Yeah, but they look like LOLLIPOPS!
Trees should look like things that grow naturally in forests, not like something you would find in Dineyland.

I'm just pissed that the only sollution seems to be to place the trees 4-5 blocks away from the edge of the lot. That's really going to look fab on a 10x10 lot with a house in the middle.  Roll Eyes

I've tried this mod, but I had to take it out after about 5 sim days.
My family of 6 all caught the flu of one another, and all keeled over in 48 hours, regardless of how much time they spent in bed/bath/relaxing. This mod is a bit too hardcore for my game.  Embarrassed
53  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Deleting neigbourhood trees with SimPE? on: 2007 May 06, 10:03:26
If they're too plain, you could always add the decorations you want.  Speaking as someone who spent many hours removing the decorations from MATYville in an attempt to make it playable on my machine, I'd prefer to add the decorations my computer can handle rather than remove decorations from a heavily decorated neighbourhood.

I rather meant flat than plain actually. I love the fact that they're tree-less, but I wouldn't have minded a few rolling hills and/or some water. That's what I loved about Loverat's terrains, they're small, have flat roads, and are surrounded by some nice landscapes. Their only downside is the insane amount of trees on them.
54  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Deleting neigbourhood trees with SimPE? on: 2007 May 05, 16:04:04
cheers!

Those 'hoods are very plain, but I guess you have to make some compromises when running a less-than-awesome machine.

55  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Befuddled Newbie on: 2007 May 04, 20:29:20
I recommend you start using the empty templates by SaraMK, found in peasantry.
They prevent your game from spawning the same old townies, too many NPC's, strays, unwanted families, etc. Very useful.
56  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Deleting neigbourhood trees with SimPE? on: 2007 May 04, 20:06:14
I'de love to buy myself a whole new system, been toying with the idea for over a year, however I have no idea were to start.... (any suggestions are very welcome, note that I'm located in the Netherlands)

Anyway, I send a mail to Loverat, the creator of the hoods, asking her if she could possibly make tree-less versions, fingers crossed.
57  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Deleting neigbourhood trees with SimPE? on: 2007 May 04, 19:23:25
Well I assumed that adding it to my userstartup.cheat would make sure that any neighbourhood would load without trees.
And window mode is awful, I get incredible lag when trying to use it.

I've had this flashing problem before though. The loading screen goes through the whole process of the want boxes lighting up etc, and then when it should switch to my actual hood it just starts flashing between a black screen and the load screen. I assume this time it might be caused by the two stuff packs I 'acquired' today, although my computer has been unusually buggy of late.

@ Pescado
I'll try and do that, won't even have to make back-ups since all my 'hoods are completely empty.

EDIT: Tried it with an empty hood and one with a few trees, the results were, erm, interesting. Granted, the trees had disappeared, but so had the roads. Using the 'boolprop displayneigborhoodroas true' cheat didn't work, and now I'm basically screwed. I'm not prepared to go and buy SC4 just so I can edit those particular terrainds, guess I'll just have to get over them.  Undecided
58  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Deleting neigbourhood trees with SimPE? on: 2007 May 04, 19:11:16
Tried that cheat, I put it into my userstartup file.... never made it past the neighbourhood loading screen.
That's why I hate my computer, this morning Sims was running perfectly fine, now, nothing works anymore.

/sigh
59  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Deleting neigbourhood trees with SimPE? on: 2007 May 04, 18:27:41
Is it in any way possible to remove (all) neigbourhood trees using SimPE?
Due to a mediocre computer I always use small neigbourhood terrains, mainly Loverrat's tiny ones. However, those come with a shitload of trees causing my graphics card to barf. Removinf trees prior to laoding the neigbourhood would probably stop my game from flashing blue/black  Roll Eyes

I have looked at the neigbourhood package with SimPE, and there is a Neighbourhood Terrain (NHTR) entry in there, which reads: Trees: 8332 items [0x8]. Would it be safe to change 8332 to 0, or will that result in a FBVFS?

I'm afraid there's a real thing that looks much more authentic.

Indeed

Not surprsingly, it was invented in the Netherlands.  Grin
61  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Celebration Stuff Hair on: 2007 April 23, 16:37:03
Tried it, failed miserably. If used Theo's many times before but never with a package that included all colours. Do I have to split it up before binning it?
And looking at the the textures it looks like children/teens do have one, yet my game shows them with a default hairdo  Huh
62  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Celebration Stuff Hair on: 2007 April 22, 10:32:44
Did my files get damaged or are 2 of the hairstyles not supposed to show up for children/teens? Intead I get a default hairdo.

