Did you patch your game to the newest patch that fixed the game speed? It would make sense if you didn't patch the game, you would be experiencing some randomness with time while you watch your Sim write a book each time you order the Sim to do so on the computer without saving on quitting the game.

79  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Faster Novel Writing - Sims 3 on: 2009 June 23, 16:59:09
Did you not read the part where it said "depending on the genre"? Autobiographies, Epics, Masters and whatnot take longer to finish because they have more pages to complete than the other genres.
80  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Less Hygiene Decay From Garden Tasks - Sims 3: Updated - July 27, 2009 on: 2009 June 21, 21:29:20
Basic Description:

Less Hygiene Decay From Weeding, Less Hygiene Decay From Watering, Less Hygiene Decay From Fertiziling, and Less Hygiene Decay From Harvesting reduce the decay rate for Hygiene while the Sim waters, fertilizes, weeds or harvests the plants in the garden.

NEW

Less Hygiene Decay And More Fun From Garden Tasks:

This set of Less Hygiene Decay And More Fun From Garden Tasks mods has one additional feature to boost the Fun motive for Sims while they are weeding, watering or harvesting the plants in their gardens.

You can choose one or all of the new alternate versions from the Less Hygiene Decay And More Fun From Garden Tasks to install in your game.

SPECIAL NOTE:

Fertilizing does not decrease or increase Fun because the Fertilize interaction itself is different from the other gardening interactions (Weeding, Watering and Harvesting), but this interaction does have a decay rate for Hygiene.

Install Instructions:

XP:

C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages

Vista:

C:\Whatever Directory You Use For Vista\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages

Side Note:

Sure, there is a lifetime wish or two to counteract the hygiene drops related to certain activities such as weeding or harvesting the garden, but I found other lifetime wishes far more useful to spend the points on than to bother with useless ones to reduce the rate at which Hygiene or some other Need decays.

Updated - July 27, 2009 - Updated

Uploaded a new set of new mods that boosts the Fun motive for Sims performing the gardening tasks in their gardens.

Uploaded a new mod to reduce the Hygiene decay rate for Sims doing the fertilizing in their gardens.
81  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Normalised Energy Gain for ALL Beds (base ones so far, anyway...) on: 2009 June 21, 20:50:43
Izarc worked with the zipped file just fine. Winrar puked at opening the zipped file still. This is just from seeing which program will open without problems.

Gonna check this out. My thoughts exactly how beds should be handled.
82  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Faster Novel Writing - Sims 3: Updated - August 22, 2009 on: 2009 June 19, 23:36:09
Basic Description:

The mod enables Sims to write novels faster on their computers.

NOTE:

A Sim without the BookWorm/Artistic or similar traits will spend around 8 to 12 hours writing a novel (depending on the genre) from start to finish.

A Sim with the BookWorm/Artistic or similar traits will spend slightly less time writing a novel (depending on the genre) from start to finish, meaning that if a Sim (without the BookWorm/Artistic or similar traits) spent 8 hours, then the other Sim (with the BookWorm/Artistic or similar traits) will spend around 4 to 6 hours depending on what type of genre is used for the novel.

Each genre is unlocked for the traits the Sim have regardless of what skill level the Sim has for writing novels. Only Painting level 6 is required I believe to write a children's book.

NEW:

The new alternate version does not allow Sims with no skills to write a novel ranging from Children's to Vaudeville, meaning that they have to gain the appropriate skills and levels to unlock the genres later on.

This version retains the original features for faster writing and no bigger royalty payouts.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Install the mod into the following location if you have XP:

C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages

Do NOT put the mod anywhere else but that location. Vista shouldn't be any different.

You must have Pescado's framework mod to be installed in order for the mod to work with Sims 3. You can find the framework mod at two locations:

For Advance Users installing manually:

http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,15184.0.html

For Beginner Users installing the easy way:

http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=344611

Copy and paste the website addresses into your favorite browser and visit either site to get the framework mod for Sims 3. Must have it or you won't be able to use the mods!

Side Note:

This mod has a different take from other similar mods as it will not increase royalties, number of royalties payouts (by week or month) or grant instant skill points.

Re-download the new version to replace the old mod. Same features.
83  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Old Homework In Inventory Issue on: 2009 June 11, 22:21:00
All right. That I can do. I did wonder why she couldn't finish her old homework to bring her grade back up to where it was. Thanks for the suggestions!
84  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Old Homework In Inventory Issue on: 2009 June 11, 22:17:17
Does anybody have a problem with the old homework left in a Sim's inventory? The old homework could not be deleted, nor can it be thrown away if the old homework is placed on a table or a floor.

