1451  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Request: Turn off Queue Option for Bathroom Uses You with Communal Bathrooms on: 2005 August 07, 09:55:18
The thing was, I wanted to make as few changes to the layout as possible, and without necessarily having rebuild/redesign/remodel what currently exists. Partly because I'm talentless when it comes to that, partly because I want it to remain as close to the original design since we technically can't remodel anyways (what with those tools being disabled by default) and partly because I'm lazy. Tongue

Anyhew, I mostly rearranged the bathroom objects and managed to get the toilet controllers to recognize only the objects within the each individual sex bathroom, and was able to do so using seek/radius to still recognize the showers in the mini room contained within the overall bathroom. I kind of like that it has the archway/doorway and I didn't want to have to be forced to delete doors and leave a gap just for the controller to recognize those showers.

I think you have to be careful which ones you install, though I think Peacado's and TwoJeffs are normally compatible.

Oh they definately are compatible. I have both Pescado's romancemod and twojeffs' Casual Woohoo, as well as JenFlower's Teen Woohoo hack, and they all work fine. So this means one of two things:

a) Pescado's hack corrects the issue of Woohoo affectiong orientation, and I have no problems.
b) Pescado's hack does not correct the issue, and I have no technical problems, just that crappy Maxian logic fails yet again. Tongue

I haven't noticed this however, since my simself is definately very gay orientated, but that is most likely because of all the gay flirts, hugs, and kiss interactions that have built up over time rather than the Woohoos. Which to me seems ludicrious because I would think that, if anything, Woohoo might have a more powerful impact or influence on sexual orientation.  Roll Eyes  I mean, it does make sense that, who you have sex with would most likely affect who you enjoy or prefer to have sex with.

I guess... on the one hand, if you think about it, maybe you can interpret as Maxian philosophy or political views in that they don't regard the actual act of Sex as something that is relevant to orientation. In a way, it almost seems to say that who you have sex with shouldn't matter or necessarily affect who you are as a person. That almost seems noble. On the other hand... it could also be seen as a total disregard of the emotions involved with sex, which seems more likely considering their take on Romance, where such Aspirations lead to wanting 20 plus lovers rather than a lovingly, fulfilling, monogamous committed relationship. A truly romantic sim, at least in my eyes, would be just as interested in say having a long lasting relationship that reaches its "Golden Years" as much as a Family sim would. And being a Family sim, to me, doesn't necessarily equate to Romance. You could just love having kids and raising a family, and not necessarily be romantic towards your spouse/mate. And you can be very romantic without necessarily wanting to have kids or a family.

So, in a way, it could just fall along the lines of Maxiam Romance translating into slutty slutty whoriness. Again, it doesn't matter who you sleep with, the gender of your partner shouldn't affect your orientation because then that would only result in limiting your partners, which according to Maxian logic would be detrimental to the desires of a Romance sim.

Plus, we all know that Maxian logic don't make no sense anyways, so says Pescado. Cheesy

I think twojeffs discovered this when he was working on his Casual Woohoo/Romance hack. I think, at least for his hack, he fixed it so that Woohoo would have the proper effect on orientation.

And I don't know if Pescado's Romance hack fixes it for regular Woohoo, but it would be nice if it did. If does already, that's neat. If it doesn't and this is something that can be added, that would be great, however, I don't know if that means it would then cause conflicts with other Woohoo related hacks.

Unless you're on a community lot, don't use the urinals. They can't be cleaned.

Also, don't use the Grand Trianon bidet in a mixed gender or female bathroom. Female Sims can't use it since it appears to be cloned from the urinal, but the Stalin TP doesn't care.

I was told by the grand pubah hisself, that if a female is pushed onto a controller where there is a urinal, she should supposedly be told to queue instead and wait for the next available "right" object. *shrugs*

Urinals can't be cleaned, like at all? Hrm... I should check this. Anyhew, Pescado says he's working on some updates soon anyways.

1455  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Request: Turn off Queue Option for Bathroom Uses You with Communal Bathrooms on: 2005 August 05, 09:21:17
[Edit: Actually, I just thought of something. What about the male urinal objects? Typically those don't have toilet papers next to them. If I have urinals, I assume they also count as a separate object?]

