76  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Technical problems with THE HORROR: downloading, installing, and running it on: 2009 June 11, 23:33:55

I'm having the same issue.  Does this have anything to do with modifying the TS3.exe, aka no-cd crack?  I've tried using morriganrant's crack, but obviously just pasting over the old .exe file doesn't work.

It should, worked fine for me... though I didn't use morriganrant's crack. Try installing Awesome mod with the no cd enabled if you can't get the new exe to work.
77  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Where do dead babies/toddlers go? on: 2009 June 11, 23:18:02
Actually I think the simulation of the town is alright. I was spying on my neighbors and saw them going up to bed, sitting down and eating through the windows, another was reading a book. I wasn't invited in so the objects were invisible but they seemed to be handling. I also saw a toddler playing with the activity table through the window. I'm sure they probably don't do anything when their house isn't in view but when it is, it seems fine to me. I haven't did the phone call thing but that is pretty lame, they faked it in the first trailer as always.
78  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Experiment: Spanish Revival home for download on: 2009 June 11, 22:57:24
Yes, it did. House looks great in game! One thing I noticed is it came with two graves and I'm not sure that's a good thing. There has to be some massive clogging of data going on in those .sims3 files that hasn't been found yet but I have a feeling when it is found it's not going to be pretty. Another annoyance is I had to move the original lot and put it right where you made it because if I put it on a larger lot, it was offset from the front and looked silly. Why couldn't they put the offset in the back? I had an awful time finding lots of the same size to put the houses I downloaded, especially 25x30 as there is only about 3 of those that I could find. What a massive step backwards.
79  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How do you protect your right to piracy? on: 2009 June 11, 22:43:52
How do you change your IP? The only way I know is to use Tor and from what I understand that's frowned upon because it hogs the available resources. Correct me if I'm wrong. Like you wouldn't.

I normally only torrent pretty obscure stuff, ebooks and old music, stuff like that. But I torrented Sims 3 because I wanted to see if it was the POS people are saying it is before I plunked down cash for it. I seeded for a while but got nervous and shut it off. I hate being a leech but I can't afford to pay for privacy service. I do continue to seed the other torrents I've downloaded as I doubt they'll draw any interest from the powers that be. Maybe I'm wrong there, too.

One other question: The notice rosenshyne got says she can reactivate her connection once she's removed the M&G file from her computer. How can they tell whether she did or not, unless she resumed that specific torrent? Is Big Brother that big?

You can unplug your modem and wait a few minutes if you have DSL. If you have cable, It's not as easy. Try googling for more info about your modem or ISP and see if it's possible and how to do it. It's really not going to make much a difference if you do switch your IP, they keep records of who has what IP. If you've been caught, it's already too late.

As far as rosenshyne's notice, I highly doubt big brother is scanning her PC. They likely had bots out downloading torrents and picking up the IPs then just routing the IP to that page when they busted her. They will know if she didn't delete it if the bot finds her same IP seeding again.

You know what? We should all get together and make an Awesoma Guide, with all useful, accurate and USEFUL knowledge... (Enough useful? I THINK NOT! Useful, useful, awesomeradsauce information!)

Judging by your previous posts and avatar, I'd say "we" doesn't include you. You should have just cut to the chase and said "those more awesome than me".
81  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Experiment: Spanish Revival home for download on: 2009 June 10, 23:20:23
Thanks for this! I saw the screen shot you posted in one of these threads and loved the way the front was designed so I was going to attempt to recreate it in my game but now I can just download it. I have all the store crap installed so I wonder if it will apply your set patterns since it doesn't have to switch out objects. I'll test in a bit.
82  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD & SCRIPT HACKS: CRASH ISSUES THREAD on: 2009 June 10, 22:54:02
Why do you noobs keep littering this thread with the exception files? They are of no help because windows generated them, not the game.
83  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Bought game + crack = ? on: 2009 June 10, 09:44:20
There's no SecuROM in Sims 3. Don't let the game install the EA Download Manager when it asks, it's not needed and it apparently has SecuROM. If you're still paranoid, SecuROM isn't activated until the game is installed and you click the EXE to launch the game. If the original EXE is replaced with the crack before this is done, all is safe.
84  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The whole thing is becoming a big pain in the $%% on: 2009 June 10, 09:36:36
you know, I downloaded Riverview and installed it...and near as I can tell down to the sims and the stores it's the same. The only difference is topographical details...so if you want another neighborhood just clone sunset valley if you're loathe to deal with the download manager.

No? The sims are all different. There's also several new buy mode objects and new rabbit holes that come with it. It's a lot better than Sunset Valley in my opinion.
85  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Share pix / vidz of THE HORROR here on: 2009 June 10, 09:28:35
My sim self spawned this... thing. Confidence +1.

