1426  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Pool Hack - Anti-Pool Obsession And More! on: 2005 September 12, 05:30:40
Are they properly dressed for the task? This hack blocks them from using the portal if they're not dressed for swimming, but you can still manually direct them to get in using a pool fixture, and they'll spin-change to get in. The portal-blocking is necessary to prevent them from autonomously walking into the pool. They are blocked from autonomously using the pool fixtures unless dressed for it. Or not dressed, as the case may be. That's permitted now also. Smiley

A few questions:

1) So a sim now must be dressed (in a swimsuit) or not-dressed (naked) in order to use any of the pool fixtures autonomously?

2) Can visiting sims be asked to join? And if so... will they be able to change and use the pool fixtures? Or are they still blocked from doing so? And can only enter via the ladder first? So... they must be smart enough to A) get properly dressed (or undressed) and B) know to use the ladder first before they can get into the pool. Yes?

3) Does this also apply to the hot tub(s)? Or is that totally different code altogether? I found that visiting sims still autonomously get into the hot tub, which can be just as annoying and/or kind of rude in a way. Perhaps that should also be included, that it is invite only first for visitors or allowable if a party is going on, and perhaps Also allow skinny dipping in the hot tub(s) as well? Pretty please? Cheesy

Oh... another mini question, maybe, if this isn't already included, there should be an exception, similar to the "No Buskers" hack, in that if there is a party going on, then visitors could be allowed in the pool and/or hot tub(s). And... preventing visitors or non-controllable sims from entering the pool and/or hot tub(s) should be limited to residential lots, which I assume is how it already works for pools. I'm just mentioning this because, if the anti-pool restrictions were applied to hot tubs as well, this should only affect residential lots hopefully, because I do have hot tubs at Uni lot dorms, and on those lots it would make sense for dormies and visitors to be able to use hot tubs and/or pools pretty much any time they want, since they are sort of more like community lots. Or at least all the objects on the lot are communal in a way. I hope that makes sense. Smiley

Thanks!

1427  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Another Bathroom Uses You Error Log? on: 2005 September 09, 20:24:37
Oh Awesome one, or any modder who can interpret error logs, please take a look this log and let me know if anything really bad is wrong with my game and/or lot.

I wasn't really paying attention much to the sim(s) in question. At the time, I believe I had directed Michael (one of the teenage sons) and David (the father) to eat food that Hillel (the eldest teenage son) to prepare. I think Hillel was being used by the Bathroom at the time and last I noticed Michael was eating and David was on his way to sit down at the dinner table. Well... I also think there was some weird "nervous tick" of some  sort with Michael's animation while he was eating. He wasn't doing the shovel food into his mouth and chat cycle like normal, his arm looked like it was sort of stuck in the air (like when arms get stuck sometimes) but it was sort of jerking like he was trying to move it. I didn't think anything of it and figured it would fix itself or what not because things like that usually do. Roll Eyes

Anyways, I turned my back to attend to other sims on the lot and up pops the error dialog box and both Michael and David are popped over standing a few tiles away from the table (after I hit Reset of course). At about the same time, Hillel came barreling out of the Bathroom having been used and kicked out. I don't know if they are related, but when I looked at the log briefly, it looks like there's something about the bathroom controller. *shrugs*

1428  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bathroom Uses You - Yet Another Interesting Semaphoric Scenario on: 2005 September 08, 16:05:08
I'm glad to see I'm not the only having some issues with bathroomusesyou. For the most part, like 95% of the time it's fine, but other times it can get a little wiggy. I had something sort of similar happen again to various other problems:

One of my invited sims either magically set himself as a sleepover guest, or probably just got stuck in the bathroom. This was a YA sim, and while he was in the bathroom, I guess he got stuck in some loop or something when I wasn't paying attention and he ended up falling asleep in front of the toilet. The next morning, he woke up starving and then he keeled over in pain and died.  Roll Eyes Which put a damper on the rest of my sims who were busy skilling and meditating and basically preparing for their day. Now... see, I wouldn't have minded so much if it weren't for the fact that this turned out to be a CAS created sim, which was purposefully created by me based on a high school crush I had. Cheesy As such, I felt compelled to save him, and it was very fortunate that I had managed to become best friends with him the previous day. Tongue Anyhew, I successfully pleaded for his life *whew* and then yet another odd thing happened... his thumbnail appeared in my UI, as if he should be selectable, but he wasn't. This is similar to when I attempt to use the testingcheatsEnabled cheat to try and make sims selectable. Their thumbnail appears, but they really aren't selectable. I would click on him, and his queue would briefly show up and then disappear, defaulting to the previously selected sim.  Huh Regardless, he ended up walking off the lot and presumably went back home.

Yet another issue that I had is with a recent birth in the bathroom as similarly reported in this thread. I've only skimmed it just now... so I guess I will try the Emergency Stop thing, since it turns out that I saved just before the birth and I have been testing out the birth odds/results of twojeffs' trips&quads hack anyways, which I have reported here. I also have both the bathroomusesyou and the baby controller on that lot. I suppose I should have used the Emergency Stop to prevent the baby pick up attempt and bathroom kick out dash loop, but I also didn't think of that. I did try to manually direct the mother to pick the baby up, but she was still kicked out. Okay... I just read  further on and I saw that Emergency Stop did not help, which is just as I suspected, since manually directing the sim to pick the baby up also did not help. I shall read further on before I hit post... ok, nothing else shed any further light on the situation. I suppose I will just have to turn the Seek off when the birthing occurs next time I play this lot.

