this "fix" is only needed if you use custom skintones (non-default) and if you are planning to have a zombie werewolf as they are treated as custom skintone by the game (regarding the lack of werewolf fur).

Well, I put this in my game, and I assumed it would correct alien/vampire/zombie/werewolves if it did alien/werewolves and zombie/werewolves. It didn't...and still wasn't corrected after I changed my Sim into a regular alien/zombie/werewolf. Was it supposed to fix vampire/etc. as well?

I don't really know for vampires as they are not using a "custom" skin like zombies, but an overlay. I haven't a vampire in my game to test it right now. It is possible that the vampire overlay applies on top of the fur, I really don't know.
If I have time today I'll try this with a test sim and let you know.

It's a package file. Just save it into your My Documents\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\Downloads folder.

I tested the vampire in my game, anf at least for me it works. I used a zombie-vampire-werewolf and a vampire-werewolf (no alien involved but it shouldn't matter). The vampires heve the vampire overlay during the day and at 20:00 they change to the werefold fur with no problem. They do need to be up at this time, If they wake up after 20:00 the change won't take place.
One thing I noticed is that vampire lose their fang when turning into a werewolf and they don't get them back in the morning. I don't know why but I think it has something to do with the werewolf teeth.... Someone more awesome than me should look into that.

I didn't not test specifically Elau custom skintone but the way I did my fix it should work with all custom skintones. Did you wait for 20:00 for the change to occur ?

Has to do with the teeth. Both vampire and werewolf teeth are hidden accessories, which conflict. So on "wolfing" the vampire teeth are replaced by the werewolf teeth, and on "dewolfing" these teeth are removed. The games does not check if vampire teeth should then be applied, so the result is no fangs.

Is there a way of unhiding (I don't think it's a word, but you get the idea) the vampire fangs, so that it could be manually re-applyed on the vampire ? I think a vampire without fangs looks silly...

I'm pretty sure I've seen them on MTS2... I'll take a look later. It is trivial to unlock them though, just a matter of lowering the flag by one.

Not so trivial. Tried that, doesn't work. The MTS2-version is simply a Bodyshop clone, which means it adds a bunch of garbage to your game and is not the true vampire teef.

He was already transformed when I checked. Perhaps I should wait until he transforms again? >.>

And the fangs of the vampire are messed up now, too? Sometimes, I want to punch the people who made tihs game in the face, whoever they are nowadays. How goddamn lazy are they?

I don't think the new fangs (lycan) in Pets are an accessory, but rather a mesh overlay.

I have been trying to unravel the mystery to cloning the Pet Collars. I think the methodology will be applicable to other mesh overlay objects, though.

So far, I have found that it is an ordinary scenegraph, but it is pointed to by an XMOL and 3IDR pair which share the same group and instance.

Since this isn't an object, per se, it isn't available with the ordinary catalog methods. But so far, I haven't been able to make it appear in the CaP in the game.

I (perhaps incorrectly) apply the term accessory to glasses and full face masks as they are in many ways the same. The werewolf face appears as a full face mask in the CAS debugging mode, although with a wrong thumbnail (which cannot be fixed with the ctrl-rightclick trick). It has the Pets icon so can easily be spotted.
Vampire teeth don't appear without cloning them, and then show as "glasses" apparently.

Oh and Syberspunk, sorry I did not see your posts until now...
The fix is not a big thing : I extracted the werewolf skintone (body) property sets from the skins.package in C:/Program Files/EA Games/Les Sims2 Animaux & Cie/TSData/Res/Catalog/Skins : there are 6 property sets : elder male, elder female, adult male, adult female, teen male and teen female. For each of these property sets I change the skintone line from 00000003-0000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 to 00000000-0000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 so the skin can be ussed by every skintone and not only S3. I did the same with the texture overlay XML (face paint) : there are only 4 : adult male, adult female (both enabled for elder as well), teen male and teen female.
I only made these changes on one werewolf skintone because I have no idea what would happen if the game has more than one to choose for, for every skintone.
The bald texture (head) is already the same for all skins and is not bound to the skintone, so no change needed.
If you prefer your wolf to have the S1 werewolf skintone, you can do the same with the files for S1.
Hope this is clear, it's late here so typing in english becomes difficult.