86  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Can you delete households from the library? on: 2009 June 09, 08:24:02
Really good stuff, then.  Riverview is packed with an absurd number of Sims.  The only thing keeping me from deleting them all is thinking I might be missing something cool that the devs put in.  Think there's any thought put into these Sims in the neighborhoods that would make them worth keeping for a playthrough?  I was close to deleting them all....I'm probably overestimating EAxis by even asking the question but, it looks like all of the Sims there have some sort of story or position.

Nope, they appear to all be auto generated by some tool as Sims 2 families seem to have been which is why half of them had screwed up family trees and memories or were missing data. I installed Riverview last night and immediately noticed all sims were standing outside their houses. Sure this could be the game just teleporting them there when you first start it for the sake of making sure everyones viewable when you play them but I smelt something fishy. On further inspection, I quickly realized they were fake robots. Take the Carpenters for example. I went to play them because the trailer hinted they were growing something special. Wrong. What I found was they had this huge ass regular boring garden. One just wonders how they managed to plant that entire garden and have zero garden skill. It all's auto generated and fake.

88  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Anyone with answer? on: 2009 June 08, 00:22:01
I saw numerous people on the sims 3 forum complaining about this. They all seemed to get the same email back saying the points were in their account when they really weren't. I then decided to do something for the lulz. I made a new account and logged into EA customer support. I told them I didn't get my points. Got the same exact email back from "Azuri"?? saying they were in my account. I replied with "O rly? but I haven't even registered a game." No reply back, no points either.  Cheesy
89  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: TS3 Collectors Edition Car on: 2009 June 08, 00:01:33
Well, I uninstalled and re-installed, and allowed it to install the download manager. and the launcher actualy started to work.
(when I tried to run it the other time, the launcher would nto work, but it does now that it has the DLmanager...yes, I know it is a nasty tool, but I worried that it wasnt working properly.)

Weird, I told it to shove the download manager during install and my launcher works just fine. It does error about not being able to connect to the manager when I 'Check for updates' but that's fine with me.

Now though, the files I grabbed from here are reading as failed to install, even with the Sim3Viewer...Probably something to do with the damn DLmanager.
I will see if I can find the non-command style versiopn of the Tool, and try and Fix them with it.

Command line tools can be intimidating, I know. This one isn't though because you can just drag and drop the sims3pack file right onto it and it automagically fixes it for you. I too got many of the files from here and some work and some need to be passed through the tool then they are fine.

91  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: TS3 Collectors Edition Car on: 2009 June 07, 03:43:12
I'm sorry to be a Noobie, but, does anyone know if it is possable to download on a machine you have not installed Sims3 on?
I do not trust EA and have for years, simply downloaded and transfered my items (and my few uploads) via a memory stick

(i simply DNW my online machine to get Suckrot. Yes, i hear that the bought version of Sim3 has no Suckrot, but i do not trust EA and their greedy ways, and expect they will try and sneak it or something similar onto my new machine with there blasted store)

I also, (perhaps foolishly) told the game not to install the launcher (assuming it might contain said Suckrot, since i have not had a chance to get on my online machine to read updates on THE HORROR ect)

My game Performs reasonably well, considering...however, I am entitald to my free car, my new heighbourhood and my pre-order Blue Mad Max 1 vintage car....must I sneak the game to work and install it on the Internet machine there to get the downloads they owe me?

Also...does anyone know how to make your custom items exportable without giving it to the exchange? I dont particularly think they deserve my (sometimes) hard work, but I would like to be able to share some of the things I make with the comunity...Do I need to get Pes's Tool to make the files uploadable or extractable?
(I will be getting the Tool, I just wondered if I missed the part where they told us how to do this)

Sure, just save the files to the memory stick and transfer them over. You either need to fix them with Pes's tool before saving them to the memory stick or stick the program on there with them and fix them on the offline machine.

You can't tell the game not to install the launcher, you told it not to install the EA Download Manager - two different things.

To export your custom items from the game, look for the Share button. It will export them to your My Docs~/Exports folder. You may or may not have to fix them with Pes's tool to make them usable, I believe only packages from the store are corrupted which his tool fixes.
92  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Poor Body Textures Outside of CAS on: 2009 June 07, 03:18:11
I just got around to installing Sims 3 for the first time....

Huh Is anyone else confused? You made this thread and hinted that you were playing but then you went and said this. Am I missing something?

