76  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's on YOUR Wish List? on: 2008 April 28, 08:57:46
A macro to accomplish serial hand-washing in the Apocalypse Challenge.
An Absolutely No Autonomous Cooking Of Lobster Thermidor EVAR Hack (or does this exist and I'm too blind to find it?)
A Vampires Act Like Vampires Hack (yeah, yeah, Shaklin--but Shaklin's stuff is ancient, non-updated and nonAwesome.)
77  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sims should radiate social... on: 2008 April 27, 04:26:02
Power Idle, however, has them STFU, because letting them open their yaps is potentially destructive.

How is it potentially destrutive? Because they might talk about subjects they don't agree on and 'damage' relationship?
78  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sims should radiate social... on: 2008 April 25, 01:39:43
Hm, odd that Power Idle shouldn't raise social. They do get that boost if you tell them to sit on the sofa together. I wonder if J.M. could tap into that for Power Idle.

For the record, I've got macrotastics, but rarely use Power Idle. If they got a social rise when doing nothing together, I might use it more.
79  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Rave about starter homes and 20k? Loan, we need loans! on: 2008 April 21, 03:01:55
I seem to have a different play style. Making Sims more realistic isn't really my aim. I think of it in terms of "This is how things work in Simland." My sims often start with a 10k trailer, where they live until they have too many kids. Then, they get moved to a new, empty lot. Their house evolves a room at a time, as they have the money. I like this style--I get to play the career game, and have little building sessions, too.

And sometimes I get really interesting houses that I wouldn't have built that way otherwise.

Well, no wonder my searching failed...

Emma is properly bahhed at.
81  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Editing Sims 2 SC4 terrains on: 2008 April 15, 22:01:41
I've got a thing for the Strangetown template (or terrain, or whatever you call it in this context), but sometimes it just doesn't have enough roads. Is it possible to import/open the terrain templates that come with Sims 2 in Sim City 4? And how would I go about it? My Google-fu has totally failed on this subject.
82  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Carpool not showing/no hour warning? on: 2008 April 12, 04:59:05
You could also try:

1) Sketch a floor plan or take a few screenshots (in build mode, with the grid showing) of the layout of the house;
2) Referring to your floor plan/screenshots, build a copy of the house on a new, unoccupied lot;
3) (Optional) Dump the new copy in the lot bin for future use;
4) Move your sim into a nice, unborked version of the house on a nice, unborked lot.

Which is something I've wanted to say I don't know how many time to the question of one borked lot in the game (where the problem is not global). In this case, you'd have a good copy with no improper zoning problem, have the same house, that you liked enough to download, without the no-carpool problem, could build it on a level lot, and a larger lot to accommodate a driveway.
83  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: My Ramaswamis are clones.... on: 2008 March 30, 09:09:59
I believe that under ACR the number of children the couple already has effects the odds, and may have lowered their chances. You might be better off resorting to EAxis Try For Baby in that case.

(Though I recently had a couple that, according to ACR, were supposed to be get pregnant, but didn't. Positive rolls, but no chimes, no baby. I uninstalled and reinstalled ACR, on the off chances that there was a problem with the files on my computer, and after that it worked properly.)

Gaining cleaning skills: Tinker with shower until it breaks, then mop up puddles for hours.

Also, non-FT strategy: Make sim zero-neat-points, add cheap shower, mop up puddles for hours.
85  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sims can't cook on: 2008 March 24, 05:11:47
Do they jump and hey, presto no food, or do you get an error message? Have you tried replacing the fridge, stove or anything else they're trying to cook with?

Is it only in one house, or gamewide? If it's only one house, you've probably checked for stuck tiles and stuff like that.
86  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Wish: Fix some useless features.. and something about FFSdebugger on: 2008 March 13, 11:40:45
I'm going to do one thing for you before the carnage commences:

userStartup.cheat

Go ye forth unto the internet and search on that phrase.
87  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: EA/Maxis has found the Nvidia problem! on: 2008 March 13, 11:33:45
I do not have boucoup amounts of RAM. I have NVidia. And most pathetically, I am a dial up user. Because of that, I never try to play this game while online.

When I had the base game, and even when I had an EP or two, I left security programs running. Blue Screen of Death, like clockwork. Once I installed Seasons, I knew that wasn't going to work at all on my crappy machine. Now I shut down Avast AV, ZoneAlarm, and just about everything else, up to and including Explorer.exe.  I haven't seen blue screen of death in ages, because I basically give Sims free run of my RAM.

So I agree with EA, it's a memory issue. Whether it originates with anti-virus or Sims 2 itself is up to the tech-type people to figure out, but I know when Sims 2 is running alone, I get no BSoD.