Are the number of controller nodes less than the number of toilets? I've never observed the queueing problem unless the number of users exceeds the number of controllers, which should be allocated, like in real life, one per toilet. The controller is meant to be used both functionally and decoratively in such a manner: The number of nodes, and therefore, toilets, is signified by the number of controllers: When the number of users exceeds the number of valid controllers, then the controller will queue the remaining sims in order of bladder and place them in a holding pattern.

Ahh... I was unaware of this necessity. I guess maybe I should read the rtfm? Tongue

Ok, I shall rectify this issue by adding more toilet papers. The thing is, the way the bathroom is arranged, there are two bathrooms, one for ladies and one for men on the 2nd floor. Each bathRoom has two public toilets (the toilets with the green stalls) and two public communal showers (the standalone shower thingie you can place on a wall). The two public communal showers are, in turn, enclosed in a smaller sort of sub-room with an archway opening up to the main room of each bathRoom.

So... when I simply configured the controllers to seek... sex (one for male and one for female, in the appropriate bathRoom of course Tongue) the toilets were being used, but the communal showers were overlooked. To fix this, I had to rearrange the toilets and both controllers to Radius ... 3, so they would Only find the objects within their respective bathRooms. This was necessary because a larger radius would result in the female bathroom controller finding the objects in the male bathroom and vice versa. In anycase, since I managed to get the controller to find all the correct objects in the correct room, I just assumed that meant one controller was sufficient as it found all those objects in the room.

Anyways, thanks for clarifying this. I will go purchase more toilet papers right away!

I only just noticed this, and I'm sure your solution will probably be for me to just rebuild the Maxis default dorms... but I'm posting this anyways, risking a lip ripping, with the remote hope that you might consider this. Tongue

I kind of like the idea of communal bathrooms as that is part of the college experience, for some people, and I don't want to redesign the dorm if I don't have to. But, as it works, it seems that Bathroom Uses You only allows one sim to use the bathroom, even if there are several toilets and showers. While I absolutely love this option for dorms and houses where there is only one bathroom or shower, it makes perfect sense for sims to form a queue in those cases.

However, when there's more than ample bathroom objects, it would be more efficient to process more than one sim at a time, and therefore the bathroom should be using more than one sim at a time when sims need to be used. Tongue

Hopefully the fact that this would more efficiently make use of such items would be enough to support my appeal for such an option. Perhaps it could be a togglable feature, just like Seek and Radius. Something to turn off/on queuing.

Anyone else interested in this? Yes? Please? I hope! Cool

Or it could be Darth Sidious.  With JM, it's hard to know.

It's most likely a reference to Darth Vader, as this is somewhat of a bastardization of Obi-Wan Kenobi's line:

"You can't win, Darth. If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine."

Hrm... aside from some updates of Pescado stuffeths, the only recent new stuff I've added would be updates to Crammyboys' cock mods (which I believe does use some Sim Data...?) and mostly your stuff (dizzy2) such as the weekly burglar, work/food delivery, and smart serve. I did download your individual free will plumbob thingie, but I did not install it. I have a tendency to d/l and hoard new and novel hacks on the off chance that I might eventually want to use them, but I don't necessarily install every hack I find. Tongue

1459  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Bathroom Uses You Dormie Door Dance Deadlock Issue? on: 2005 August 03, 08:04:31
How's that for illiteration? I could have added more D-words but...  Tongue

In any case, I just noticed this right now. I queued up a sim to be used by the bathroom, and another sim was in there just about to leave. Now the two sims are stuck in each other's way, one coming and one going, and they are at a stand still. Oddly enough, neither sim will step aside. I know I can just cancel the queue, but again, as with my other issue, I wonder if anyone has run into this before. Is this normal behaviour? I thought that sims normally either give up or one will step aside for the other?

