1  TS4: The Pee-ening / Insert Amusing Name Here / Re: Sims 4 Annoyance & Problem Thread. on: 2014 September 22, 00:41:53
Learning things the hard way...

I have a teen who had a girlfriend. Both relationships were really high, and they had exchanged promise rings or whatever. Next thing I know, one of his wants (to make out with her) has a llama in it. Apparently, she was culled by the game. Honestly, wtf? I guess if I have townies I want to marry, I better move them into one of the houses. This seriously hoses my plans for that teen.

Got another one that looks like a bug. My babies will stay green, not crying, and I get a nastygram, such as, "X is very hungry! If you don't feed her soon, this baby will be taken away!" It doesn't happen all the time, and I haven't really found anything that triggers it yet.

  • The camera. Oh my how I hate the camera. Either the "new" version or the TS3 version, both suck. Can't get in close enough on my sims and panning forward and backward takes a year, as does rotating. Sideways isn't too bad.
Yes, this. I hate that I can't tilt the camera. I also hate how the camera resets every time I come back from another lot.

Anybody else having issues with Sims standing around? They'll get a plate of something out of the fridge, set it on the counter, and then stand there slack-jawed for half hour before remembering what they were doing and picking up the plate to eat.

Having to tell my teens to put their finished homework back in their inventory makes me crazy. Otherwise, they just leave it on the desk and traipse off to school without it (although I do wonder if it does anything).

I want more random names. I've had about 80 Kaitlins (with various spellings) in my neighborhood. Also, I have a townie kid named Parker Parker.

Getting up to pee in the middle of the night is also getting old. I could solve it by sending them to the bathroom before bed, but I'm not interested in taking up potty duty.

But I have to say, there is a sense of humor in the series still. One of the things that made me laugh out loud was sending my Angry Sim to the toilet and one of the options was Take an Angry Poop.

My geek sim was sad because I didn't throw her a birthday party.  I never throw birthday parties for my sims - the last one I threw was years ago, in TS2, for Johnny Smith the last time I restarted Strangetown.  I only threw that party because it's unavoidable if you want to play the Smith family.

Can we have a stomp on that moodlet, I don't see why a geek sim (who doesn't know anyone outside her household anyway) should be sad because I ~didn't~ invite a ton of strangers around to help her celebrate her birthday.  It seems to me that not having strangers about is a reason to be happy.

I found that my Geek Sim was perfectly happy when I baked him a cake and made him blow out the candles; he was Happy about his "birthday party." So I don't think you have to go through the whole party thing.

I've learned, by both experience and the suggestions of others here, that when a new EP comes out it's just best to delete all of Pescado's hacks, and put in the new DC for the new EP.  Then update from there.  That solves the problem of having very old versions or outdated hacks still laying around.

I don't actually use very many hacks, which was why I thought it easier to update by hand. This'll learn me not to do it when high on cold meds, though.  Tongue I did a wackily haphazard job of it this time. And I noticed that I have hacks that haven't been updated since 2005. Those came out. Kinda surprised that I don't have more things FUBARed.

Thanks for your help, everyone.
7  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Is this a bug, hack conflict or a "feature"? on: 2008 March 05, 20:32:31
HA! When you said tens of hacks, I thought you meant, you know, two dozen.

When I'm free tonight, I'll do a comparison to see what we've got in common and post my results here.

Edited to add:

Here are the hacks we have in common:

antiweatherreaction.package
commlightson.package
ffsdebugger.package
gctowniefix.package
lesswhiny.package
nocorruptdeath.package
noplagiarism.package
novelprogress.package
petsp0-jobfixes.package (hm, I wonder about this one. I can't remember what it fixes, so I'll go look when I'm done here. I guess I do have a career hack/fix in there.)
phonehack.package
phonehack-talkmodule.package
sneldercareeroutfitfix.package
stuckobjremover.package
vampwerefixes.package

It doesn't narrow it down a lot for me, but there are a couple of possibilities. I'm going to do a little experimenting and see what I can find.

ETA again: I have an outdated version of petsp0-jobfixes, so I'll run once with the old version and then again with the new and we'll see what happens.

NAILED! Try updating petsp0-jobfixes. Once I updated that, the correct amounts came up with the promotion.