Pioupiou.

Thank you so much for your mini-tutorial Cheesy Using that and looking at the property sets, I think I've figured out how to assign one particular skintone (the custom skin in question), so with any luck I'll have green werewolves as well as a hairy custom skinned Sim... about to try it out, I'll let you know how it goes Smiley

As for this:
Oooo, did you edit which skin the werewolf has when changed?  Because there are a few over at Genensims that have the Maxis version beat, hands down.

I know what you mean Wink I have indeed figured out how to replace the skins (I've already made eye replacements); I'd agree with you, but I'd only be willing to use those Genensims skins if someone was able to add wolf-like features to the face, since that's how the default werewolves look more like wolves, if you get me.

Also the picture files are tiny compared to the usual skin sizes, that might be an issue Undecided My replacement eyes look a little blurry for that reason, but they're still an improvement. They're here if you're interested Smiley

I have two custom skin  that I turned into hairy werwolf.

The first time I turned them, they kept their custom skins but since using your hack they are real werewolfs.  One was green and the other was a silver metalic robot skin by BinkLy13

the only thing wrong was when the man got into the bathtub he turned into default light skin and was kinda transparent.   Grin  but when he got out of the tub he was hairy again.

thanks for the fix though, it works well enough until we get a patch for it,  if we ever do.  lol

I hope so, cause I can't get my idea to work Sad ... well it does sort of, the heads change but not the bodies.

Bah. I'll stick to just changing the skintone to default (it's only an athletic light skin); I have plans for alien werewolves and they wouldn't look right using S3 skins Undecided

I just registered just to put up some feedback and questions.  Roll Eyes ...registration.. ANYway, this is about your fabulous hack you did for the custom skin werewolf. Nice job for the first part BUT I have a problem with the normal skin folks on the game.

For example: I put the package in the downloads file as you have kindly said, but it's messing up my default skin as well. They transformed that first time lovely, but when the time came for them to change back - well.. they didn't get their normal skin back. I'm a little worried about this - as I yanked that package out of the folder/file to see if I would be able to go back to what it was - No such luck. Now I'm getting a little flustered at this situation. It was a great thing and a good attempt, but for some reason it's not working for Yours Truly.

I was reading this thread hoping someone might have ran into the same problem as me but I guess not. People are too worried about "Will it work with zombie?!" "Will it work with vampire?!" Heh.. I must have done something terribly wrong with this package if this isn't happening to anyone else.

Edit: Oh yea... whoever designed this forum and with the age-calculator...? They need to take math class over 'cause honey, I'm not 24 if I'm born on 1980.  Lips sealed Just a heads up to the moderator.. is all..

Oh the stuck furriness is a bug in the game. Dowload Pescado's lot debugger and it will fix the hairness problem.  The rule at Maty is we age by 6 years , there is no 5, nor 7 only 6, 12 , 18 etc.  So tough titties to all the teenagers under 18 ..they are all   12!

Here's a semi-related question...does anyone know if there's a way to have male sims keep their hair the way female sims do when transforming to a werewolf. It seems silly to have my werewolf's hair suddenly get SHORTER. Roll Eyes

After begging on several forums, I wound up looking into the hair fix myself and...it's tricky. What I was hoping to do is simply copy over the female werewolf properties over to the male, but it doesn't work that way. It seems that males have an additional property set that overrides their normal hair, which is simply not there for female werewolves. I tried taking out the "override" lines in the property set, but that didn't seem to work. I don't suppose anyone who actually knows how to use SimPE has any ideas? Undecided
