SortOfBoring:

If you NEED to use that certain bit of CC, do two houses - make one maxis-only, and the other CC-glorified.  That way you're still keeping within the constraints of the challenge with at least ONE of the houses you submit.

Also, don't forget to list the content used.  It's bad form to use CC and not give credit.

For Giggy:

Its the non-custom-content-non-AL-probably-non-awesome Howls Moving Castle.
Three floors.
Top floor is master bedroom/bathroom + skilling/crafting items.
Middle floor is childs room (shared) + 2 crib-pods.
Bottom floor is kitchen, dining, the one desk and living room.

Yay!  New house!

I used to love the whole victorian look, but I just can't figure out how to MAKE the victorian look.  All my houses end up looking like boxes with windows.

I'll have to graph it and work on it at work.

Can I still post the remake of the 'hidden' lot, or should I save it for next time?
104  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: August on: 2008 August 25, 08:24:26
MaayaBee: I haven't actually played it yet, but I figure if it's anything like a comm lot, the computer forgets about whats happening upstairs if you go down to the basement and vice versa.
The extra income from the ticket machines won't hurt.

Witch: My cockatiels have eggs!  5 at last count.  2 months till baby birds (that aren't at risk of being smushed by me), then I'll attempt to start rearing them. Cheesy

I'm still debating creating a 3rd house for the month.  I have one - a houseboat, but I'm not too fond of it.  Might try to turn it into a pseudo hobby lot or something.
105  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: MATY and PMBD design contest! on: 2008 August 25, 07:46:04
Make it a laminated dry-erase mouse pad and all you need is a whiteboard marker.
106  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: August on: 2008 August 21, 21:23:42
That was my idea too, have the bar open 24/7 and lock off the house.  If needed, I could easily include hobbies, a couple of the Dream Team's trinnion bunks and a shower just by reducing the deck space.
Include a buffet and a few tables somewhere maybe.

