26  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BitTorrent clients on: 2006 November 08, 18:25:16

I did have this in mind as it's so compact.

Azureus seems to be very popular, but I just wondered how easy it is to use for a noob like me?
27  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / BitTorrent clients on: 2006 November 08, 17:50:09
Before I choose a BitTorrent client, I wondered if any of you could recommend something that's relatively easy or intuitive to use for beginners?

Many thanks

Siggy

In reality isn't a lot of love unrequited?  I'm hopelessly in love with Harrison Ford but the bastard never even looks at me Sad

Don't worry about it, he's officially unawesome.

That's what I thought too Inge Wink  You know, that's my main reason for coming here, I learn so much and I find it really helpful to know other's opinions on things that are sometimes beyond me - I'm not afraid to admit that.  LynnMar didn't deserve that at all.

I thought I was the only person still using IE, I'm slowly coming around to the idea of Firefox though.
31  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Rotting smartmilk? on: 2006 November 05, 12:26:20
It's not happened to me Karen, although I've had very few babies or toddlers in my game.  I've not heard of this before.

I should have been more specific Pes, I did re-enter them and nada, nothing worked.

Edit: 24 hours later, tested all neighbourhoods and no luck with any cheats.  Did a re-install this morning and all's well again.  Don't know what I managed to do yesterday, no error logs appeared or anything but it's a moot point now as problem is solved.
33  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: I'm such a moron on: 2006 November 04, 16:43:00
I'm not sure about that AmberDiceless, I remember it happening with the basegame ages ago, I had it in de-bug mode and the other half switched the game off.  After that, nothing worked in the cheat command box, I had to re-install.

I was hoping to avoid re-installing again as I've invested so much time in building my own homes in a custom neighborhood, I know I could remove the neighborhood folder and replace it afterwards, but I was hoping someone may be able to come up with a quick fix.

I just re-tested the game to be sure, but move_obects etc are still not working?

I googled this problem but came up with nothing useful?
34  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / I'm such a moron on: 2006 November 04, 14:33:24
I was playing very late last night and had move_objects on along with boolprop snapObjectsToGrid false. I went downstairs to get a drink and got distracted by my other half, leaving the game running.  By the time I eventually got back to my game, I was tired so saved it and turned it off stupidly forgetting to set move_objects to off and the same with snapObjectsToGrid.

I woke up this morning switched the game on and quel surpris, neither cheat works anymore.

Any suggestions? I already know I'm a complete numpty, believe me, I've slapped myself silly already.

Thanks for the link Wink
36  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I really should defrag.. or should I? on: 2006 October 26, 09:24:20
Strangel, I've found this site http://www.geekgirls.com/windows_defrag.htm to be really good for info on de-fragging and such.  It's pretty good at explaining why you need to de-frag and tells you how to go about it in plain english.

I've provided a link directly to the de-frag page but the rest of the site is worth checking out too.

I've got two LotP in my custom neighbourhood.  They have shown up (singly) at all my lots so far.  I read somewhere (here possibly) that if your gardens are landscaped there's a higher possibility LotP will make an appearance.
38  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Annoyed with EA on: 2006 October 24, 14:48:36
What a veritable font of information you are jordi!

I'm not a hardened gamer at all, in fact I only play the Sims so that gives you an idea as to my level of expertise when it comes to hardware lol.  Software too if I'm honest.  I astonished my other half the other night by announcing that I was off to defrag my computer, his jaw hit the floor!
39  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Annoyed with EA on: 2006 October 24, 13:58:43
Yes, that makes sense but I've been reading here and elsewhere that others bought the DVD version and it worked for them.  I just assumed they meant it worked in their CD drive?  Never assume as the saying goes.

Silly me Grin
40  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Annoyed with EA on: 2006 October 24, 13:44:06
Ahhh.. so he was right then?
41  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Annoyed with EA on: 2006 October 24, 13:25:07
Yeah, i live in the UK and could only get a DVD version. Luckily, it still worked, and i got it for £20

Yeah, I paid £19.99 but an extra £25 for the DVD/Re-writer.  Damn my lack of computer savvy, my other half said my cd drive won't read a DVD - I didn't think to just try it anyway Angry
42  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Annoyed with EA on: 2006 October 24, 11:03:30
I can see why that would annoy you.

I'm pissed at EA for another reason alltogether.  Pets was only released on DVD in the UK.  After telephoning various retailers and asking for a CD version, I eventually drove over to a store that put the Pets CD aside for me only to find that it was in fact, a DVD.  I then had to drive to another town to buy a DVD/Re-writer, over 30 miles in all.

I was told that it was only released on DVD as the CD's can't hold that much info, but have noticed that other countries seem to have CD versions?

Pets has so far cost me £45 not including petrol.  Grrrrr.....
43  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pet collars on: 2006 October 23, 10:01:00
Thank ye gads I wasn't the only one who couldn't work out the pet collars.  I ended up buying  about six of the things  and stupidly kept trying the wardrobe option, convincing myself it must be a bug Cheesy

44  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pets EP questions... on: 2006 October 19, 18:16:32
It means you can rotate individual floor tiles.
So you can for example make the "men" bathroom tile point to the door now.

That makes sense, the other was just wishful thinking.

I'm going to follow idtaminger's and shivani's advice and put the diagonal cheat in my userstartup - I wanted to know how to do that too, thanks Wink
45  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pets EP questions... on: 2006 October 19, 13:09:22
Ooh! for a moment I didn't understand what you meant by "rotating floors" and I thought we could have one of those fancy revolving restaurants like they have at the top of Telecoms Tower.

Lol Inge!

I'm still not sure of the true meaning though, does this mean you can off-set floor tiles or does it do away with the diagonal cheat?  Enlighten me please, someone!
46  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: More Pets errors on: 2006 October 19, 12:59:20
I don't know why people are taken by surprise when old hacks upset a new EP.  I don't know why people are even installing a new EP with old or non-newEP-ready hacks in.

Like yourself & lindaetterlee, I completely remove all CC and any hacks before attempting to install anything, I was burned once but never again.  It's a pain, but at least I can cull my downloads that way and only re-install stuff I actually use.
47  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Inside / Outside... did they know the difference ? on: 2006 October 19, 09:19:33
That set #1 hair is just plain terrifying. Werewolf hairy, or maybe giant squirrel.

Tee hee, that's what I thought and if I remember rightly, they also have hairy backs - get the wax kit out NOW Grin
48  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pets New Lifetime Wants on: 2006 October 18, 13:50:22
I don't even know what. I can imagine that one would be horrific, seeing as it might be a bit hard to phone a pet.

Lol JM, you have a point there.  Perhaps you train them to speak and use the phone?
49  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pets New Lifetime Wants on: 2006 October 18, 09:08:55
The popularity aspiration doesn't appeal to me, 20 simultaneous pet best friends?  Can you imagine what the friendship panel is going to be like?
50  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pets Now installed. Running, Barking, and pissing. on: 2006 October 18, 08:25:07

the ability to invite entire families to your sim's house all at once.

Now that's cool. I've wanted that.

Oh me too, me too.  It makes sense to be able to invite a whole family over, particularly when you need to build up your friends for promotion.  I'll get Pets just for that alone Wink
