276  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: If you REALLY want to use Launcher to install Sims3Pack with 1.8/2.3 on: 2010 January 23, 00:07:22
That's correct.  Use TS3EP01.exe from the WA folder to play the game, only use the working_launcher folder when you need to run the Launcher to install/remove stuff.

Cool.  Thanks for verifying that.  Smiley  I suppose we'll have to do the same thing when we install the High-End Loft stuff pack?
277  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Hell, damn, shit, piss, & all those other words! No sound! on: 2010 January 21, 17:51:32
I'll try that.  Thankees!  Grin

Edit:  Looks like I already have the latest version of the framework, but I'll try reinstalling it.

So then I proceeded with the TS3EP01.exe from the "working launcher" folder to play the game. It goes past the startup screen to the screen where I can now select the game I want to play then it starts to the load the game but then it crashes half way through. I really want to play the game and I don't feel like reinstalling because I believe this is an issue I should be able to fix. Please help!!!!

I had the same problem, so now I use the TS3EP01.exe from the World Adventures folder.  The instructions only state we should use the Launcher from the "working launcher" folder.  But I could be wrong; you might want to wait for someone with more experience than I for an answer. Grin

It's just annoying, because I had to restart my game a couple times last night.

I patched to 1.8/2.3, carefully using GnatGoSplat's instructions for retaining use of the Launcher.  I also used Delphy's framework installer to keep arrr'ed store content.  Now after playing my game for awhile, I suddenly have no sound; a restart fixes it.  Is anyone else having the same problem?

Thank you!  Now how do I send you my first born?  Grin
282  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Prima Guides on: 2010 January 16, 03:12:28
I keep reading here that Prima Guides are crap, but the guides for TS3 and WA are being shared.  Is anyone willing to share the guides for TS2 and its expansions?  I might find at least some useful information.  Grin
283  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Secret Societies and Career Rewards on: 2010 January 15, 02:15:33
Nope. Damage and destruction inflicted upon the Secret Society lot is there forever. Mine is still full of Eau de Brynne from the time the Brynnes made it in, all the way at the beginning of the story.
lol

Thanks!
284  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Secret Societies and Career Rewards on: 2010 January 14, 23:43:45
One of my Sims just got inducted into the Secret Society at Le Tour.  Would putting any of the career rewards in his inventory be a VBT?  Would the game regenerate them at the Secret Society lot the next time my Sim visits?
285  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Where are important files saved? on: 2009 June 06, 17:48:09
BlueSoup said in another thread that we don't need to keep the stuff in the Downloads folder.  But I wondered: if we ever reinstall our game, will we need those to reinstall store items with the Launcher?  Or will we just be able to use a backup of the Sims 3 folder?

After a Vista update killed my computer the other day, I had to reinstall all of my software.  In preparation, I backed up the Electronic Arts folder and moved it back after reinstalling the game, and everything was already there.

Oh, good.  Thanks! Grin

I didn't save my previous user folder, so I don't know what's going on.  I'm almost starting to think I imagined the whole thing. Cheesy
288  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Halp! I'm an idiot. on: 2009 June 04, 04:32:50
Reinstalling bites. Grin  And here's the worst part:  After reinstalling, CAS is still missing that same EAxis recolor!  Aarrrgh!!!
289  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Halp! I'm an idiot. on: 2009 June 04, 01:00:23
That does indeed and it sounds fucking retarded. Well, at least we now know how to get rid of the EA made presets. I'll poke around with that "feature" and see if I can figure out what the default files name is, and where it needs to be put in order to get the Ea made ones back.

I already reinstalled the game.  But that would be great, in case I make other fuck-ups. Grin
290  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Halp! I'm an idiot. on: 2009 June 04, 00:35:15
It's kind of difficult to explain.  I clicked on an EAxis made recolor and stupidly clicked "Save as Custom Content."   The EAxis recolor then had a custom content icon on it; there was no duplicate made.  Does that make more sense?
291  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Halp! I'm an idiot. on: 2009 June 03, 22:38:07
I'll try it.

Also, really? New thread for this?
Tongue  How do I move it into an existing thread?  And which one?

EDIT:  Didn't work.  It deleted the EAxis recolor completely from the game.
292  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Halp! I'm an idiot. on: 2009 June 03, 05:16:27
Didn't know exactly where to put the question.

You should be able to click on the preset/icon for whatever in CAS and delete it using a trashcan icon somewhere in the UI.
But it's an EAxis recolor, not one I made.
293  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Halp! I'm an idiot. on: 2009 June 03, 05:03:34
In CAS, I stupidly saved an EAxis recolor (formal sportscoat) as custom content.  I tried removing the userPresets.package from the Documents folder; it deleted the EAxis recolor.  Anyone have an idea how to fix this, besides reinstalling the game?
294  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: The Launcher And You: Why You Should Hate It on: 2009 June 02, 22:26:07
I started the game through the TS3.exe instead of the Launcher, but does that really make a difference?  And if I install items from the TS3 Store thread, will the game phone home to EA at any point?
295  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: No censor hack for TS3 on: 2009 June 02, 21:52:19
I grabbed the hack here, by CyberOps.  Is there any reason it wouldn't work well with the "official" Roll Eyes hard copy of TS3?
It works with my "official" (minus smiley) hard copy of TS3.

Thanks!  Will try.

297  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Is SecuRom on the Sims3 hard copy? on: 2009 June 02, 17:31:47
SecuROM was not visibly reported on the disk, but neither was anything STANDARD, so whatever they're using is very much nonstandard and nefarious.

Is that your subtle way of stating we should wait a day or two for a no-CD crack?  Cheesy
298  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 May 28, 00:39:30
Finally got through the whole thread; I'm exhausted. Grin  Anyhoo.  Probably missed it somewhere; but when/if Sims 3 Store stuff is shared here, will it actually be importable into the game?
299  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Am losing my fucking mind! Please halp!!! on: 2009 April 30, 04:08:48
Flicker with new ATI cards is not unheard of.

I have a HD 3850 and don't have the problem.  There's many cases where new drivers break things that were fine in earlier versions -- ask anyone with an nVidea card about that. Smiley  It's possible ATI broke something again.  You can download older driver versions from the ATI website, so download the 8.10 drivers, uninstall the 8.12, install the 8.10 and see if that fixes it.  If so, great!  If not, there's another issue going on.

Try rolling back the drivers.  In the thread this post is from, apparently jsalemi's advice was good.

I'm going to try to roll back the drivers.  My graphics didn't flicker before I updated them.  Then I'll keep trying to find my bad custom content.
300  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Am losing my fucking mind! Please halp!!! on: 2009 April 30, 00:59:19
I don't think you want your card running at 125. As for operating temperatures, mine is operating at -58 C, which is much better.

One tool read the temp at 0 degrees Celsius, the other at 42 degrees Celsius.  I don't know which one is right.  Do *you* know a reliable GPU sensor that works with Vista?  (And yes, I know you think Vista sucks.  Grin)
