1  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod Request Thread on: 2013 January 21, 22:25:41
Howdy folks,

sorry for making yet another noobish post. So, I've started to play the Ambitions careers again recently, and it's all messed up. Especially the Ghost Hunter career, as "Sim ghosts" (those medieval and stone age dudes) don't spawn at all anymore, effectively ruining the entire career since they're ... simply not there. I've also noticed a bug in the Firefighter career where the game wants me to rescue invisible Sims.
Since these bugs seem to be present since Supernatural and EA hasn't bothered to fix them ... I thought I'd ask the nice folks at MATY if there's a fix?

Thanks,
Rocki

I would like to second this request. I encountered the ghost hunter bug yesterday and looked into it. Dozens of similar reports since Supernatural came out and no official fix yet.

Can I use the current version of awesomemod without Pets? I'm behind.
3  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sims 2 and LAA on: 2011 March 07, 17:48:35
I just attempted enabling LAA on sims to with information from this forum http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=112556. All I managed to do was bog down the rest of my system while the game was running. I may just have too much custom content, your personal mileage may very.

How much RAM are you working with? Also, what OS? I also have a large amount of custom content, but it's not slowing me down half as much as my megahood. When I remove my CC folder, my load time holds at about 15 minutes to neighborhood view. I have W7x64, Intel i7 3.2 GHz Quad-Core, 12 gigs of RAM, and a Geforce GTX460. None of which can the game use.

Since Sims 2 runs just fine without LAA, I see no reason you would need to make it so.

Perhaps not everyone is as content with mediocrity as you are.

Hahahahahahaha! Yes! It was obvious... but for me! Thanks!

I hope someone can make LAA for TS2!

It would be in my best interests if you left this thread before it turns into a sporkfest.  Thanks. Also, you should probably forget all this LAA stuff. You seem like the sort to blow your computer up trying to follow a thread you only halfway understand.

After spending a bit of time reading about making TS3 large address aware, I was wondering if it was possible to do something similar with TS2 in order to make it use more of the available memory. Correct me if I'm wrong, but as the game is currently designed, TS2 can't access more than 2 gigs of memory even running on a 64-bit system.

Has anyone tried making it LAA compatible or found any other ways around this?

What is with the sudden spate of woman bashing? It seems everywhere you look there is someone banging on about hormones and whores. I know Mad Men is back on our screens, but come on, it's not meant as a How-To guide.

I swear it is not just here. I am being inundated in RL. I think there is something brewing.

In the past week, I have been told that the Christine Collins case (dramatized in Changeling for those unfamiliar) was fabricated by suffragettes, that the reason boys are falling behind in school is because there are too many female teachers and boys need male role models more than girls need female role models, and that men need to make more than women because it is more expensive to be a man. It is especially concerning that these statements came from professors of California history, child lit, and cultural anthropology at a supposedly liberal university.

They don't pee to make them appear clunky and inefficient. They pee because EAxis is lazy, and I don't believe basic robots and computer systems pissed when were first invented.

I would be pretty concerned if any of the robots at work started peeing. That would indicate a transmission/braking/hydraulic leak. Not standard operating protocol.
8  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Empty and Cleaned-up Templates. [UPDATED] on: 2010 May 25, 17:43:39
Only a barbarian would install the game in Progra~1 anyway.
Tried to install to a customer directory, but the automatic updater that runs at the end of each EP install kept crashing and uninstalling the whole EP. Tech support says it is a known issue in W7, but they do not provide support for TS2 on this operating system.

HOWEVER, voodoo debugging seems to be the cure. Reinstalled game to default directory, installed the same templates to the same location as the previous effort, and it's working now. This is a definitive answer, but, based on my learnings from reading the Microsoft boards, the Virtual Store frequently has such glitches. Clearing the TS2 entries from the Virtual Store and reinstalling the template might work for people still having problems modifying files in ProgramFilesx86.
9  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Empty and Cleaned-up Templates. [UPDATED] on: 2010 May 24, 22:57:20
Raising the dead to ask if anyone has successfully replaced the templates in Windows 7 x64. I never had a problem with XP, but the templates don't seem to be taking similar to Rome_Raven and Cynarra's problem. Currently trying to circumvent the Virtual Drive issue by installing to the C:\, but that is a whole mess on its own.

Generally, we get frowned upon for handing in anything that's not Times New Roman. A few of the profs might let an Ariel or two slip by, but they tend to be the zanier ones, teaching Twentieth Century Dramatic Lesbianism or what not.

My college's literature department is officially pro-Ariel. All coursework must be done in Ariel. However, the history department has a serif fetish. Most of the professors require Times New Roman. A few of them require Courier. Apparently, it's tradition.
11  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Important notice from the GRAMMAR POLICE. Plz read. This means you. on: 2009 July 22, 21:56:54
Minor issue, yes, but everyone seems to just leave MS Word set to all its (obnoxious) default options, then they fail to clean up after its idiosyncrasies when printing out their crapola.

I find myself increasingly more frustrated each semester that my professors waste time explaining to students how to reset their default margins in MS Word to MLA standards.

