151  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV and no CD? on: 2007 September 08, 23:24:01
As I mentioned in my previous post that won't work if you don't have daemon tools pro. I am using a older version on purpose. I tried 1.4.7 and even downloaded d-tools pro and it STILL wouldn't work without a nocd crack. Trust me, I tried *everything*. This was the only thing that worked for me. Actually, a bunch of people on the site have only gotten it to work this way. And the error that jsalemi reported about a security module was the same error that I got (even with 1.4.7), so I bet she has the same problem that I had.

I'm using DT 4.09.1 and Yasu 1-4-7080. The only problem I ran into is that you have to install YASU.exe into the DT program files folder.

Yasu 1.4.7080 summarily rejected my attempts to run even within the d-tools folder. A message popped up saying "Cannot find DaemonToolsPro.dll".
152  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New BV Turn ons/offs on: 2007 September 08, 23:08:45
I like the new turn ons a lot! There is also one unexpected feature included with all of these new turn ons. You know how we always complain about how easy the game is? Well, not so much in the romance department. Finding a 3 bolter looks like a difficult task. Out of my two test families the four teen and older sims had at most one sim with a single bolt. Two of the adults didn't meet anyone that they had a bolt for at all. No one got two or more bolts for another sim. And I was making them talk to every person on every lot to test this. Finding your true love shouldn't be easy, and it won't be anymore. The poor romance sims are going to have a hell of a time, though. Although this applies to negative bolts, too. The highest number of anti-bolts (I don't know what else to call them) that any of my test sims got for another sim was 1.

I have only tested this with four sims over less than a sim week so far so please don't take this as fact. Do your own testing if you'd like. I will continue mine and let anyone know of updates. Also, the turn on/offs themselves should make a difference in this, and apparently the location. I have heard that each vacation area has some defining characteristics, for example high creativity in the locals in the far east vacation subhood. I don't know if this has been confirmed yet.

Any thoughts?

Use Y.A.S.U v1.4.7080, that's what I'm using with BV

As I mentioned in my previous post that won't work if you don't have daemon tools pro. I am using a older version on purpose. I tried 1.4.7 and even downloaded d-tools pro and it STILL wouldn't work without a nocd crack. Trust me, I tried *everything*. This was the only thing that worked for me. Hmm, ok.  Did EAxis change the type of anti-copy they use?  Something other than Safedisk now?

I made a mds/mdf image, as I usually do.  Maybe the image is bad.
No matter, I'll start it with the CD for now, and then make another image before I call it a night. Thanks for the no-cd crack!

They have beefed up their copy protection. They are using secu-rom now. I have d-tools set up to emulate securom. At first I thought that my image was borked too, but I remade it twice from the CD and torrented two other ones. With all four image files I had the same problem and the same error message. This isn't the first time that I've set up an image for a TS2 EP. I also did it with Seasons and it worked fine with just YASU+Daemon Tools.

Edited because I apparently don't pay attention to sigs.
154  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV and no CD? on: 2007 September 08, 22:14:55
I know how to fix this because I used the exact same method that you did! Yay! Here's what you do!
1. Get a no-cd crack. Hey! How did one get into my 4shared account? And here is a post patch 1 version of the nocd crack. Back up your original TS2ep6.exe in Program Files/EA Games/The Sims 2 Bon Voyage/TSBin. Replace with no cd crack. I also made a shortcut to stick on my desktop for convenience at this point.
2. Mount .iso in daemon tools.
3. Procure YASU 1.27. 1.4 will only work if you have D-Tools Pro, which I don't have and is not necessary for this job.
4. Run YASU and select "Cloak Drives"
5. Double click on the cracked .exe and the game will run. W00t!

Edited to fix links.
Edited to add patch 1 version of cracked exe.

I believe that will prevent strays from digging holes in your yard.
156  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Empty and Cleaned-up Templates. [UPDATED] on: 2007 September 08, 20:12:40
Are templates just for the playable sims going to be made for Riverblossom and the 'stealth' neighbourhood Seasons dumps on you, as well as clean template with just the playable sims for Bon Voyage going to be made?

I don't mind the playable sims. I just can't stand the townies EAxis made.

There already is an empty template for the Season's stealth hood. In the first post on this thread cleverly called "Empty Seasons Template" in very large letters.
For the Bon Voyage thing I am sure that someone will make an empty template. The game did just come out and I imagine that this takes a lot of effort. We should all appreciate the hard work that SaraMK put into this and her genorosity in sharing it with all of us.