My child Sim aged up into a teen when she had homework in her inventory. That particular homework object became the old homework.

Is there a way to delete old homework from the Sim's inventory? It's clogging up the Sim's inventory with no venue to delete it or finish it.

So far, the new version the awesome mod appeared to be working well for me. The game did not crash when 1 AM came and went.
86  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: DasmX86Dll.dll Not Found Issue on: 2009 June 08, 04:26:19
I also neglected to mention that my game was Retail if that makes any difference.
87  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD & SCRIPT HACKS: CRASH ISSUES THREAD on: 2009 June 08, 04:24:02
Heh!

Someone mentioned playing Riverview when the crash happened, and an idea struck me. I decided to create a new Sim and play her in Sunset Valley. Watched her do Sim stuff until the game approached 1 AM. The game did crash to the desktop.

So, the neighborhoods had nothing to do with the game crashes at 1 AM.
88  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: DasmX86Dll.dll Not Found Issue on: 2009 June 08, 03:24:17
Game settings as in the awesome config or what?

I checked the file permissions and saw nothing out of the ordinary, cleaned out the prefetch folder and double checked the mods. I have HP's skintones, awesome mod, framework, scripterrorenabler and one small experimental mod I'm working on (related to writing). Nothing else.

**Edited**

Okay, if this has to do with awesomeconfig, I enabled everything including the debug commands.
89  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: DasmX86Dll.dll Not Found Issue on: 2009 June 08, 03:19:13
That is a mystery indeed as to what they were doing for the last 3 or so years and delaying the release of Sims 3.  Grin

But I did find out more or less what caused these game crashes. I checked the crashes and issues thread over in your new TS3 sub section and saw that I had the same problem as other people did when the game approached 1 AM and crashed to the desktop. I had the previous version of the awesome mod installed and experienced this crash a few times thinking it had to do with the missing file. Then I removed the previous awesome mod (dated 6-7-09 8:15 AM) and installed the latest version (dated 6-7-09 4:51 PM). The game did crash around 1 AM with the newer version of the awesome mod.

I didn't realize that the issue was related to the fact that the game consistently crashed around 1 AM with this particular mod. And not related to the missing file.

Although I would think EA did a sloppy job cleaning up the dangling functions pointing to what wasn't there.

**EDITED**

By the way, my game version is US if that helps.
90  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD & SCRIPT HACKS: CRASH ISSUES THREAD on: 2009 June 08, 03:09:28
Just noticed the game crash contributed to one factor: 1 AM.

I downloaded the most recent version and installed it. I loaded up the game with no problems and went into my family's household. Watched the Sim do some things until the clock turned to 1 AM. Then the game crashed.

This version does seem to have the same crash issue.

So the issue I had in another thread was more or less related to what I saw here. I didn't realize that it was -this- 1 AM issue because the crashes were consistent with the fact the game approached 1 AM without fail. And consistent with the current version as well.
91  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: DasmX86Dll.dll Not Found Issue on: 2009 June 08, 02:28:28
Where's your proof? Prove yourself by going to EA and finding THAT EA thread stating there is a solution for this issue with TS3 albeit Spore, and THEN post your proof. I don't go near where the sheeple go and baa/baawl over everything related to EA games.

If you can't show us the proof and back up your statement that such a solution exists to address or fix the issue, then you really need to go play in the traffic or lurk moar.

Anyways...

Pescado, I cleared out the \Windows\Prefetch folder and that didn't seem to resolve the issue. The game still crashed, pointing to the missing file.

Seriously, why is the game running a check for this file in this manner if the disassembler tool was taken out or rather this particular piece of code left in?

92  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: DasmX86Dll.dll Not Found Issue on: 2009 June 08, 01:27:15
Look for something else to do. You contributed nothing to the discussion.

Why waste our time to fix the bugs stupid EA unwittingly put into games as Spore and TS3? We should not be doing any tech stuff to fix what THEY unwittingly did.

Unfortunately, you're the one who hasn't experienced this problem, Zii. Go.. Shoo shoo.. Go play in the traffic.

93  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: DasmX86Dll.dll Not Found Issue on: 2009 June 08, 01:04:51
That's very strange. I am trying out Pescado's suggestion to clear out the \Windows\prefetch folder to see if that helps.

