226  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BURGLAR MORE CHALLENGING on: 2006 August 30, 03:38:02
I haven't seen the burglar since university. The burglars don't seem to want to rob anyone in my hood.
227  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Child coming home from school at the wrong time on: 2006 August 25, 01:59:20
Is this an inteen issue or a maxis issue? I don't use inteen, but I've had this happen before the patch came out. I looked at the list for what the patch fixes, but it doesn't say anything about this.

All I can tell you is to stop using the flavor packs. I read on the inteen website that it has to do with the flavor packs.
228  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Question about purchasing Sims 2 stuff via the official site Digital Downloa on: 2006 August 25, 00:52:26
I used the EA thinggy for the holiday pack and promptly uninstalled it afterward because it goes into yoour user startup. I uninstall my game a lot so that means everytime I do, I have to reinstall the downloader to get the game back. I have never had a problem reinstalling the game and as far as I know, the game is always available for you, meaning you won't have to redownload the game, just reinstall it on your machine. I haven't tried it on any other machine, but it only requires a login so it may work that way as well.
229  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Rant: I hate Maxis roofs on: 2006 August 23, 01:59:57
I tried that before. In my game, the angle reverts when you exit and reload the lot. It's okay if you don't mind doing that everytime you enter the lot, but, eh, it's hardly worth it.
230  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anyone else using Sims 2 Categorizer? on: 2006 August 23, 01:47:11
I am the queen of impatience and that program runs way too slow for me. I tried doing it like rome_raven, but everytime I open a folder on top of that one it crashes.
231  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Child coming home from school at the wrong time on: 2006 August 22, 00:07:32
Have you patched your game? That was an issue for a while, but I think they fixed it with the latest patch.
232  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Rant: I hate Maxis roofs on: 2006 August 18, 22:03:06
I despise the roof limitations! I know how to do the floor as a roof thing, but imho, it looks tacky. I don't like it. There is some really simple things that maxis should have just included, but didn't.
233  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: STFU - University Replacements on: 2006 August 06, 14:43:05
I like these! The mascots look a hell of a lot better your way!

Can you tell me where you found a tutorial to do default replacements or how to do it, please?
234  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Point me in the Right Direction on: 2006 August 03, 17:33:08
Thanks for pointing me in different directions.

I know about paladin's npc replacer, but that replaces the whole npc, I just want to do the outfit. I hate that the maid looks like she's coming over to do the husband instead of the housework and the social worker looks as if she lives a life of celebacy. It's alright, I'll figure it out.

About the skintone. Does that work for all ages? I have the skintones already...from the simsi, but he seems to believe that his models will never have children, especially the opposite gender. I would be ok with it, but he uses maxis skins and I find those horribly ugly. I'm just trying to make his fabulous skins available for all ages. Silly me, I thought I could just cut and paste, but all the faces and bodies are different sizes.
235  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Point me in the Right Direction on: 2006 August 03, 14:51:13
I've been looking for a simple tutorial for making custom skintones...actually, I just want to make a skintone I already have available for all ages and genders. I've searched MTS2, TSR, and here, but all I'm finding is creating default replacements which is not what I want. Is it idiot proof, just cut and paste? Well, any help is appreciated.

And, does anybody know how to do default clothing mesh replacements? I want to make the maid and social worker uniforms into a different maxis outfit.
236  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: A question about packaged lot file sizes... on: 2006 July 31, 20:30:17
I assume I need the skin, hair, eyebrows and eye along with the lot pics, the family pics and the teens. Can I just get rid of everything else?

Ben

Yes.
237  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: A question about packaged lot file sizes... on: 2006 July 31, 14:08:58
If the furniture is all maxian then that won't really hurt the file size, if it's all custom content then it creates a huge file...plus a family creates a monster file! The best I can say is to get the clean installer at MTS2. It lets you see all the files that are included in your lot. Clean out whatever isn't necessary or potentially bad. I'm pretty sure it lets you see additional character files and memories so you can delete those.