1429  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The World's Slowest Sims Player on: 2005 September 06, 00:05:56
Hehe, I play fairly slowly as well. Probably more painfully slowly than most. I've taken to creating sims based on real people (friends, family, and acquaintances) and I've mostly been tryin to duplicate what has happened to them in real life. For the longest time, I had been playing with aging off, and I had no idea about aspiration and career rewards. And even after I got Uni, I never played it until I felt ready enough to send my own simself to college. Then, I started creating all these CAS YAs based on my friends and acquaintances I've known through high school, college, and grad school. I've alternated a bit playing through some of the diff dorms, but now I got a bit bored with that and I've been playing this one house in the regular neighborhood lately, so I've had a chance to check out some of the latest hacks I've downloaded but weren't really functional in Uni. I'm also partly holding off and playing any Uni lots any further as I want my YAs to enjoy the upcoming features of the NL EP before they have to grow up and become adults and enter the "real world" so to speak that is sim adulthood.

Anyways, for my friends and acquaintances that I don't know a lot about, I just made them YAs if I don't know like their family configuration or like know enough to make what their parents or sibs are like. So I just start them off as single YAs in Uni. Other than that, I only really have 3 main families in the regular neighborhood, with three additional families that I acquired from my sister's game. Unfortunately, two of them were added before we knew that installing packaged lots would lead to bfbvfs syndrome. Roll Eyes The last one, I fortunately was able to install without those extra files issues. I play those lots when I'm a bit bored of my main ones. And I hardly ever play any of the Maxis-made lots. I did play the Goth one for a while: I saved Mortimer from an early death by old age and aged Alexander to a teen, but that was it so far. I really can't stand some of these other lots, like the Pleasants or Don Lothario. I've pretty much neglected them, but perhaps out of boredom, I might play them and build upon their stories. So far, they are just the background players and  neighbors who occassionally show up in my regular families lives. Tongue

Right now, I'm desperately just trying to resist the urge to play my Uni dorm lots until the NL EP comes and all my hacks have been updated. Grin Before I played with aging off because I didn't know about the Elixir of Life and other aspiration rewards, and that having too many memories could cause jump bugs  Shocked but who would have thought that would happen anyways? It's a shame that the game was so poorly thought out considering how easily these problems would pop up just by how many different playing styles people have. They really should have had REAL game players actually beta test the game rather than whatever  method they used. It seems painfully obvious that they didn't think of different situations that might come up gameplay wise that would cause the game to break so badly. Tongue They even Tell you in the game guide how to turn off aging! Something seemingly benign as that could easily result in a bfbvfs and they didn't even bother to test out the long term ramifications of gameplay. Roll Eyes Anyways, as it stands, I cannot play my game without my hacks, and I guess I'll just keep trucking along with my current game, keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't explode too soon, forcing me to start over. For now, I'll just have to constantly backup my game and hacks, and in the very least, keep extracted copies of my favorite sims, so that I could start all over from the beginning if that ever does happen. At least I won't have to spend so much time rebuilding and tweaking my sims in BS or CAS. Wink

1430  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Barista Wants in Regular Neighborhood - Is this Normal? on: 2005 September 05, 08:38:38
That's right.  I've wondered, though, if you get a son or daughter at uni to invite them to a community lot in uni whether they can do it there, since an invited sim in the campus lots is playable.

It that always the case? Or is that only because of Pescado's phonehack? Or maybe that isn't the right hack, but I vaguely recall something about his hack and how it makes it so that invited sims to a comm lot become playable, otherwise they would act like sim's with free will Off and would just stand around until they've pissed themselves. I could be mistaken as I have been playing pretty much forever with so many of his hacks, but I could have sworn I had that read that earlier on. So... without his hack, the want would still be pretty much unfillable. With his hack, I suppose there is a roundabout solution in that you would have to lock those wants, and then have a Uni sim invite them over to a comm lot, and have them fulfill them there while they were controllable.  Huh Kinda dumb, but oh well.

And yeah, for this particular lot, the family was kinda running low on funds. As soon as they got more loot, those wants seemed to have rolled away. How odd... I'm not sure exactly what the check trees are, but I assume that it is some sort of method or precaution for wants checking to see if certain conditions have been fulfilled before they show up. If that is the case, then something must be involved and checked for these specific wants to show up pretty much only when the cash flow is low. Anyway to get to that and add a check so they only show up for YA sims or if they are living in the Uni neighborhood? I suppose invited sims of other ages can be moved onto Uni lots, right? I don't know, I think I read about that, but I have never tried it for fear that it might muck up my game and turn it into a bfbvfs.  Tongue

1431  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Barista Wants in Regular Neighborhood - Is this Normal? on: 2005 September 03, 07:37:13
I've been playing in the regular neighborhood lately cuz I've been a bit bored with Uni. I've played several Uni dorms I've created, but I'm holding off on any further progress because I want some of my YAs to enjoy the new dating features when the NL EP comes along before they graduate. Cheesy

Anyways, this also gave me a chance to test out a lot of the new hacks I downloaded but haven't had a chance to enjoy just yet, such as the men peeing while standing, the work food/pizza delivery, the do homework in bedroom, smart serve and other food related hacks. They all work fantastically so far  Cheesy

However, I had this occurence where a CAS born Popularity Adult sim in the regular neighborhood (Pleasantville) is rolling up YA/Uni related wants, such as to work in the cafeteria and to work at the juice bar. Are these wants normal for Adults in the regular neighborhood? Correct me if I am mistaken, but I thought, and I haven't really checked this, that the Cafeteria stove, Juice bar, and other barista-ish objects aren't available on regular neighborhood community lots. And I thought you needed hacks to do that, but bad things can happen. At least I thought I read about that.

