101  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxis wants pregnant sims to waste away? on: 2006 January 17, 23:39:32
Ahhh, I also am not one to be offended at JMP's responses.  I know that he really, truly, deeply, does not give a shit.  And at least he's honest about it.  LMAO Kiss

Fae:  You're really studying to be a midwife!  Good for you, girl!  We need more midwives sooo bady in this country!!  I had one for the birth of my second child in WV, and loved her and her common sense approach.  While pregnant with the third baby, I read every midwifery book and web site I could find, and, even thought about going into midwifery myself, since there are NONE in my area of NC.  So, not only do you have some of the most beautiful avatars on the site, you also have one of the coolest jobs.  Smiley

I completely agree with everyone's comments about everyone mourning a miscarriage differently.  It's that way no matter who is loss.  When my father passed, my mother and I spent about a week crying and having nightmares.  My sister, on the other hand, spent days alone, not speaking to anyone, angry.  Don't think she shed a tear.  Was she sad that our father had died?  You betcha. But, that was the way she dealth with it.

Batelle:  I don't think you were unemotional, I think you were strong and very logical about the whole thing.  I wish more of us were like that.
102  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sims! I'm seeing Sims everywhere! o_0 on: 2006 January 17, 23:10:02
I don't know so much about picturing people as sims, but I do regularly notice sim-like behavior in my real-life surroundings.

I was at a meeting today with several other women of varrying ages.  There were two men in the room, but they are at every meeting, and not particularly good looking.  A social worker from another agency came into the meeting to discuss one particular case.  I'd never met this social worker before, but he looked to be in his mid-twenties, a good looking young man.  The next thing I know, a few of the "professional" women were about a heart-beat away from sitting in his lap!  I was picturing him coming into the room and all those women reacting with either a romance-sim "swoon" or a cloud of hearts erupting from their thoughts.  LOL  Yes, my name is Kristal, and I am a Sims Addict.  Wink
103  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxis wants pregnant sims to waste away? on: 2006 January 16, 18:48:07

You remind me of a forensic medicine professor, who, upon discussing babies dying in the uterus, went "I don't understand what it is that makes women form such a strong emotional attachment to an unborn baby". You can imagine the buzz in the audience.

Never having been pregnant myself (thankfully) I don't know for sure, but I'd imagine that if you've long waited to have a baby and then have a miscarriage, even an early one can be a shock, even if there is no visible fetus yet. Then not to mention having the fetus die shortly before its due date and having to push out a full-term dead baby. I think I can emphatize with that to some degree even if I haven't been through that myself.

Being a mom, and having unfortunatly had a miscarriage once, I know from where I speak.  As soon as we start to think, "Wonder if I'm pregnant", we start daydreaming about the little baby we're going to give birth to.  As soon as we get the little positive line on the Pregnancy Test, we start reading baby name books and picking out nursery furniture and bedding.  As soon as we have that 1st OB appointment, see an early ultrasound of a blurry little being the size of a pea, or hear that baby's early heartbeat, it's real to us, it's a person, a little being inside of us.  And when something happens to this perfect little creature that we've invisioned (even if it was truly deformed and not viable as a human, to us in our dreams it's the Gerber Baby) it's devastating.  We blame ourselves.  There was something wrong with us, or we did something wrong, that caused the miscarriage.  We mourn the loss of a miscarried child similarly to how we would mourn the loss of a living child.  (I say similarly because I got over the loss of my little peanut, but I don't think I would ever, ever get over the loss of one of my kids.  I keep telling people that if something happened to one of them, they'd better dig two graves and be prepared to burry me beside them!)

