Okay, jealousy is at an all-time high now. I can't stop a sim from accusing of cheating because her spouse ZOMG spoke to another woman at work! how dare he!!!!11!!!
This is absoultely ridiculous. I love some of the new content, but the kermitflail of whine every time someone so much as looks at a sim of the opposite gender, not enjoying so much.
ETA - okay, it's not just talking to sims of the opposite gender, it's working with them. Very much not amused.

Whoa, romantic interactions between couples are badly broken. Sure, I can see how if you haven't spoken to your spouse for a while that woohoo invite may not exactly be high on your to-do list, but frankly, I just cheatily maxed out a couple's relationship (100/100) and had one 'compliment appearance' and their spouse got the 3 hour creepy moodlet. So that's it then - romance between couples is not harder, it is completely broken even on the most basic level. Joy!
I convinced my hubby to buy me the game early because I've got a sprained ankle and am bored out of my skull, I wasn't expecting to not be able to see all the awesome new woohoo locations due to couples loathing the thought of touching each other. Oh well, time to go back to ruining the <s>Thorntons'</s> Wolffes lives.
ETA - well they can give each other flowers no problem, but even when that boosts them up to alluring or greater, the most basic of romantic options still gets the creepy moodlet.

Oh yes. I get the CTD issue with Amy Bull all the bloody time. I fixed her CTD problem by removing her tattoos, however I now have CTDs whenever she gives a makeover. Handy that, no?
Also get CTD when any sim has a tattoo wish selected & when I mouse over the tattooing station at the salon. Fun for ALL the family there!

Jorganza's lot is the only lot to go with a more open, airy floorplan thus far aside from mine. The architecture is simple and the furnishings elegant and well-themed.
I don't really like the roof, but knowing the trouble I had trying to find something that even remotely worked, I'll lay the blame in the game for that one.
Back to my lot. It's amusing seeing people get all bent out of shape over it. The genius comment was tongue in cheek, however my criticism of 'too cramped, too cluttered' remains for the rest of you. It's a tiny space, for crying out loud, expand it, don't make it smaller!

You have caught on to my creative genius. And yes, high school art DOES teach minimalism. If they are teaching at all, and if one can tear the students' attentions away from eating paste and moulding grotesquely misshapen phalluses out of clay.
You don't have to like my lot if you don't want to. I'm not going to point a gun to your head and force you to like it. I do like it though, because it avoids the pitfall of other lots in this comp that decided to struggle against the original lot's shape rather than using it as a feature. In this case, the archetecture would have been lost with the clutter you seem so determined to cling to, so my preference for simplicity, elegance and clean lines won out.
I am waiting around to see if the awesome lot designers are still playing this game, or if they have moved on with the new shiny that is TS3. Witch, Salix Tree, Emma, et al, are you guys still playing this game?

It looks really too easy... it doesn't restrict snapdragons, and once you have those, the rest of the restrictions go *poof* too.
I agree it's too open-ended. If I played this one I'd score it for one or two generations.
If you've got time to cram flower arranging, you aren't playing to the rules of the game. Either your sim is going to starve from lack of food production (remember, you must sell a MINIMUM of 50% of it) or you're cheating, by which stage bitching about being "allowed" to have snapdragons is a mute point.

Basic entertainment lots are fine so long as they meet the requirements above (no electricity, no communications, no television/radio)
So long as it doesn't contradict the rules above, it's fine.

No marrying sims in, as they would not have been born on the lot. Single parenting isn't necessarily the only way to get through the challenge, but you'd need to be very clever about it. It's doable without creepy hacks, just not in the first few gens.
I don't care what hacks you have, as I find that restricting hacks just pisses me off, and it's easy enough to make something challenging without removing the things you downloaded to make your game playable. So yes, what a sim does on autonomy is it's own business.