And yes, I've noticed the same issue. The sims I made in CAS were good looking but once I got them into game I sat glaring at the screen wondering what the hell just happened. There's so much detail loss that they don't even look the same. I guess it is for the better though, CAS seems to be famous for making video cards over heat and the exceptional detail is likely the cause. If we had that in game, there would be more crashing and lag unless you had a super computer. Though it might not be higher detail, it could be the zoom and lighting. They really screwed up the lighting on this one. I have to have a million lamps in one room or it's so damn dark.
93  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Moar Whiny on: 2009 May 30, 02:25:51
1. Is there a way to change lot types without having to rebuild from scratch? Specifically, I would like to change a beach property I made into a non-beach property. After 2 full days of designing and building a property on the beach that I intended to be an apartment, I thought simply putting in the apartment doors would make it an apartment. Now that I've found the thread on MATY about changelotzoning, I also saw in the same thread that apartments and beaches don't mix. I dread having to rebuild the whole thing, so I was wondering if it was possible to do that through some sort of magical means. If not, guess I gotta suck it up.

There's a way to fix that and keep the apartment on a beach, if you want to go through the trouble: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=302405 If not, whats wrong with just going into the lot and changing the zoning back to residential and saving?

4. Is there a way to repair a family relationship connection? I moved a family from Pleasantview to a new 'hood I created, then moved their grown-up son and his family. After this, I discovered that the son no longer considers his parents to be, well, his parents. They no longer regard each other as family at all, just friends (after I rebuilt their friendship that is). I know you can manipulate relationship scores with testing cheats, but I can't find a way to artificially reconnect the two as family. Actually, I'd love to be able to do this anyway, since sometimes I later make a Sim that I want to be part of someone's family tree, like a sibling, or aunt/uncle, etc.

You aren't suppose to move families between neighborhoods. You've effectively ruined both neighborhoods by doing this. If you like to play with it till toddlers get wants to woohoo the mailman, you can fix their relations with SimPE.

5. The excessive autonomy talked about for families in Sims 3 may be okay with some people, but I despise it and it is one of the reasons I won't be buying it (shouldn't be a global). I hate it when any of my Sims do anything that I don't have control over, especially when it comes to relationships. However, it seems that I can't avoid it just by avoiding Sims 3; this aspect actually debuted in Apartment Life as I discovered yesterday. While playing one family in an apartment building, another family (they were two friends, nothing more) started autonomously making out on the playground and immediately fell in love (same sex to boot, but they have never been romantically involved with anyone, so their sex preference should default to opposite sex I would have thought). They NEVER did this under my control; in fact, they never even attempted to do it while I was playing them. Are there any hacks that address the autonomy of other families in apartment buildings (apartment autonomy creates other problems as well; see #6)? Or is the only solution to never place more than one of my own created families in any given apartment building? Also, is there a way to break this unauthorized romantic relationship without cheating on them or fighting, which will end up fulfilling a fear and/or creating a bad memory?

Are you certain the behavior you saw was not ACR created? I'm not sure if that works when they aren't the active family, I imagine so. Also there's a greeting or something introduced in AL that looks like making out (its creepy to say the least). I've noticed several of my sims doing this but it doesn't count as a romantic interaction.

8. Gah. F'ing apartments. Is this a known issue, or am I having some kind of conflict? The closets (not dressers) that EAxis put in the apartments seem to be bugged. If I accidentally click on one, it clears the queue of my Sims and they'll jump up/out/off from whatever/wherever they are. If they were showering, they pop out; if they were sleeping, they pop up and stand next to the bed. If I keep clicking on the closet, they keep changing directions and their little portraits keeps getting updated as if some change occurred. Sorry for non-awesome lingo like "popping," but that's the best I can do to describe what is happening.

I don't have this issue, sounds like tight pants.

9. What the hell is up with the creepy stalker chick that calls all of my Sims all of the time asking them to go hangout downtown, even though I've never met her (not to mention I haven't even built my downtown yet)? It's worse than Rod Humble. Is there a way to disable her? I'm not even sure what expansion she appeared with, but because of her, I now have turned off all the phones in every household, but this solution sucks since I never receive any other calls either. Of coure, that means I don't get the damn telemarketing calls either. Speaking of which, is there a hack that stops the stupid magazine offers?

For me, it's sims my sim has met that does this random downtown call. I wasn't aware they did it when you didn't have a downtown attached to the NH. Wonder what would result if you accepted that. It doesn't happen often at all in my game to annoy me.