(And it says in the game booklets to shut down anti-virus and crash guard programs before running Sims. I just looked.)
88  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Entire Sims and lots missing after crash on: 2008 March 12, 09:50:14
Does BFBVFS really apply when you move occupied lots into subhoods of the same neighborhood?

Because that sounds like what Larxene may have done. I see no mention of moving lots into an entirely different neighborhood.
89  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Suggestion: READMe labeling for mass downloaders on: 2008 March 09, 05:42:45
Yes, 7Zip works on .rar files, too. That's what I got it for in the first place. Besides that, it has plenty of useful features and all. You won't lose anything by giving it a try.
90  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Suggestion: READMe labeling for mass downloaders on: 2008 March 08, 07:43:38
This isn't the perfect solution, but it might help. 7Zip gives you the option to auto-rename when mass-unpacking.  It will rename to readme1.txt, readme2.txt, etc., but at least you don't have to unpack files one at a time and you don't lose the files with duplicate names.

Extreme pout, or punched in the mouth and trying to hide it with shiny lip gloss?  Also, her rhinoplasty went a little too far.

Dial up user apology: Sorry if this has already been entered. I waited forever for all other entries to load and I'm still not sure I've seen them all.
92  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Get Holy Simoly bedding to work with all beds? on: 2008 March 06, 05:05:53
Is there a way to get Holy Simoly bedding from the donation packs to show up for other/all beds?
93  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful Than You! March: Fugly Models on: 2008 March 02, 06:49:35
Will you fecking N00Bs please stop quoting the ginormous pics? Just talk about the fecker, don't quote it fifteen million times. Will someone please think of those on dialup?

Amen!

Edit for P.S. Those "little girls" belong in one of those nice-little-town-full-of-deranged-demon-children horror movies.
94  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Oh fishy fish fish fish on: 2008 March 02, 06:40:11
The installation of Bon Voyage has suddenly and inexplicably gifted me with visible fish...

With the installation of BV I can see the fish in SOME ponds (not all, dependent on size and depth) but also in decorative fishtanks. I'm also getting some water detail such as rain falling into the pool...

I don't know if you'll have it, but check your sims' roof the next time it rains. I was sort of tickled pink when I noticed the rainwater running down the shingles.  It made me all goofy and like "Coooo-ell!"  Grin
95  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So anyone else not so happy about the new lifetime aspiration thing in FT? on: 2008 February 28, 19:38:39
Now to get their stupid points, we have to take them all through this standardized life course - graduate, get married, have kids, max career, boring, boring, boring...

That's so intensely ... stupid. I'm losing enthusiasm for this EP and I don't even have it yet. (Considering some of the errors I'm reading about, I think I'll wait for the patch, if I get it at all.) I can imagine ignoring all these life miles stones, just like I ignore permaplating.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Family sim have some wants other than MAKBABEEZ though.
96  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So anyone else not so happy about the new lifetime aspiration thing in FT? on: 2008 February 27, 21:23:19
Permaplat is so dull, the only time I bother acheiving it is (maybe) when I want a large family with a half a dozen kids in the hood.  I'll permaplat one of the prospective parents or grandparents, thus turning them into a childcare zombie.

Other than that, I can't see any point to permaplat, so I don't think I'll mind it a bit (when I get FT.)
97  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Sims Computer Won't Shut Off +++ on: 2008 February 25, 20:47:07
You might try having a sim turn their stereo on and then off.  That's the first thing I try for stuck sounds and sometimes it works. If not, then I go for audio options.
98  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Furious behaviour on non-furious sims? on: 2008 February 24, 19:21:59
Have they ever been burgled? Even after they have stopped being 'furious' with the burglar (the buglar's face is no longer red in the relationship panel) they will still do the furious thing when thinking about the burglar. Or sometimes about anybody else they've ever been angry with. The lack of thought bubble is probably due to lack of RAMs or similar.

I don't know, but maybe someone else does; will they do this when thinking of a rumored burglary they've heard about.
99  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Are twins ever identical? on: 2008 February 23, 17:50:12
From what I understand it will never happen naturally in play, as the game will always use the next combination on the list for the second twin born, so twins will always be fraternal.

You could create a pair of identical twins with BodyShop and CAS, and a little bit of editing with SimPE if you want their interests to be similar. They'd start as toddlers, though.
100  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Odd Instance of Morning Sickness on: 2008 February 23, 17:41:47
Cool. I just hadn't seen a multi-vomiter in my game before, so I was curious.

The out-of-schedule appearance seemed to be badness. Never seen that before (well, except the nanny. The nanny shows up whenever she feels like it.)  I've had walk-bys at odd hours, including visitors who invited themselves in at two in the morning, but the paper girl was out of whack.  I'm gonna move them out and bulldoze the lot, if it wasn't a sign that the neighborhood is already screwed.
