1  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Empty and Cleaned-up Templates. [UPDATED] on: 2008 March 01, 14:08:12
Why on Earth would you sell disks of the game you're planning to play in the future Roll Eyes? Just a question.. Roll Eyes
I'm also looking for a way to clean my templates of the FT characters... Deleting their files before loading the game works in a way but I'm worrying about the things I left my hood cluttered with by doing that as I didn't clean the neighbourhood file..

And is it just me or sims suddenly started looking through the window much more often Roll Eyes?

My Pleasure/Knowledge sim keeps crying and worrying about not having a family. She's getting the thought bubble with the family sim aspiration image in it, though she's getting Pleasure and Knowledge wants.

My Knowledge/Popularity sim started getting thought bubbles with romance icon and crying about rejected make outs Roll Eyes

Are kids and toddlers now supposed to have LTWs as well or is it just my game Roll Eyes?

Thanks for this, I already hate that guy Roll Eyes Like anyone would give you free computer in RL Roll Eyes
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lots crash on loading on: 2007 October 19, 12:19:35
I keep a notepad document with all my codes on it. Means I can copy-and-paste Smiley

Still pain in the ass. I just reinstalled for the third time in three days (once because I've got a new comp, once due to corrupt installation as my comp just froze for some reason, and now because buggy RAM broke my Windows and I had to reinstall everything again) Roll Eyes I might just give up if it happens again in near future.
9  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Crib for the Economically Disadvantaged on: 2007 October 15, 10:17:34
I don't know - if I had the choice between a laundry basket + caring parents and a "proper" crib + parents who don't fucking care, I'd take the former anytime Wink. Actually, I WAS lucky enough to be a cared-for laundry basket kid.

Why can't carring parents be combined with proper crib Roll Eyes?
And I have nothing against laundry baskets or other household stuff as long as the parents are carring, I was just joking. Althought I must say I was quite surprised to find out that so many of you started in laundry baskets as almost everyone I know had a crib.. Besides my own daughter who just refused to sleep in her crib (and chose her buggy instead) so we sold it.
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV patch is out on: 2007 October 15, 09:25:01
Thank God my gaming PC broke before I could install this patch. I think I'm gonna stick with hacks just now.
11  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Crib for the Economically Disadvantaged on: 2007 October 15, 09:02:41
Hey, I was born in Papua New Guinea (my parents were working over there when it was still under Australian governing) and I'm very greatful to that meat safe. Without it I would have ended up with Malaria or some such. We still have the meat safe down in the shed. Oh, and I was born in the early 70's.

Oh, Ok, I'm sorry  Grin
12  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Crib for the Economically Disadvantaged on: 2007 October 13, 22:00:05
A drawer? Meat safe? Laundry basket? Gee, what times do you live in Roll Eyes? Even I had a proper crib (born in early 80s, in Soviet Union). Roll Eyes Nice crib tho Smiley

Ok, I get it now... Undecided
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Altering DNA: Skintone Range on: 2007 October 05, 09:52:59
I've been altering DNA's of my CAS families and I'm fine with the eyes and hair but I don't get the skintone part. For example, I have this boy, who's dad has Maxis S2 and who's mom has custom skin that is set to be in between of Maxis S1 and Maxis S2. His dad also has a sister who has Maxis S3, so I made dad have Maxis S3 as recessive. Now I'm altering DNA of this boy and I set his (and his moms skin) to be dominant and his dads skin to be recessive, but I was wondering if I could put S3 somewhere in his DNA too? Is that what Skintone Range field is for? Please, explain. Roll Eyes

That's why I never allow my sims have bubble baths Grin Deleting sim with moveobjects on should work. If not, try Inge's method (I mean cope) Wink
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I DARE YOU - SUPER HACK CHALLENGE on: 2007 September 21, 08:04:54
Thanks all.  I was looking at the links above and sorry-not enough time to read all posts.  Is there a tutorial on how to change the degree of resessiveness that you want on skin and eyes.  Example, I want aliens on the low end of the spectrum instead of the high and certain eyes to be very resessive.  Also, if I could get a quick little note on making skins the default skins (and since hair is genetic too, on how to bin colors with the correct color.  Just send me to the tutorial links. DIAL UP SUCKS?

Thank you

For the eyes and hair, I found a file in one of Sleepycat's messages (on this forum) where you can change resessiveness of the default hair and eyes. Just search for it. Works amazingly Wink For custom eyes you have to edit "genetic" value in SimPE. 1 is dominant, 2 is recessive, 3 and 4 for are hightly recessive.. Sorry, I might be wrong with terms but everything else is right so I hope you'll understand me.
For hair binning I'd recomend you Theo's hair binning plugin for SimPE. Works just great and saves you loads of time.
And for making defaults I can only point you to MTS2 tutorial section as I used it (method with already made templates, but it makes your skin files huge, so you might want use another method..).

Didn't work for me either. At least not the way I wanted.

2. When it's time for work, if I cancel the icon (to lets say, get in a shower before I click on the icon and go to work) the carpool car drives off.
3. I can no longer 'Accept Delivery' with Grocery, Chinese Food and Pizza people, I have to wait till they give up and set the stuff on the ground
4. The windows are glitched. On the inside, they're dark as if they're outside. Also, the snow is on the inside of the windows, not outside.