Ok, I just tried to cancel the action, and then the Bathroom Uses You logo spazzed and loaded up my sims queue. I had to make him Go Here outside the bathroom while cancelling all the queued Bathroom Uses You icons. Tongue

Dunno if this is possible to fix. I know that it's already been tweaked like repeatedly to try and avoid deadlocks like these. *shrugs*

1460  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Dormies Exhibiting Bouts of Free Will OFF?!? on: 2005 August 03, 07:52:48
[Edit:]I am noticing a few other dormies exhibiting this dumb standing around doing nothing like I don't have Free Will behaviour. It seems to go away if I make them Selectable with the InSIMenator, however, and usually the next thing queued is the What's This? action with the InSIMenator. Tongue But... I'm guessing that by making them selectable, it probably changes things, because it allows them to do things they normally wouldn't do as dormies, such as try to answer the phone... Anyhew, I'm just wondering if this is strange behaviour that I should worry about, or if this is like normal craptastic Maxian featuresAngry [/Edit]

I don't know if this is bathroomusesyou hack related... but something really odd  Huh happened with my game today. I even turned on the boolprop testingcheatsenabled and no error occurred, but here was the oddity. A dormie in my game seems to be exhibiting bouts of NO Free Will. That is, she seems to just stand there and not do anything. So far... this has happened twice, when I was actually paying attention.

The first time it happened (at least that I noticed, since I normally don't pay attention to dormies Tongue) she was standing in front of the sink in a bathroom. This is why I mention the bathroomusesyou hack, since normally it kicks every out right away after they're done using stuff. I just noticed her standing there. In any case, she stood there for a good 10 to 20 sim minutes, NOT moving. She wasn't using any of the items, and all the items were useable (i.e. not broken). Yet, she was standing in front of the sink, facing AWAY from the sink, after she had just used it. I clicked on her and all interactions seemed normal, so I just called her over, and she finally walked out of the bathroom. *shrugs* She then proceeded to act "normal."

The second time I noticed this behaviour was when she returned from class. She stood there for a long while in front by the mailbox. I don't have Merola's Mind Control Mirror thingie, but I do have the InSIMenator, which comes in handy for such situations. I made her Selectable, and then I saw that she had the Bass guitar on her queue, which is on the roof. I went to check the roof, and oddly enough, the bass was Unoccupied. So, that's weird because there was nothing really obstructing her path or preventing her from interacting with the bass if she wanted to. Yet, she just stood there. Finally, after a little while, the interaction dropped out of her queue and then she went to check out the InSIMenator (I don't have the nowhatsthis hack because, sadly, I find that really amusing  Grin). After that, she went back to "normal" again.

Anyone else have these weird things happen in their game? I guess I will be on the look out if something happens again, but I just find this behaviour very strange.  Roll Eyes

Val did the terrain surgery and one of her houses ended up in a mountain. Many others were lost at sea if I remember correctly (although she forgot to do a screenshot...ahem). When you do the surgery, the houses will be scattered all over the place and you have to manually move them so they sit on a road-side. AncientSim's houses were all invisible after the surgery, and Ancient had to mouse over the new terrain to find them, but I think that was so because something was done/left undone before surgery.

I probably wouldn't want to do this, but what is this terrain surgery that you speak of? [/said the curious cat... Tongue]

As Posie Flump mentioned, the genetics for eye color is a bit more complex than simple mendelian genetics. Here is a sample of info which I found here:

Quote
At one time scientists thought that a single gene pair, in a dominant/recessive inheritance pattern, controlled human eye color. The allele for brown eyes was considered dominant over the allele for blue eyes. The genetic basis for eye color is actually far more complex. At the present, three gene pairs controlling human eye color are known. Two of the gene pairs occur on chromosome pair 15 and one occurs on chromosome pair 19. The bey 2 gene, on chromosome 15, has a brown and a blue allele. A second gene, located on chromosome 19 (the gey gene) has a blue and a green allele. A third gene, bey 1, located on chromosome 15, is a central brown eye color gene.