Can I go into SimPE and remove these entries? (and if yes, how?)
63  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The scarecrow on: 2007 March 27, 15:35:30
The only truly accidental death I've had was when I could have used it least. I had a female Sim who had married an elder, he had an adopted teen girl, and the couple had just had a baby boy. Dad was getting old though and the same they that Grim came for him, his young wife decided to relax on the lawn. Naturally, a satellite falls on her head, and the poor teenager is left to raise her baby brother on her own.
I love these twists though, and if my Sims don't die spontaneously, I will often make them have an 'accidental' death, just to add some more drama.
64  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: userStartup.cheat on: 2007 March 27, 15:18:44
You are definitly on to something there, 'cause my file hasn't been working properly either since seasons. I've got quite a long list of cheats and aliases, but only debug mode seems to get turned on upon loading. Moveobjects and the 45 degree rotation etc. still have to be entere manually, and my aliases don't work either = huge PITA.
65  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Odd things I noticed about Seasons on: 2007 March 11, 13:25:50
Black neighbourhood, would that count as an 'odd thing'? Roll Eyes
Didn't want to make a seperate thread for this. Whenever there's a little bit of snow on the ground, the terrain surrounding my lot turns completely black. Other lots and trees and such are still visible, but the ground is gone. Silly thing is, it only happens during the day, at night the terrain looks normal. And heavy snow is shown properly as well, both day and night. I suppose i could reinstall seasons to see if I have an corrupted file somewhere, but I'm afraid it's more serious; another Nvidia driver problem. Angry
66  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Damn dormies! on: 2007 February 17, 11:15:26
uhm... any. I load up my game, if I'm lucky it survives loading the house, and then 10 sec or so later it crashes, and gives me that nice message saying: "The application has crashed. The application will now terminate". This happends regardless of neighbourhood or family.
67  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Damn dormies! on: 2007 February 15, 15:05:00
Pulled a stupid? Pffft, ofcourse not. I'm currently running base+uni+nl and I've used the nl version.

But I found the culprit anyway, 'twas the romancemod. Dunno why it's crashing my game, but I can live without it.
68  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Damn dormies! on: 2007 February 15, 03:09:24
meh, I just thought I'd do things rigorously and deleted the whole hood, and let it regerate. Things work fine now.

As for the director's cut, I never bothered with it because it contains a lot of stuff I don't really want. But I'll give it a look.

EDIT: director's cut FTW my ass! Game is crashing like never before, huzzah... Sad
69  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Damn dormies! on: 2007 February 13, 14:18:39
The situation: unplayed veronaville, with a feshly added Academie Le Tour, without any dormies (due to empty templates). I had created two YA, I moved the female into a dorm, used debug to spawn a whole new set of dormies, and all seems fine. I move in my male into another dorm, no dormies show up, I keep getting the same error messages over and over again. Also, when calling the campus directory, all students excepts for my CAYA female have blank icons. WTF is going on?
I must add that I curretly have NO hacks*, except for nobabyharassment, and game is fully patched.

*(This is due to extreme FUBAR-ness and me being too lazy to re-download every single hack)
70  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Getting Rid of Maxis Townies on: 2007 February 09, 01:25:39
Try renaming the N001 folder in C:\EA Games\Sims 2\Tsdata\res\Userdata\Neigborhoods. That should prevent any townies from spawning.
Or alternatively you could get one of those empty templates from Peasantry, they work perfectly.

I do believe it is. (*used to be a shameless fangirl Grin*)
72  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Needing flowers? Help finding a link on: 2007 February 01, 05:34:15
I feel sorry for you Elonora had the same happen. Lost my most beloved Neighbourhoods at this Time.

Thanks, but I've just decided never to play sims again. I had reinstalled my game, redownloaded my favorite hacks, started up my game, and poof! my computer crashes, 3 times in a row. I've had enough of EA, from now on I'll stick to visiting MATY and playing Guild Wars.
73  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Needing flowers? Help finding a link on: 2007 February 01, 04:04:37
I lost all my bookmarks

(because I feel like being a show-off today)
Sniff, I just managed to lose my complete Sims 2 folder, due to some sitting-behind-the-pc-waaaay-too-long. Now I'm going to have to redownload all my hacks again  Cry I'm not even going to bother getting all my other CC back.

Sorry I couldn't help you, I just needed an excuse to vent my frustration
74  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pets patch released on: 2007 January 31, 15:21:33
Mmmm... just had my first post-patch crash. Undecided  Bianca Monty was trying to return home from a community lot via taxi, but before the car could pull up the game threw me out. Weird. I'm not sure though that it was the patch which caused my game to shut down, it might have just been the fact that I've had my computer on for so long now it's memory must be stuffed to the ceiling.
75  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pie menus on: 2007 January 10, 21:48:21
Ehm, why am I not freaked out by this? I really don't see anything shocking about that book... must be my dutch upbringing. Where do american kids learn that babies come from, surely by now you've gone beyond the whole stork nonsense.

Right?