Show me yours and I'll show you mine.  Wink

Might be a quick way of narrowing down the culprit.

ETA: Of course, you're probably already doing the troubleshooting, whereas my hands are tied except for these limited forays: I'm getting killed at work today.
9  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Is this a bug, hack conflict or a "feature"? on: 2008 March 05, 17:41:00
I haven't used any of the LTA perks in the most recent household where this happened.
10  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Is this a bug, hack conflict or a "feature"? on: 2008 March 05, 17:36:33
And actually, I've just had the same thing happen again, this time with a promotion. This time, I'm not sure what it did to the family funds, since I wasn't paying attention to what it was before. Where the devil is it getting such weird figures?

ETA: No kitten killer for me.
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bork List: Freetime Ed. on: 2008 March 04, 14:45:04
ugh... blogging... pregnant... PHAIL.

That's so broken for no reason at all that it renders me unable to construct a valid sentence. She'd been pregnant about an hour when she started throwing a fit about blogging - because, of course, being pregnant makes you incapable of blogging due to poor mood, nevermind that your motives are nearly maxed out.

Yep, had the same thing. "Can't you see I'm in a bad mood?" in spite of being fully greened up. And then! Later, she blogged autonomously. Stubborn wench.
12  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Received -31159? on: 2008 March 03, 17:35:01
B, I believe. Stomp the Aliens, on the right.

ETA: DAMMIT. I had it happen again. Different household, and this time with a promotion in the Politics career, no chance cards involved.

I have no money hacks whatsoever, so I have no idea where the careers are coming up with the junk data. This isn't an old 'hood. It's post-BV but heavily played: fifth generation, 50 births or so. Had to delete some weird SWAFs a while ago, since I had pets with wants and babies with LTWs, but I don't know if that has anything to do with anything, other than to say I wouldn't be surprised if I'm looking at BFBVFS.

Pescado, if there's anything you want me to do to capture what's happening, I'm game. Of course, it doesn't produce any logs, but I dunno if you have any other magic to work.
13  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Received -31159? on: 2008 March 03, 04:49:09
I had a teen at the top of the teen Gamer career. She lost a chance card and was demoted to N00b. Upon arriving home, she "received" something like -31159, and that amount was actually subtracted from the household.

I have very few hacks (compared to some, anyway) and mostly Awesome hacks at that. No kitten-killer. I suspect that this will be reproducible only accidentally, but I thought I'd ask if anyone else had run into it.

ETA: Erf. Forgot to mention that I do have FT, forgot to download the BV patch, and I have gone through and updated my hacks.
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Birthin' Babies and Genetics on: 2007 January 17, 04:59:57
Be sure to save your lot before running the generator because it will kick you out to the neighborhood screen without saving.

Glad you brought this up. Does it still do this in other people's games, even after Pets? Mine doesn't kick me out, and it appears to work still; I don't seem to be having the firstborn effect.
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: graves/urns displaying tribble-like behaviour on: 2006 November 11, 01:04:37
OOH! I had the duplicate grave problem, too. But I didn't do all that you did. I had the graves at the edge of a lot behind a moat (too many hauntings b/c I deleted beds  Roll Eyes ) and after I installed Pets and before letting loose hacks, I had the duplicate graves. And I started with four graves, so with the dupes, I had eight.  Tongue
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Abandonated & Unconfirmed Mods: Anybody tried these with Pets? on: 2006 October 24, 15:34:21
Crammyboy's cock does, in fact, work.  Wink
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pets Now installed. Running, Barking, and pissing. on: 2006 October 18, 00:58:42

the ability to invite entire families to your sim's house all at once.

Now that's cool. I've wanted that.
18  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: child returns from school w/ teen, and other problems. on: 2006 October 08, 15:10:28
Thanks, but I don't have any of those hacks. That's why I'm puzzled.
19  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / child returns from school w/ teen, and other problems. on: 2006 October 07, 18:18:18
It's been a long while since I've had to post about a problem, but I'm flummoxed and I can't seem to find anything else here that describes the problem. I have a feeling that my neighborhood is heading for an implosion.

Problem 1: On two different lots, I have kids coming home from school with their teen siblings. This drops them a grade every time it happens.

