My sim Moms always have to right back to work the day they give birth unless it happens to be a normal day off.I get the pop up that say So and so has been given an extra 3 days off to spend with the new baby and an hour later the carpool shows up to whisk mom off to work. My sim as a result has to rush to the phone and call one those horrid nannies before she can even cuddle her newborn
Can't you just cancel out the go to work action and let them call you and tell you you've used a vacation day? I can and have...

Why would anyone want to edit memories?
I'd quite like to get rid of the caught cheating memory my sim got when that cow mascot flirted with her - she even rejected the flirt, so why should it be considered an affair and cheating?

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Leaving things from inventories on community lots

Can this be done with things other than gravestones? My sim's fiancee just died in a tragic accident and I would like him to go leave the dream date bouquet she gave him at her grave (on the community lot). If I have him leave it there will it show up by the phone in build mode? I didn't think of trying it till I quit the game and really want to know if it will work, or if gravestones have a special property so only they can be left on community lots.

My second favorite was "Hey, congratulations on pissing your pants!"
The poor daughter of Lilith Pleasant and Dirk Dreamer spent her whole life being congratulated on having wet herself at her own birthday party, with the balloons and the crossed out loo and all. It was hot gossip (made a change from fires and burnt dinner I guess) so everyone knew about it.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Do money sims ever get 'earn $100,000' want?

Actually, if i have room to throw the dj booth somewhere out of reach for 24 hours and then sell it back, I do. Over and over. But the bowling alley is way too big to do that.
I do this with the musical instruments (although all sims want them, not just fortune) but then they cancel their whole queue when they get home to walk over to where it was, throw a tantrum and "miss object". Putting them in the iventory is a great idea!

I get the Earn $100,000 LTW quite often, but have never seen the $50,000 one as an LTW. What about the wants they get for more random numbers? I always see things like earn $2675, $8350, etc. I don't get what triggers those.
Anyway, I hate fortune sims so hard. So hard. Always wanting crap I would never normally buy in a million years.
I see those random numbers occasionally too - I seem to remember them coming up when the sim got home from work and fulfilled another earn whatever want. What I hate about the endless wanting to buy $5000 paintings etc is that there isn't enough variety - I don't want that damn painting in every house. I also can't be bothered going on an expensive painting downloading binge just for fortune sims. And oh, the stupid looking garden my fortune sims had before I figured out you could sell all those flower beds and trees they wanted after they set off for work and they wouldn't lose their good work performance rating.

I just had a child turn into a teen. His aspiration is Popularity and he came up with a completely blank LTW.
I have found that all my kids who have transitioned to teen since nightlife start with a blank LTW until they have fulfilled one normal want.

I've even had them pull an MP3 player out of their pocket and start listening, when I KNOW they didn't have one!!!
Sims can autonomously "listen in" when another sim is using their MP3 player. Then if the first sim (who started with the MP3 player in their inventory) stops listening first, the player ends up in the second sim's inventory. I watched my teen sim do this with her dad.

Alternatively, you could make them vampires by downloading one of the fairly-numerous "cheat" objects available to make your Sims vampires. One object on Mod The Sims 2 pretty much adds an option to the refrigerator to make your Sims vampires/normal.
You can also shift-click on the sim with the testingcheats mode on.

I remember someone talking about this a while back and they determined it was because they would rotate interactions between the sims,ie. the girl kisses the guy than the guy kisses the girl. When you do that in a hot tub, it sometimes confuses the game and you get bogus memories. This might help--or not.
When I got these memories, I had done this (rotating the sim who initiated the romantic interaction in the ground level hottub).

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: too many character files

Are you having problems with gameplay though? Now that the patch has been released the number of character files might not be as big a problem. It seems premature to ditch the neighbourhood because it has lots of character files if it's not being particularly glitchy or buggy. Not that I'm remotely expert on this subject ...

I dunno if children even have the food fight option - need to check. But they should... shouldn't they?
Kids do have this option - and obviously don't get crushes. But it adds more to social than fun, and social goes up lots with just all the talking, without making them pause to do the throw food interaction. It's cute though.

I am downloading it now (I have dialup! half an hour to go ). I can't see any mention of fixing crushes due to seemingly innocent "ask" and "buy coffee for" things, although crushes from handhelds and cheerups are mentioned. Has anyone tried those things yet?

It'd be great if talking to a stranger sim doesn't automatically mean a memory of having "Met so-&-so" and instant exchange of phone numbers until they've been (self-)introduced. It shouldn't count as having met someone until there's a handshake or somebody's been greeted, or something to that effect, but oh well, it's Merola's Mind Control Mirror to the rescue in the meantime....
So, can someone verify this please? Many thanks in advance.
They get memories of meeting everyone (including all the service NPCs like the person who shows them to their seat when dining etc). When I have sims downtown, my other neighbourhood sims are there chatting away to any and everyone - a couple have made new friends I have had nothing to do with. Indeed, one particular sim (Kim) seems determined to win back her ex-husband (Ryan) entirely behind my back. He hates her, but they keep meeting in town when I am not in control of either of them and chatting their way back to a positive relationship. If Ryan hadn't already remarried I might just let her win... but she doesn't deserve him!

When pedants forget to type their apostrophes, it makes Jesus cry. So contributing to the conversation makes me a pedant, but making a snotty comment about a typo is useful. Yeeeeah. I never called you a pedant. Rohina talked of her love of pedantry, while forgetting her apostrophe. It amused me. I promise I'll shut up now.

Its quite possible to use "their" as a non-gender-specific pronoun, just not a singular non-gender-specific pronoun.

He keeps re-rolling the swimming want which of course I can 'fix' once the hack is available......until then.......*sigh*
do you mean the pool hack? according to the official nightlife list, the code hasn't changed so you should still be able to use it.
