76  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: "grab hand" in Sims 3 glitching on: 2009 December 08, 18:04:29
Well most of my problems with grabbing/moving/rendering items began when I installed a basement on my lot. I have also long suspected that most of my problems are because I'm playing the largest buildable lot available in Sunset Valley and the house and garden, etc. is all just huge so there's lots and lots of 'stuff' and the game just can't deal all that well with that much 'stuff'. And no that's not technical speak...
77  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: So you married a famous sim...why can't you stay in bed? on: 2009 December 08, 17:58:37
Well the separate bedroom route is the way I went with my particular sim. Actually, I drowned him. And I didn't check his inventory first and he had a stupid DEATH FLOWER in his possession, so Grimmy spared him. That's when I went to separte bedrooms.  And now he's the 'breadwinner' for the household since the elder male passed on from old age (this is actually the very first time I've ever played self-sims and dummy me made hubby and myself and now he's gone and I'm going shortly from old age myself - hubby had a good laugh when he watched over my shoulder as he haunted the house and scared our 'great-grandson').

Well I reset him and everyone still flocks to him like he's Elvis Presley returned from the dead. I think he may die a premature death...just because I'm tired of this
79  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / So you married a famous sim...why can't you stay in bed? on: 2009 December 04, 17:08:50
I have a sim who has completed lifetime want of becoming movie soundtrack composer (music: symphonic branch).  He has a wife, adult child with husband and child and his in-laws all living under same roof with him. They are all in awe of him.

I can give them actions in their queues and while they don't drop the actions, between each one they run to whatever room of the house HE is in - apparently in awe of his mere presence and then they run back to do whatever action I had queued for them.

And the wife?  If she goes to bed before he does, then he gets in bed, she has to get up, make the bed, stand there in awe of HIM and then go back to bed. Doesn't matter how tired she is. So I have to make sure he gets in bed before she does, or she doesn't get a decent night's sleep.

I am sure he is going to have to die... unless, does this go away when he retires as an elder? I might could live another couple sim weeks with it if I knew he'd return to normal upon retiring...

I do that, too, oh fearless leader. I guess I just love throwing money around...  Kiss
81  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: WA outside lighting issue on: 2009 November 26, 20:11:16
I've had serious  issues with lighting in this game from day one... Yay. A new feature to make me moar frustrated with the stupid lighting. I haven't built any new lots since installing WA and now I know why.
82  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Well, well, THIS is a surprise... on: 2009 November 26, 20:05:48
um, isn't this all lies and propaganda?

I think I've finally come to my senses...no more of my money will be given to EA until they figure out how to release something that doesn't need at least 3 patches, a patch to fix the patch and still won't run correctly - oh yeah - and I'm boycotting until we gets a piano.
83  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Beta Testing 1.7.9/WA 2.2.8 Problems/Questions/Discussion on: 2009 November 26, 20:00:49
indeed, I had to do some moving about myself, but finally got things to work for my game. One of the idiosyncracies of Windows - no load is ever the same on any two computers...you really don't wanna hear my Java horror stories.
84  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Beta Testing 1.7.9/WA 2.2.8 Problems/Questions/Discussion on: 2009 November 26, 05:30:48
WA makeup doesn't appear with Awesomemod installed in CAS.
Be more specific. I don't know what WA makeup is. How do I look for it, and where it is SUPPOSED to be?

It's eyeliner for the most part - Egyptian. The icons are the orange shaded ones like other EP content has...I haven't been in CAS to know if it's missing. I do know it's available if you change appearance in a mirror in game.
85  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Beta Testing 1.7.9/WA 2.2.8 Problems/Questions/Discussion on: 2009 November 26, 00:45:03
Am I also correct in my thinking that in spite of having a gig of RAM and 4 processors in my computer, the reason why the game has become slower than molasses at rendering everything is also EAxian in nature?  I have discovered that basements cause lots to have their items rendered with no prints...hmmm...I'm SURE that's not AM.

If you really only have "a gig of ram", you need more ram to run WA. You really shouldn't be pairing any quad core CPU with 1GB RAM.

I really should never quote the specs on my own computer (I just run 'em, hubby builds 'em).  I have FOUR gig of RAM, quad core phenom processor and dual 512mg video cards - this comes from hubby, not the computer dummy (me).

exactly as I thought.

This is just another example of EA releasing a buggy piece of software and then expecting you to clean it up. I don't know how you keep doing it...and I'm still not sure why I keep attempting to play it.
87  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Beta Testing 1.7.9/WA 2.2.8 Problems/Questions/Discussion on: 2009 November 25, 22:13:24
just downloaded latest version (about 2 hours ago) - sent a sim to France - she is unable to complete an adventure. She accepts adventure but when she attempts to talk to another sim about the adventure (to get orders or to deliver items) she completes the talking portion of the action but does not register the action as completing that portion of the task nor does she deliver goods out of her inventory.

As I've only ever sent one other family member (matriarch of the clan) on a vacation (to Egypt) where that family member was able to complete several adventures, I am wondering if this is EAxian in nature or not (I suspect it may be).

The other thing that happened with this sim but not her mother, was that her needs were permanently stuck - all but fun at mostly green, fun about 2/3 green.

