8 - neat (snirk)

Yeah, I agree that the Neat scoring is a bit off.  As I look around my immediate surroundings (which are a true mess), I can't come close to justifying my score of 6.  That is at least 2 points too high.  Snirk indeed!
52  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: AMAZING Sims story - with a vampire boyband! on: 2005 December 04, 02:58:41
FYI - Episode 17 of Deception Pass was posted on the Live Journal site yesterday.  Lots of twists and turns.  I loved it.
53  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Winrar has hijacked my zip files!! on: 2005 December 04, 02:53:44
Brynne - You're not alone.  I also use the free WinRAR client.  This type of software is nicknamed nag-ware for a reason.  If I find that I'm using a nag-ware program on a regular basis for a long period of time, I will consider buying it.  I bought the original WinZip for this reason.  But WinRAR is different - I only use it because others post downloads in that format.  When I'm making my own compressed file archives, I'll use WinZip.  If I used WinRAR for my own purposes rather than being forced to use it because others chose to, then I'd consider sending them some money.
54  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Sims Personality Test on: 2005 December 04, 01:13:07
Many of you have posted your sim-likeness on this board along with your personality characteristics, so I thought this link would be appropriate for those who want a second opinion:http://www.personalitylab.org/tests/bfi_sims.htm

According to the test, I'm 6 Neat, 3 Outgoing, 4 Active, 7 Playful, 7 Nice.
55  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Another Inventory problem on: 2005 December 03, 17:12:40
Well, inventory items are stored in the same section as memories, so open up the neighborhood in SimPE, go to the Neighborhood Memory section, and find the sims in question.  Look through their memories and find any items with a non-zero Inventory Number and delete them.

I don't know if it will work, but it sounds like a reasonable option to me.   Smiley

I didn't know either until I asked here a while back: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?topic=830.msg29880#msg29880
57  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Not able to buy groceries downtown on: 2005 December 01, 23:51:36
You can't buy groceries downtown unless you live downtown.  The game needs to be able to find your refrigerator in the neighborhood that you are buying groceries in, and your refrigerator is not in downtown.

The standard windows command prompt will allow you to do some mass file renaming operations, like:
Code:
rename *alpha.jpg *beta.jpg
which would rename 1alpha.jpg, 2alpha.jpg, and 3alpha.jpg to 1beta.jpg, 2beta.jpg, and 3beta.jpg.

Would this trick reduce the tedium of file renaming for you guys?
59  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: POLL OF THE WEEK: Does BlueSoup Have A Fat Head on: 2005 November 28, 04:54:32
Hey now, how much did he pay you to say that?

I received no monetary inducement for that remark.  It's not a bad head, but in that picture at least, it looks a little wide.

None of us are perfect.  My hairline is receding more on the left side than the right.  I get vertigo when looking in the mirror.
60  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: POLL OF THE WEEK: Does BlueSoup Have A Fat Head on: 2005 November 28, 04:49:58
Maybe it's the hair, but her head does look a little wide...
61  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Eyebrows lost in a Fire on: 2005 November 27, 15:12:00
Nope - These were standard Maxian eyebrows.  I looked through the fire code (Group 0x7FD0A790 in objects.package) and I looked through Pescado's fire mod and I didn't find anything eyebrow related in either one.  I guess I was hallucinating.  So much for sanity.
62  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Eyebrows lost in a Fire on: 2005 November 27, 05:06:33
When the FFS automatic wardrobe kicked in on one of my graduating sims, I noticed that she didn't have any eyebrows anymore.  She was recently involved in a nasty cooking accident in the dorms.  If you'll remember, the flavor text for the Fire! memory is Yeeowch, that was hot! I think my eyebrows are gone. . .

So to check my sanity - Can a fire really burn off a sim's eyebrows, or was I hallucinating again?
63  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Another deleted goodbye on: 2005 November 22, 04:02:09
Hiya Hobbsee!  Glad to see you here.  Oh - And while we're on the subject of age, I'm an old fogey of 38.
64  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sharing neighborhoods - Simpotence thread on: 2005 November 11, 04:07:43
Thank you so much for the compliment, but I am a woman. female. girl. with ta-ta's.

