1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambitions Ghost Hunter - Missing spirit? on: 2010 June 05, 12:26:44
Okay, I think this was a bug. This was a one story house, though I checked under the foundation and looked for an attic, just in case. I left her on free will for a long time and no actions came up, but she's very good about getting her ghosts on her own. I think I found a bug. She got out of the house though, she faked fainting a couple of times and was fired for inappropriate behavior (just that house, not her profession) and walked away with smug satisfaction from acting in public.
2  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Ambitions Ghost Hunter - Missing spirit? on: 2010 June 04, 18:22:02
Okay, my ghost hunter is on a job, spirit invasion, and it requires catching five spirits. She's caught four, and there's no other spirit to be seen. What now?
3  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Missing merchants on: 2009 December 04, 02:27:22
I swear somewhere I ran into some information about missing merchants and some kind of fix for it in WA and I blew it off 'cause I didn't have the issue. Now I do and my searchfu fails me. Please help? One of my family members doesn't have merchants in Egypt when he travels. The other ones do. I'm too askairt to send others with him in hopes of curing the missing merchants, after all the opposite may happen and the merchants might poof for them as well.
4  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: No CD check not working on: 2009 November 11, 02:01:04
Ah I see logic has failed me again. I did think that "disabled" meant that the cd check was disabled. I have the fail.
5  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / No CD check not working on: 2009 November 10, 22:10:40
Okay, I tried to install AwesomeMod with the no-cd option before and couldn't get it to work so I just quietly gave up. Well now I want it again because of all the cd swapping my son is starting to do. I tried using helpermonkey and I tried using the framework. I moved the file around into different folders. Nope. Other parts of the mod will work. I have my shortcut set to the exe. What happens is the game loads, and then instead of letting me select a neighborhood, I get an error that no cd is found and "retry" or "cancel".

If this has been addressed, I can't seem to find it searching for disk or cd. One of the reasons I gave up in the past was I figured it was something that would be sorted out with time, but apparently it's just me with the issue.

What does talking do? It didn't seem to improve my fruit quality.

Oh, and the sprinklers will water your plants, you can even upgrade them to go off automatically. I include this information for other morons like myself that saw in the description that it was for playing in, and therefore passed over it many times.
7  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Stuck on business lot, and cheat file on: 2009 March 09, 16:40:16
Okay, I removed that line, and I was partially wrong but not fully. There are still cheats that are not working, and they happened to be cheats that I used to test the first time, only this time I tried others and they worked. I haven't gone through the entire list yet. For instance, "m+" works for moveobjects on but "m-" does not work for moveobjects off.

Right, leaving this open shows that further testing showed several other cheats are working, but not my moveobjects off. Since this was the line I used to test my cheats the very first time, and the two lines I continued to use in further experiments, obviously I used a line with a typo in it somewhere for my testing. I told you it was something stupid.

ETA - Right. It was the stupid capital "O" at the beginning of "off". Srsly. Pardon me while I crawl under a rock.
8  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Stuck on business lot, and cheat file on: 2009 March 09, 04:11:26
In the userStartup.cheat file, delete the line that says "CHEATFILE."

Actually, that is leftover from an experiment. When I first saved it, that line wasn't there, and somewhere google showed me a similar problem where someone reccomended putting that in, so I tried it and nothing changed. In other words, the file didn't work without it there either.

I used notepad, not word pad, to save it, I never associated the .cheat file with any programs to open it, and at one point I copied everything and pasted it into a new file and saved it again in case something got corrupted. I use save as so it never had .txt associated with it.

Did you try using the Magic Wand? The Magic Wand should, in theory, conjure the missing sim when you wave it about.

I sure did. Then I did it again. Then I tried saving with the wand box still in the lot and exiting to see if that would work. Then I deleted the box and waved it over every single square in the lot. Thankfully it was a small lot.

I have the sims now, just figured I'd reply so you knew it didn't work in my situation.
10  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Stuck on business lot, and cheat file on: 2009 March 09, 01:31:55
Okay, I managed to get the sims out. But there was a cat left in that appartment, and now there is an appartment (that I like) owned by a cat. Is that appartment doomed to be never played again? I used the sim cat teleporter thing. I like it better than the old bush. Nice to see that hacks have grown while I've been gone.

ETA - Never mind. Once I moved into a new lot I was able to summon the cat and move it in. Don't know why I couldn't before. Cheatfile still doesn't work, though.
11  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Stuck on business lot, and cheat file on: 2009 March 08, 21:32:27
I thought that was only when it wasn't in alias form? I had that problem with it too (way back when,) only I was able to use an alias okay. I'll try removing it though.

And I can't try anything on the debugger, because I have no sims. It's build/buy mode only on the business lot, and the home lot (an appartment) doesn't load.

ETA - removing the bugjar alias did nothing. Still broken.

Business Lot

After an eternity and a half of not playing, I'm starting a new hood. Actually, it only has two playable families. I put them on a business lot and they were going to go home after a day's work, but they kept shooing customers off of the lot, even though all the customers were gone. After a few sim hours passed, I broke the game. I stupidly put move objects on and deleted them, thinking they would be there when I loaded the lot. They weren't, and naturally I can't load the home lot either. So, I installed many hacks (all from the director's cut) hoping that would reset the family. That didn't help either the home or business lot. I loaded the other family, thinking I could invite them to move in (since the move and bulldoze tools did not work), and that family was indeed reset from the hacks. However, when invited over, the family that's borked did show up, only they refused to move in since they weren't saved on their home lot.