Geneticists have designed a model using the bey 2 and gey gene pairs that explains the inheritance of blue, green and brown eyes. In this model the bey 2 gene has a brown and a blue allele. The brown allele is always dominant over the blue allele so even if a person is heterozygous (one brown and one blue allele) for the bey 2 gene on chromosome 15 the brown allele will be expressed. The gey gene also has two alleles, one green and one blue. The green allele is dominant to the blue allele on either chromosome but is recessive to the brown allele on chromosome 15. This means that there is a dominance order among the two gene pairs. If a person has a brown allele on chromosome 15 and all other alleles are blue or green the person will have brown eyes. If there is a green allele on chromosome 19 and the rest of the alleles are blue, eye color will be green. Blue eyes will occur only if all four alleles are for blue eyes. This model explains the inheritance of blue, brown and green eyes but cannot account for gray, hazel or multiple shades of brown, blue, green and gray eyes. It cannot explain how two blue-eyed parents can produce a brown-eyed child or how eye color can change over time. This suggests that there are other genes, yet to be discovered, that determine eye color or that modify the expression of the known eye color genes.

Obviously real life genetics is far more complex than whatever spaghetti-coded engine the game uses to determine sims genetics. Tongue

I also wanted to note that just because a trait is dominant does not necessarily and explicitly mean that it is the most commonly expressed. The age old example is polydactyly, the autosomal dominant trait of having an extra digit (finger or toe). Although this trait is dominant genetically, it is not commonly seen phenotypically (expressed visually). In other words, dominance does not necessarily translate into high frequency. There are several examples of traits that are dominant, but just not found in the general population. The association and confusion probably arises due to semantics since the word "dominant" has a connotation that seems to imply that the population should have an abundance of this trait.

To put it simply, a dominant trait, in a simple case of mendelian genetics, is the trait that will ALWAYS be expressed over the recessive trait. In a simple example, you have two allelles for a certain gene, one from your father and one from your mother. Either of these traits can be dominant or recessive. In most cases, it requires two recessive alleles in order for that trait to expressed. Dominance dictates what trait is expressed, it does not necessarily affect how frequent this trait is expressed in the population. This is when natural selection comes into play. Theoretically, if the trait is adaptively advantageous, then supposedly it would be more commonly expressed in the population, since it may supposed help in the survival of its carriers, who could then go on to produce offspring and pass along the advantageous adaptation. In some cases, certain diseases or deformities are dominant. However, because the expression of these conditions are deterimental or even fatal, these traits tend to not get passed on to further generations, and therefore that is why they are not as commonly expressed in the general population.

Here endeth the mini lesson on simple genetics. [/geek]

Hehe, I hope that made sense and I hope I didn't pass on too much misinformation. Feel free to correct me as I often talk out of my ass anyways. Tongue Plus, in the ever changing, ever growing field of biology and genetics, something new is always springing up and changing the way we think and understand how things work. Cheesy

gah? Sorry to hear that. Man... but I sympathize as I'm sure I've done some equally bone-headed things and I would most likely probably also lotbin an occupied house that I thought was unoccupied. Tongue Sorry, no offense about the bone-headed comment. Hehe.

Anyhew, just so's I know, where exactly was this lot that you found hiding in a mountain, just so that I don't repeat this error by accident myself. lol

And... if this only recently happened, hopefully then all the no character data files will be numbered as the most recently added and hopefully you can delete all of those without a problem if they are at the end of the list.

Before I knew about the lotbin issue, I had moved in two families from my sister's game, and since then have created several other sims and added Uni to my game.  Roll Eyes So it's kind of too late for me to try and clean up those files. *sighs* I'm settling for trudging along until my game blows up into a bfbvfos.

1464  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sims2Exception Game Crash Log on: 2005 August 01, 09:22:35
Does it always crash when you do that? I don't know, but it sounds more like the VM choked or maybe you have bad RAM. You might want to run a memory checker just to be sure.

