for responses.

Compatibility Notes:

NOT compatible with the check for responses, make inappropriate posts and make troll posts on the forums activities from More Fun Activities - Sims 3. More Fun Activities - Sims 3 does not allow children to do the above interactions by EA default.

If you want children to gain Fun, use ChildrenCanPostTrollCheckForResponsesMoreFun-Sims3 instead.

Two versions are available:

ChildrenCanPostTrollCheckForResponses-Sims3 (No Fun motive boost)
ChildrenCanPostTrollCheckForResponsesMoreFun-Sims3 (Fun motive boost)
62  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Faster Novel Writing - Sims 3: Updated - August 22, 2009 on: 2009 August 22, 21:29:39
Necromancy aside.. The thread is updated with an addition of a new alternate mod to allow players to enjoy watching their Sims work to gain the appropriate skills and levels in order to unlock the genres.

This was a request made by someone at MTS last week.
63  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: More Fun Activities For Sims 3 on: 2009 August 19, 20:54:02
The kids got taken away after they jumped on the beds in Sims 2 because they got "too hot". And rather quick too if I remembered...

Shouldn't be a problem because there is no weather system or a heating/cooling system in Sims 3. It's just like Sims 2 all over again without the weather or consequences if the Sims got too hot or cold.

I'll see what I can do about that and locate any more fun activities that haven't been included for use.

**Edited**

More fun activities are added to give players a wider range of things they can choose from that they want their Sims to have fun doing.

The following activities are:

Jump On Bed
Do Homework
Do Homework With
Blog On Computer
Make Inappropriate Post On Forums
Troll On Forums
Smash Dollhouse
Tinkering
Overlock Computer
Research New Stock On Computer
Run Forensic Analysis On Computer
Sabotage Electronic Objects
Work From Home
Check For Forum Responses

More details are on the first post of this thread. The new activities are packaged as More Fun Activities - Sims 3 - Pack 3.
64  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: More Fun Activities For Sims 3 on: 2009 August 19, 19:24:29
I'm very amused.  Grin

I have one more project in the works to do. It's just one activity that I was looking into to do. When will I release it? I'm not sure yet when, but it is one thing I wanted from Sims 2 that's missing in Sims 3. My angry Sims has nothing to do until then.  Undecided

Do you guys think jumping on beds will be a fun activity to do for kids and childish adults?

Sorry about the books, edalbformat. I liked books in real life and wanted my Sims to have as much fun reading them.

And for beds, that is an interesting discussion about the .xml files to find. Has anyone figured out exactly what DMTR files really really do?
65  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: More Fun Activities For Sims 3 on: 2009 August 16, 00:59:54
Exactly.

If I did combine all of the files into one single package, then someone will ask for a separate file if the person is only interested in one or two fun activities and install those instead of dealing with the activities he or she doesn't want.

Really easy process for those of you who wants to combine activities you want into a single file:

1. Open S3pe and click File on the menu bar.
2. Select New to create a new file.
3. Choose File again and scroll down to Import Packages...
4. Start importing the files you picked out for yourself, making sure you know where you unzipped the files to.
5. Once you imported the files you want, then click Save As to name your new mod.
6. Drop the new mod into your Mods/Packages folder or whatever subfolder you have in the Mods/Packages folder as long as your resource.cfg file supports more folders and subfolders.

I could've done that, but I figured people will want one or two activities from either package for their own games.

*Edited*

I was responding to varmint's post.

I was waiting to see if that one program is out yet to edit ttabs in a similar manner to SimPE being used to edit the menus and bcons. I saw and tried out most of the programs available to modify Sims 3. So far, I liked S3pe and Postal. I checked out the object cloner tool, but it was a bit unstable at the time.

Sure, we could tell users to edit the values in the mods if they wanted to, but some users can't for some reason or other. Or have their reasons for not wanting to touch anything out of fear they might screw up their own games.  Grin
66  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: More Fun Activities For Sims 3 on: 2009 August 15, 17:20:47
I looked at the Mod Generator and chucked it out, preferring S3pe and Postal to do the work with various files. I'm more into reading and understanding the scripting with subroutines and values to understand what Sims do in Sims 3, and what things do too in Sims 3.

I don't think anybody is going to complain since these files and those other files have different approaches to how much Fun should be gained. I tried a couple of those "fun" activities from those links before and felt they weren't really boosting Fun visibly enough to make the activities worthwhile.

But everybody has their own preferences. I was willing to share what I considered as fun activities with those who wanted those same fun activities and have Sims visibly gain Fun doing them. Whatever floats your boat...

Oh, the reason they're individual files is because these are fun activities the players can pick and choose from than to deal with one file full of activities, some of the activities which the players may not wish to have in their games if they think some of the fun activities are not "Fun" for them and their Sims. If you don't think exploring a mausoleum is fun, then you can opt not to install that. That's the reason for the packaged files containing separate fun activities.
67  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: More Fun Activities For Sims 3 on: 2009 August 14, 19:04:06
I own a cellphone and do not have fun using it anyway. I use it for texting mostly to pester my family and friends.  Grin

If you find anything else that you think should be fun, let me know. I'll see what I will do.