Anyways, just wondering if this is normal, and if these wants are "legally" fulfillable without hacks. If not, then I'd like to request a hack that fixes this and prevents these wants from rolling up when they don't make sense if they cannot be fulfilled. I've included pics too. Tongue

1432  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: FFS "Batbox" Lot Debugger v2.0: NUCLEAR WAR EDITION on: 2005 September 02, 14:50:23
Ahhh... thanks. I have seen this happen in Uni, with dormies sorta stuck in bathrooms or what not, but maybe that is something else. Because apparently those dormies who seem to freeze in front of toilets or whatever can still pass out and/or die. *shrugs*

But I definatley have seen dormies that seem to do research for days and days on end.  Roll Eyes I originally thought they just really loved research.  Cheesy And I was like, ok, whatever... weirdos... and just assumed that they must have went off to do something else and always come back to do research, since I don't always pay attention to the dumb dormies. But when I saw that they were still there for several days, I started to suspect something odd might be going on. But they didn't die or anything, so it didn't really concern me. They seem to eventually get up and do something else, but maybe they get reset after I quit and come back. I guess next time I see this happen, I'll try that option and see if it fixes them.  Tongue

One question:  I saw an option on the Lot Debugger that had something to do with mood meters (I think....I only saw it once and I forgot to write it down.)  Can you tell me what that is for?

Karen

I had this show up as well. Something about fix broken mood boosts or something like that. I was wondering if this is a new option and does this always show up or does it only show up if something is actually broken? I'm a bit confused about the options. Like do they only show up if something needs fixing, or are they always available regardless of something is broken or not. And if it is the latter, does something bad happen if you try and fix something that ain't broked? Huh

1434  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Super secrect Survey on BBS on: 2005 September 01, 19:09:44
Haha, seriously, these clothes are just totally awful. Well, if you haven't already been, I found some great links to other sites at the Gay Sims Club 2 over here. The links are to other sites with some great clothes, most of them are free, and they aren't necessarily gay-oriented, just really fabulous and fashionable.  Grin

I'm still looking for some nice free women's jeans and outfits as well. I've found some really cool trendy men's jeans and what not, but even the female's choices aren't so great either. I also wish that shoes would be a SEPARATE option from jeans. I think it was in Sims Bustin' Out, so why can't they do that for the Sims 2? I think it's retarded that we can't choose what kind of shoes we want our sims to wear with their outfits. I mean, a woman isn't always gonna wear flats/sandals ALL the time with jeans, or runners/sneaks ONLY with shorts. I mean come on! We should be able to mix and match things, sometimes a lady feels like heels you know?  Cheesy

And the same thing with men, sometimes you feel like sneaks, sometimes casual shoes, sometimes sandals. We should have a CHOICE!  Angry

I wonder if it is like far too late to like FIX that and make shoes and accessories a SEPARATE option, or if that is just way too hard coded into the game engine. Cause maybe it would be too hard to make that backwards compatible with the current way that clothes are handled. They should have thought about that dammit! *sigh*

1435  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Super secrect Survey on BBS on: 2005 September 01, 18:29:33
I did the little survey thing. Booster packs? Ugh. I supose they'd at least have less bugs, though . . . but perhaps this is why University was rather light on content? The space stuff sounded vaguely interesting, I must admit.

I think I did a survey once or so, but I forget. Probably the one about what kinds of EPs you'd like to see later. I vaguely recall the suggestions being rehashes of the original Sims 1 EPs. But meh, I don't really remember.

Booster packs might not be too bad of an idea, but for 20 bucks? Hell no. Why pay that much when you can just download some cool shit online for free? And it seems that what the community comes up with is way better than any of the crappy clothes and hair styles that Maxis packs into their EPs. I mean ok, there was a few things that were sort of better in the EP, but Not much really. Most, if not all of the Maxis clothes are FUGLY! And the hairstyles too! And what's with all the damned hats with the SAME hairstyles! Geez! And it's like 5 gajillion recolours of the SAME hat with the SAME hairstyle underneath! I think the way hats are done is stupid. Hats and other accessories should be done as SEPARATE modelled objects, and not just part of the face or skin. I would love to see like earrings and necklaces and hats and other stuff where you didn't have to have a specific skin or hairstyle chosen for it.  Roll Eyes

I've said this before, but someone seriously needs to Queer Eye that shit up. I mean, with a game that seems to be so uber gay friendly, I would have thought that they must have some gays working for them. :p So wouldn't they have at least some sense of Taste or fashion sense?!?!?! I mean really, I know that's like super cliche and whatever, and I am not the most fashionable gay in the world myself, but I know the difference between gaudy, ostentatious, and Down right hideously FUGLY! I mean, what were they THINKING? I can understand being lazy or pressed for time and not including a lot of content to choose from, but why, Why, WHY does the stuff that they DO add have to be so damned crappy looking? I mean seriously, a lot of that stuff is just, to put it plainly, the best definition of what an Eyesore can be. I mean, it would be so much better if they just added more options with Simpler, understated choices. Or at least colors that coordinated with other objects so that things would match rather than severely clash with the choices you are limited to. Anyhew, I'm whining and rambling now...  Roll Eyes

And what's this about space? Now that sounds intriguing... hrm... I wonder if they could pull something off like that. Traveling to and/or moving to other planets? Having starships for vehicles? What else could they possibly do without turning the sims into a totally fantasy/sci-fi fighting game? I guess it's no different than Makin' Magic, which I thought was kind of cute and neat, but really didn't play much with. I guess I"m not that imaginative enough, so maybe that could be promising. Still, I would love to see a Superstar update with endorsed celebs again. I really wanted to be friends with Christina Aguilera  Grin but I hadn't gotten that far yet in my game with enough celeb status. I actually liked that EP and I really liked going to the hollywoodish comm lots to do the acting, singing, and commercial mini-games.