I have also considering refusing to read any assignment that isn't in 11 pt. Arial font when I become a teacher. Death to serifs.
12  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Important notice from the GRAMMAR POLICE. Plz read. This means you. on: 2009 June 10, 19:20:08
It's true that a lot of schools force it on the brighter kids because they know that community participation is becoming a big issue with upper tier universities. As it should be. It's possible that if we had more high school students working in situations that force them to consider a larger world than their high school microcosm, they might not be entering universities as such entitled brats.
13  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Important notice from the GRAMMAR POLICE. Plz read. This means you. on: 2009 June 10, 18:17:05
The only program they had for "gifted" kids when I was a wee lass was something called PACE, and I was a part of it for only a short amount of time before I was kicked out due to my non-religious family (something about "being involved in the community" was included in the requirements for being a member).  The same thing happened to me with National Junior Honor Society and National Honor Society (couldn't even begin to join those because I wasn't "involved in the community").
I am confused as to why not being religious kept you from being involved in the community? While it is true that many societies are religious in nature, they do not require you to be religious to help.
14  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Motive bars outdated and restrictive? on: 2009 June 08, 18:51:58
Like BastDawn said, the retardness that you are proposing is already possible within game. Just never toggle that menu.

That said, I guess I never realized that there were so many players out there that SUCK SO BAD at playing the sims. The motives are the easy part and hardly tedious compared to the skill grinding.

Am I the only one that feels that any teacher that needs to outsource their grading is DOING IT WRONG?

*edit: I am not talking out of my ass here. I have several years of being a TA and am working on my credential concurrently with my degree.
16  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Just a word of warning - - Walmart Prima Guide on: 2009 June 08, 18:12:05
The Wii Monkey Island game looks like a sequel, not a remake.  In the trailer Guybrush refers to Elaine as his wife.

Read MOAR.

Nintendo announced two new Monkey Island games last week at E3; remake and new series. The trailer you saw is for the five episode game series to be released following the remake.

I'd say more, but that would be shilling.
17  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Just a word of warning - - Walmart Prima Guide on: 2009 June 05, 18:11:38
Ah, Secret of Monkey Island. The manual was beautiful and the install would required you to enter the first word on page 10.

The wii remake just won't be the same.  Undecided
18  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Career Profitability and Perks on: 2009 June 01, 15:39:06

I would assume, then Vaudeville = 5 humor novels?

I wonder which sort of novel leads to masterpiece. Drama, perhaps?

My sim has written 6 humor novels without Vaudeville appearing. It doesn't seem to be based on the good sense of humor trait either.

Politeness: Not selfishly spamming an already totally overloaded board with unfounded self-righteousness* when many users have legitimate business to conduct.

*As opposed to my totally ...founded?... self-righteousness.
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hack Requests? I'd Like a Newspaper Fix... on: 2009 February 24, 03:20:05
I dunno about any fixes you come up with. I mean, it isn't exactly rocket science to upload an attachment into Peasantry. If you can't handle that simple task, why would anyone trust a fix from you? I can only surmise that you are either very silly or want attention.
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Computer Consumer Question: Wireless Router Edition on: 2008 December 31, 19:37:10
Doesn't the Wii have wi-fi built in? Why would you need that?  Huh

Nintendo suggested I do such a thing. Per my whine in the Animal Crossing thread, I cannot get my Wii's built in wi-fi to connect to my wireless network because, as rohina put it, my ISP is a dildo.

So baaah. I hadn't yet found a suitable adapter, but now I can try the Linksys.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What hacks/fixes are absolutely necessary on: 2008 December 10, 15:34:47

It is likely that the first thing your AIDE did upon appointment was to learn how to forge your signature, so that you won't be bothered with unnecessary paperwork (such as those tedious reviews).

I'm efficient that way.
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What hacks/fixes are absolutely necessary on: 2008 December 09, 20:09:16
Uh, no it wasn't. Maxis ceased to exist as a completely separate entity early in  Sims1. EAxis, all the way.

Apparently, the engine was spectacularly buggy. I don't have a clear recollection of all the issues as I'm not known for my memory.

As your AIDEs, I shall assist.

There were massive corruptions resulting from certain NCPs being bit by vampires.
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: HARDER Harder Jobs, Please! on: 2008 April 07, 20:09:11
Unfortunately, while FT seems (don't know if it's only my perception or if it's a real difference) to have decreased the proportion of paintings that achieve masterpiece grade, my experienced painter sims still seem to sell a number of masterpieces and get their wants fulfilled regularly.  Your experience may just be a sadorandom artifact, as suggested by Stitches.

Sadorandom, or the ever popular "hack conflict."
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: HARDER Harder Jobs, Please! on: 2008 April 07, 18:33:14
I've noticed that with FT, it's almost impossible to get the Masterpiece want fulfilled now. I've had several Great Novels, but even Sims with high Arts & Crafts and maxed Creativity are having trouble selling good paintings: they're rarely over $100. Which makes it easier to have a starving artist, anyway, I suppose Tongue

I don't know that you can blame that on FT. My sims are still getting the usual amounts for their paintings.