Nope. It just happened today. I just tried to re-create the situation, and it did not happen. Obviously I most likely could not reproduce the exact stutation, as I have no idea what the dormies were doing and if they might have caused the crash rather than my playable sims. *shrugs* But, as far as my playable sims were concerned, I did everything the same as before, and they pretty much ended up in the same condition and at the place as they had been. Two of my sims were then told to call their friends... and then the game froze and got stuck in an audio loop of the currently selected/zoomed in sim and then crashed. This hasn't really happened before, but if it does, usually if my game does crash, it's due to some detectable error, or an error dialog pops up. So... since I had just updated some hacks, and the game was working fine the last time I played, I just assumed that it might be related to the updated hacks.  Tongue

It could very well be my craptastic computer. Admittedly, I was having problems earlier in the week when my computer continually froze on me while attempting to run the sims. However, I had also just updated some hacks AND I also removed a skintone and was trying to fix a sim using SimPE. I don't know if all of that was related to causing my harddrive to barf. After a lot of frustration and attempt at troubleshooting, I was ready to give up and reformat my hard drive, since it got to the point where it wasn't even bootable (well the OS wouldn't load...). Anyways, it somehow magically fixed itself after a diskchk and managed to backup my data. I set it all back, reverted to a previously saved Neighborhood and deleted my group.cache file. That seemed to have fixed it. But who knows, maybe this is just remenants of the previous issue. Or maybe this is just my game telling me that is soon going to burst into a bfbvfo.  Roll Eyes

If this happens again, I guess I'll see if I get an error log and post that. *shrugs*

Btw, is there a windows tool for checking memory? Or do you have any suggestions of free software that I can get to check my memory? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I usually do my best to try and keep a clean system, defragging and disk clean up, as well as running anti virus software and scanning with hijackthis, ad-aware, and spybot on occassion. I'm hoping to someday scrape up enough loot to buy another 512MB of system RAM. But for now, I'll have to make due with what I have.

1465  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Sims2Exception Game Crash Log on: 2005 August 01, 08:06:58
*grah*

So I just updated some hacks today, as I always do before I start playing my game, and while at Uni, I had two sims using the Call... Friends via autoyakyak, and the game just crashed on me.

What happened was, two of the sims were talking, and then I double clicked on one of them to zoom into him, and then the audio started looping while the screen sort of just froze. I couldn't click on anything and the game crashed.

I don't know if this Sims2Exception log will help at all, but I figure I'd post it anyways and risk my lips. :p

Ste

I suppose I could just revert to my backuped hacks and see if the problem still occurs. But I figure I might as well post anyways just in case it is a problem you can easily sort out.

PS. It turns out that I did not have testingcheatsenabled on, so I will try that and see if an error pops up and if I can get a log that way.

FYI: Of the hacks that I updated today, most of them included yours:
autoyakyak v0.95a
macrostatics v0.86
phonehack v6.8
skillinator v0.7a
moneyorder v2.1b
nossrespawn v1b

Aside from that, I also updated to
dizzy2's smart-serve-1g

Crammyboy's nudist hack v129
Crammyboy's cock hack v139

Neither of these seem to interfere with your hacks at all and would be totally unrelated to phones.

And... afaik, dizzy2's hack doesn't seem to interefere with macrostatics eat, at least not in any noticeable way in my game. But I've only been playing in Uni lately, and so I always have that NPC chef dude to serve food. I haven't had to actually have my own sims serve food at all yet.

1466  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Too many files/sims explanation for dummies needed on: 2005 July 31, 20:07:09
Oh. I constantly do backups. Usually after a major update of some major hacks, just in case something unexpected happens. :p So yeah, I usually backup the entire The Sims 2 folder, if not just the Downloads, Neighborhoods, and SavedSims folders. But my neighborhood is actually buggered as it is, because I made the terrible mistake of importing two lotbinned families. This was done before it was none that doing so buggers your game. :p

I attempted to look through my neighborhood and see if I could clean things up and delete files and what not, but there were just far too many clones and junk that I didn't want to deal with it. It is probably more trouble that it's worth and I'm afraid I would either delete the wrong files or that it would still get even more buggered than it was in the first place.  Roll Eyes Just thinking about it all gave me a headache, so I've decided to opt for living in denial and turning a blind eye or whatever. I'll just play this game until it bursts into a bfbvfos and I'll have to start over. Pretty much the way that I'll have to drive my car into the ground before I even think about getting a new one. :p

1467  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Too many files/sims explanation for dummies needed on: 2005 July 31, 19:47:31
I don't recall specifically what has been said, so I guess I'll ask this, although I'm sure it's already been brought up previously:

Is it a bad idea to have more than one Uni attached to your neighborhood? I thought it's a neat idea because it would give the illusion that there is more than one choice for university and that my sims wouldn't all necessarily go to the same "community" college. Is there anything especially dangerous about having more than one Uni, or is it just the fact that it adds to same issue of the ever-building, ever-increasing size of neighborhoods and number of files leading to your game blowing up in a big fiery ball visible from outerspace problem?