There is a workaround that I have tested to remove all of the unwanted character files that the Bon Voyage stealth hood puts into your game. Pescado taught me this in chat the other day, so he gets full credit for this. I am merely the messenger. I have tested this and everything seems to be working fine so far.
1. Back up N0XX folder. Pay attention to how many suburbs you have attached (suburb01, suburb02)
2. Go into the game and enter the hood. The stealth vacation hood will be created. You'll see somewhere around 60 new character files appear (ZOMG!)
3. Exit the game
4. Go into N0XX folder and delete everything except for Suburb0X (the newest, in my case this was suburb03.package). Replace everything with the backup.

When you add an actual vacation subhood it will add another 14 or so characters. I have NOT TESTED this, but in theory it should work. The only changes that you would make would be to NOT replace the LOTS folder from your backup and to NOT delete the vacation0X.package. I am going to test this a bit today, but I cannot guarentee that it won't break your hood. You might want to do the second part on a test hood before actually attempting it on a hood you care about.
157  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV: Anybody Updating These Abandoned Mods? on: 2007 September 08, 19:46:09
Squinge's PregnancyWearAnyOutfit works for me with just the maxis clothes and these pregnancy enabled body meshes. Tested it out with Brandi Broke, so she is useful for something. Wink
Those meshes are awsome. I stopped using Squinge's hack when he stopped making it compatable with inteen. If you use those meshes and the wardrobe mode from insim, it works pretty much the same way - except you need to change back into "everday" each trimester. Of course, insim needs to be updated too, now.

Jordi has an inteenimated version of the Squinge pregwearanyoutfit mod in his section on the inteen forum. Obviously the kitten killer is not BV compatible yet, but once it's updated I imagine that Jordi will update as well.
158  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims don't seem to die correctly on: 2007 September 08, 18:18:53
Another note, perhaps you simply prefer to do it this way, but there is no need to make NPCs with the townie tree; they will be created as needed (even with antiredundancy, this hack just limits the number of NPCs it doesn't prevent them). Of course you might prefer to tweak the gender of certain NPCs for storytelling reasons so maybe that's why you used the tree. There is no harm in doing it by this method, as far as I know. It's just an extra step.
159  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: L&P: Bug Deadpool on: 2007 September 08, 10:07:08
You know how Sims tend to halt all current actions and reset to having all motives except bladder at full (bladder being at half full) when you install a new EP or patch? Yeah. That's happening every time I close the game and re-enter a lot later on. >=(

I believe the word you were searching for is "reset".  Smiley
The thing is that this isn't happening to anyone but you, and you are testing a number of hacks. This is not a Maxoid bug. In fact, I doubt that it is a bug at all. I bet after you close the game (or before you open it again the next time) you're updating your hacks. Some hacks will cause a reset when installed. If this is not the case then you probably have some sort of hack conflict. If it does turn out to be a conflict then I am sure that you already know how to find the cause, but if you need any help I'd be happy to offer it.
160  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 08, 05:31:24
Thanks I am going to try this, do you use the free one or the "free" one that you get if you sign up for one of their offers?

I'm using the actually free one. I don't have money to burn spending 65 bucks at the gap to get a "free" firewall.

Lag: Just an observation. I was playing with my firewall settings. I noticed that the Sims 2, each EP, Bodyshop, Homecrafter, and a couple Sims-related sub programs were set to always allow (no entry for EP6...just the launcher, which I'd blocked before and the game worked). Well, there's no reason that anything but EALink needed the 'net, right? So I blocked 'em all. Game wouldn't load. I just got a never-ending black screen. Putting all back to allow fixed it.
Now why would it not work unless one of the EPs or the basegame is trying to dial home and it's getting pissed at my firewall blocking it?

Strange, mine isn't throwing a fit about being blocked.

Another note: Since I added most of my 1 gig of CC the lag has increased, but it's not too bad. Another thing to help with the lag is to go into your processes and set TS2ep6.exe to high priority. Don't do this for a ton of different programs or you might crash your computer, but one or two (depending on your RAM and how much RAM each program you set to high uses) at a time is safe. With 512 MB of RAM I only set TS2 to high priority.
161  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 08, 00:25:10
Update: I bypassed the launcher right away. Even so I didn't actually play with the internet hooked up on this computer until today. Zone Alarm got an alert within 2 minues of loading the game. I didn't play for very long, I just tested a few things and exited. I only got one alert, but that might be because I played for less than 30 minutes.
Also, 80 new character files were added to the test hood when I added one vacation destination (even with all of Pes' norespawn/antiredundancy/notownieregen etc type hacks). Guess I won't be playing my main hoods until Pes puts a notouristregen hack out. My primary hood has 100 character files, I am not prepared to almost double the population for a damn vacation spot.
162  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 07, 19:45:16
Re bypassing the laucher--is the simple fix of making the shortcut point to the sims2ep6.exe file not working??