Yeah, JMP, it's an emotional thing that you wouldn't understand, kind of a "you have to be there" thing.  And, Bliss, your professor was a pompous ass, and I'm glad he's teaching and not practicing with that lovely bedside manner!   Angry
104  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: 8 playable Sims, 1 Dorm on: 2006 January 16, 18:00:50
That picture was cute and very unlike you, JMP.  I'm amused this afternoon.  Wink

I usually play 8 in, I think, the exact same dorm you're using, Windy.  Is it the two-story dorm in Acadamie Le Torneau?  (Or however it's spelled)  I also use the college rampage and the TJ's college adjuster.  And, yes, it is a fun time.  I notice sims making romantic pairings that become marriages or storylines for the little soap opera that is my playstyle later on.  Sometimes I'll graduate or move out a couple of sims.  When the population drops to four, I will import another group of my in-born sims, so I always have 8 sims going in the same dorm.
105  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: HACK RATING SYSTEM on: 2006 January 16, 17:50:31
Great idea, JMP!!!  Thank you so much!!  Finally a good use for the Alert Scale!! Roll Eyes

BTW:  I heard a speaker on the news this morning talking about the terrorist warnings, and calling the government "terrorists" themselves, because they are using these warnings to keep us all afraid to move forward their own desires (such as stay in power).  I thought it was a deep thought and had some truth to it.  Just thought I'd share.
106  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxis wants pregnant sims to waste away? on: 2006 January 14, 15:24:18
Well, I cheat and I suck and all of the above and I'm proud of it, so there, My Great Fishy Lord of Hackdom!  Neener-neener-neener!   Kiss

For example, last night I moved a college-grad onto a lot with her best friend and her family.  My new grad and her best friend's husband promptly began beating the living crap out of each other beside the mailbox.  Oopsie!  I didn't even know they hated each other.  So, I moved her out.  I have no20Khandouts installed, but still she wound up taking $20,000 of her friend's money along with $4,000 she originally moved in with.  I thought of it as was compensation for whipping her friend's husband's rear end.  LOL  I moved her into a nice townhouse that cost more than $20K, and thought, "Okay, no cheats until she earns them."  I always start a new household that way, unless I really like the sim.  So, she's a popularity sim, she wants to have a party.  Since I installed NL and I never remember to do the Max# of visiting sims cheat, I can only invite 3 sims over.  That's not the decent housewarming party my Sim is wanting!  So, I use Inge's teleporter, and soon have about 9 or so Sims smustling happilly in the living room.  I notice that my sim has developed three lightning bolts for one of the party goers.  I sick her on him with the socailizer, and soon she's wanting to woo hoo and marry him.  I make her wait a couple of days, just so they can have a couple of dates and she can reap the rewards.  He broght her a fishtank, of all things!!  LMAO  Now, they are married, and they have a little one on the way.  I used cheats, used them happilly, and have no regrets.  Smiley
107  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Zombies on: 2006 January 14, 15:08:04
I've made one zombie the entire time I've had UNI.  It was that obnoxious SS member, Lara something.  I had a knowledge sim who wanted to make a zombie resurrect her on the SS lot.  And I had the same reaction y'all did:  "EWWWW!  This is fun for all of three seconds."  and I re-introduced her to Bossie the Cowplant.
108  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Remember that Sims2 preview disc? on: 2006 January 11, 19:15:15
I vaguely remember this and wondered the same thing.  Was this the gossip action that telegraphs memories to sims?  If so, I've seen them discussing people cheating, but I've never seen a sim become angry or attack because of it.

Oh, and I have had the fear of cheating in my game before.  Have seen it a lot, actually.  Smiley
109  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Wondering How This Would Work on: 2006 January 11, 16:36:29
So far so good.  I've moved him back and forth from house to house with no problem.  Had him Woo Hoo both women to test for any negative consequences, there are none.  His wife has no memory of him being gone.  Smiley

I started a story thread at World Sims with some pictures, for anyone who's bored and wants some soap-opera style reading.  http://forums.worldsims.org/showthread.php?p=94232#post94232  If you like story threads there are seveal going on there, all very good and very different.
110  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: HACK REQUEST: No Shock on: 2006 January 10, 16:18:19
I don't know, there are times where I myself get shocked.  I use Crammyboy's realistic mod for guys, and last night one of the professors jumped in the love tub naked.  I hadn't set his options, so he was a dark-skinned elder male with a pale white thingy.  He even stood up and greeted his date like that!  That was their first date, BTW.  She wasn't shocked, but I had to gasp and blink a couple of time.  Then I set his options and made him look better.  LOL  But it was hillarious.