I've started to take measures as far as exporting my CAS made sims and documenting their zodiac signs/personality point distribution so, if need be, I can recreate them should my game blow up and I have to start from scratch. :p But for now, I'm willing to take my chances, especially since I have all the critical fixes so far. I don't want to start from scratch now as it is, since I've put in so much play time. I don't know what's worse, just playing now as is until it 'splodes or having to start over fresh now. I guess I'm just in denial and trying to avoid the inevitible, but I really don't want to start over now if I don't really have to. :p

I wonder, did the first Sims have any of these sort of problems? I've practically new to the whole Sims modding community since I never used any hacks for the first Sims. Heck, I wasn't even aware that there were such things. I pretty much stuck to only using "official" new objects from the EA/Maxis official Sims site. And I didn't really care that much to go searching for new objects or even new skins really for the first Sims.

Oh well. I guess I'll just trudge along desperately hoping to avoid the fateful fiery ball for now. I just don't have the heart or energy to give up on my sims as they currently exist. :p

1469  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Mascot Frozen Problem on: 2005 July 26, 06:53:54
Ok. I'm not quite sure if this is related to the bathroomusesyou hack, but... I was playing in Uni today and I noticed that a Mascot (a good one, it was a Llama) was in a house I hadn't played in a while. I created a new set of students and combined them with the household and went into the dorm. The mascot was already in the middle of using the bathroom. I sent one of my new students, a popularity sim that I plan to make into a big man on campus type, so I figured why not get him to socialize with the mascot.

Well... he ended up getting stuck waiting outside the bathroom for the mascot to come out, and the mascot was just sorta stuck/frozen standing in the bathroom. This is while I had chosen Macro... Socialzie... Friendly. Well... I cancelled out of that, and the Mascot walked out... then he walked into another bathroom and took a leak. Then, after flushing, he just stood there frozen.

I waited for a while to see if anything happened. I tried using the Call Over action, but the mascot just stood there. Anyways, I don't know if it is  bathroomusesyou related or if the Macro/Socialize did something? I have mostly your hacks, twojeffs, some of dizzy's new stuff, and other few minor random things.

The only other things I could imagine might be related to this issue are twojeffs' Always Wash Hands after using the toilet hack or maybe twojeffs' Cow Mascot head? which I actually doubt, since it is only supposed to react to bad Cow mascots... Anyways, I ended up forcing an error on the mascot, and then I choose reset. He went through the stupid "Gerbitz" cheer routine, then he used the bathroom and got stuck/frozen again after flushing.

I will post the error log and maybe you could tell me if there's something hack related? Or should I just delete him, chalk it up to a fluke, cross my fingers and hope it doesn't happen again. :p

I was about to give up, and then I went back to the discuss.html page and thought I would take a chance and see if you possibly kept all the usernames and login info from VS and just transferred it over to your site. So... I took the chance and tried to login, which brought me here to the forums, but I then had to register. :p At least, if I am remembering that all correctly and I am not on crack and making this all up.  Roll Eyes I'm pretty sure I'm not on crack.

Anyhew, I read reg's story, and it was great! I love those "Do I know you? Do you live here?" bits. That totally cracked me up! Ok, maybe I am on crack.  Grin

Okay, you sneak! Which one are you? Left or right? Wink

Heheh, which one do you think I am?

Psst... I'm on the right.

Or should that be top or bottom?

(Okay, I'm bad. I'm shameless. I simply cannot resist being set up so perfectly.)

((I'm sure syberspunk will take that in the spirit it was written. I hope.))

Cheesy Hehe, one doesn't usually find that out until after we've been out on a few dates.

Ok, who am I kidding, it's after the first date really.