Am I also correct in my thinking that in spite of having a gig of RAM and 4 processors in my computer, the reason why the game has become slower than molasses at rendering everything is also EAxian in nature?  I have discovered that basements cause lots to have their items rendered with no prints...hmmm...I'm SURE that's not AM.

hoping this doesn't break the board (it's a tad wide)... flagrant system error message. I don't know if it's important or not, so I captured it for your perusal.

89  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Beta Testing 1.7.9/WA 2.2.8 Problems/Questions/Discussion on: 2009 November 24, 19:02:19
hmmm...I have the 1 a.m. crashing.  I've always used AM (my only mod) with story drivers disabled and the EAxian story driver individual changes enabled (hope that makes sense)...and crashed to desktop at 1 a.m.

So I went and made a new config file - story drivers both disabled and EAxian story driver individual bits all disabled. Still crashes to desktop at 1 a.m.

Next idea? (edited to add... I enabled awesomestorydriver - no more 1 a.m. crash to desktop...). THANKS, oh fearless leader. Things are pretty smooth at this point...my only complaint lies with EA, not with AM...I am sure of this.

I dunno... I am pretty sure I need popcorn to watch this thread...really entertaining stuff here.

91  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod and Expansion Pack not compatible on: 2009 November 18, 17:47:34
game's not worth playing without AwesomeMod, if you ask me, so I am waiting patiently... I swears...well as patient as I ever get...
92  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 1.5/1.6 Patch warning! on: 2009 November 17, 20:13:32
I talked with hubby while he was home for lunch... and he said something that has me wondering...

My game had already been updated to the 1.6 patch...then all of a sudden after installing WA it redownloaded and updated again to 1.6... and hubby had to wonder if in the last 12 hours or so they've already rejiggered the 1.6 patch (in other words this is 1.6 version 2)...

Of course, EA won't ever admit to such a thing...kind of makes me wonder if some of EA's employees used to work at eBay (motto: if we keep 'em in the dark and don't say anything then it never really happened).
93  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 1.5/1.6 Patch warning! on: 2009 November 17, 19:29:58
Installing World Adventures caused my game to REdownload the patch.

I then made a copy of my existing family and opened the game with the Mods folder still out of the game...(so no AwesomeMod and no custom content from that folder in game).

I have sound and sims can move freely, etc.  I basically did a quick op-check and shut the thing off.

I'll play again for 'real' when AM is updated...until then...(and I'm going to attempt to wait patiently)...

Someone noted last night elsewhere on the www that the patch doesn't seem to function properly without WA installed. I tend to think this may indeed be the case, at least for me.
94  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 1.5/1.6 Patch warning! on: 2009 November 17, 19:08:23
I cannot imagine the complexities of having to fix Awesome Mod to work with both this patch and WA...appreciate your efforts because the game just isn't worth playing without AM.

I am currently installing WA...arrived about a half hour ago...I don't know whether to thank the UPS guy or curse him...

I have removed my Mods folder from the game for install.

I am going to start the game and check for sound. If I have sound, I'm shutting the game off and waiting for AM to be made workable with the latest patch and WA expansion pack.

If I have no sound? Maybe it's a sign from above that it's time for me to find something else to occupy my evenings?
95  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 1.5/1.6 Patch warning! on: 2009 November 17, 17:28:08
I don't fool with music in game. In fact, I have the music muted in game.

I removed awesome mod.

Game will eventually load, but takes a very long time compared to prior to installing patch.

I have no sound whatsoever.

Game will not get past initial loading screen with awesome mod installed.

My WA should arrive today. Will install with AM removed when I have it in my hot little hands. If I still have no sound...I'm done.  Oh and I run no other hacks, but do have a bunch of custom content.
96  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Sim 3 Patch Notes Realeased 1.5/1.6 verison on: 2009 November 17, 04:41:03
Crashes to desktop on loading with current version of Awesome Mod installed.

Removed awesome mod and the game finally loaded after an insufferably long time (about 20 minutes from start to in home), but I have NO sound whatsoever.

So DO NOT update if you can help it.  Looks like EA is going to have to patch the patch... and I'm done until someone figures it all out.

The Computar Fund sounds worthwhile as your minions need to be able to provide fast, efficient service. We all stand to benefit by that. I am less convinced about the need for beer, unless it is for the minions to help them work.

Beer helping minions work?  There is something really wrong with that statement. In my experience, the moar beer consumed by minions, the LESS work you get out of 'em... no beer until the minions have finished their assigned tasks.
98  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Deadly Ghosts on: 2009 September 01, 21:54:44
thanks for clarifying that...and I'm not even sure how it is that they have cars available to them as when my elder sims have died, their possessions go to closest relative on the lot. At least so far...

lately have been playing a Riverview lot and haven't seen a single ghost driving a car so far, which does not hurt my feelings.
99  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: sim in mailbox on: 2009 September 01, 20:56:37
If it were possible, I'd make it so unlucky sims could get their ARMS MAULED OFF by things LIVING in the mailbox.
I can see the pop up now:
"Do you want to check the mail box? Just remember, it's dark in there, your hand may be eaten by a Grue."

No no...it'd be like the box that made the excruciating pain that the Reverend Mother used in Dune...

I have given tribute from my puny paypal balance (I've obviously been lacking in my offerings to the eBay Gods of late)...

Just because I could not have played the Sims2 then or the Sims3 now without the mod(s) from here. In fact, my donation may have been entirely because of my utter appreciation for several years of fairly blissful playing of Sims2 thanks to the 'nobuskers' hack alone...
