I had the same eternal loading screen problem, which I 'fixed' by installing Pirates & Nobles.

Haha, sorry, I assumed you were familiar with this part of MATY culture. I was just expressing my gratitude, press the 'thanks' button in the corner of my post and you'll see what I mean.

If you'd like, I can share those two versions of the NGBH with you.

Oh please do, I'm staying at my parents house for the coming week, but when I get back I'd like to experiment futher with this.
I don't think the clash will be worse than what I've got going on now. As long as I can get the concrete roads back, I don't mind repainting the bit between the road and the sidewalk with terrain paint to match the 'beach' texture.
5  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Changing road types on: 2011 April 12, 20:41:58
Picture

Bleh, I think I'm just going to call it quits. Roads should be regular maxis tarmac, but both in neighbourhood and lot view they show the desert texture. Without that replacement road texture I downloaded the difference isn't as obnoxious, Ill just get rid of it. Sigh, I'd hoped this would be an easily fixable thing.

After creating this hybrid neighborhood, what happens when you add a new empty lot?  Does it also get the desert terrain near the road?  If so, then the problem is likely in the hood package; if not, then the problem is likely in the lot package.

Roads placed after creating an unholy hybrid get the concrete ground texture and the desert road texture, just like my Elsewhere hood. As far as I can tell there isn't any reference to the road texture in the individual lot packages, only the ground texture.
Edit: realised the picture of my lot is kinda crap, it doesn't show the original ground texture, which is concrete.

Fixed link.

Been mucking about in SimPE for a bit (keep in mind I'm very amateur at this) and I have managed to replicate the problem. Generated two new hoods, same terrain, one concrete one desert. Copied the concrete's 'Neighborhood Terrain Geomtry' file, replaced the desert one. Loaded the desert hood, it's now the same weird hybrid as my Elsewhere, concrete terrain, desert roads. So in theory I should be able to do the oppostie and copy only the road texture. Unfortunatly, I have no clue which file in the neighborhood.package contains this information. So I'm stuck.
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Changing road types on: 2011 April 11, 14:28:51
I've been playing plasticbox's Elsewhere neighbourhood for ages, and it's always had a weird problem regarding the roads. The terrain itself has the concrete texture, the roads however show a bit of desert between the road and the pavement. I suspect plasticbox at some point changed the terrain from desert to concrete and the roads remained the same. It didn't really bother me at first, but I recently downloaded this replacement for desert roads, and now the difference is really noticable.
Is there any way to fix this problem, change some numbers with SimPE perhaps?
8  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Error when trying to adopt baby on: 2009 June 30, 21:38:12
I'm getting a weird error when trying to let my sims adopt a baby. Judging from the text that popped up, my game is trying to create a new baby by using two townies as 'parents'. Thing is, my neigbourhood only has one townie left, the others have all been married in.
Am I reading the log right and is my single townie really the problem? Creating another one for the sake of adoption is no big deal, but it seems retarded the game can't just generate a baby from scratch.

There is also a tutorial done by fantasyrogue, found here.
10  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Townies and NPCs can generate with Glasses/Facial Hair on: 2008 December 22, 23:46:52
Meant to post this a long time ago, must have slipped my mind.

While using this hack, I noticed something unusual. Townies were spawning with glasses I had never seen before. I suspect they were at some point discarded by EAxis but are still recognised as glasses, they just do not show up in CAS. There are several of them, round specs ('grandma glasses' I call them, the ones Alexander Goth wears) but with a red frame and green glass, and several squarish glasses with rounded edges, both normal and tinted. I'll try and dig up some pics.

ETA: Quick 'n' dirty screen caps

Has anyone else noticed these?
11  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: A couple of edited nhood objects. Big Update. Object spam. on: 2008 December 09, 22:51:53
Ehm, the Dutch and Spanish windmills are switched; the wooden one should be Dutch.

Anyway, those shipwrecks are fabulous. Will definitely nab for my sister's Twikii hoods.
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's on YOUR Wish List? on: 2008 September 20, 23:57:13
Kekeke, somebody else necromanced so now I can add my own wish.

When there's heavy snow on the ground, the 'walls down' view will leave the walls slightly higher than normal, so as not to disappear behind the snow. My wish is for this height to be permanent. A little thing really.

I also wish Will Wright would axe-murder the current EAxis employees, but that's a pipe dream.
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Urgh; AL townies breeding like rats! on: 2008 September 05, 23:10:03
Pleasantville populated by 10459 townies and counting!