And as for new Aspirations, yeah, I'd like to see that as well. I'm not sure if I could come up with any new ones either, but I think they should Definately fix up the careers they added and complete the chance cards. They should add More careers AND they should add more/varied wants and LTWs. If they are going to bother adding new careers, they should add new LTWs to go with them, because otherwise, what's the point?

I once worked out a whole design for a "Religion" based expansion pack.

I'm surprised no one commented on your idea. I guess no one wanted to touch that with a 10 foot pole.  Cheesy I actually thought it sounded really interesting and imaginative, BUT of course, for obviously reasons, the subject matter would be wayyyy too supsceptible to contention and would most likely be way too controversial. Still, the idea of spiritual guardians and what not sounds amusing. But in a way, I'm kind of glad that they did not include religion in the game and prefer that they leave it that way. It would get far too political and that's really unnecessary for a game, especially one such as this. But maybe... as a mod, especially with new things in development like actually being able to add/create new animations, who knows? It would be great to see community/user made/inspired EPs sometime further down the line.

Actually, maybe if you looked at the aspiration reward recharge hack, that should pretty much have most of the files for most of the rewards. Then, presumably, they would have the same group id, and you could just filter the objects.package for that and look at the different instances. Hope that helps somehow.

1437  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re? Request: Rechargeable or Refillable Juice Barrel on: 2005 September 01, 17:52:42
I vaguely recall someone asking for this before, but I'd like to re request it anyways. :p So yeah... would it be possible to have a rechargeable or, it probably makes sense to call it refillable juice barrel? Obviously it would work somewhat like the rechargeable aspiration rewards, but instead of deductiong Aspiration points, it should calculate and deduct the appropriate simoleons.

Again, just because I'm too lazy to have to delete and rebuy the darned thing. It's quite annoying. I don't want a cheaty kind of endless/bottomless barrel kind of thing. I'd just like to be able to refill it without having to delete and rebuy. Smiley

1438  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Two Error Logs - Possibly related to Macrostatics and Romance Mod on: 2005 August 29, 19:08:36
I use the Romance mod all the time, and it's never given me any problems.  Maybe your sim is just sick of ugly lovers?

Haha  Cheesy  Well... if that is the case, then he is truly uberly slutty and fickle. Because I gained all these lovers in one playing session, and all during ONE semester. I hadn't played this lot and this particular sim in a whiles. He currently had two lovers: Steven John, which was a CAS made sim from the regular neighborhood, and Robi somethingorother, which was a so-so looking dormie.

He then suddenly got uber horny and wanted to have WooHoo with 3 different sims. So... I figured what the hell. He already had a decent relationship with his professor through several casualized Make Out sessions thanks to twojefffs, which I used to up his grades/semester work meter, since he never seems to roll up any school related wants (no skilling, no homework, term paper, or research, not even influence wants to do so even though he gets tons through all the make outs and woohoos).

Anyhew, I managed to WooHoo the prof in the Hot Tub, which of course sprung up several more Woohoo related wants: Woohoo in Bed, Woohoo in Hot Tub, Public Woohoo, and Woohoo with 5 sims. Again, who am I to deny his greedy lust. It turned out that of the available sims/dormies on the lot, two of them were close enough in STR to get his mack on. He had already Made Out with Goopy, and had a high STR with Grayson. I was easily able to get Grayson to Woohoo, but I had to work a little on Goopy. After a few Make Out sessions in bed, Goopy was finally open to the idea of casualized Woohoo, going from "I'd rather pass..." to "You could talk me into that." But of course this just sprung up Make Out with 10 different sims and Woohoo with 10 different sims. Tongue

What the hell, so I decided to try the and fill the Public Woohoo, cause I wasn't anywhere close to getting 5 more other sims to want to Make Out, much less Woohoo anytime soon. I sent him to a public lot and invited Steven John along. As soon as I got there, I saw that Robi (that dormie lover) was already on the lot. To avoid jealous complications, I sent Steven John home, and decided to do Woohoo in public with Robi since he was already there. That was successful, but of course he then rolled up the Public woohoo 3 times want. So... I figured why not, this would be a chance to test out the jealous reactions. I didn't want to spoil his relationship with his real/first boyfriend at the time (Steven John), so I called up his Prof. instead, since he needed a grade boost anyways. The Prof. shows up and I make them public woohoo on the other side of the lot. Robi doesn't flinch or bat an eye, totally obliviously playing pinball and chatting up a storm with other dormies. Tongue Success and no jealousy! So, I figured I'd be risky and try it again with another dormie lover. I invited Grayson over, and by this time, the Prof. had walked over to join Robi at pinball.  Grin Yet again, my slutty fickle sim managed to score publically. By now, his energy was practically down to zero and his hunger and hygiene was following behind as a close second and third. So I high-tailed it back to the dorm to freshen up and re-energize, hopefully in time to avoid any potential visit from the GR.  Tongue

Well, I made it back home and he skipped his way up to the re-energizer on the roof and got his needs fixed. That's when he rolled up woohoo in hot tub and bed again.  Roll Eyes Damn, this horny sim just can't get enough!?!?! Whatever, he's full of energy, and he now has a want to flirt with his real boyfriend anyways. So I calls up Steven John, flirt with him, and then try to get him into the hot tub. That's when the errors started. Heheh. Maybe he had too much woohoo in one day? Huh

I just figured it might be related, because back when I was testing the romancemod wayyyyyyyyyy before it was officially released, I got all kinds of inexplicable errors popping up with a threesome set of lovers I had. Before the romancemod, I just used the no-jealousy-at-all hack, and managed to get these three sims to love each other. I then tried testing jealousy out, and although it worked successfully for the three of them, allowing combination of sexual/romantic interactions between two of the three and the 3rd not getting jealous, and often times cheering them on, if I tried made one of the parties flirt with an outsider, I sometimes got errors. It usually happened when the outsider was a relative of one of the 3, but I didn't check like all possibilities. I tried it with another trio household I had, and they also random errors pop up, but in their situation, it was harder to determine any kind of pattern. I think it may have been due to the two lovers both trying to be jealous at the same time? And maybe the jealousy emitter spazzed out because of that? *shrugs*

Anyhew, after the official release, it seemed like those problems were fixed. Perhaps I should go back and test em again. As of yet, I haven't had any problems in my game up until now. But then again, I haven't really been playing slutty... er Romance sims at all, so I haven't built any situations that would be supsceptible to fits of jealousy until now.

