I suppose if they got inundated with millions of emails from simmers all saying they wouldn't be buying the next EP unless some of the existing problems, such as this one, were fixed first, they just MIGHT be induced to "learn from their mistakes"!

Have to say this - how does that behaviour differ from humans?  Does taking flowers to Mum's grave on a Sunday and saying a couple of prayers actually do anything for a human other than make them feel they're doing their duty?  People don't have kids for the kid's sake, they have them to satisfy some personal need.  And they're genetically programmed to care for them, which is why in some cases when the programming goes wrong, they don't!

Is it mainly related to Memory and therefore fixable by adding RAM?

I think I'd better change neighborhoods fairly soon, as I'm nearing 700 in the present Pleasantview!  Don't want it to be damaged before someone sorts out the way to fix it!
7154  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How about a "don't eat the rotten food, you moron" fix? on: 2005 July 20, 19:12:42
The best thing is I think I can now reinstall the endless buffet hack without all my sims getting fat!
7155  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Better Use of the SimVac? on: 2005 July 20, 19:08:45
Well, I just ban them from the lots now!
7156  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: HUZZAH! Banned from Rentech.com! on: 2005 July 20, 19:07:25
I'll bet the folks who banned you still rely on your hacks, though!
7157  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: HUZZAH! Banned from Rentech.com! on: 2005 July 20, 17:18:27
Thought that was obvious!
7158  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's Blocking Their Path? on: 2005 July 20, 17:17:25
Sounds a bit like the Sims1 bug where someone dropped an unfinished snack and then noone would clean it up!
7159  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: HUZZAH! Banned from Rentech.com! on: 2005 July 20, 17:12:28
What on earth have you done to offend a website that belongs to a Solar Energy company?   Bought a Windmill?
7160  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Better Use of the SimVac? on: 2005 July 20, 17:03:11
You'd think they'd be able to max out their Body Skill Points from the coach!  Obviously, they aren't actually any good at their jobs, which is why sims who give in to their yelling and start working out don't actually get any fitter!

Thanks for the link Posie!

I suppose anything's possible...........
7163  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what is an overpopulated neighborhood anyway? on: 2005 July 20, 08:31:29
I said it was one rule fo the guys at Maxis and another for the rest of us!  Oh well, if I want a Virgo who isn't forever cleaning up and taking showers I'll have to change them in SimPE!
7164  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what is an overpopulated neighborhood anyway? on: 2005 July 20, 04:09:50
I guess you're right again!  But how come in that case the alien babies always seem to have really wierd distributions of personality points?  And if I try to create a Virgo sim with as low a level of neatness points as Dirk Dreamer, they turn into some other sign!  I think it's one rule for the Maxis creators and Maxis generated points, and another for us mere simmers!
7165  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stay away from that expresso machine! on: 2005 July 20, 04:06:14
You're probably right, but I like to think my sims are more than the sum of their programming!  If I didn't think they had more about them then a woodlouse, I'd go back to collecting stamps!
7166  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The case of the disappearing simoleons on: 2005 July 20, 03:52:49
Now that I have to watch for. I never thought of this, but I'm pretty sure someone with talent for this will make a tank; that is, if there really are cars in the expansion. I'll have a lot of time observing because I won't even touch the EP without JM and TJ having a go at it first.

G.

I think I'm with you on this!  I've had enough problems with the game already, and it would be nice to play it once all the worst defects have been put right!  That way I won't end up with my Aspiration Meter in the RED!
7167  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Better Use of the SimVac? on: 2005 July 20, 03:47:17
The worst thing is if your sim goes from gold into green while using it!  They then lose their own skill points and if they're a Knowledge sim they end up having a breakdown and the shrink has to come and sort them out!  It's far worse than them drinking elixir when they've slipped back into green!
7168  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what is an overpopulated neighborhood anyway? on: 2005 July 20, 03:42:23
I understand that, but she had the same personality as well - I know because in another game I had Chloe move into a house with a family and grow up and go to University!  So maybe the old Chloe is just a clone of the original, but it's still pretty wierd!