Yeah, I definitely agree with you, brownlustgirl. I was under the impression that EA made Fun a big no-no in Sims 3. I was scratching my head and thinking "Huh?" while I'm watching my Sims enjoy activities that should be fun. I think EA needs to get a life and do fun stuff for a change.
68  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: More Fun Activities For Sims 3 on: 2009 August 13, 23:06:30
Those are a few things I overlooked. I'm gonna check into those activities in a little bit, and I'll see what I can do.

*UPDATED*

New Stuff:

Chat On Computer More Fun *Chat With Random Or Specific Sim*
Fishing More Fun
Cuddle On Seat More Fun *Kiss And Make Out*
Cuddle On Bed More Fun *Kiss And Make Out*
Take Bubble Bath More Fun *All Types of Bathtubs*
Swimming More Fun
Picnic More Fun *Picnic On Ground And At Picnic Table*

Bubble Baths were fun, but there was a bit of code that disabled the Fun motive. Fixed that to let Sims have fun taking bubble baths.

Picnic More Fun also has Social that was given a zero value, so the Sims weren't benefiting from socializing around the picnic basket on the ground and at the table. Their Social motives didn't improve. Huh, figures.

More Fun Activities - Sims 3 - Pack 2 is uploaded alongside with the original More Fun Activities - Sims 3 package. I'm adding more details in the original post.

Oh, the flirt and make out interactions are simply... interactions from the socializing file. Neither have any code to increase Social or Fun motives. The only things I found were related to a seat (presumably a couch) and a bed. Those interactions do have bits of code and lack the appropriate code for boosting Fun.
69  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / More Fun Activities For Sims 3 - Updated September 8th on: 2009 August 13, 19:56:29
More Fun Activities - Sims 3 enhances the stuff Sims do to gain more Fun because in truth, there weren't many things in Sims 3 that Sims can do and gain Fun.

The following are listed below with some of the mods having special notes:

Explore Mausoleum More Fun
Go Jogging And More Fun
Hack Computer More Fun
Paint Faster And More Fun
Play Chess With Chess Table And More Fun
Play Chess With Computer And More Fun
Play In Toybox More Fun
Play On Playground Equipment *The EA default was 0, therefore Sims weren't gaining Fun*
Play Toy Peg Box More Fun
Play Xylophone More Fun
Read Book More Fun
Read Newspaper More Fun
Read Skill Book More Fun
Search Galaxy More Fun *Not the same as Stargaze - looking at the stars*
Solve Hard Problem With Computer More Fun
Stargaze More Fun *Not the same as Search Galaxy - searches the galaxies for unusual stuff for fun*
Toddler Read Book More Fun
Workout Bench And More Fun
Workout Stereo And More Fun
Workout TV And More Fun *You can use with "UnlockedTVChannelsAndMoreFun". Different files*
Workout Treadmill And More Fun
Write Novel With Computer More Fun *You can use with "Faster Novel Writing For Sims 3". Different files*

NEW:

Chat On Computer More Fun *Chat With Random Or Specific Sim*
Fishing More Fun
Cuddle On Seat More Fun *Kiss And Make Out*
Cuddle On Bed More Fun *Kiss And Make Out*
Take Bubble Bath More Fun *All Types of Bathtubs*
Swimming More Fun
Picnic More Fun *Picnic On Ground And At Picnic Table*

SPECIAL NOTE:

Picnic More Fun also has its Social values fixed because the Sims' Social motives did not improve at all when they socialize while they're on a picnic on the ground or at the table.

NEW:

Jump On Bed
Do Homework
Do Homework With - *This is a different interaction to do homework with other Sims*
Blog On Computer
Make Inappropriate Post On Forums
Troll On Forums
Smash Dollhouse
Tinkering - *All tinkering activities are combined into one single file*
Overclock Computer
Research New Stock On Computer - *Only Sims with Charisma trait and skill can do this by EA default*
Run Forensic Analysis On Computer
Sabotage Electronic Objects - *TV, Stereo and Computer activities combined in one file*
Work From Home
Check For Forum Responses

SPECIAL NOTE:

Tinkering, Sabotage Electronic Objects and Overclocking Computer did not have code bits to boost Fun.

NEW:

NOTE:

These activities had no line added to allow for Sims to gain Fun or had either zero or low values that aren't enough to justify the activities worth doing for your Sims. Some of the activities did have a bit of code, but EA was too freakin' lazy to get them right to let a Sim visibly gain Fun.

These are my personal mods that I made for myself because in my opinion, there weren't very many activities in Sims 3 to let Sims gain Fun. I figured you guys would like to have some of these mods for yourselves. The activities are the ones I think make sense if they give the Sim something fun to do whether they're kids, teens or adults.

SIDE NOTE:

You can pick any or all of the mods to install for Sims 3. Be sure to use Indie Stone Compatibility Checker (available at MTS) to check for any conflict between any of these mods against other similar mods.

If you don't see something listed that you think can be modified to gain more fun, please let me know.

INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:

Put the mods here:

70  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Unlocked Tv Channels And More Fun - Sims 3 on: 2009 August 09, 18:33:48
Unlocked TV Channels And More Fun enables Sims to watch any of the tv shows and gain Fun from watching the shows just like their Sims 2 cousins did.

No more Sim TV Trait discrimination! Anybody can pick up a remote and flip the TV on to watch their show without worrying about the In Soviet Russia TV Watch You Group telling them they can't watch this show or that show without certain traits! Viva Watch TV Freedom!

Features:

Unlocked Channels:

Super Shopping Network
Fishing Fracas
Cookin' Cable
Terror TV
Halls of History
Action World
KidZ Zone
Romantic Rendezvous
Got Garden?

*The two Work Out options were already enabled by default.

Affected TVs:

Cheap (The Very Cheap TV With Bad Reception)
Moderate (Next to Cheap Floor Model)
Moderate Flat Screen (Flat Screen Floor Model)
Expensive (Wall Flat Screen)
TV Wall (The Most Expensive Wall TV - About $8000)

These TVs have their distinct own behaviors and interactions.

Fun:

I modified a number of interactions to boost the Fun motive on the different types of TVs. EA's default Fun values range from 20 to 65. These EA default values did not make significant impact on the Fun motive. Sims could sit for hours to watch TV and not gain any Fun at all. I increased the EA default value to 70 so that the Fun motive could increase visibly to make TV watching worthwhile to have a TV around.

What's Not Modified:

The Cheap TVs still give a negative Bad Reception buff as these TVs should.

71  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Faster Garden Tasks - Sims 3 on: 2009 July 26, 16:59:09
Do the weeds look like they show up more frequently or less frequently for a large garden? My Sim has a large garden now, and she went through the gardening tasks quickly than she did without the mod.

New flavors available. Enjoy!

I uploaded the wrong files. The correct files are now available.
72  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Faster Garden Tasks Series - Sims 3: July 27, 2009 on: 2009 July 26, 09:14:59
Faster Garden Tasks - Sims 3 enables Sims without the Green Thumb trait and Super-Green Thumb reward to harvest, weed and water the plants much faster than they originally did, but they perform the tasks slightly slower than those Sims with the Green Thumb trait and Super-Green Thumb reward.

Features:

Weed is unlocked for Sims with no skill level in Gardening.
Fertilize is unlocked for Sims with no skill level in Gardening.
Chance for weeds to appear is increased to compensate for the faster weeding task.

Fertilize is unlocked for Sims with no skill level in Gardening.
No increased chance for weeds to appear.

No increased chance for weeds to appear.

Faster Garden Tasks - All Skills And Rares Unlocked With Increased Weed Chance

Features:

Weed is unlocked for Sims with no skill level in Gardening.

Features:

Weed is unlocked for Sims with no skill level in Gardening.
Fertilize is unlocked for Sims with no skill level in Gardening.
All rare seeds are unlocked for Sims with no skill level in Gardening.
No increased chance for weeds to appear.

Special Notes:

Sims without the Green Thumb trait and Super-GreenThumb reward will take roughly 30 minutes to water at least 3 plants and 30 minutes to weed at least 3 plants. Sims without the Green Thumb trait and Super-GreenThumb reward will fertilize the plants at the same rate as those with the trait and reward do fertilizing the plants.

Sims 3 only!

Note:

This mod may or may not conflict with other similar mods. Use Indie Stone Compatibility Checker to ensure there is no conflict between this mod and other identical mods. It's one or the other, not both!

This mod can be used with any of the three Less Hygiene Decay mods.

Nothing is enabled to allow children to perform gardening tasks.

73  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Supreme Commander on: 2009 July 19, 23:40:27
No, the other site wasn't slow in getting the information on the AM and Supreme Commander. You asked at that site to have it modified. And we said no because for:

1. Permission would have to be gotten to modify the mod. I don't think Pescado likes that, but I could be wrong.
2. The mod wasn't hosted at that other site.

You were told that it is best to ask here to see about Supreme Commander being a separate mod or being redesigned or made to work with Indie Stone's mod.

It is just a matter of respect and courtesy to ask the creator, not another modder, if he or she can fulfill the request or not.
74  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Children Can Read Skill Books - Sims 3 on: 2009 July 15, 13:25:19
Children can read the skill books that weren't originally available to them and gain skill points just like the teens, adults and elders do:

Gardening
Cooking
Charisma
Handiness

I am not sure if children can already read the recipes, but I assumed they can even if they can't read the skill books but gain skill points through the toy oven.

NOTE:

This mod may or may not conflict with other mods editing the skill books. Make sure to use Indie Stone's Compability Checker to check for any conflict.

75  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Less Hygiene Decay From Weeding and Harvesting - Sims 3: Updated - July 11, 2009 on: 2009 July 15, 02:01:12
My mod and her mod will conflict since I think it is the same file that's edited to slow down the decay rate of Hygiene when watering, weeding and harvesting the plants from the garden. These mods are for people who don't use mods to affect children and gardening just like Stormy's.

As with all the other mods out there, it's a matter of preference for what mod you want to use to play the game the way you want to. It's also a matter of choosing one mod over the other that do similar tasks as you can't really have both mods installed at the same time.