1439  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Two Error Logs - Possibly related to Macrostatics and Romance Mod on: 2005 August 29, 09:03:01
Oh awesome one and/or any modders or peeps who have experience interpreting error logs, please take a look at these two logs and let me know if I should be concerned.

I didn't even realize who the first error was affecting. At first, I had just assumed it was completely related to the romance mod, because at the time I was playing a Romance Sim (N001_User00400 - Scott Paul) at Uni Dorm lot. At the moment this first error log popped up, he was gettin his mack on with his lover (N001_User00161 - Steven John) in the hot tub. As soon as they started to WooHoo in Hot Tub, I got the error. So... I just assumed that it was related to that. I figured it may have happened because Scott Paul also has two other lovers who are dormies on the lot (N001_User00352 - Grayson and N001_User00344 - Goopy). Not necessarily by choice, it just happened that way because he had all these Woohoo wants, and since he's gay, and these were the only male sims available at the time that he had a strong enough relationship to Casually WooHoo, despite their hideousness, they were unfortunately all I had to work with. Tongue

Well... it turned out, after looking at the log, it was the NPC Barista/Cafeteria Worker dude (N001_User00376 - Hunter)that was affected? At least that's what it looks like to me.  Huh  This could have been related to the fact that I had two other playable sims in the dorm at the time who were set to Macro.../Clean (N001_User00562 - Scott and N001_User00397 - Kristine). They both rolled up a want to gain a skill and since the dorm was dirty, I figured why not just make them clean. I did see at one point, that they were both trying to go for the stove. But then Scott changed his mind and went to clean one of the bathrooms while Kristine somewhat patiently waited for Hunter to move out of the way. I didn't bother to watch them and I guess it just coincided with the Woohoo in Tub action?  Undecided

In any case, I just clicked reset, and the Tub woohoo cinema continued as normal. Then, Scott Paul had a want to Woohoo in bed, and I figured, what the hell. He's crazy horny and who am I to deny his lust and desire for carnal pleasure.  Grin So, I sent him to bed, and invited Steven John to join him yet again. However, this time, I got another error log that popped up (the second one). Now this one looks like it just affected one of the dormies (N001_User00425 - Avri) who doesn't really have any sort of relationship with Scott Paul at all. But... I think at the time, Goopy was trying to get into the pool and possibly was talking with him.

Anyways, I'm not sure if something really bad happened, but even though I could get Scott Paul and Steven John into bed, when I tried to WooHoo, I got the error log. I hit reset, and then I tried again, but no dice. They just snuggled, and then they separated. No error log and no rejection. Steven John just tried to get out of bed. I asked him to join again, and then I tried to Woohoo for a 3rd time. Again, still no dice. They would get into the cuddle animation, the green ++ would show up over their heads, and then they would separate, without any rejection and Steven John would just get out of bed. Well, I was tired anyways, so I decided to just quit, save and post the error logs. See... the odd thing is, if Steven John was like too tired or wasn't in the mood, wouldn't he have rejected the Woohoo interaction? But he didn't. They would start to cuddle as if they were going to do it, and then they just separated platonically.  Huh

Anyways, I was wondering if the logs mean anything, or if they are just random and/or indecipherable junk. As far as I can venture, the only thing that may have been involved is the romance mod as far as the woohoo stuff is concerned. And the macrostatics.../clean for the barista dude error.

I do have a ton of new hacks, but most of those are dizzy's stuff, which are unrelated to woohoo: the homework dorm guardian, do homework in bedroom, smart serve, smart lights, and weekly-arsonist. I have recent updates of crammyboy's nudist and cock hacks, as well as portal fix stuff. But I wasn't even using those at the time since the sims weren't naked. Although they are supposed to get naked when doing Woohoo in bed, but it hasn't been a problem before.

The only other possibility is the InSIMenator UV v2 OBJ edition. I just updated that, but I think there is an even newer version by now. I haven't used that in for long whiles and I did not have it spawned on the lot at the time. I only spawn it if I need to tweak or fix something immediately, and then I delete it right away.

Anyhew, I hope something can be made heads or tails of this, even if it turns out to be nothing. I'd just like to know, as I'm worried about how close my game may be approaching critical  bfbvfs status. Tongue Esepecially with NL around the corner, I'm debating on whether to throw away everything and start from scratch? Tongue Which would kinda suck cuz now I've actually really been playing and putting a lot of time in developing my CAS created YAs and I have another new batch that I'm waiting to start on as well. It would just be a big relief to know that this may just be some random error or some possibly easily fixable error.