That method of bypassing the launcher worked perfectly for me. I just keep my firewall running anyway because I like to be able to control which programs have access to the internet. You might be surprised by how many of your programs are regularly phoning home. Windows itself is probably the worst offender. But if you don't want to have any privacy you can keep on using windows firewall.
163  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Anyone want Enayla's Fanasty skins as Genetics? (Added Normal skins) on: 2007 September 07, 19:27:34
They will conflict. They have the same GUID (same one as the original too) so you can only have one in at a time.

I may be confused, but I have had Dewshine's NPC available and the ones that show up in CAS in my game for over a month. Did I bork something really badly? Or maybe you are just talking about the ones that you made and Dewshine's do actually have different GUIDs? I haven't noticed any problems with my game, what kind of problems should I be looking for?
164  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV problem - That hood's not supposed to be there! on: 2007 September 07, 19:12:06
If it were all the hoods, I'd say it was just the way the game sets about finding the originals, but since it's only one, it's definitely odd.  Have you searched your computer for any other N001.bak file that SimPE, for example, might have created?

No, I haven't run simPE since BEFORE I yanked my old sims 2 folder out of my documents/ea games. There is no possible way that simPE could have done this. When I installed BV it created a new folder there (which is supposed to happen) with the default Maxis hoods (Strangetown, Riverblossom Hills, Veronaville, and Pleasantview). The first three had normal folders, Pleasantview had N001-bak, so of course it didn't show up in the select neighborhood menu (also normal). It seems that the BV install itself created the N001-bak folder instead of a N001 folder. But it doesn't seem like that has happened to anyone else with BV. No matter, it was an easy fix.
165  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 07, 17:55:54
How did you get your firewall to block it?

I disabled the launcher and I haven't had the game make any attempts to access the internet. However, if you want to use a firewall to prevent the game from accessing the net it is quite simple. I use Zone Alarm. Whenever a program tries to get online I get a little pop up that details which program is trying to use the internet and I can select "accept" or "deny". There is also a box to tick so that it will remember the selection and not ask you again (so I don't get a pop up every time my browser tries to use the internet). Zone Alarm has a very simple, user friendly interface. If you've managed to figure out how to get online you shouldn't have any problem figuring out how to use Zone Alarm, IMO.
166  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV problem - That hood's not supposed to be there! on: 2007 September 07, 16:56:45
I am posting this here because it's semi-related in that it is a hood issue caused by BV. I am not terribly concerned by it, but I thought it would be worth reporting because it's just weird. I renamed my TS2 folder and installed. A new TS2 folder was created. I looked in the new TS2 folder and instead of N001 I had N001 -bak. I've never seen a new EP install spawn a -bak hood. Obviously all I have to do is rename the folder to N001, but I thought that it was strange. Not that I was going to keep that version anyway, I just yanked all of the respawned Maxoid hoods and put my saved copies from my renamed TS2 folder in a few minutes ago. I guess I am just a curious person. Has anyone seen or heard of this happening before?
167  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage time issue. Possibly serious? on: 2007 September 06, 21:42:10
When you say, you come back at the time it was, when you went home from the comm lot, you mean to say that it is now the later time?  i.e. you leave the comm lot and it is 9pm.  you stay on the comm lot Past midnight, Past noon, which results in losing a vacation day and being charged an extra night's stay in the hotel.  You leave the comm lot and it is 2pm.  When you get back to the hotel, it is 2 pm (or... a little after 2pm that is)?!?!?!?

At this point, you aren't charged anything extra and you don't lose any other vacation days?

