EA obviously should've made a better default thumbnail than that to avoid confusion.

That reminds me of something, but I'm not sure what.

I play with a scroll wheel. I used to play on a laptop without one. Never again.

I attach mice to laptops and place a "patch" over the useless touchpad. Touchpads suck, especially if you have fingernails of any length at all past the fingertip, and I don't mean talons.

It's all what you are used to, though. Some of my classmates are speed-demons with their stupid touchpads. I hate them, thus never bothered to get acclimated to them.

I have tried it on the fridge and the stupid Gnome that moves around.

The gnome moves? I only saw it stand up in a funny pose, it never really moved from the spot.

Asked, answered, and discussed to death already in several threads. Try the Search feature.

In short, buyable gnomes do nothing but look tacky. Mysterious Mr. Gnomes can be acquired in various ways, and wander around the lot. This sort of nonsense has already worn thin with me, but I had a whole crew of them teleporting around and pointing at or skulking near things.

on that note, is it me or does alot of stuff seem about half done?  i love that theres a little bio card run down in the relationship menu, and i think its cool that you have to make your sim ferret the info out.  however, if our sims have wishes to 'cook so-and-so's favorite food' shouldnt their favorite food be listed on that card?  how am i supposed to know?  i dont examine every speech bubble and write this stuff down.  Similarly collecting seems pretty lacking.  wtf are we supposed to do with the metals and gems?  theyre not even pretty.  why would i want to display them?  maybe if i had a display case...  same deal with fishing.  i dont want 40 tiny fish bowls.  plus i think its a little cruel to keep a 10lb salmon in a tiny goldfish bowl - even if it is a lazily described extra dimensional whatever-the-hell.

You watch your sims sleep?

No. I said I found that extremely boring, and thus sent them off to fish indefinitely. Because watching Sims sleep is deadly dull. Ergo, inventories full of fish. Inventories full of fish = the ability to stock the home lot pool full of all the different varieties.
81  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: I like ghosts on: 2009 June 19, 11:38:53
The one ghost I had was a drowning ghost, so I gave her the Hydrophobic trait. I think I'd give electrocution ghosts the Technophobe trait. There's not really a negative fire trait, though...

It's too bad there isn't. Or that you can't make them LOVE water. Smiley
82  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Can't finish Omniplant Opportunity on: 2009 June 19, 11:30:47
Crikey, you lot must have been hard at it.

Since 85% of the game is sitting around watching them sleep, tap at a computer, or fish, I tend to temporarily lock their motives and just let them do it in the background and get distracted by the Internets or IRC. As a result, sometimes my Sims fish for Simdays, and, yes, that racks up a truckload of fish in short order.

Honestly, they must not bother with beta testers at all. Surely someone would have pointed out that watching Sims sleep is less enthralling than watching paint dry.
83  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Extreme difficulty in killing sims by fire? on: 2009 June 19, 11:12:36
It may be easy to kill selected currently playable family member Sims; is it equally as easy to bump off random townies?
84  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: WTF? Thief stole my Unusual Dukeadite Zucabr w/ No Alarm on: 2009 June 19, 04:47:38
There's a delay between the popup that says the repo man is coming and when he actually shows up. Go into buy mode and stuff anything you care about into your family inventory.

I certainly WOULD have, had I known he would take Vendor Trash Rares in payment.

This ugly-Hollywood-kid syndrome is explainable.  We movie-goers, apparently select (in the Mendelian sense) successful stars based on their exaggerated sexual characteristics.  Uber-feminine women, uber-masculine men.

Then there's looks that are acquired via plastic surgery. Starlet / actor gets rid of embarrassing nose or sunken chin or picket fence teeth, then has daughter or son with THAT nose / chin / grin.

Surgical changes, obviously, aren't genetic.
86  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: WTF? Thief stole my Unusual Dukeadite Zucabr w/ No Alarm on: 2009 June 18, 20:19:19
Repomen will also beeline to your rare gems and rocks first. More annoying than typical repo snatching, as you can buy most repossessed items, but have to go through the tedium of replacing a rare collectible by rummaging or running in circles around town.
87  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Blank Inventory Slot & Gem Stacking on: 2009 June 18, 14:20:16
Beepers are lost, and they do not regen either when you go back to work or next get promoted.  At least that's what happened with the cop beeper.

I wonder if you could use a tsting cheat to get it back, namely, switch to any other career / quit current cop jerb, then quit other job / switch back to cop jerb.
88  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: I like ghosts on: 2009 June 18, 12:54:43
I'm not sure I want them in my playables' homes, but I rather enjoy watching their shenanigans in the graveyard.

Though, if a playable can carry home a blue drowned ghost grave marker and pop it next to the family lot pond, that might be lulzy.
89  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Blank Inventory Slot & Gem Stacking on: 2009 June 17, 19:45:25
Note that if you have unmovable inventory items, like deeds / partnership papers, you'll have to transfer ownership to a family member Sim before purging. Items like work-related beepers pose a different problem, but, honestly, I'm not sure what purpose they serve, as the Sim who has a cop beeper has yet to have it DO anything. I also don't know if they would regenerate the next time you go to work.