I chose option 1, but as Ancient Sim said, it's a bit of both 1 and 2 for me. Actually, it is more of a totally different option, in that I've already pre-ordered it, so I guess technically I've already bought it. Tongue

But anyhew, I most likely may not install it until after Pescado and twojeffs and dizzy and all the other great modders manage to update their hacks. I think I waited a bit after daysies had a decent faq up and running. Once it was confirmed that some of the existing hacks were still working and others were determined to be conflicts, I adjusted my hacks folders accordingly and installed Uni. I toyed around a bit with the new features, but I didn't seriously play until after a lot of hacks had been properly updated. Tongue

Anyhew, I pre-ordered because:

A) I wanted the pre-order bonus. I'm a sucker for bonuses. Even if it is supposedly somewhat crappy.

B) I had an EA Games 15$ coupon which I used at the EA store online. Even if the shipping is 5$, it still ends up being cheaper than if I had to buy it in the store.

C) EA usually ships fairly soon, so even it if predicts that it will take a week or 5-7 days after release, it really gets to me, usually in 3 days or less. I've pretty much done this with all the Sims expansions going back to the original, and for the most part, it usually only took 2 days. There was probably one or two occassions where it took 3 days, and the other was like 5 days or something. But I think those times I had pre-ordered fairly late. The other times, I had pre-ordered pretty much as soon as they were available on the EA store website.

I dunno if I'd be brave enough to install it before fixes and try and test things and break things to find bugs. Tongue I suppose I could just play on my Hack Testing account instead of my real account and see what breaks and what not. I'll just have to be really patient and resist the temptation of playing my real game until all possible bugs/conflicts are worked out.

Anyhew, I'm a freak like that. I'm such a video game crack whore, I can't really wait to get the latest games. I spend far too much money that I don't have on video games. I've been trying to really restrain myself and wait on certain games. Especially now that there are PS2 Greatest Hits, XBOX Platinum Hits, and GameCube Player's Choice with some of the best games at reduced price. It's just incredibly hard to resist wanting to buy games as soon as they are released. But it kinda depresses me when I go to a store and see all the games I have for more than half off. Tongue

I guess it's a tough trade off between immediate satisfaction and enjoyment versus saved money. If I had waited, I pretty much could by two and a half games for the price of one totally brand new game. Tongue On the other hand, the excitement sort of dies down around a game that is 9months to a year plus old. That isn't so bad, but for games that are online, like Resident Evil Outbreak, if you wait that long, there's hardly anyone good to play with online anymore.

Anyhew, I really should learn to curb my spending. Especially with PS3 coming around the corner. And I really would like to get a DS and a PSP too. Roll Eyes Well... I'm babbling off topic now so I'll shut up.

I had this problem until yesterday.  Checked a few forums and in my case it was a conflict between JM's moveoutfix and TwoJeffs graduation moveoutfix.  The latter was also stopping people moving out in the main neighbourhod.

Which is twojeffs' graduation moveout fix? I don't remember if I have it. I have most of Pescado's and twojeffs' hacks and fixes. I vaguely recall twojeffs' having a fix for this, but don't remember what hack it was. Is it his Final Exam's hack that is supposed to fix it?

I scanned VS briefly and didn't see anything that immediately stuck out. It wasn't listed under his critical fixes, as far as I know. Unless it is the final exams fix. So... if that is the case, we shouldn't use the final exams fix AND Pescado's moveout fix?

I appreciate any help or clarification. Thanks. Smiley

1442  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Apologizing interaction working backwards on: 2005 August 22, 04:05:14
Well, see, the problem with sim interaction tests is that they're unilateral. The fundamental philosophy is that sims don't have any awareness of what the other party thinks of them, and can only use their own relationship level as a proxy.

Traditionally, I have kept to this assumption with the exception of, for control macros, "...unless the player would be able to see the relationship in its entireity."

Therefore, when a party cheats, the OFFENDED party's relationship drops majorly. The cheater, however, doesn't change his opinion. Thus, his relationship is high, and believes nothing is wrong, while the offended party sees a low relationship, and therefore, has the "Apologize" action available.

This can be trivially changed, but its availability rules would then potentially violate this standard.

Well... it seems fairly reasonable for this interaction to be an exception, in order for it to actually make sense and/or be realistic. Although, we've already pointed out how so much of the Sims is illogical anyways. Tongue

I think that, in this case, it should not only check if the relationship is low/bad to begin with, but maybe it would take into account if the offended party has a low relationship and the offending party had a memory of getting caught cheating or making enemies with or any negative memory that is worth apologizing for or makes sense to apologize for. In that way, the apologizing action wouldn't just show up for all other sims that have a lower relationshi. It should only show up under certain conditions where the offending sim has an actual reason to apologize for. And it certainly doesn't make any sense for the offended sim to have to apologize to the offending party.

Anyways, just a thought of how that should work. I definately would be in favor of a hack to fix this and make it more realistic.

1443  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bathroom Uses You - Yet Another Interesting Semaphoric Scenario on: 2005 August 22, 03:18:43
No, the usual showers that are used in dorm bathrooms don't require any privacy, so unless you were using another shower, they shouldn't have needed privacy to shower.  Are your controllers set for All and not male or female?

Yeah... I wouldn't have thought privacy would have been an issue. This particular dorm has a female and a male bathroom on the 2nd floor, equipped with two bathroom stalls and two public showers in each bathroom. I put two controllers for each stall, and those work fine.

The bathroom that I did have a problem with was a unisex bathroom. It also had two bathroom stalls and two cheap, shower stalls with curtains. I also had two controllers, and they were set to Seek.../All and Room Only. Changing any controller in the same bathroom seems to affect all controllers within the same room. I checked to make sure, just in case something weird was happening, but this was not the problem.

Anyways, dunno why it happened. It was amusing for a bit and I'm glad the loop broke. Just wonderin if anyone else ran into this.