And... I might have a preference, but whether I am on top or on the bottom depends on my mood.
Wink

So... first of all, I just wanna say that what I am really lovin' about this site so far is that the people that I've liked from VS are here too. At least, IMHO, the ones that seemed the most vocal and the most intelligent or at least the most fun and entertaining. Grin And I am definately happy to see that. Plus, I really love the attitude that Pescado just seems to bring out in everyone. As far as I'm concerned, the best people there were the ones the supposedly high IQ ones. :p

And when I say this, I mean it as a compliment. I mean, I read that thread you guys were talking about, and I'm not sure exactly who those people were complaining about, but I really liked the sort of condescending, sarcastic camaraderie that was sort of nurtured and encouraged here. I mean, it's all in good fun and anyone who takes it so personally and seriously deserves to be made fun of.  Roll Eyes I mean really, it ain't so bad to develop a thickened skin, right? It's the fucking internet! It's a fucking message board! Go  Cry me a river while I play the saddest song in the world on the tiniest violin in the world for god's sake.

But meh, maybe that's just my own embittered, jaded attitude? It's not that bad really. Just laugh at yourself while you're laughing at others too. I don't see what the big fuss was all about and I don't see why that thread had to be closed. It's kind of odd though, because it does seem a bit uneven to, on the one hand be fine with the complaining of MTS2 and yet still censor an avatar that really is only suggestive if you, yourself read something into it. Hell, I'm as dirty-minded as they come, and I really didn't think much of it myself. Except, well no offense, but I thought the outfit was a bit tacky or just wayyy too busy with the colors. Heh, but other than that, I didn't see anything explicitly sexual about it that could potentially corrupt any underaged kids by things they couldn't normally see in the game anyways.

Oh yeah, and I totally love the new front page with its bold logos, fonts, and graphics. When I first came here, I was almost deterred by the pay site thing. That gag was absolutely brilliant! AND, I even tried to log in via the membership link, so if Pescado has a thing to capture login information, he definately has mine. lol. Boy am I ever so not clever.  Roll Eyes

I wonder how many other nimrods made it past that page thinking that they could login as well. It would be really funny if you made an authentic looking subscribe page too.

Anyways, off to get some grub and read some of reg's stories.  Smiley

I could be way off here, but by chance was this choice of words inspired by a cancelled television show (Fox) called Firefly?

If so, then Shiny!

Eeeeeeeeeeee!!! I can't wait to see Serenity!!!!

Gorrammit networks! Why do they have to go and cancel all the good shows! First Firefly and then Angel! Grrr!!! Argh!!!  Angry

The VariousSimmers web-site, Vampires forum under F**king Mod the Sims2, page 2, around post # 40. That's around about where it starts and it goes steadily downhill from there.

Freoninferno's original, cute avatar is still viewable on the MTS2 site. I guess you were lucky that the watchdogs never caught on to your avatar Cheesy

Guess I'll have to read that thread. I'll go find it. But I've seen freoninferno's avatar before and I didn't see anything wrong with it. It looked a bit kinky, but it wasn't like super racy or anything. I mean, what's the big deal? God, people are such lame-ass whiners. I mean, if this was a pic of an in-game event, why should they complain since it's something that is typical and possible in the game? Do these people play their Sims 2 game so fucking totally sterile and in such a boring manner that they refrain from using WooHoo at all? These are the type of people who are so fucking frigid and uptight about sex, I bet they barely enjoy it. They think of it as some awful, uncomfortable, unemotional and unpassionate event that must only be done in the missionary position with their eyes closed while they are praying at the same time trying to cleanse themselves of dirty, impure, and unholy thoughts. :p I mean seriously, get a grip, as much as it claims to be a "life-simulator" it is still a game! The same thing goes for Jack Thompson (or whatever his name is). Don't these peopl have better things to do with their lives?

I posted this explanation in another thread: (Note it mentions you Smiley)

It was the shot in the game where one Sim is about to jump onto the Sim on the couch during the make-out session. All you could see of the 'jumpee' was lower legs/feet and the jumper was completely clothed. I still don't get it. Syberspunk's avatar (which I think is hot, btw..lol) is a picture of two guys in bed kissing, not Sims, people. No problem with that one, though. Since R**tech never did explain her 'reasoning', I suppose we'll never know. Supposedly 7 people (out of about 600 registered users at the time) complained.