                      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2 Bedroom house with single crib, nice flow from hallway to dining room, living room and then kitchen.  Bathroom is shared by both bedrooms.  Stairs are locked from the top, and are only able to be entered through the Bar.
Water and Fire come together to create an enchanting front-of-house, while the lights and music make even the worst slap-dancer a fantastic smustler.  Ample seating around the deck entry, and seats at the bar provide comfort for those drunken regulars.
Pay per the hour and make use of the hot spring & basketball court, or just relax on a hammock.
ITEMS I FORGOT:
I forgot to put a gate in the Bar entry - If you have the DMA sims set, you can remove a section of the counter and place 2 gates - one normal, one DMA.  Entry to the house is through this door only.
I didn't put a fire alarm or phone in the house at all.
There may be other vital things I've forgotten to add.
108  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: August on: 2008 August 15, 06:47:49
Hahaha.
The Sky City hotel has a pool on the roof - don't go swimming unless you want the whole of the tourist population watching - they can see you from the Sky Tower.
Have fun at the conference, don't order room service, have a play at the casino.
I've had enough of the house from hell.
109  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: August on: 2008 August 15, 04:57:10
I'm in Auck, so we got it a little - I mean, it didn't take our roof off or anything, but two of my cockatiels died from the cold/rain/wind.
110  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: August on: 2008 August 15, 04:26:47
No-one had an answer to my question?
Oh well.
I've just gotten back from the "Winterless North" (The Bay Of Islands, North Island, New Zealand).
It rained and I caught a bad cold.
Time for another attempt at this House Of Fail.
111  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: August on: 2008 August 13, 04:02:39
Is getting the pond to show up at ground level as opposed to at basement level part of using the flat lot, or is it to do with floor elevation cheats?
I'm on holiday for a few more days, then I'll attempt to finish my 2nd house for this month.
Loving the entries so far Cheesy
112  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: August on: 2008 August 02, 21:48:02
Thanks Jolrei, I try!
I have a book that I've spent hours and hours writing in - it's a 5mm quad book that I use to design sims houses.  Sounds Geeky, but it's what I do to pass the time.
The Other Half sits on the couch playing GTA, I sit at my computer designing, or in this case redesigning, houses.  It's a good way to pick up new techniques and colour schemes.
Until joining MATY I would never of thought to put babies in seperate rooms, or locking the kitchen/stairs, but having it in play makes a world of difference.
When I see lots from people like Witch and Emma, I know I have a long way to go in the decorating department!
PS: Seeing my name typed out is weird.  I'm not used to people inside Teh Interwebs calling me Stacey.  Cheesy
113  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: August on: 2008 August 02, 11:55:55
My first house of the month!
From the Road to Nowhere to the Road to Somewhere.
3 bedrooms, 2 crib-pods and 3 bathrooms later, I have brought the little house of shame into the 21st century!
The house is 3 stories, plus a basement.  Driveway *might* not work due to lot borkage.
Telescope on the roof to help cater to every strangeville residents inner need to stargaze.  Fencing on all decking to ensure that no-one takes a tumble while looking to the heavens.
The back of the house sports a lovely deck, pool to the side and greenhouse, as well as a fishable pond to catch dinner for the family.
From the top down we have the master bedroom, master bathroom and crib-pods.  Fridge on site for midnight feedings and changetable in easy reach for those nasty messes.
Two childrens bedrooms either hold 4 children (8 if you use the grand trinion bunks) or remove a bed to create 2 roomy single bedrooms.  (Note: These rooms are not big enough for a double bed.)
Bathroom has two toilet stalls, one sink and one bath.  If you have 4 kids, you'll need both toilets.
The main floor.  Kitchen is decorated in natural tones, which change into a bright, fast-food-style dining area.  Gate to kitchen is lockable.  The One Desk is situated in the small, but cosy, study.  No longer will you have guests clambouring up the stairs to use a bathroom, as there is one right beside the entrance.  Stairs are lockable.
Living room contains modern comforts; a large screen tv, a stereo, and two elegant sofas.
Basement is designed for the inner mad scientist.  Ample room to store all your reward objects, relax with a good book, practise your trick shots or belt out a tune.  Drain in the floor for those... messy experiments.
For a full tour, slideshow is linked below.
All EP's, No SP's.  Not a starter house by any means.
Edited to include download Roll Eyes
114  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: July on: 2008 August 01, 08:28:16
There are heaps of windows because I couldn't for the life of me figure out if sunlight would filter through the external ones and into the internal ones.  Since I built AROUND the main house, I was reluctant to remove walls.
115  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: July on: 2008 July 31, 12:38:32
In just in time!
My 3rd house for this month.
The back of my castle. The front is similar, just has a bridge and a door.  Lol.
 Top Floor.  Full of skilling objects and family stuff.
Bedrooms.  The babies are in their own crib-pods.  3 bathrooms, 4 bedrooms.  You can figure out who shares.
Ground floor and entry-way.