So... and I don't know how I always seem to get these issues, but... looks like I ran into another interesting deadlock dilemma. Don't you just love the lovely alliteration?  Grin

I was playing in another dorm yesterday, goin about my usual business. This time, I added the appropriate number of controllers per toilet. This has solved the issue I had previously, so now my communal bathrooms are actually being used by more than one sim. Works like a charm! Cheesy

But... I noticed something a bit strange and silly in one of the communal bathrooms. This one is unisex or... er bisex... er whatever, it services both males AND females. Well... it seems that, even if there are two controllers, one controller will have a tendency to dominate over the other. As such, that toilet gets used more often than the other, and gets dirtier faster. Actually, that's just something to note, not the Actual problem.

The problem I had was, two dormies were sort of fighting over trying to use the same toilet. I don't know how it happened, but it seems like the controller got a hold of one dormie, who was trying to use the toilet, and somehow another dormie managed to get in there. They were both female. Dormie 1 would try to use the toilet (it was the kind with the green bathroom stall), and Dormie 2 would try to shoo her away. I'm not sure exactly if dormie 2 was trying to use the shower and she was too embarrassed to get nekkid? Or if she was trying to use the toilet instead? I was sort of half interested, and only curious if the cycle would go on forever before I had to intervene. See... after Dormie 2 did the shoo animation, dormie 1, who was like just in the middle of her animation to sit on the toilet, would immediately get up off the toilet and exit the stall. Then, I guess her bladder must have been very low, because she would turn around and sit try to sit back down again. At this point, dormie 2 would try to shoo her away again, and the cycle would repeat. This happened oh, about maybe almost 2 sim hours time. Tongue Who knows how long it had been going on before I noticed. Eventually, the cycle somehow broke, and dormie 1 ran out of the bathroom as if she were ejected by the bathroomusesyou hack, as what usually happens. I don't know if, between her very brief spurts of sitting down, perhaps she managed to empty her bladder finally, after all those cycles, that she was then kicked out?

Anyways, after she ran out, I think dormie 1 went to use the stall that dormie 2 had just ran out from. I can't remember exactly, as admittedly, I stopped paying attention. But I thought that was very strange and somewhat amusing.  Grin

Well... just thought I'd share the unusual stuff I find. At least no one got stuck or froze this time. Tongue

Just curious, is there a privacy issue with dorm bathrooms? I don't think I had ever seen a dormie shoo others out before, unless it was a single bathroom. Anyone else get this?

1445  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Learn To Study on: 2005 August 17, 15:49:45
Learning to study doesn't affect fun drain directly. It does, however, add +3 to the rate of Homework doing (base rate of 3), which doubles the rate at which you complete your homework, and therefore, halves the time you remain affected by homework drain. Having an instructor is an additional +3, for a total of +200% for having the study skill AND receiving help.

Ahhh... interesting. Well... maybe I'll tutor my dormies, so not only to get some money, which I know isn't much, but if anything to speed up their rates so that hopefully they won't leave so much clutter around the dorms.  Roll Eyes

As for the fun thing... maybe Ancient Sim has JenFlowers' sometimes faster fun homework hack? I don't think it affects dorm assignments, but at least for children/teen homework, I believe learning to study boosts speed, and consistently having good grades gives a tiny fun boost instead of drain. Well, here are the features of that hack which you can find here:

Quote from: JenFlower
FEATURES:
1: Serious Students (those with their Playfulness Attribute of 4 bars or less) will get a raise in their Fun Motive while at school and while doing their homework.
2: Students with an A-, A, or A+ will finish their homework faster and get a very tiny fun boost.
3: Students who are being helped with their homework will find that homework is not such a fun-sucker and their social bar should get a tiny boost.
(I added this in so that those student who just can't get an A, will at least have a chance to make homework a little easier for them..It doesn't really raise the fun bar, but they rate at which is goes down will be slower.)
.....and my favorite part....
4: Homework will only be given occasionally. When the student gets off the bus and checks their report card, you will then see a message appear in the right corner of the screen letting you know that they do not have homework that day.

Extra Notes:
1 - The fun increase (for those students who qualify) does not begin until the little blue progress bar begins to rise. The initial few minutes of homework will not be fun, but as the homework progresses, so does the fun.
2 - The student's grade will continue to rise even though they don't get homework. Grades are more affected by undone homework and missing school. I think mood affects this as well. Undone homework will still affect their grade. Make sure they finish the homework they do get.
3 - Some of the fun boosts will be very noticable and others will just keep the fun bar from dropping rapidly. It all depends on the combination of qualities your student has...serious, 'A' students, who are being helped with their homework will see the highest fun boost.

*****************
For those who are highly interested, I can give a quick summary of how homework speed works in the game without this hack:
-Homework speed begins at 3%.
-When the student is being helped by a family member, add an extra 3%.
-After they receive the memory that they have been taught how to study, add another 3%.

With this hack, all of that remains, but I have added a +8 increase to their homework speed when they are an A-, A, A+ student. (I got my Sim to finish his homework in about 1/2 hour - 45 minutes)

Ahh. Duh me. What a fucking dunce.  Lips sealed I didn't even think about that! Am I fucking slow or what?  Embarrassed Durr...

As for the college clock, when you say synchronize, do you mean sims that all started out at the same time? What if you add more sims later? Obviously their college semester will be different. I've done this in one household as a way to sort of have freshmen, sophs, jrs, etc. so that there is a sense of class deviation or whatever.

So, if you use the clock to syncrhonize, does that force other sims that are in other semesters/years also synchronize? It doesn't allow you to individually sync up sims, it pretty much is a blanket thing for the whole lot, right?

Sounds like something is majorly fuxored. Tongue

Does it happen on all lots, or just particular lots? In these affected lots, are there Age Transitions that are about to happen? That's the only thing I can think of. 6:00 PM I believe is the typical Age Transition time...

