1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: What would you call a Sims3Pack editor? on: 2009 May 25, 01:23:47
I do not have the right kind of imagination for naming things. For instance, I think "Sims3Pack Editor" is a fine name. But I do want this very much. In fact I want this NAO! Why don't you name it "Excellent Editor" or "Suddenly Sims 3" and get it to us quickly? Later on tonight would work for me.

2  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: TORTURE EMMA DAY 2009 on: 2009 February 23, 16:21:48
Yes. I am very concerned. It seems that everyone at MATY thinks that having a lot of children with the love of your life is actually a form of torture. I wonder where we get ideas like that??

Now I need a whole new idea!

I am very disappointed that this does not work in my game anymore, either. I am officially poking Ste about this... if someone is closer to him than I am then please add your poking stick to mine.
4  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How often do you 'reboot'? on: 2008 August 20, 21:32:21
Mralways is too much of a 'sharer' for that. He calls me in to watch things on TV, or look at internet things, or see a thing he's seeing fifty times a day.

Easier to just stay in the same room when he's awake.

That is exactly how DH is. But I found this wonderful game for him that is just too complicated for me and he feels all special and interesting because he excels at that game and I have no interest understanding. And whenever he tries to call me over to see this amazing thing that happened in his game I retaliate reciprocate by making him come over and look at the adorable things my sims are doing. Then he toddles back to his very-interesting-and-ever-so-very-complicated-and-way-over-my-head game.

His game?

World of Warcraft.    Cool

Excellent mercenary type question. Other mercenaries eagerly await the answer.
6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How often do you 'reboot'? on: 2008 August 19, 22:58:54
Well, dh used to complain about my attention being on my computer instead of whatever TV show he wanted me to watch with him. So I found him some video games he liked better than TV. Now he plays his video games while I play mine and peace has been restored.

It took a long time to find just the right video game for him, too. So, don't give up. I am sure there must be a video game for everyone.
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How often do you 'reboot'? on: 2008 August 17, 13:10:05
I thought that, too. And I was ready with this whole thing about how DH thinks you have to reboot every day but I only reboot if the system is acting wonky or slow and that can take days and days. Also I had a bit about how when I had Vista I had to reboot several times a day and it was one of the main motivators for my upgrading back to XP.

But this thread isn't about that. So I didn't want to say.
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How often do you 'reboot'? on: 2008 August 15, 01:09:07
I start a new hood far too regularly and I never delete a hood, even if I don't like the way it was turning out.

Consequently, I have a huge number of old neighborhoods packed into my spare hard drive. Some of them are copies of the same hood, backed up by SimPE and in varying stages of growth; some are neighborhoods I backed up prior to installing a new EP; some are variations on Pleasantview & Strangetown. But not one of them has managed to get to the 3rd generation or to have a lasting relationship with vampires, werewolves or bigfoots.

But, my two main hoods are my first Pleasantview and my 2nd "Experimental".

I move the neighborhoods I am not planning to play into a separate folder named, "EA spare neighborhoods" so I don't have to page through to get to the hood I want to play.
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Body snatchers on: 2008 August 11, 21:37:13
Just while we're on the subject of dead sims, what's the currently approved way of moving tombstones?
All of the ways of moving a tombstone WORK, but the absolute SAFEST is to move it by a sim's inventory to an owned community lot. You can't move it this way to an unowned lot because it won't save the results, so the game will respawn the tombstone and lose the death type.

What happens if my sim gives the gift of a tombstone to the owner of the cemetary? When I go to play the owner of the cemetary, will the tombstone be safe?
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Okay, which hack is this? on: 2008 August 11, 20:11:50
The one I use does not have different charges for different grades. It costs $200 per kid per day to go to private school.

I don't remember if they get a memory for getting kicked out of private school or not. It has happened to a few of my sim kids when I wasn't paying close enough attention to finances after a major home improvement spree. I would like to see a sad memory and some P&L from their friends about it. That would be funny.
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: You could meet Pescado in a dark alley with a suitcase full of cash, or... on: 2008 August 11, 17:43:03
Sorry V, but that is a totally US-centric view of how to pay. The cost of getting a US dollar money order in any country is prohibitive ($15+ in the UK) and then you have to add the cost of international postage. Paypal may not be ideal but at least they allow for relatively easy international money transfers and MATY regulars are based all over the world.

Actually, I was thinking that people in different countries could send money orders in their own currency and they can be converted after received by the collector of monies. Then any expense would be absorbed by the receiver of funds who would just take the money order to the local bank to get it converted. Or is that something that cannot be done?

I do agree that it is always better if fundraising is as simple as clicking a few buttons, but it is not going to be easy to find an online payment system that allows for anonymity from either side. For some reason they seem to think that "anonymous" = "doing something illegal"

12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Okay, which hack is this? on: 2008 August 11, 06:52:08
Your kids get kicked out of private school for being paupers.