I'll have to find this thread too. As I said, I saw that avatar and didn't think anything was controversial about it. You're right about mine though, I mean if anything, I imagined that would have been cause for alarm. Admittedly, I do like attention, the attention whore that I am Wink and do like to attempt to push boundaries sometimes, but really, what's wrong with two boys kissing? It is hot and it is sexy and that's life. Nothing wrong with boys expressing love or just pure, flat-out, plain passion for each other. Especially when one of them is me.  Grin That just seems really crazy and out of hand. But I guess, on the other hand, it is someone else's site and they can run it however they hell they want. But I also agree that it seems uneven. I guess I am lucky. *shrugs*

Oh well, whatever the case, it seems a shame how that turned out. But I'm kinda glad Pescado has his own site. As much as I like VS, it's getting a bit waaaaaaaaayyy too crowded there as it is. And although I really really loved having twojeffs finally come over there and have a place where I could get both his and Pescado's hacks together was very convenient, it's not that big of a deal really. Just gives me yet another site to log onto and browse around and read and post. More drugs to feed my addiction. :p

PS. Where are these reggikko authored stories? I think I'd like to read them.  Grin

If you want to implement rules, be consistent. The avatar in question did not bother me in the least, but they have at least one member there who delights in calling people "crackhead", makes constant references to 'crack' and has in his/her signature under location the following: "Where do you think, CrackHead?"
I find this far more bothering than everything else I have come across since the break-up.

Can someone fill me in and describe to me what was this so-called questionable avatar? I love a fantabulously ridiculous heated controversy and juicy delightfully delicious gossip!  Grin  Please enlighten me! As I missed all of the wonderfully exciting drama! This sounds almost better than Desperate Housewives, and that's nearly impossible to top right now.  Cheesy

If by "Burninate" you mean setting things ablaze in a semi-criminal manner, than somewhere on VariousSimmers there's an object that lets Sims to do the "Burn Look" found on early videos of the game.  I have not personally tried it, but it sounds absolutely wonderful.

Yeah, I think I've seen that. It might be under Carrigon's stuff or something. Maybe I'll check that out, but I was thinking less sci-fi, more troubled teenage angst. You know? So like say that goth Pleasant chick could accidentally start a fire that burns the house down, or at least part of it. The part where her perky, annoying twin sister gets accidentally trapped in. *(not so) innocent whistle*

This is easily accomplished by just using buyable fire, of course. But it would be neat if, say a sim could actually "Start Fire(s)" via a mod, and get a memory of "Started a Fire" and "Burned House Down" or something to that effect. These of course would be positive memories if the sim was very mean and maladjusted.

Anyways, just something from my own sick, demented imagination. And maybe something totally unrelated, it would be neat to see a cigarette smoking hack. You could say buy them at a store or what not. If your sim started young, say teenish, they could become addicted to it. If they didn't smoke at least once a week, at first, one of their needs takes an extreme hit, say fun or something. While a sim is smoking, their hunger meter and fun go up, but maybe their energy goes down, as energy sort of indicates "health" in a way. And maybe a sim can randomly die of lung cancer. Other sims can also randomly die, with a very slight chance though, of 2nd hand smoke. With that in mind, other sims near a smoker would also take a hit to their energy (due to 2nd hand smoke).

Also:
Sims could also get the option of smoking after WooHoo.
Sims could socialize while smoking: they could bum smokes from each other, or light each others cigarettes.
And if a sim is really addicted, they would need to smoke once a day, or maybe even to the extreme, 2 or 3 times a day.

Wouldn't that be neat and totally realistic?  Grin

I'm actually not a smoker myself. But my best friend, my dad, and the hubby are.  Roll Eyes
I doubt this would be possible, but hey, if the dueling lightsabers was possible, why not? You probably wouldn't have to make any new animations, just add a new mesh of a cigarette sticking of of a sims hand when they are smoking. New meshes would be required though for the actual box of ciggies, which could be sold at magazine stands.

Oh well. Just another sick, demented little thought of mine.  Tongue