Warning:  Pending Thread Hyjack Attempt

Something I've been wondering that's vaguely related.  I use TJ's Abduction:  Higher Odds mod.  In my main neighborhood I used the deleteallcharacters cheat and JMP's sundy no-regenerate hacks.  I also have the Insiminator, but haven't used it to impregnate anyone.  Because of the Higher Odds, I have a few alien children.  When I had a male and female, I thought about marrying them off, but then thought, "Whoa, check out their family tree and make sure that they weren't fathered by the same PT."  Well, both SimsPE and the enhancer show that all my alien children have only one father, the male that hatched them.   Huh  Sims Enhancer shows the other parent as "unknown".  I went though my character files, thinking that I could repair the link and make the PT the other parent, but the PT is gone.  There are no aliens in my neighborhood files.  Did I nuke them with the deleteallcharacters cheat?  I thought they were service NPCs and would respawn as needed, like maids and nannys.
113  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: ARRRGH!! Sick of Blue Nurseries!!! on: 2006 January 10, 15:51:53
Wow!!  I had tried this before, but I didn't change anything except "Treat as male/female".  The baby never did change it's gender.  I didn't know I had to change the property set values on the character file.  Very interesting.  River Valley will soon have some females!  Cheesy
114  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Wondering How This Would Work on: 2006 January 10, 15:48:46
LMAO, well, if he's raising two families, shouldn't he age faster anyway?  Imagine the stress, the sleepless nights, the energy from running back and forth. . .
115  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Strange furious situation on: 2006 January 10, 15:46:30
Ahhh, forgetting all those sim's lost loves.

I was having a wedding, and invited pretty much half the town.  Suddenly a fight breaks out, and I am at a loss to explain why these people are going at it.  Seems that back in college, Sim A had been in love with sim B.  She then (after college) married sim C.  So, when Sim A and Sim C show up at the wedding together, Sim B started a fight!

(sigh) Ahhh, seems like a normal family get-together, for me.  Wink  (j/k)
116  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Wondering How This Would Work on: 2006 January 10, 15:40:27
I'm trying to give my favorite "good-guy" sim a little bit of excitement.  So, Delilah, a beautiful romance sim, kept rolling over wants to call him, to ask him on dates, etc.  The male sim, Jackson, is a happilly married family sim.  His wife is an okay kind of gal, but she's a pleasure sim and really just wants to party and soak in the hot tub.  So, I let him visit Delilah.  It didn't take long for their friendship to become romantic, and she's rolling the "marry Jackson" want.  (Which is pretty funny, because her fears slots were all about marrying other boyfriends!)  She was pregnant with his child, and having a hard time taking care of her son and paying bills and what-not, so I used Inge's teleporter to move Jackson in.  Jackson's wonderful, a really nice guy, high ranking military career, lots of skill points because I've raised him from a baby, and he's a favorite of mine.  Jackson cleans her house, trims her hedges, encourages her son to be neat and helps him do his homework.  Geesh, I'd bet Jackson would happilly rub Delilah's feet if he was programed with that action.  Wink  The baby was born (another boy, grrrr!) and since it was past my bedtime I exited the game.

Now, What if I use Inge's teleporter, move him back into his original home with his wife and other child?  And, what if I let him go back and forth, raising two families?  Like a Bigamist?  hehehehe  Because he surprised me at how well he just took up in Delilah's place and made himself the "man of the house."

Anyone ever play this way?  I've just always had them do the honorable thing and divorce their wives, or else stay away and let the mother raise the little bastard by herself.
117  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: ARRRGH!! Sick of Blue Nurseries!!! on: 2006 January 09, 17:47:51
Aww, Angelyne, that's very nice of you to offer.  Smiley  I do pretty well making CAS Sims: it just makes me nervous doing it after I've had to start over from scratch twice already.  LOL  But thanks anyway.