Anyone who has done the purge with non-deed unmovables want to comment on what happens to stuff like work beepers?

LOL @ caterpillar's TS1 butler pic.

Some random pix:

CAS Sim eyes roommate, a premade EA Sim, while sticking his hand in the hot pizza.

Sarah Palin Constance Shelley, next-door neighbor.

Weird crap that will grow on an Omniplant: various fish and some books.

Ghosts are great tippers if you busk in the cemetary.

I see dead people. Walking around like regular people. They don't see each other. They only see what they want to see. They don't know they're dead.

Creepy gnome raids the bar.

Ridiculous Vendor Trash collection. taken before completing the rainbow gem set, getting 5 pink diamonds, and 15 Zucabr (Gigantic Space) rocks. WTF do people do with this crap? We need shelves! My house's foundation space is now filled with bugs, rocks and other crap.

The first Zucabr rock the family found. The collector can't believe that huge thing actually fit in his Hammerspace.

Tacky Britney-esque outfit your female Rockstars get stuck with.

Judging Sims on their appearance is still judging people-shaped flat images on a computer screen, not actual human beings. Just because they look like peple does not mean they ARE people, or that someone's desire not to have "ugliness" in their personal game is somehow wrong or bad, or comparable to being sexist / sizeist / blindly accepting of the fashion industry / beauty industry / mass media's widely-promoted nearly impossible standards of beauty.

If you're cool with letting free-range Townie fug run amok in your 'hood, that's on you.
If you want to BURNINATE them all, that's also on you.

Let's try being a wee bit less F-ly over PIXELS.

Also, as was noted before, the puddings are bad, but Sandy Bruty (Gorilla Fishlips) in TS2 was FAR worse. The TS3 puddings mostly just look too much alike, which is mostly because we only have, like, 3-4 hairstyles that aren't completely horrific, and only 4-5 outfit shapes that don't make you want to throw up, and the default head size is FAT, 100% tapioca and FAIL.
93  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Can't finish Omniplant Opportunity on: 2009 June 16, 20:56:47
There's [a community Omniplant] tucked in a corner around the right-hand (front the front) side of the science bulding.

Thanks! I thought I'd poked around there thoroughly. I suppose I didn't!

Thanks for sharing... This answers the question if predator/prey can share the same pond.

They not only can, but in RV, some of the stocked pools at the LARGE community fishing area have predator and prey in the same pools by default.
94  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Important notice from the GRAMMAR POLICE. Plz read. This means you. on: 2009 June 16, 20:53:14
When I read this, I was reminded about some commercial I saw about an awareness program to stop calling retarded people retarded.

We have discussed this awareness program here at MATY already. The consensus seemed to be that our Tards are altogether worse and well deserving of their Trashcans, scorn, Tard status and special titles, unlike those mentally retarded people / small-L 'tards out there who had the misfortune to be born that way but who can be pleasant to be around even if dim; and, also, This Is MATY, We Are Not Politically Correct, Take Your Butthurt Elsewhere.

If you have an interest in that sort of thing, the Search box will help you find the original discussion about this.
95  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: No two children are not boys? on: 2009 June 16, 20:28:40
The key problem with the "just boys" issue is that the bloody apple trees are obsequious, and one of the first bloody things your sim can grow.  Consequently, everyone has one.  I have yet to even SEE a watermelon in my game.

I believe I bitched about this issue in the original thread. It should have at least been limes or lettuce, which are available from level 0. Though, in RV, I have not found many harvestables outside of the community garden area.

The "ubiquitous / obsequious" thing has been noted. Smiley I knew that you meant, though.

An obsequious apple tree is probably related to Shel Silverstein's Giving Tree. (I didn't own or read the book as a 0 or 6, so I'm just guessing the author name; my memory is not that great today. I blame the bug bombs.)
96  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Can't finish Omniplant Opportunity on: 2009 June 16, 17:32:23
can you stock a pond with salt water fish, too, or will they die?

I, too, have all 21 varieties of fish in the little pond on my home lot, just for laughs. None have died yet! And yes, it requires multiples of ten to stock.

I originally thought I'd got the buggers to jump in my homemade pond, but was wrong: I'd told two Sims to stock and was only watching one. The other Sim finished what she was supposed to be busy doing early and started stocking just "off-screen," causing splash animations and noises. Then went off to do her next command in the queue. When I couldn't reproduce "fish jumping on non-default water source," I restarted the save I'd made just prior to the stocking and caught her at it. DARN!

100  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Maids and bed-making on: 2009 June 14, 17:57:06
At least your maids do something to earn their pay. My Sims seem to have four rotating maids, two female and two male, and because one of the Sims is neat, they often just satnd on the porch, throw out a paper (if I am lucky), and then say they're all done, charge the family $125, and leave. I fired the service, and the family spammed up wants to get maids again. Hire, fire. Spam. Hire, fire.  Cheesy
