51  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Please Help Me Figure Out My Sims Folder on: 2010 January 21, 16:01:48
well your downloads installed via the launcher aren't as readily available as they were in Sims2. There's a thread around here somewhere about DBC files. THOSE are your launcher installed custom content files.

So you're literally looking for something that doesn't exist. And if you're getting messages that the file is already installed, that's something that started with the latest patch (it occurs when you install EA store stuff).
52  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: EADM failure... on: 2010 January 21, 15:57:41
welcome to my world.

Don't know what operating system you're using, but the EADM is not compatible with Windows 7. EA even as much as says this on their site.

What I do as a work around is to manually OPEN the EADM (leave an icon on the desktop for easy access if you don't mind it cluttering the place up). THEN open the launcher. Then you don't get the annoying and whiny pop-up that the EADM cannot connect to the internet.

or get rid of it altogether and go with something that isn't a resource hog and the viruses aren't written to disable.
54  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Feed an omni plant are phail on: 2010 January 11, 20:39:55
been a couple weeks since I played a sim with enough gardening skill and the opportunity completed to have omni plant seeds, but up until that point, I never had any trouble feeding the plants...and now, since I've got a clean install of everything, it'll be a while before I have omni plant seeds I can have a sim plant.

But, I do have backed up saves of my old games where there are sims with planted omni seeds... so if Pes needs those, I suppose I could upload and supply them...oh wait. I have to install wsftp yet, too. Better add that to the list.
55  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: MOVING DAY POLL! on: 2010 January 11, 20:31:44
Definitely a 'you get what you pay for' kind of thing... it's why I didn't go the 'cheapo' route when I got my own website.

I don't mind tossing a few bucks into the hat earlier rather than later...if it weren't for AM, I wouldn't even bother installing the game.
56  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: What're the odds? 8 births, 8 male infants on: 2010 January 11, 05:37:23
Oh my, but this has been a 'lost weekend' and I don't mean a booze haze, either.

He did it. Put Windows 7 on - new hard drive with faster something or other and more space than I'll ever use and a bigger power supply...then last night I installed the game.

Big mistake. BIG mistake. Took me forever to get awesome mod working and my custom content to show up. Coconnor if you're reading this, I apologize. Said some dirty words...but in the end, it all works.

But slower? I thought this was supposed to make things faster. pfft.

Now to install quickbooks and turbolister and get back to work.

Oh yeah, I abandoned my old neighborhoods - I am still having issues with custom content as sims3packs (they won't install) and so the only custom content I'm left with is package files...so the old neighborhoods would be borked, so they are gone.

And thanks for the names! I just finished reading "The Sunrise Lands" so I have lots of unusual but cool names to use now!

edited to fix stupid typos
57  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: What're the odds? 8 births, 8 male infants on: 2010 January 09, 07:09:46
May all be moot anyway, as I apparently have a dying computer and hubby wants to do the dreaded 'scrape and reload' this weekend, but with a twist - Windows 7 and that likely means I'll need a newer version of quickbooks. eww. eww. eww.

Anyway, I could save the neighborhood files, but why bother when this one is just bound and determined to be all male...funny, but I have a friend who would prefer it that way - he's not happy with sims3, still playing sims2 - more kink available via mods.
58  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: What're the odds? 8 births, 8 male infants on: 2010 January 08, 21:53:38
yup, nine for nine...all boys.

The current female sim I'm playing is natural cook, green thumb, hopeless romantic, neat, and oh I can't remember the 5th one - probably either flirty, friendly or charismatic...as I tend to use those a lot in created sims.

I'm running out of good boy names (and don't bother suggesting any, because by 'good' I mean 'slightly different' - last two were named Anker and Delman so guess I'm on a Scandinavian kick this week).
59  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: What're the odds? 8 births, 8 male infants on: 2010 January 08, 07:04:43
I tried it with the latest birth, no luck - still a boy, so I think that the threads on the other section of this board (the strategy part) are right - determined at conception unless changed if a 'doctor' tells you the sex...too bad I don't have a doctor in this version of Riverview as of yet.

And my latest victim, er, knocked up sim, got that way on vacay in China with her hubby, so we'll see if I'm going for male baby #9 next time I play...
60  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: What're the odds? 8 births, 8 male infants on: 2010 January 07, 22:56:01
11? I'd have killed 'em off long before that...in fact, I kinda miss being able to kill sims so easily... some of them just vex me to no end.
61  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: What're the odds? 8 births, 8 male infants on: 2010 January 07, 22:48:21
Actually, for at least two of the pregnancies, I let the mothers to be eat nothing but watermelon - including 'raw' whole fruit watermelon as well as meals cooked with watermelon so that just adds to the strangeness of it.
62  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / What're the odds? 8 births, 8 male infants on: 2010 January 07, 22:29:25
I started a new Riverview neighborhood about a week ago... have seeded the neighborhod with several families, but mostly have just played 2.  One family was two sisters. They each spawned two boys - all with different fathers. Odd, but okay. Then one of their sons married a girl I made just for the occasion...and she had two boys. So that's six males spawned, no females, all on same lot. So then I had one of the other sons marry another sim I created  and moved off the lot. They had...wait for it...a son.

So decided to try a whole new scenario - made a married couple in CAS, moved them to a new lot, built 'em a house and let 'em get pregnant - and she just had a son.

And in checking around the neighborhood in the edit town mode, I've realized that there've been no female babies born, not even to townies. The only females in the game are the ones I've created in CAS. There have been only male children born to townie families and CAS created families that I've placed but don't actively play.