Problem 2: I have a ghost who thinks he died of starvation, but he actually died of old age. One time I entered the lot and found his urn by the fridge, even though he had been dead for a good while already. Then he became very annoying and I had to strand him behind a moat.

They may been completely unrelated, but the problems have occurred on the same lot. Before you suggest it, I did bulldoze and rebuild completely.

Other information: No significant hacks other than stuff to make the game work, and everything I have came from here. I did DL Shaklin's Love Bed recently, but that would be no great loss if I had to get rid of it. I don't have Inteen, so this isn't the same situation as in the Jorenne/Bain thread. Also, I did grab the FFS patch. I have everything except the Holiday Pack and Glamour Life or whatever it is.

This is also an aging 'hood; I started it when OFB came out and the fourth generation is now starting to go to college. I would be sad to lose it, since it's my longest-running hood.

Any thoughts?
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Ok Glamour is installed. Anyone have questions? on: 2006 August 28, 02:06:55
This stuff pack sucks ass.

Say that three times fast.  Grin

Clem..

www.moreawesomethanyou.com/ffs/nl/test/

Maybe you should sober up a bit before you try it  Wink

Silly me. And in such an obvious place  Smiley Yeah, I didn't think of looking in the indices. Mostly 'cause I didn't remember how to do that.

Am sober now, though, and look forward to using it.

ETA: Forgot to say thank you, this is great. And thanks to aussieone for spinning me in the right direction.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Taking a census on: 2006 February 01, 02:22:43
There's a test version of the Census tool in the NL hack test section, if anyone is brave enough to test it.  I tried it last night, and it seems pretty cool.

Uh, where now? I'd be happy to test, but I've had a few too many to find it right now, apparently...
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Blind date problems. on: 2005 December 22, 23:41:44
Thanks, Gali and Emma. Gali, I thought that at first, too, that maybe I wasn't giving the timer a chance to start, but sometimes, after the gypsy introduces Pomona (the YA Pleasure sim) to her date, the date wanders off to play the pinball machine, and nothing else happens. I can click on the date and do normal interactions, but it's still not a date. The option "ask on date" is there, but unless the relationship is high, the answer is always no. It's as though the game just treats the blind date as a visitor.

Emma, I haven't touched the lot since establishing it. But it did come out of the Lots Bin as a default dorm. I'm reluctant to think that I have a buggy lot, since the problem isn't consistent.

Oh. I forgot. I also have the hack where teens and kids don't have a curfew. I found a link for it on in thread somewhere on MATY. Monica's....something. But again, it's puzzling that the problem isn't consistent, at least not that I can tell.

I will turn on the debug mode later this evening and see if I can reproduce the failure and get an error log.
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Blind date problems. on: 2005 December 22, 16:32:44
Just wanted to know if anybody has run into this problem. I have a YA Pleasure sim whose LTW is 50 first dates. So I'm doing what JM suggested in another thread and doing assembly-line dates: ask for blind date, pay §111, get date. Repeat until gypsy leaves. Only sometimes, the date doesn't actually start; I get the person, but I don't get the date meter or the blue plumbob, and therefore no memory of a first date, and I've wasted time and money. It doesn't seem to be time-related, i.e. too early or late, although I haven't studied that too closely or scientifically.

Any ideas why this is happening? The YA is in a dorm, but I don't know that it makes any difference, since she is able to have blind dates maybe two-thirds of the time.

Other info: I do have some hacks, but not a lot, and none from other sites. I don't have the romance mod, and I don't have any mods having to do with dating.

PS--I won't be around much until this evening, so I'm not ignoring my thread: I just won't be here.
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The nicest thing I just found out today (gee I feel stupid) on: 2005 December 22, 16:09:30
I really miss the right clic on a Sim icon in friendship menu when your Sim is on a community lot to locate it, this was such a nice feature added in Sims 1 "Hot date" I wonder how come it is not in Sims 2 yet.
I do too.  In fact, I keep trying to click on it subconsciously in hopes that maybe it will somehow start working!

Me too, me too! Especially on really big community or downtown lots. I hate it that I can see that a friend is on the lot but I have to zoom way out to find him or her. And I do that automatic right-click first, even though I know that it doesn't work.