238  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: a bank loan mod? on: 2006 July 30, 05:35:37
I recently deleted Monique's ATM.  First because, I never used it...and secondly because my Hack Conflict Detector said there was a possible conflict with Monique's computer.   Huh

--green

There is no conflict between the computer and the ATM...they are meant to work together. The reason I have the ATM is because I can have it at a corner store and it only costs my sims a taxi ride to go get the loan. They won't ever be able to afford the computer until they get a loan. It makes sense to me...but maybe not to others.
239  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: a bank loan mod? on: 2006 July 29, 19:31:49
The ATM machine is Moniqu's. It works with the computer and I have both installed.
240  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Uploading a "used" lot on: 2006 July 29, 19:29:58
No, the users don't have to do it again...so thanks for saving us some time!  Wink
241  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: a bank loan mod? on: 2006 July 29, 15:37:15
Here is an ATM machine.

It's the best I've seen for loans. You can get a loan, pay back the loan, check your account to see how much you owe, and make a contribition if you find that your sim has a little too much money. The loan will accrue interest and if you use this, beware of overdoing the loan. Interest rates are HIGH and your sims will never be able to pay it off.
242  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Uploading a "used" lot on: 2006 July 28, 20:22:45
I just create a random sim and kill him/her off when I'm done play-testing the house. That way adjustments can be made if needed and the furniture stays when I'm done. It works the best for me.

I should say that I use a completey unplayed neighborhood for creating houses. There is no risk of having too many dead sims there, but if you create in your playing neighborhood, I don't recommend killing off your sims. You could just package the lot, plop it down next door, play-test, and make changes to the other one if it needs it...that will work, too.

By-the-way, I love the little community you've been unploading!  Grin

Floppy disks? Did they not become obsolete when Bill Gates became God?

Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
Bill Gates is GOD? Phfft he wishes! Windows XP showed just how ungodlike he is.

And if you've tried the Beta for Windows Vista, you'll definately see how far from God he really is!

Oh, sorry. I took it down because it wasn't finished, I just wanted some feedback. Besides that, I absolutely hate that blogger site. I'm making a page for it on my site.
246  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Community Weddings after OFB on: 2006 June 30, 20:08:25
Oh, I forgot to warn you! Don't drive to the community lot to get married, take a taxi or the limo won't be able to pick you up for the honeymoon.
247  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Community Weddings after OFB on: 2006 June 30, 17:28:07
Doesn't squinge have a community lot weddings mod?? I used it before and didn't have any trouble in my game.

It took a while, but I found it. Link

Cwieberdink- I first read that book when I was on a volunteer mission in the Phillipines. If I didn't have the exeriences of those girls to share in my misery and understanding, I probably would have quit! I read it once a year to remind myself of the fortune I have now...though very small...lol

I tried writing to her ages ago, but really, that woman is elusive! She leaves no trace of herself anywhere. Ah well, I'll have a go at it and abandon it if I should see anyone lurking around with shifty eyes.
249  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Critique My Story on: 2006 June 29, 15:51:29
Interesting concept, but I can't help wondering about the legalities of it, with it being a recent novel - copyright, in other words.

I thought about that, too. Which is why I hesitated so long. I've been trying to come up with ways to change the story around so that it has the same concepts and ideals, but my own version of it. The only thing that absolutely had to stay generally the same was the first and last chapter. I paraphrased, rewrote, and left out tons of stuff in the first chapter. And the last chapter is the first chapter through different eyes.

I like the setting and the history of the book, that's what has to stay the same...I hope I don't get into trouble...but with all the Harry Potter stories out there, I don't know.
250  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Critique My Story on: 2006 June 29, 13:47:57
I'm starting a story based on the book, The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. It's my favorite book and I have been wanting to do this project for a long time. The first chapter isn't really done, but I wanted some opinions on what I could do better. I do know that I'm aweful at getting them to pose the way I want...until I found free will off, that is. lol

This first chapter is pretty confusing, it hints at many things and you never quite get it. OK, I'm rambling...here's the link.