Has anyone else noticed the "Hey guis! Lets all go out in the yards and stares at teh tomatoes plants!1"? I built a house across from the Bachelor's and every evening the entire fambly piles out of the house and just stares at the garden for hours then when it gets dark, its back inside. It's like they have cannabis planted and are frantically waiting for it to mature so they can feed their addiction!
95  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Technical problems with THE HORROR: downloading, installing, and running it on: 2009 May 28, 22:31:01
Well, I'm playing on a very low end ATI card (X1300 Pro) and it works fine but doesn't like shadows. I tried turning lighting and shadows up to medium, and while there was no lag, the shadows were liquid, literally. They didn't stay still, they had jagged edges that moved like water, from the picnic table to the roofs of buildings... so back down to low that goes. I also noticed sims didn't have shadows on terrain paint but did on sidewalks. It's alright, I can deal. I also have this slight issue where any object with glass in the game flashes. It wasn't doing that till I turned texture detail to medium. I have cars going down the street with the glass randomly appearing and disappearing. As long as there's no lag I will ignore it.
96  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Spyware removal: Halp? on: 2009 May 28, 22:05:56
Malwarebytes is great... if the virus doesn't disable it. I got a massive trojan a few months ago and it wouldn't let Malwarebytes install. In fact, I had to have a friend send them to me via MSN because I couldn't get any sites related to them to load, it even redirected google! Ad-aware would install but then wouldn't run (its a piece of crap but I was desperate). It basically crippled my entire PC and if I didn't have system restore enabled then a format would have been required. And yes, I did have an antivirus installed, Mcafee ftl.

rufio, did you see if your sims 3 installer had that codec wrapper thing? That could be what you got.
97  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 May 26, 08:42:35
I'm really starting to wish that there was a way to keep collections separate. Containers specifically for all seeds, all rocks, and all bugs would be very useful. Some sort of display for bugs would be neat, too - there's fish bowls for fish, so why not?

I also have a question pertaining to the law enforcement career track: how exactly do you write reports? I've questioned one sim and dug in the trash of two different families, and not once did the option to write a report show up. I checked both my sim's computer, his workplace, and options while he was at work - all nada. Does it require actually finding a sim guilty of something worth reporting on?

There is a display for bugs, I dragged a beetle out from inventory to the floor and it got it's own little display case thingy.

Also, it took me a bit to figure the second one out. I first greeted Bella and then did the 'Question' interaction. She said I was boring and wasn't having it. I said she was a overrated something or other and moved on. Next I went to harass her mother and she did the same thing. I figured they were just snobs but decided to keep at it. I did a few chat interactions and told her that her house looked lovely and then did the question interaction. It worked this time. He basically learned all her traits rapidly and then there was a 'Write a report on...' option under 'Writing' on his laptop. Silly Eaxis, real cops don't have to brighten peoples day before asking them questions.

My laptop's video card is a Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset

This. Enough said.

In other news, I have found out that leftovers transfer automagically between houses when you move. I have also found that it's way too easy to get someone in bed. It takes them forever to get to best friends but with one or two romantic interactions you are going at it like wild pigs! I miss turn ons and attraction, though it will probably be in the 3rd reincarnation of hot date. And that newspaper lies, it said some new fambly named McGreggor? I think... moved in but I can't find them. L&P!
98  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 May 25, 12:53:55

Ok I have no idea what a build is, so here are some stupid questions:

1. Does this mean we won't be able to patch the leaked game once the patch comes out?

2. What will happen to our saved games and exports? Could they be just copied over to final game's directories? Or will they be incompatible? I'm mostly interested in this, don't want to get involved if I won't be able to access my saves with final build.

Most likely you'll have to uninstall the leak, install the retail, then patch it. Of course we're going to have to wait for a cracked patched exe which may take awhile.

And I hope they work, I've built several houses and made a couple sims that I spent hours on and have played to great detail. I will strangle someone if they don't work. I believe they will because I doubt much is going to change in those newer builds.

In other news, man those ghosts sure do get around...

99  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 May 23, 23:03:56
Can someone tell me the control for changing the height of wall placements, i can't for the life of me remember  Roll Eyes

It's not possible sadly.

So while building last night I can say I am satisfied with the amount of objects in build / buy mode, it seems almost equal to Sims 2 base game. Regardless, CAS is seriously lacking. Building works almost exactly as Sims 2, with extra sparkles of course! I did notice the tool to place windows is overly sensitive as it bounces between up and downstairs too easily when you don't have floors in the upper level and also jumps walls too easily and results in that clicking noise repeatedly in your ear as it spazes out. Setting the width of the stairs is win, but why can't we recolor them? They harped about that tool for so many months. Using CAST on walls is win but it takes ages to find something you like. That tool is a bit overwhelming and I end up getting bored and just using craptastic default stuff.

Also, does anyone else have the issue where the round circle on top of the wall tool flickers? It annoyed me to no end.

Well my game was fine till I tried to build a house. I built the outside and got paranoid about crashing (perhaps that was a bad idea...) and exited to the edit town mode to save (which is a silly way to design it). It saved fine and then I went back in and did another hours worth of work, exited to edit town and hit save. All was fine for about 5 seconds when the game just folded on it's self and threw me back to desktop. I checked my save and it's only 5MB which basically means if it didn't create it's own backup file, my entire town would be gone right now.