*bows. adjusts her bra strap. exits stage right, grinning.*

Can we see pictures?  Just to remove all doubt, mind you.    Grin
65  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: is there a doctor in the house? on: 2005 November 10, 23:17:52
Ness - Hang in there and don't stress-out.  It will just lead to more headaches!  Smiley

Best wishes for a benign diagnosis.
66  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Please, come visit my TS2 Hall of Fame (Interview with Pescado already there) on: 2005 November 09, 23:10:13
Or Mr. (Ms.?) Virgali as the case may be. Wink

Her profile says she's a 22 year old female from the Netherlands, so I'd go with Ms.

But of course Virgali would be the final authority on the proper title that should be used.  I suggest Empress.  It has a nice ring to it.
67  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I have Simpotence on: 2005 November 09, 22:54:27
What I would love to see in the Sims is something like the technology trees of 4X games.  Examples:

If you don't teach your toddler to speak, then the adult sim is mute - no phone conversations, no jokes, etc.  Can't even propose marriage.

If you don't potty train your toddler, then they won't use a toilet in adult life.  This might actually be desirable in the email challenge.

Only sims that can speak and have a playful attribute greater than 5 can tell jokes.  Only sims that can tell jokes and have at least one affair memory can tell dirty jokes.

The basic premise is that a sim's personality and experiences (memories) determine what actions are possible for that sim to perform.  A mod like this would be huge and ungainly, as it would modify a lot of the global interaction files, but I think if done correctly, would add a lot to the game.
68  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Battle of the Aspirations on: 2005 November 05, 03:29:53
I like all the original aspirations, but Pleasure and Cheese don't do much for me.  I've only run one sim with the Pleasure aspiration and I had a terrible time keeping her in the green.  All she wanted to do was blow bubbles all day.   Angry  And Cheese is just monotonous.   Sad

I'd love to see a different "backfire" aspiration instead of Cheese - something more like Psychotic.  Big points for making enemies, getting into fights, getting caught cheating, pranks, drinking the essence of other sims, and making zombies; major fears of making friends, getting hugged, having a good conversation, etc.   Grin
69  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Welcome, TwoJeffs! on: 2005 October 31, 01:57:29
And what's wrong with being an Asinine Airhead?  Some of us are just more reticent than others.  Grin
70  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Welcome, TwoJeffs! on: 2005 October 31, 01:46:50
Welcome TwoJeffs!  May your burnination be hot enough to sever the nerve endings first.
71  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Well, that's ONE way to get out of doing the dishes on: 2005 October 25, 23:32:51
It was as though there was a bowl inside the bowl  Huh

That would be the food inside the bowl.  I had the same thing happen with a plate of pancakes (which made it a little more obvious that the food and the dish were separate objects).

PS - You'll need a MacroMedia Flash Player to get the full effect.
73  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Don't hate me because I have to pee... on: 2005 October 19, 02:57:36
The Bathroom Red X thing isn't related to pathfinding at all, because it will happen even whenother  sims are stationary or even doing something else which is nonmobile. It is a mystery.

My current theory on the Bathroom Red X phenomena is that it is part of the detection code for "lose bladder control at party" scenario.  But I don't know what controller object would be monitoring bladder changes so closely.  I may have to go poke around in some BHAV code now...
74  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lots that simply won't load... on: 2005 October 18, 18:39:55
They'll be in the last place you look for them (because you'll stop looking once you've found them, of course).

Sorry - no clue which CD they'd be on.
75  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lots that simply won't load... on: 2005 October 18, 18:26:43
If it is affecting things in multiple neighborhoods, then I'd check your game directory (Somewhere around here: C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Nightlife\TSData\Res\NeighborhoodTemplate\D001\Lots) and see if the lot templates got corrupted.  Again, these should be somewhere on the install CD if you want to compare them to the originals.