Slideshow of internal pics:
All EP's, No SP's.
The moat is fishable.  Stairs lock in each level so guests can go right to the top and use the telescopes or sit around the kitchen area.  They can't get to the bedrooms but CAN get to the skilling objects.
One desk is present, as is guest bathroom.  I think its pretty much awesomespec.  Fridge and shelf in baby room for bottles and storage.
I didn't move ANY of the original walls, just built around it.  Grin
Not quite how I wanted it to turn out, but I was lacking in time and brain-power.  Thank you Emma for the tutorials on the bridges. That really helped.
Enjoy!
Does the green alien skin get passed down recessivly?
I've had aliens mate with normal sims, and then the sim child come out normal toned, then the grandchild come out green!
Danke.
118  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: July on: 2008 July 23, 07:50:24
This is gonna be a dumb question.
How do you make the bridges and the walkways over the water?  I'm going to try to pull another house out of my scrambled braincells, but need to know the masterful art of bridge-making first.
Please?
119  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: July on: 2008 July 19, 04:30:51
I finished!  yay!
Two houses for you all to p&l over.
House 1:
Kept the shape of the house, added decks around, added a lounge where the deck off the side was and added a sauna.
The pool is fenced off - Guests can go through to the diving-board side of the pool, but can't get around to the stairs.  The fountain and foliage seem to make no real difference in the pools functionality.
Kitchen is lockable, and stairs are also.  I playtested it before I furnished it to make sure that it all worked, so the doors/gates in the download ARE locked for family only (kitchen and stair-side gate).
Sauna and outdoor area can be used by anyone.
Top floor. Spawn and Child share a bathroom.  Everyone else has their own.  The two childrens rooms open onto a deck, the master bedroom opens onto a deck and the two 'teen' rooms also share a deck.
Middle area has been decorated for 'art and craft'.
More pictures!
Nana relaxes and watches some TV in the lounge.
Somewhere around $160,000.  Nothing custom, All EP's, no SP's.
I had major issues with this house because the game kept crashing.  Grr.
HOUSE 2!
This house was a lot more... co-operative.
Front of the house.  Fence extends right the way around the front till it hits the pond.  There is a gate at the path and a gate at the driveway.
Trees are the fruit trees from seasons.
Back of the house.  The little shed is the gym - contains a treadmill, an exercise machine and a ballet barre with mirrors and stereo.  I think I might have left the lights out of this one.
Rock pool from BV.
Ground floor.  Kitchen/dining extend around the pool.  Pool IS still usable.  Fence with gates prevents guests using stairs/kitchen.  Study/living room are seperated by a wall, but retain their flow.
Top Floor.  3 double bedrooms, and I think the kids room might fit a bed too.
Double cribs for multi-sprogging.  Shared bathroom with 2 toilet stalls, shower, bath and two sinks.  Internal area of the top floor can be used for skilling objects or craft stuff as per my last house.
House is $157K.  No CC.  All EP's but no SP's.
Not play-tested, so please tell me if there are any bugs.
Cheers.
This has been a very annoying build process as my game insisted on crashing every 30 mins.
Has anyone else had issues with 'jumping' during the build?  It seems to happen whenever I try to move furniture or build a wall.
121  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: Eaxis House of Fail Makeover Challenge on: 2008 June 29, 01:21:57
zaza, i'm not even sure i've played sims properly since getting FT.
I might squeeze a couple of hours in today and have a real good play... no building... just simming.
Then again, only played pets long enough to get seasons, then I only played seasons long enough to get BV and so on...
122  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: Eaxis House of Fail Makeover Challenge on: 2008 June 28, 12:33:57
actually, no.  I think those are parsimonius and vitasims. Vitasims for the disney princess one and parsimonius for the ones on the boys bed - part of the hydrophere set or the other alienish one, if i recall correctly.
Single double bed is from the ATS Modern Line set, and the master bedroom/bathroom is mostly Parsimonius Amilus Curiae.
The only buntah that I used from knowledge is the garden bench and stools.  Not entirely bad looking for buntah-isms.
123  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: Eaxis House of Fail Makeover Challenge on: 2008 June 27, 22:20:38
but can you SPOT the buntah?
THATS the question
124  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful than You! June: Stuff that you Do. Not. Want. on: 2008 June 27, 22:20:00
My cousin came over from australia one year wearing a peice of string as a belt, odd socks and  striped arm warmers.
My sisters comes home from school that same day wearing a tie as a belt, odd socks and striped gloves.
Yep, it runs in the family.
125  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: Eaxis House of Fail Makeover Challenge on: 2008 June 27, 22:15:09
This is the CC one I've been working on.
The outside of the house from the back
Top Floor.   Bunk beds are usable.
Bottom Floor. Bookcase is a secret door.  I'm pretty sure it would be lockable.
Starwell is in a seperate room, so to avoid wanderings.
Street side, walls down.  There is a greenhouse out the back there and a dog kennel too.
I won't put this up for download unless it's wanted, due to the CC.
CC from:
Parsimonius
Brighten11
KariMinger
VitaSims
ATS
Buntah
and The Dream Team from MTS2
There might be some others in there, but I tried to keep it to a minimum of artists.