Just what's going on in this instance of Riverview? And has anyone else encountered this.
63  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patterns from the Exchange: Is there a solution? on: 2010 January 06, 00:13:17
Unless something has changed over at the exchange, all exchange patterns are simply someone's recolors of patterns already in the game, so just recolor 'em yourself?

I haven't had any problems getting patterns installed as package files to show up. I have had some problems with patterns created using TSR's tool. Some will install. Some won't. I suspect it has to do with the version of the TSR tool the pattern creator used.

My solution is to pretty much no longer install new patterns. Which is something of a hardship, but I think I'll survive.
64  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Bugs in WA on: 2010 January 06, 00:09:54
I don't think you caused it. I use custom hairs from Peggy and Rose and both switch to whatever EA hair they were based off when showering, bathing or wearing the martial arts outfits.

And not to be a broken record but is the kids all being a bunch of truants who won't stay in school part of the WA whackness, too? I suspect it is.
65  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: leftovers and the handofgod on: 2009 December 21, 23:00:24
I play with it on for obvious reasons and have discovered that the easiest thing to do is to just either let the hand of God do its thing, or beat it to the punch and drag serving platters into the fridge immediately and then have family members 'eat leftovers'... the only drawback to this is that if there are visiting sims, they cannot partake in a meal.  For parties I use the buffet table which seems to work much better than having sims all gaggle around the serving platter and then get stuck because another sim is in the way...
66  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: New 'bug' with patch 1.8? on: 2009 December 19, 23:30:30
they are also standing to watch TV. If you want them to SIT and watch TV you must first direct them to sit, then queue 'watch TV"... And there is an awful lot of standing and eating going on at my house as well, never mind there are 8 comfy chairs around a nice table in the kitchen.
67  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.8/2.3 plus Create a World Released on: 2009 December 17, 06:12:48
I followed coconnor's instructions to the letter - all my custom content showed up...

I'm not too worried about non-EA store sims3pack files at this point - I've noticed I'm not downloading much of anything lately - regardless of file type...game just takes too long to load/render/etc. as it is and if I stuff it full of CC it's likely to implode.
68  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.8/2.3 Released - CAW Out on: 2009 December 16, 23:32:54
well I don't think the vanilla players are very happy either as I currently cannot access the official forums...like that would provide anything other than mildly amusing entertainment...so then I went and checked TSR...amazingly quiet over there...almost like a ghost town, actually...

And when Pes said "Dark Sorcery & Eldritch Chicanery' first thing popped into my head was PK Dick...so does one need LSD to make it work? I hope not.

I am waiting until the "all clear" is given...I don't care how long it takes. I'm not having EA screw my game up ever again.
69  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.8/2.3 Released - CAW Out on: 2009 December 16, 21:30:44
oh goodie - it broke Pes's game? I ain't touchin' it with a 10 foot pole... guess I'm completely off my sims3 addiction until AM is updated to fix what the patch broke (and very heavy sigh over that being necessary). I may have to attend one of those 12 step addiction program meetings.
70  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Once again: I broke it. Yus I did. on: 2009 December 16, 18:29:50
hair in a subfolder shouldn't make any difference, doesn't in my game.

I have the framework installed in both the sims3 directory and the WA directory, but all the folders with the files are under Sims3 - no problems doing it that way.
71  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Getting a new computer - advice needed! on: 2009 December 16, 18:22:09
well, I'd rather have too much power supply (and way too many fans to keep everything cool) than an inadequate power supply...and so many times pre-builts come with inadequate power supplies...probably why hubby prefers to build 'em himself.
72  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Error codes 12 and 13 along with crashing. on: 2009 December 16, 18:20:02
error code 16 was fixed by an EA update...so you're playing a non-updated game...

Error code 12 continues to plague my game...generally I can have 3 saves and on the 4th save, I get error code 12...I suspect it's a memory leak (don't know whether to blame the game or windows as they both leak like sieves).

The only good I can tell you that has come from this is that I play for a much shorter period of time now - which has made my hubby extremely happy...dinner's on the table when it ought to be, etc.
73  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Help! My game's screwed up on: 2009 December 16, 18:16:10
Oh my...I got that once...it's pretty much the BFBVFS for your neighborhood as far as I know.

I uninstalled the game and reinstalled clean - did not even attempt to save any neighborhoods as I decided to go 'minimal' with my reinstallation of custom content.

The one piece of advice I can offer here is that from the point I reinstalled, I have never used the town names as the game file names. I've been using a totally different naming system and always 'save as' so I can always go back in time to a previous point in the neighborhood when things were fine if need be.
74  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Getting a new computer - advice needed! on: 2009 December 15, 20:03:42
another vote for Newegg.  My current computer came from there... and I just ordered hubby's Christmas present from there (a kit and some extra parts as he likes to build 'em himself).

Trustworthy site, very good prices and pretty much everything you'd ever want for a gaming computer. You probably don't want what my hubby calls 'bleeding edge' parts (as in brand new), but the stuff that's newish will do you just fine.

Re video cards...I've had no problems with my Radeons - do NOT get onboard video. I repeat...whatever you get, NO onboard video. You will not be happy if you do.
75  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Pudding Pups to pee and dig holes in your Play d'Eau 'hoods? on: 2009 December 12, 16:24:27
I don't know that any of it matters to me any more. I'm so not happy with the game since installing WA that I think I may have finally reached Sim Overload and be done with this expensive time-waster after all.