It's YOUR GAMES that is glitched, not THE GAME itself. I've never had such problems with mine.

LizzyJ --> My windows are dissapering as well. I've noticed the patern in that but I don't remember what it was.

I don't mind cold and snowy winters myself because winter's my favorite season Cheesy Snow on wintertime is probably the only thing I miss here (I'm in Scotland at the mo, if I didn't make it clear by now Grin) Sad That's why I love Sims 2 Seasons so much Cheesy
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Translating whole game? on: 2007 September 14, 10:10:50
Well most of lithuanians come to UK to work. Some of them come here to learn... Anyway. I think the weather here is OK.. Summers aren't too warm but they don't get winters with -30 degrees Celsius here.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Translating whole game? on: 2007 September 14, 09:16:30
There are hundreds of languages they don't even attempt to support. Really, what they *should* do is just use a nice standard http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gettext type library and let people contribute translations.
That's a great idea! Sadly EA will never agree with it Roll Eyes I should try emailing them about my plans though.

Huh, I could've sworn there were at least a couple of letters that looked non-Roman on some of the cards and postage I've seen, but maybe I was mistaking stylized fonts, since they were in a foreign language.  (Okay, I wikipedia-ed it...there are twelve written vowels, which is seven more than the original roman alphabet, and this, plus the markings over some of the consonants, just made me think "other alphabet" instead of extra characters.  Whoops.)
It's OK, you didn't know Wink

I know Estonian's a real pain in the butt (it's got about sixteen cases for the nouns, if I remember right), so I'm wondering if all the Baltic states just got kind shafted because of difficulty issues.  Aren't the languages more related to each other than any other languages in Europe?  There may be lots of people who could do translations from English there, but if EA Europe is in London...it'll be harder to find translators.  As for Romanian, it's a Romance language, and it's related to French, Spanish, and Italian, so even if the population is smaller, it's related to more popular languages, and easier to learn.  (...hmm...wiki tells me also that it's spoken by 24-28 million people, as opposed to Lithuanian's 4 million, so that's significantly more.)
I've never heard real estonian speaking so I don't know anything about Estonian language but Lithuanian and Latvian have some similarities.
And talking about London, London is full of Lithuanians Grin! Althought probably the most of them hardly even speak English. Or even write their own language without mistakes... Roll Eyes Anyway, I suppose there should be some well educated people as well (not everyone goes to Uk to work in fish factories, you know).

I suppose it is more, obviously, but they are both what might be considered at small in marketing terms - also the Baltic states generally have a wealthier and more educated population, I would think, than is true of the majority of the Balkans, which have mostly seen a great deal of problems in recent years.  And people who can't afford computers can't play computer games....
True.
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Translating whole game? on: 2007 September 13, 14:07:02
Returning to the original poster's question, I mentioned the Latvian text files because I was pretty sure I recognised them - that wasn't to say that there wasn't also a Lithuanian file help file - there are several in there that I don't recognise.  Since there are a lot of object creators etc. working in Eastern Europe, Russia etc., there may well be another, East European Version of the game with yet more language options.
Trust me, if there was Lithuanian version of TS or TS2 I would know (did I mention that I am the most active Lithuanian simmer ever?) Grin

If nothing else, I would expect it'd be easier to mod a version of the game already using a cyrillic alphabet, like the Russian version.  Instead of trying to alter the English version.  The font should be already set to handle whatever characters were necessary, and since the languages are related, there probably wouldn't be problems with word size.
Even though Lithuania was part of Soviet Union Lithuanian language is not at all related to Russian. They are incomparable, completely different. Especially the alphabet (Lithuanian one is based on Latin). I'm not sure about the word lenght yet, you might be right about that. However I find translating from English easier than translating from Russian as English is what I use everyday and to be honest I'm not too good at reading Russian (cyrillic alphabet issue)...

I am part Lithuanian.  My dad exchanges Christmas cards with his cousin who is in Vilnius.  I know absolutely no Lithuanian, though, and I've studied three foreign languages, so you're right that it's not that popular.
Well, it's not very easy to learn either.
P.S.: I was born in Vilnius as well.
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Translating whole game? on: 2007 September 11, 23:03:31
Sadly it doesn't (well, Lithuanian isn't such a popular language after all). And I know a whole bunch of people who would be very happy to get that. I mean young kids and elderly people who can't read English or Russian. Even my hubby's little brother.. He's now 6y/o and he can speak and read English but as his mother-tongue is Lithuanian we'd still like him to be able to read it and that's where the game could come in handy.
Plus, I've got too much time on my hands anyway...
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV and no CD? on: 2007 September 11, 18:02:30
It is Spyware, and you should avoid it.
Really? Damn, my hubby will kill me for it Sad

The Pop-Up you are describing is the new Maxis "Launcher".  To disable it, edit your BV shortcut (right click on it, then properties, and then alter the Target) so it points to "Sims2EP6.exe" instead of Sims2Launcher.exe".   You will not need to change anything else in the path, since both files are in the same directory.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Grin