Did you try removing all your hacks and seeing if this issue still occurs? I'd try the ole Clean Installer sweep, hack removal and then gradual replace, test, rinse, repeat cycle. Tongue

1448  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Locked Wants Roll Away Bug? on: 2005 August 16, 06:49:05
Hey peeps...

So... I vaguely recall someone posting about this before. This may have been back when we were on VS and I don't feel like searchin for that right now. Tongue Besides, I figure it may be better to just start a fresh new thread about it.

So I was wondering if anyone else had this problem? No Error Dialog Box popped up, and no Error Log was produced.

My sim is a Fortune Aspiration at Uni, just at the end of his First Freshman semester. I had his Class Performance bar maxed out and he was just waiting for his exam to roll around. I have twojeffs' class exam hack, and his exam was rescheduled for the morning (originally scheduled for after midnight Tongue).

Anyways, he went to bed and woke up, with the same 4 wants: Join a Greek House, Earn Money, Get on the Dean's List, Earn $100

I had Get on Dean's List locked. But, since he went to bed and woke up with the same wants, I then switched it over to lock the Earn $100 power want, since I knew that his performance was well enough that he would easily satisfy the Dean's List want. He went off to class, time flew by, and he returned, naturally fulfilling the Dean's List want. He got the Asp points, the wants rolled, and with it, the LOCKED Earn $100 power want went away!

As I said, I vaguely recall someone else mentioning this, and Pescado sort of responding with some disbelief. I didn't follow it up, as I figured it may be some hack conflict or just some random Maxian bug. But now that I actually experienced this myself, I'm wondering if anyone else has gotten this, and whether it has been discovered/confirmed to be an actual bug or the unforeseen side effect of some hack?

The majority of my hacks, as always, mostly consist of Pescado and twojeffs' fixes and toys. With a few individual hacks here and there like JenFlower's homework sometimes faster fun thingie and teen woohoo, fwiffo's and almecho's alien related hacks, some of dizzy's food, burgular, and other recent hacks, crammyboy's cock and nude hacks, and various woohoo related stuff (Casual WooHoo, random preg, risky WooHoo, etc.).

I have the newest version of the InSimenator, which looks like it has been overhauled in such a way as even the Sim version should theoretically no longer conflict with other hacks that mod the sim personal menu (I'm still using the Obj version anyways, to be on the safe side).

I currently do not use any of Carrigon's stuff, LizziLove's or the InTeenimater. I have some of that stuff in my Hack Testing account to play with until more stable, reliable version's are available. Or just to fuck around with really.

So... I don't know what could cause this, unless it is something that rarely slips out due to some hack? Or it is just a rare random Maxian bug that is hard to find/detect the cause?

Ste

Other than the InSimenator and the Lot Debugger, I don't have any of the more cheaty type adjuster mods/hacks, like twojeffs' college adjuster or Pescado's college clock. Again, I don't believe in using these cheaty type hacks, and I only use the Lot Debugger and InSimenator for debugging/testing/emergency purposes.
1449  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How Can 1 XP Users Game Be Screwed Up and The Other User's Game Be Fine? on: 2005 August 16, 04:32:50
I can't imagine it would be a problem that would require re-installing the game again. If it works under your account, and has issues on his account, I suspect that maybe something might be wrong with his account settings and/or EA Games folder.

I also suggest backing up his entire EA Games folder. BUT, it may be sufficient to simply just save his Downloads, SavedSims, and Neighborhoods folder. You may also want to back up Collections, Music, and Movies, if he has any customized content there. And also, possibly the Teleport folder. I would say those are the most critical folders to save.

Then... since you are using Windows XP, I suggest creating a new User. I assume you installed sims under an account that had Administrator rights. If that is the case, you also most likely installed it so that All users can run the Sims. So... I think it might be best to create an entirely new account.

Then, back up your son's C:/Documents and Settings/Your Son's Account folders.
In this case, I would say the critical folders would be:
Cookies, Desktop, Favorites, My Documents, Start Menu

Maybe Local Settings. You might not really need Cookies, because those can always be recreated.

However, in the backup you just created for the My Documents folder. I would DELETE the EA Games folder, since you should have a backup somewhere else already of the folders you should save (that I mentioned above).

After backing this up. I would copy all of this over to the new account
C:/Documents and Settings/Your Son's NEW ACCOUNT

Go into this new account, start up the Sims 2. Have it create all the necessary folders and what not. Exit the game.

Now, go to your backup of sims stuff, and copy those folders over into the appropriate places in
C:/Documents and Settings/Your Son's NEW ACCOUNT/My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/

Theoretically, by creating a new account entirely, I would think that it is basically starting with a fresh, clean slate. Then, having the game create all the default stuff, the game should theoretically be clean. And finally, copying all the Sim data you backed up, your son wouldn't have to lose his game.

However, if you find that there is STILL a problem, after all of this, then I would highly suspect something may have been corrupted in your son's Sims 2 game data. Tongue In which case, its fuct and he'd probably have to start from scratch. Tongue

[Edit: I forgot to mention, after you go through all this. You can delete the old account, and rename the new account to the previous name of the old one. Confusing? I hope not. Tongue]

Nope. This is the infamous "Bomb That Destroyed Happy Valley". If you use a pre-Uni lot, you run the risk of blowing your neighborhood to smithereens, especially if you move into it before modifying it in build mode.

What is the solution for this? For any Pre-Uni lots, either unoccupied in the neighborhood or sitting in your lot bin, how can we fix these? You mention something about modifying in build mode. What do we have to modify?

Can we simply just go into each and every unoccupied house, modify something and save, and hopefully this fixes the problem?