I believe I remember one of the lines from the RTFM, "...because private school is not free!" but I can't find it now.
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: You could meet Pescado in a dark alley with a suitcase full of cash, or... on: 2008 August 11, 06:43:06
Cafe Press seems like a fun idea, but I don't think it is very sensible for this project. We all want MATY merchandise so much that we aren't thinking of the actual goal.

The goal here is to raise $2500 as quickly and painlessly as possible. Since Paypal does not allow for anonymous accounts it is clearly not the answer. Since Cafe Press requires spending more money than necessary to reach the goal, thereby making the goal less attainable than more so, it does not sound like a good answer either.

I am sure that there must be some way to receive payments via the internet anonymously or even just under a pseudonym, but so far I haven't found it. Unless someone else has already found the definitive anonymous online payment system, I think that the best solution would be to send money orders to a P.O. Box. The tricky part here is deciding what name to put in the Pay To: section. For that matter we could leave that bit blank, but that is a whole new risk that would have to be weighed.

Once the money is gathered and digitalized it should be sendable from any location to Malaysia.

That is my strong opinion. Also I am tired of hearing about Cafe Press when Pescado has already and repeatedly shot the idea down.

So what are the options and results with the genie lamp? Has anyone tested all of them yet?
17  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Factoids and Statistics on Skill Gaining on: 2008 March 23, 21:17:47
I only got The option to teach one nursery rhyme to the toddler. I can't remember the skill point(s)? awarded, but didn't have the option to teach another rhyme. So the charisma rabbit may be around a while yet; I loathe the soundtrack of the damn thing!

So far I haven't had anybody get the option to teach a nursery rhyme to anybody. Are there some skill or hobby requirements for this option to appear?

... leaving for a community lot makes your sim "stupid" which can result in a speed reduction in skill gaining of about 5...

I put a debugger on comm lots to make my sims smart again while they are there.

I am considering using this. But I am wondering what the process would be for uninstalling it, if I should decide that it is not working for me. Is there a process for uninstalling beyond the simple removing the hack from your downloads folder? Or do you have to also scrap all the neighborhoods and return to the backed up versions?

Would the sims be able to get done every vacation thing they need to get done in one day? Or do you mean that the vacation would take as long as it takes, but the "time away" in the actual neighborhood would be about 24 hr?
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Obsessive Diary-Writing on: 2008 March 06, 06:06:55
Don't be fooled. They don't check for aloneness all that hard. They may possibly take a glance around, but in a crowded household this will not really help you decrease the diary writing. Of course in an empty household this is completely useless since they are almost always alone.

Diaries are for 12s!

This from a person who wrote diaries until she was nearly 30! Well, obviously that is what the Sims will do for you!
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Obsessive Diary-Writing on: 2008 March 05, 07:08:40
Giggles are for 12s or for RL -- NOT the Podium. The Podium is for serious business. This is not the place to prove how much better you are than everybody else. Go to Retardo Land, start your own thread about how you are so much better than rohina. I am sure nothing bad will happen. After all, you are all brave enough to talk about your patients' private problems in a forum full of hostiles just to prove that you can handle "Teh Dark". What in the world could rohina possibly do against that kind of .... what's the word I am looking for? I am sure I will think of it soon enough.

At any rate: the BBS or Cuppa Joe are really great for people who like to giggle or emoticon their way through conversations. Also they do much more interesting drugs on Cuppa Joe than anybody does at MATY. OH and they *love* to talk about their sex problems, which seems to be something you would be very comfortable with.

Get back on topic, people! I don't want this thread getting tossed to Retardo Land! I want the "Diaries are for 12s" hack NAO!!!11oneone! Crazed sims running off to write in their diaries was bad enough before, but now it has just gone too far.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Weekly Goals in game? on: 2008 March 04, 23:18:19
I'd like to know more about this too. I have had those messages as well and wonder what use they are supposed to be. Does anybody know what the criteria for having good weeks is or if it is even a useful thing?

And when my sims are on comm-lots I will sometimes get the message, "Oh this week wasn't so great! Maybe next week will be better!" or somesuch. It is very annoying.

24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Obsessive Diary-Writing on: 2008 March 04, 19:07:38
Yay!! Sorry about the tummy ache! But thanks for the jump!

I never let my sims alone long enough for them to do this. In my case, they beeline to the ballet bar and the computer.

That darn ballet bar! Any time I put it in a house the whole family swarms to it. I have finally just stuck it in a comm lot gym so they really can only use it when I say so.
25  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Testers Wanted: New College Scholarships on: 2008 March 03, 21:55:33
...and they should have to pay back all the "free" money they got while in uni. It should be automatically deducted from their paychecks until it has all been paid back.