I just wish when they'd created the original faces they hadn't included quite so many really ugly ones!

Would be nice to have everything in one neat little packing case!
7170  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stay away from that expresso machine! on: 2005 July 20, 03:28:25
I always have free will turned on, and I haven't lost a sim yet!  And between my different installations and pcs I must have a couple of thousand of them!  I actually find that the more you allow them to think for themselves, the better they get at it!  Quite a human trait, when you come to think of it!
7171  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what is an overpopulated neighborhood anyway? on: 2005 July 20, 03:22:54
Wouldn't we all!  It's just a pity you can't delete stuff in SimPE and have to close the programme down before you can go into Windows to do it.  (Plus you have to make copious notes of all the numbers you need to delete!)  And a word of warning, you need to have a hack installed that will prevent any respawning, or the game will just simply refill all the vacancies!

As for "Sophie", that's mostly just due to name repetition. Often the same name will repeat itself multiple times in your neighborhood. I have 5 or 6 Marylena Hamiltons. I'm going to have to start feeding them to the cow plant.

I know, I've got loads of them too, but in this game where I made all the Townies in Pleasantvies babies it hasn't happened - they're still there, of course, but if you bring all their interests, personality points etc. down to zero I think it reduces the size of the file, and when you are changing something in any of your families you can just make them disappear from their list of friends and acquaintances.  The only sim townie I've had in this neighbourhood who's reappeared is Chloe Gonzaga, and I think that's because I made her into a toddler, not a baby, and she's reappeared as a replacement nanny - and it's the same Chloe, you can tell by her face!

I'm up to 693 character files now, so I guess this game won't last much longer before I have to abandon it and either start a new one or move in an old one and carry on with it!
7172  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How about a "don't eat the rotten food, you moron" fix? on: 2005 July 20, 03:08:51
It definitely works, except I've noticed really greedy, lazy ones do still eat it, just as the greedy lazy ones go on eating after they're full, and get fat, so are always having to work out!  (Bit like us humans, really!)
7173  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Greek Houses - Gah! on: 2005 July 20, 03:05:21
Just to let you know, it worked!  I don't know which hack finally did it, but I sent Gary off for his exam, and at that point no-one on the lot could phone for a cab, but when he got back everything was fixed, he had his graduation party and then grew up normally, got his cab to Pleasantview and has got himself a job as a Resident after three days of trying!  Now I have to go and graduate some of the others! Grin

Thank you Schmoopee, I'm going to try this tonight and see if it works.  I'd really hate to lose this sim!   Sad  I've worked hard on him, and he's quite an interesting one, with a lot of odd quirks in his character, and I really don't want him to die before his time!
7175  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Greek Houses - Gah! on: 2005 July 19, 19:56:05
Thanks a lot, I'll give it a try.  However, it's still very odd, I moved Gary and his sister out to a Greek House (he was already a member and she was friends with them, so that was easy) and I moved Keanu back to his Greek House.  The Greek House where Gary and Lisa moved has now go t the bug, but Keanu's house is fine.  My understanding is that it has something to do with the fact that Gary was kidnapped by the Secret Society, and for some reason nothing much happened once he got to the Society House except he cooked a meal, hung out with some of them, went off to lectures and then, since it was nearly time for his Final Exam, I got him to call a limo and go home - but he actually got a cab.  (Since he was my first kidnapping, I really didn't know what to expect, or whether he would do his exam if he stayed there and besides, there wasn't anywhere to sleep and all the members had gone home!)

And if Gary himself is corrupted, then even if I get him back to Pleasantview somehow, I suppose the same thing will happen when I move him to a lot there!

But I'll go and exit my game and try the MoveOutBugFix and let you know if it works.  Thanks for the help.
