Whatever. It's a legitimate complaint. The downtown looks like shit, they didn't think about the placement of the actual lots at all, and because they loaded it with sidewalks there's barely anything you can do about it unless you absolutely love going around building stupid sized lots from scratch with no room for non-hideous rabbit hole lots.

The thing is, the old town LOOKS salvageable, but it isnt.
They put sidewalks. Everywhere. Around every fucking lot. So you can't customize the area at all, you're stuck with the lot sizes (the extremely, extremely unconventional lot sizes) they used to begin with.
The downtown is laid out as if they didn't spend even half a minute thinking about it and there's pretty much nothing you can do about it.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Changing Water Murkiness

I've been trying to alter the murkiness of water so that it only starts to get dark at a much deeper...depth. http://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=388840&goto=newpostBy editing the ini files, just like with changing the color. But like before, it still doesn't seem to do *anything*. Does anyone have any idea why? Has anyone else tried this? Sometimes before a lot fully loads you can see the land under the water, and it looks much nicer than not being able to see into the water at all. I'd prefer to adjust the "murkiness" with textures.

Women are apparently stupid as all hell, too, judging by your complete failure to get the point.
Let me break it down:
Poster 1: Why do people want teen WHORE mods?!!?! Poster 2: Sex doesnt make someone a whore Poster 1: ALL I'M SAYING is WAY TOO MANY TEENS get PRAGNENT and they should STOP DOING THAT (but sex is okay) Me: Because pregnancy is, after all, intentional 100% of the time Women of MATY: rabble rabble rabble self righteous cunts out the ass how dare you seriously imply that pregnancy doesn't happen by accident and women aren't people, I'm going to go be ugly in front of a hooters because I hate pretty women

I think even the BBSers would be appalled by your inability to read. I suggest you re-read the title of this section.
Thank you for coming all the way in from the year 2000 to tell us about it.
The fun part of these posts is that both of you are making fun of them for posting Sims 1 stuff in the Sims 3 forum, as if they cannot read, but they are referring to the Sims 1 world FOR THE SIMS 3 posted within the link. The best kind of irony is self-righteousness that leads to self-ownage. Inability to read indeed, dumbasses. Did you miss what the last few posts were about? Hint: They were discussing a Sims 1 hood remake. Though there's still a clear reading problem- as the one they posted is the one I said I want an alternative to.

Over on Microsoft's site, there are the commands to make your OS Large Address Aware.
If you have up to 4G of ram (which I think should be the mimimum to play Sims3), there's a utility over on MTS that will make the game Large Address Aware without violating the EA's TOS.
A bit of searching on both sites will help keep your game from crashing from memory shortages.
You simply need to remember to turn off LAA before you add another EP/SP and/or patch your game, then turn it back on before you play.
The Patch Downloader tool at MTS also includes an option to set your game to LAA.
durp durp hurp durp Now i've found a way to avoid that horrible crash with CFF Explorer by making the .exe file use well over 2GB of RAM and these crashes no longer occur while playing.

Did any of the Sims 1 neighborhoods ever get finished? I know one was, but the creator took massive personal liberties with the way it looked, and it was not generally well-recieved because of that. I had one I was making that I was in love with, and it even had all the proper lot sizes. But CAW corrupted it. :\ Edit- woop, I guss it wasnt as poorly received as I thought. http://mysims3blog.blogspot.com/2010/07/sims-1-unleashed-hood-recreated-for.htmlMostly people reacted to "They made it different..." with "they HAD TO because RABBIT HOLES!!!!". Somehow "new stuff in the sims 3" even manages to justify different road layouts, however that works, and Robodl rears his functionally retarded head to note that "the original only had 12 lots", clearly being a few pages behind the rest of us. Whatever, it took liberties. Are there any out there that didn't?

I've tried, but I lose all inspiration really quickly. I am too lazy to actually plan a world, and things I make don't look right when planned, so it just doesn't work.
In The Sims 2 I'd actually take a 20x30 lot and build two homes on it, essentially making two 20x15 lots (before custom lot sizes came around), and I'd pack the town full of houses like that. I loved how it looked to look down the street and see all these little houses in close quarters. Maybe I could do this to sunset valley or something, removing all the existing lots and adding in nothing but 20x15 or 20x20 lots.

Double-check the install directory to make sure that the game is actually deleting these files when you uninstall. Sometimes a modified file, whether modified by the game itself or not (patch), will stay behind after uninstall because the game thinks its your custom file and it has no right to delete it.
That, or try installing in a different directory.