I did try the magic wand, I waved the thing over every inch of the lot. Nothin'.

I would  delete the hood, since it only has two families, but the families made it all the way through University, to the top of their careers, and the business was level 9. I just don't want to do that again if I don't have to.

Any ideas?

Cheat File

I can't seem to get my new cheat file to work, any clues as to why not? It's attatched. I keep it in the config folder. It's been so long since I made one, I can't figure out why it won't work. I'm sure the reason is as equally idiotic as deleting sims on a business lot.
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nvidia driver reccomendations? on: 2008 October 25, 20:52:34
Wow, that's convenient. That's the one on my disk.
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Nvidia driver reccomendations? on: 2008 October 25, 17:46:38
I thought it was just my son's new game, kept locking up my computer and showing graphic errors. Well, I just tried to play the sims and I got the same thing, so it's not just his game. This will not do. I have a new video card, Nvidia GEforce 8500 GT. I hope it's not just the card is crap, I seem to recall playing the sims on this card, but I didn't play very long. Later I updated the drivers to fix my son's game, but it could be that both drivers were crap for that game.

The point. I remember I had problems with a certain driver released by nvidia with Sim City. I had to roll back to an older driver with that game, then the newest driver for every other game I had because they wouldn't run on the older drivers. Pain in the ass, but I got to play, right?

Anyone have an nvidia 8000 series card? What driver series do you have that seems to work well?
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Can you rent an apartment with a table in it? on: 2008 September 01, 19:30:40
Well crappers. Any ideas on why apartment A served food to everyone, God and God's dog while B didn't? Lot B did have a common picnic area, only it's the bbq from vacation instead of the one with the base game. The landlord still throws parties in the common area.
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Can you rent an apartment with a table in it? on: 2008 September 01, 17:25:30
In other words, if you build an apartment and put a table in it, when you change the zoning, does the table disappear or stay? In other other words lot A was a row house complex that came with the game. Sim A moves in and serves food all over the damn place. Lot B is one I built, loosely based off of the row house lot. Sim B moved into Lot B. Sim B serves food to only him and his roomate. I much prefer this and am trying to figure out why.
My theory is that if you build a lot with a table in place and change the zoning, this flicks a switch in the objects to make them stay when you move in. Those that can't switch over vanish. So if a table can stay and be rented, something in it has been changed to make it associated with the lot, then a sim looking for a table will go to all the lot tables. But if a sim buys a table, it is not lot associated, but household associated. So the sim uses their own table.
Since I don't remember if a table came with Lot A, then I realize I could be wrong entirely.

Did you install the patch? As in, did the patch break you?
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Can't delete custom content on: 2008 April 04, 13:28:12
Sorry for the late reply, only have internet on campus. However, the issue has seemed to resolve itself, in an odd way. Somehow, I think by changing the folder properties I can now delete items in the game using the interface (at least last night I could, tonight, who knows?) but I still can't delete directly from my downloads folder (thanky ZZ, for noticing that I have the ability to find it...)
Hey, you know what would be funny? Make a totally bogus page about the orgin of April Fool's day and then post it.
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Can't delete custom content on: 2008 March 31, 20:05:20
Sure did. Even rebooted.
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Can't delete custom content on: 2008 March 31, 18:19:38
I searched, I swear. I'm positive I can't be the only person with this problem, but my schedule doesn't allow much time to keep up with the bugs (I live so dangerously now, playing Free Time with NO idea what's going on...)
Anywhoo, I can't delete custom content. Like, "I don't like this chair, I never used it, BEGONE!" doesn't happen. So the first time this happens I think "Hmm, the downloads folder must be read-only." Sure enough, it was. So I switch it back, watch it apply to all subfolders and files. Play again, and again "BEGONE CHAIR!!" does not happen. So I look, the folder reverted to read only. So I change the EA parent folder to writable, and IT reverts! Rebooting, telling it to be read only and then trying to change to writable, voodoo, sacrifices to the pagan gods, nothing works.
Cure me, please!
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Water balloons getting on my nerves on: 2007 September 10, 15:41:45
I searched and failed. Is there a hack that kills the water balloon play? There is a slight lag before it begins, normally not very annoying. Now my sims are on week long vacations though, and the lots are full of non-busy sims thinking hitting complete strangers with a condom full of water is a great idea, the lag is seriosly grating.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Sims appearing on lot after a phone call. on: 2007 July 03, 14:02:48
Perhaps this has been discussed, but I can't find it and am short on time. I have sims appearing on the lot after my resident sims finish talking to them on the phone, is this a hack that needs to be updated, or game glitch? Only noticed it after seasons, have the latest phone hack.
23  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Floating Pancakes Fix on: 2007 June 01, 16:23:52
Well, call me OCD too because if I had the time to change it, the first thing I would change is the pool table. Tward the end of the game this little blue ball jiggles a little and changes position after each turn until it's sunk. A couple of the other balls move a little as well. Bothers me.
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Someone's stealin doodads! (invisible/borked glowyspinny overhead thingers) on: 2007 May 02, 14:07:00
How long has this been happening? Like, since you installed seasons, or updated a graphics driver, or entirely reinstalled your game removing all documents, anything like that?
Try putting the shaders cheat in your startup file.
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Kitty Condo on: 2007 May 02, 14:03:18
I want Virgil. He reminds me of my old Bernard. Bernard used to corrupt my grandpa's well behaved dog. It was great.