Required: Seasons
Premise: As a result of "climate change", most of the country's traditionally useable faming regions have disappeared. The economy is sunk, and unemployment has hit an all-time low. In an effort to address these three issues, the government has offered long-term unemployed sims the chance to start a new life.
Your sim is to be given a government grant of $20,000 with which to start a new life farming for the country's starving masses. However, being the government, conditions apply.
Provisions: The government will provide $20,000 to your sim with which they may purchase: 1 block of farmable land of any size, and 1 food storage device with what the government believes is enough food to survive the first winter.
Advisory: Your sim is warned that amenities are basic. There is no access to running water, but free-standing water may be considered safe for consumption.
Game rules:
Apartment Life: No rental properties. Seasons: There are only two. Summer & Winter. You may interpet this however you wish, however, the challenge must start in winter. Land: No pre-existing buildings or structures. Water: Only one type of water. If you choose ocean, you forfeit the access to fresh water. You must have fresh water in order to have toilets, tubs, basins. Food: One fridge only. There are no shops. It may only be restocked with fresh produce or fish. Astro: You may buy the most expensive telescope only. School: Children must stay home & help with the farm if you have a hack that disables SS abduction for truancy, etc. Teens must stay home & help with the farm. Work: You & your kin have a job. The farm. It is a 24/7 job, producing food for the nation. The government will kindly allow you to keep up to 50% of the food you produce for the household. Stuff: Nothing that requires electricity. Nothing that uses radio or television transmissions. No communication devices. Nothing that requires running water. A fresh, free-standing water supply must be available in order to use tubs, toilets & basins. Music: Once a sim has a mechanical skill of 7, they may purchase musical instruments as if they have crafted them. Relationships: Sims may only join the household by birth. Kids: May stay or leave at the onset of adulthood/go to college. Those leaving may only take those they have a 90/90 or higher relationship with, excluding the owner of the farm. Ownership of the farm passes down to the eldest child, and that child may not be moved out before the transfer of ownership at their parent's death. Hired Help: Sims may not hire help for any reason. Breeding: Directed try for baby/produce spore may only be used to satisfy a want or fear.
End of Challenge: When the current heir dies without an heir to replace them. If the eldest child dies before their parent does, the game ends at the death of their parent.
Keeping Score:
+10 for each generation born into game, excluding the last. +10 for each $100,000 less the $20,000 you started with. +10 for each abduction baby. -10 for each electrocution death -10 for each hunger death -10 for each reposession visit

Zaz, be prepared for obnoxious flatmate to stand around near the cot after your sim puts the exhausted infant to sleep, then wait for your sim to leave for work before removing said infant to pop it on the oh so much more comfortable floor, then stand around whining about how much noise it's making with it's incessantly vocal objection to the rude placement. Oh, and don't think control pets is going to help you. Oh no. Flatmates are completely incapable of putting said infant back in the cot, even when directed to do so.

No, they're just another mouth to feed, and they pull your toddlers/infants out of their beds & don't put them back. Flatmates are completely & utterly useless. Much like real life.

Sims can play Cricket. Invisible cricket balls. Now we have to have servos in TS3. Hordes of lethal white Krikket Battle Robots, who love sport, music, family life, pets, nature, and the obliteration of all other living things. There are insects like cockroach and butterflies. They are really big! So this hood is somewhere in the southeast U.S.? See my previous comment on Krikket robots. Floopy farts hearts at jolrei. Feel the DNA lurve.

No, I don't have an old hd I can just plug in, so I am going to the nearest source of borrowable hds available to borrow one if I can.
As for new-style vs old-style, the "new" style has different fittings. We learned this the hard way when I tried to put what is now my hubby's third hd into my computer. (no, he doesn't have a spare that fits my computer either)
We've been thinking of upgrading to a new pc all-out regardless because the box is broken, doesn't like dvd recorders, the usb ports are crapping out & it eats speakers for breakfast. Best thing for this piece of crap is for me to go all post-modern on it.