ZZ:  That's about the number of sims I have in this neighborhood, also.  I have 292 total residents, which includes downtownies and other Maxis-spawned sims.  I have been keeping the population down because I want to see this one go past the 3rd generation, something I have yet been able to do.  Smiley  But, yeah, one or two CAS families wouldn't hurt.  Just didn't want to go there.  I created two UNI students over the weekend and moved them into the dorm with my present group of students, and so far they are making friends and seem to be fine.  Smiley  Maybe tonight I'll make a new family with some little girls.
118  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Score Extra Date Points with Sims' Favorite Foods on: 2006 January 09, 17:16:16
I thought that was what was going on, but not having read the Prima Guide either, I wasn't sure.

Why pay good money on the guilde?  That's what I have y'all for. Wink

120  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: This can't be good on: 2006 January 09, 16:44:38

PS. My self-sim is already in the game.  He wears black robes and is frequently seen in the company of dancing girls in bikinis.

Well, hello Grimmy.  It's nice to meet you.  And, I guess, not be dying at the moment.  LMAO
121  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Yey!!! My brother is now a newly-converted TS2 freak! on: 2006 January 09, 16:42:15
I share my Simmie stories with my RL friends.  I have one who asks me occasionally what they are up to and the latest storyline.  I was discussing the game a little the other day with a dear co-worker, and she surprised me by saying her 16 year old daughter is not only a Simmer, but make custom clothes!   Shocked Grin  I told her to have the girl e-mail me a link to where her clothes are so I could see them.  My friend says she has a website but didn't know where.
122  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bloody Build mode. It is out to get me on: 2006 January 09, 16:37:31
ROTFLMAO!!!!  Avie, love your posts!  Being an American, and a Southern Hillbilly at that, I had no idea what a "Chav" was.  Now I do.  And I have several in my game.  I built them all trailers and little tract houses, and gave them names like "Charlene Hicks" and "Mavis Yokel" and "Delilah Hustler".  Smiley  Have yet to reach the 5 different fathers yet, but I'm sure that Delilah or one of Charlene's daughter, Leia, will reach that mark easilly.
123  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Categorizing all my downloaded hair... Any advice on how to keep my sanity? on: 2006 January 09, 16:27:36
Thanks y'a.. Smiley  I'm betting they're meshes.  When I was catagorizing, I had an "I don't Know" folder where I put all the things with long names like that, or ambiguious names like, "SummerDreams" that I thought might be clothes but found out it was a wall.  LOL  The Clean Installer was able to tell me what everything was and I right-clicked and moved them to their correct folders, but these, oh, 20 or 30, files had no information except their names.

Blue, I just wanted to tell you that I notice you are always one of the first people here that replies to me and gives me helpful advice, and I really appreciate it.  Thank you.
124  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Categorizing all my downloaded hair... Any advice on how to keep my sanity? on: 2006 January 09, 16:17:57
I have so many other tools that I have never even downloaded DatGen.

I worked for 3 hours catagorizing my downloads folder yesterday.  It was such a mess!!  Tonight, I am going to clean it out and see if I can't get rid of a lot of junk.  Question:  I have several files that Clean Installer cannot identify or preview.  Their names are a long series of numbers and letters.  I do not know if they are old Body Shop files from before TS2 was released, or if they are meshes.  I am afraid to delete them.  How can I find out what they are if Clean Installer can't read them?  Would this DatGen help?  Or SimsPE, which I do have but like everyone else, am afraid of.
125  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Never Met = Best Friends. bug? on: 2006 January 09, 16:08:04
I used Inge's teleporter to bring a drama professor and several of my sims to a dorn for a party.  I wanted to see how they really interacted after reading people's posts about how love-sick they are.  It was hillarious.  Buy the time he had left, he much have hit aspiration failure 4 times!  LMAO
