Nobody said anything about infringment. EA does not hold the trademark for the human race simulation genre.  Besides legal minds disagree everyday on any given issue, that's why they get the big bucks, and that's why companies pay big retainer fees, to convince a judge that their interpation of the lw is the correct on.

Is it just me, or as soon as I went to the launcher (having previously run it via the direct .exe) and running RLD version - after it demanded  my installation of the EA download manager, I got a pop-up: "The follow program: EADM is attempting to access secure files on your hard drive - click here to cancel or stop"...

Would it be a bad idea for me, full of complete noob-ishness, to even think of downloading the torrent?

Holy crap. It just went up to 500 kb/s.

Getting 2 kB/s for download AND upload, and it's saying a firewall/router is limiting network traffic. How do I fix this without turning off my firewall?

Edit: it's ramped up to 16k download/0.5k upload. Umm...

Well, it works, but the performance is much, much, MUCH better in full screen mode. For me, it's practically unplayable in WM. It even says so in the readme file.