I think EA did a sloppy job cleaning up the game code before it went into production. Not everybody runs a disassembler at home. What I don't understand is why did this issue get carried over to TS3 about a year after Spore?
94  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: DasmX86Dll.dll Not Found Issue on: 2009 June 08, 00:55:57
I'm curious if you have XP Home or XP Professional? Mine is XP Pro and it does contain a \Windows\prefetch folder.
95  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: DasmX86Dll.dll Not Found Issue on: 2009 June 08, 00:46:18
All right, I'll try that, Pescado. Mind if I ask what clearing the \Windows\prefetch exactly does?

I sorted the mods alphabetically in the Mods folder by creator name. For example: Pescado-awesome, HP-somemodshemade

This is the only way I can remember who made these mods and check back on the appropriate sites for new updates.
96  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / DasmX86Dll.dll Not Found Issue on: 2009 June 07, 23:34:56
I haven't found a thread on the site addressing the "DasmX86Dll.dll Not Found" issue and googled this particular oddity with several links pointing to a discussion about this problem related to Spore. There isn't a discussion on this problem relating to Sims 3.

The reason I posted here was because of the discussions across the board about the technical aspects of the games and whatnot. Hopefully, I can find an answer to fix this problem specifically with Sims 3.

Also, I have Spore installed and do not have mods for it. I haven't played Spore in almost a year, but I wasn't going to uninstall because of the limited installation number slapped onto Spore.

Earlier today, I was playing Sims 3 and testing a mod I made to speed up novel writing. The game crashed to the desktop. I glanced into the Sims 3 folder to open the error log to see what was going on just before the crash. I noticed something interesting:

[Instruction data]
00575b56 => DasmX86Dll.dll not found.

This particular oddity was shown just below the stack data pointing to a missing file.

I googled this issue and found a few links:

Google Results

EA and Spore

DasmX86Dll.dll Discussio on Twitter

It seems that this issue was an example of EA's sloppy job removing certain pieces of code from the game to clean it up before the game went into production. I understood that these pieces of code weren't supposed to be left in the game file(s), and that some form of disassembler was used. I could be wrong, but that was what I read from several links on Google.

I am wondering WHY the game was attempting to search for this particular file. I am wondering how this issue can be fixed for Sims 3. So far, I downloaded and placed this file in the Windows\System32 folder for XP.

I do want to know what the game was doing and how this can be addressed. Many thanks in advance for the help you guys could provide and hope no others has to go through this like I did.
97  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Clean and fixed Uber-Megahood! FINISHED! on: 2009 March 23, 07:03:55
Gustav's Grocery was blue in HP's 'hood, and I had to copy that lot from my partner's computer (she has up to FT) over to mine when I used HP's 'hood in the past.

I played the 'hood the other day and thought it was a well-done job. Wink
98  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Clean and fixed Uber-Megahood! FINISHED! on: 2009 March 21, 06:51:55
I played with Lothario and Caliente for a while and there were no issues.  I did notice after taking Lothario to a community lot in Belladonna Cove (the art museum)  there was a gravestone next to the pay phone.  The name the grave gave was Olivia Reilly.  I can't remember a family with this person, but I haven't played BDC much.

She was from BDC. I heard she was from one of the families who lived in an apartment, and that I heard her tombstone was found on a random community lot.

I am curious about which Sim knew her well enough to revive her from the grave.

Anyways, I am back to say that WinRAR did the trick by extracting all three parts and putting them together as N001 via the wizard tool. I installed the new neighborhood and checked each 'hood out carefully. No lots were misplaced, no families were missing and no odd object placements were found. The new 'hood looked fine. And Gustav's Grocery is where it should be and is not blue like in HP's version.

Thumbs up for the great job.
99  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Clean and fixed Uber-Megahood! FINISHED! on: 2009 March 21, 02:10:07
In my case, when I extracted Part 1, it was just Part 1. The other two Parts weren't automatically extracted. But the Wizard does solve that problem by extracting all 3 Parts and putting them into the same folder almost like what was described in your post with the files and information about installing them. There was some overwriting, but not a lot.

At least, it works for me now using WinRAR.

I'm backing up my Neighborhoods folder as we speak.

Once again, many thanks to you and others for doing this project.

100  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Clean and fixed Uber-Megahood! FINISHED! on: 2009 March 21, 00:23:08
Okay, I downloaded and installed WinRAR to try extracting all 3 Parts. I messed around with the functions and realized it was the wizard tool that automatically installed all three into the same folder. So far, with WinRAR, no errors popped up during the extraction.

Izarc doesn't have a wizard tool that would do what WinRAR does with the wizard tool. I always install manually, so that may be what happened when I attempted to do with all 3 Parts.

I will post anything if the neighborhood looks fine later tonight.
