THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Inspired by Emma in this thread.:
Quote from: Emma
Dunno if it is awesomespec or not-and don't care! This was totally fun! I think we ought to do a house makeover challenge thread Cheesy

Challenge: makeover Eaxis-designed lot.  This is not a contest, just a challenge- anyone can enter, judge, or enter AND judge.

Rules:
1. No CC.  Please indicate needed expansions and stuff packs so people who wish to download your lot know what to expect.  Pictures are required, either available for download, on a slideshow, or posted in this thread.

2. By entering this challenge, you agree to take constructive criticism.  If you wish to judge someone else's entry, you should be respectful but honest.

3. Your lot does not have to be Awesomespec, although it is encouraged.

4. You may move internal walls and add external walls but you may NOT move original external walls.

5. Lots may be furnished, unfurnished, or partially furnished.  You can even upload both furnished and unfurnished versions.

*PLEASE NOTE* Since this is an Eaxis-designed lot, it may or may not have level edges.  Place at your own risk.

This is the challenge lot:
190 Sim Lane from Pleasantview
lot size 40x30
lot value $32,773

All entries are due by July 1st.  If this catches on, maybe we could have another house to do next month.  If you have a specific lot in mind, feel free to suggest it; the only requirement is that it be an Eaxis-designed one.

Are walls allowed to be moved? If so then internal or external walls or both?

If I had to make the rules, I would state-Internal walls can be moved, no external walls to be moved (however, you can add extensions to the original walls, such as extra rooms, conservatories, decked areas etc).

Yeah, and all else is fair game.  Grin

I won't be able to get to it for a few days though, so I hope it goes for a week or two.

Thanks for including the lot file, since I've stripped all EAxis lots excepting those two stupid BV hotels I can't delete.

Hmmmm, this is what I see when I click on the link "Thank you for your upload. Remember that only those people are able to access your files knowing the exact link. RapidShare is a file hoster and does not announce your files anywhere."

Do I have to have an account there?

Edit nr 2: removed second link. Use the one in my first post.

Probably best not to post the delete link, someone has already deleted it (no, it was not me). The download link you posted above it seemed to be the right one. I got the same error message as keirra using the link in the first post.

Apparently I can't edit my posts (tried to, but it didnt stick!) so I'll try uploading the house again.

Edit: Never mind that, pressed the wrong button. New file is uploaded at rapidshare.

Witch, try the link in the post that has the pictures in it. That one works for me. Tingeling, you need to delete that second link that you posted. It doesn't work.

D'oh! I made an assumption the second link was the correct one just because it often is. Trying the first link now.

Yep, that worked, ta.

Dumb question, but does it need to be internally furnished? Maxis furnishings are so blah.  Angry

EDIT: Correct punctuation. Questions get question marks!

Not a dumb question at all.  I added this to the rules:
Quote
5. Lots may be furnished, unfurnished, or partially furnished.  You can even upload both furnished and unfurnished versions.

If you want to furnish it with your custom stuff for pictures but put it up for download empty, that's OK too.  Pretty much anything goes, I guess.

Tingeling, I like the clean contemporary design.  It looks like it would fit well in a California-type neighborhood.  I especially like the closed-off hot tub area in the back; I've never thought to build one into its own little house, I always just fence them off.  I may widen the upstairs hallway and close off the staircase, though, to prevent traffic jams.

Emma, I like how your version keeps in line with the original house's style.  I'm also liking the garage with the 2nd-story bedrooms above it.  I might replace some of the bushes/flowerbeds with plastic plants or floor covering because of all the upkeep that is required.  The little mini-garden over the front door is cute, and all the nice-sized bathrooms are a plus.

I'm working on mine.  Got the unfurnished version done, and now I'm starting to furnish it.  The decorating kind of got away from me; it's almost sickeningly cutesy and over 50,000 simol. empty.  Argh.

Smiley I love this challenge and I'm going to do it.. it makes a nice break from working on Simmers Against Securom.

Out of interest why did you pick that house? I always thought that was one of their better houses. (I know the internal layout is a little illogical in places and the furnishings are a bit environment score deprived, but it's workeable) You should consider doing a challenge with the ugly row of white houses that don't have enough room for a doublebed too..  because that would be even more of a challenge.