My pc just had a melt-down at the mere thought. Thanks.

Seriously, over ten thousand townies?! My rig starts to splutter as soon as I get anywhere near 200 sims.
My first reaction was: How on earth are you going to marry all of them into your families. That's what townies are to me, folk you breed into your families until the gene pool is large enough to sustain itself.
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Apartment Life: Obligatory Hate/Love Topic on: 2008 August 27, 23:49:42
Love

- The new outfits (although slightly disappointed they copied the 'nerdy' outfit from FT, but not the bohemian one for adults, just for teens and elders (don't have FT))
- Build mode stuffs, especially the new fences. Was squealing with glee when I spotted those.

Hate

- Lag
- Me having to uninstall AL already because of it. Loading an unoccupied, empty lot took ages, and after 5 mins or so I'd get a pop-up from windows informing it had run out of virtual memory. Pc just can't take the strain. I'll give AL another try after I buy a new machine. Those fences are worth it.

Which EPs/SPs do you have? It shows up fine for me with all EPs/SPs installed.

All EPs up to Seasons, FFS, Glamour, H&M and Ikea.
I have yet to try Emma's suggustion, although I doubt it'll work. All other clothes showed up perfectly.
16  Darcyland / Lord Darcy Investigates / Re: Decustomized and Updated Maxis Official Objects/Clothing (Updated 2008-08-01) on: 2008 August 20, 11:42:37
Slight problem I have with the Domestic Goddess outfit from Kitchen&Bath SP, I can't get the outfit to show up in CAS. I know it's there, because it did appear once when I was clicking the randomise button. But it's not there in the bin, not even with debug mode on. Is there a simple way to fix this with SimPE?

A 1000 and 1 ways of creating fancy staircases. Ofcourse, if you have OFB, you can just plop down a podium (from the foundations menu) and use that as an easy way to make corner stairs.

Oh and for anybody who uses podiums (podia?), please, please, please paint the sides. Everytime I read a story or see a house with an undyed podium it drives me nuts.
18  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: August on: 2008 August 08, 10:00:21
@Eleanora. Very ye olde type cottage - then the surprise Japanesey theme inside.  Cheesy

What, where?
You mean the wood panelling? I figured that was the way olde worlde cottage had their walls covered. And since EAxis doesn't offer a whole lot of choice, and I did not want to use the same panelling in every room, I had to use some 'non-European panelling'.
19  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: August on: 2008 August 02, 15:42:27
I went a bit nuts...

I must apologise for the size of the pictures, but I couldn't be arsed to load up my game again just to take new pics.

Lot is 95% unfurnished, I only did the bathroom. As for playability, I only tested the staircases, and the upstairs rooms to see if the roof wasn't too low. When playing, the plants along the walls will probably obstruct the view a tad too much, so you might want to nuke 'em. Edges are completely flat.

Edit: Forgot to add, I have all EPs up to Seasons, Glamour, FFS, H&M and IKEA.

Ha, I knew you'd still pick this one!

*Eleonora moons Emma

I'll have a go at this one, was thinking about turning it into one of those 'Elizabethan" houses Veronaville has, or maybe something cottage-y. One question though, does the decking at the back have to be retained, or can I sledgehammer it?
21  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: July on: 2008 July 30, 12:09:09
Using the LotExpander, wouldn't it be possible to expand the lot, flatten it, then shrink it back to it's original size? That would be decidedly easier than rebuilding the whole thing onto a new, flat lot.
22  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: July on: 2008 July 29, 15:26:26
It is the one I picked out. I'll have to find another now. Stupid Eleonora.

No spoilers! You'll just have to wait and see Grin

To be non-cheaty, it is a house I haven't previously made over . I've only loaded it and looked at the floorplan. You are all gonna love it!

Mkay, since August's House of Fail is already determined, I'd like to nominate one for September. It's a bit early I suppose, but I couldn't let this fugly go unnoticed. Was browsing about the EAxis 'hoods when I came across this little gem:

Strangetown's Road to Nowhere 73.
It should provide plenty of challenge, with it's odly shaped outside walls, and being only a 3x2 lot.

Sounds cool.  But why make a single object for all those options instead of breaking it up into one object for each of Allen's styles?  That'd solve your pie menu problems and save some unnecessary apace and load time for those who wouldn't want all of them.

Add me to the DO WANT list.
Although I would probablly break it up per hair colour, seems to somehow make more sense to me.