So... that means some hack must be borking this?
Ste

Last night I tested the time thing pretty extensively with nothing but JM's director's cut in. I tested with two separate families. Both had the same results.
If my sims left the hotel at 9 AM and were gone for five hours it would be 2 PM when they returned to the hotel. The hotel time would say 2 PM.
If one sim (or more) stays at the hotel and the other sim/s leave at 9 am and are gone for 5 hours it would be 2 PM when they returned to the hotel. The only sucky thing about this is that the sim who stayed at the hotel will have the same motive state as when you left (so even if five hours have passed and they were asleep when you left their energy bar wouldn't have filled). The easy work around for this is playing in debug mode and dragging up the motive/s that you wish to impact. So if your sim was asleep when you left and five hours have passed you can drag the energy bar up so that they get "credit" for time spent asleep. I don't think that sounds cheaty since they did just lose five hours of time, but everyone is welcome to make their own decision of course.
The times are just examples, the time thing continued to work this way no matter what time they left the hotel and no matter how many hours they were gone for. This sounds like a hack conflict to me.
168  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 06, 05:13:00
I tested with only JM's Bon Voyage Director's Cut (and CC that shouldn't throw errors like replacement face templates, makeup, hair, floor tiles etc.) in debug mode and I have had no errors since JM's update. I am having some things drop from the queue, however. Walking to other lots works fine, I am seeing the tooltips for all additional turn ons/offs. Load times are not unreasonable even though my computer is just barely over minimum specs.

From the ACR FAQ:

Quote
c.   It is fully compatible with the Inteenimator and Jenflower’s woohoo teens.

I wouldn't have suggested it if I didn't know that it was compatible.  Smiley
ACR does allow for teen woohoo but only if the adjuster is on the lot, and as I understand it they can only use casual woohoo. I was playing with the kitten killer before I had ACR, so I am honestly a bit fuzzy on this part, but I believe that if you want to direct your teens to have a regular, non-casuaul woohoo you need to have inteen or woohooteens installed. ACR does not allow for casual woohoo in certain places (such as the car) so as I understand it your teens will be unable to woohoo in the car (which I think is a classic teenage sex location) without woohooteens/inteen.

Actually, I took a look at the actual page where the download was offered. It seems that it was intended as a build mode type add on piece, not as a house. Pescado is absolutely right, the creator said:

172  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: sims will not age on: 2007 September 04, 05:32:35
strangel- most definately am using the latest version. i think i downloaded it 10 times trying to make up my mind if i really wanted it. then deleting it because i didn't know what i was doing. then changing my mind. then the freakin' aging problem. trying again. it was junk townies. i found it in the middle of a list burried at the bottom of the rtfm.  the rtfm is so involved and complicated i just missed it until i knew exactly what i was looking for. the way it usually happens.

Ah, thanks for the information. Now I see why I've never had the problems that you're describing, I never play with the Maxis hoods. It probably doesn't hurt that I use clean templates and all of JM's hacks that control townie/NPC/etc spawning. But yeah, it sounds like fixing the junk townie problem in your hood could be a potentially huge task. Not really worth the effort. You could always try Jenflower's woohooteens, as I understand it hers is a much less invasive mod, but it doesn't allow teen pregnancy.

That's not the problem. I read the comments left in HP's thread and someone had specifically asked if you needed H&M stuff for the clothes to work. You don't.

I am now officially out of my league. I don't know how to tell how a mesh was made. Here's what I do know: the borked dressastop meshes from last year, and the ones I discovered recently, were made by taking a full body outfit and turning it into a top only outfit. HystericalParoxysm does know about this issue, but her RTFM says,

Quote
This is also a conversion of one of the tops in the H&M Stuff Pack - this cute little loose-necked halter came along with some jeans and shoes, which was okay but I really wanted it as a separate, so I made it a top on its own, to be paired with whatever bottoms you like. In the process, I removed the necklace and bracelet - I generally don't like jewelry attached to clothing.

That certainly sounds like she's saying she made the mesh by taking a full body outfit and turning it into a top. Again, I have NO IDEA how this mesh was actually made, this is just a guess based on the phrasing that HystericalParoxysm used. She may have created an entirely new mesh made to look like the top from the full body outfit.
You can either wait for someone more awesome to come by and confirm or deny my hypothesis or you can ask HystericalParoxysm how she made the mesh. Or if you have the patience you can test it by having a sim who is wearing a shirt that uses this mesh take a job.

...who the fuck is "Jon" and why did he kill himself? did I miss a slide?

If I followed this story correctly the dad has no name, but then the writer decides to call him "John" for one slide, and then on the next slide she changes it to "Jon". This story seems to be about random semi-connected shit that happened in her hood. Not a very good premise for a story. Now I'm tempted to take out some of my most random shots and string them together and call it a story. I have a great one of Santa peeing.
