401  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Things We've Learned From The BBS on: 2005 October 18, 16:15:29
Ugh them and their "boolprop" paranoia.  Angry First of all, it's debug mode, or testingcheatsenabled. It's NOT friggin boolprop! boolprop is just a boolean property, which is just a code property that can only be either true or false. There's lots of 'boolprop's. boolprop constrainfloorelevation true/false, boolprop allow45degreeangleofrotation true/false, boolprop dormspecifictoolsdisabled true/false etc/etc.

Truthfully when I first got the game back in February and then found the BBS, I was terrified of using "boolprop" after reading all the "boolprop ruined my game" threads. It wasn't until I found VS and then followed JM here that I began to have an understanding of what it actually was and what's it uses were. It annoys me that that kind of paranoia and misinformation is allowed to run rampant on the BBS...even more then the twincheats and Bella rumours.
402  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Things We've Learned From The BBS on: 2005 October 18, 15:34:53
Things I've learned from the BBS: That no matter how clearly I state a problem or question and say that I haven't any hacks, custom content or do not use *gasp* broolprop, these things will always be to blame for what the problem is, because I MUST have them installed and have used boolprop with wild abandonment. The game/EA/Maxis itself is never to blame for any problems that might creep up, it must be something I have done. Roll Eyes
403  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Yoohoo - you can resurrect Lyla Grunt "legally"..:) on: 2005 October 16, 02:16:51
Well previous to installing the NL patch I was able to resurrect Skip Broke (although there isn't a tombstone/urn) and Michael Bachelor. I tried to resurrect Lyla Grunt after I installed the patch and General Buzz received the message from the Grim Ripper "I don't know why you are calling me, you don't know anyone who died, etc." I'm glad I got to resurrect some of the sims I could but I am disappointed that they "fixed" it with the patch. Undecided
404  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How many Sims are you playing? on: 2005 October 15, 03:25:38
At one point I thought it would be fun to create a kind of "foster home" for some of those poor kids in the adoption pool. I created a sim and then had her adopt 7 of them (4 toddlers, 3 children). The house drove me batty, pause, click, pause, click, rinse lather, repeat. Everyone's aspiration level was in the toilet, the original "foster mom" barely knew or had a relationship with most of the kids...what a nightmare. "Unfortunately" this was in my first custom neighborhood that I ended up having to delete due to constant bugginess so I never did see much progression in the house, too much work.  Roll Eyes

That is absolutely freakin' hilarious Brynne (not to mention, a little creepy as well). Grin
406  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New survey on official BBS on: 2005 October 14, 23:13:19
I'm not in college. I'm in an apartment on a small commercial ISP (nothing well known that like AOL or anything like that). I can't think of why in the world it wouldn't let me in but I swear that it wouldn't and I kept trying too.

I was at work with msn for dial up (yay getting DSL next week!) connection when I tried the to get onto the survey first thing this morning and I kept getting the survey is full message as well. Maybe the BBS just hates us, Motoki. Wink
407  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I'm kinda glad I started from scratch - much more entertaining! on: 2005 October 14, 19:23:05
Heck, I'll even use hacked objects to tailor some family's skills, jobs, etc., to be such that it looks like they've already been played for a bit of time and I'm really just picking up at a certain point.  After all, isn't that what the pre-made families really are?

[/quote]

I do the same thing for some sims as far as skills go. For instance if I use CAS to make an elder, I think it's ridiculous that an older person wouldn't have at least one skill at cooking, cleaning, etc., By the time a person is older they surely would have accomplished some skills in life (at least I would hope so!), so I give them what I think is a reasonable amount of skills and then have them work on the rest.
408  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I'm kinda glad I started from scratch - much more entertaining! on: 2005 October 14, 17:28:01
That's funny, KellyQ, that you posted about Angela coming home with Dustin every day. Before the patch, I didn't realize that was a glitch. There is so much illogical intentional programming in the game that I thought they meant to do it, because D & A were dating. I thought maybe all non-live-in relationships would turn out like that.

Yeah, I didn't think it was a glitch either, I thought it was designed that way. I thought it was odd how when I had the Brokes move, she quit coming home with him and he hasn't rolled any wants involving her either. Mind you, that was even before I installed the patch. Maybe when they moved they entered the Witness Protection Program to hide from her, lol. I haven't played the Pleasants house yet though, so I don't know if she will end up bringing him home when and if, I do. Or maybe they fixed that too. I hope so because you know that if she brings him home, when I get back to his lot, he'll start rolling up wants about her. Damn kids! Wink

My daughter and I play the game together and she did some things without asking me if it was ok...like deleting the Oldies, Mortimer Goth and the Calientes (she's only 12, what can I say? Shocked) But she has created some characters that she's really attached to, so instead of resetting the neighborhood I decided last weekend to start a second account on my computer and play Pleasantview from scratch (and I got to add some "adult" content to it e.g. removed the censor patch, anatomical skins, etc.,).  I've resurrected Skip Broke, had him romance and remarry Brandi, then I motherloaded them and moved the whole family  into a nice townhouse....something interesting there, I found that when I moved them, Angela quit coming home with Dustin every damned day (pre NL patch). I am still looking for a nice girl for Dustin because for whatever irrational reason, I hate Angela, lol. I turned Mortimer Goth into an adult and had him marry Dina. I resurrected Michael Bachelor at the Caliente house and have plans for him and Nina. I did have Don and Cassandra get married, although I'm kind of regretting that now; I may have to remedy that situation. No plans for the Pleasants yet, I don't really like any of them but Lilith.
I'm like Ancient Sim though, what I would really like to do is just make up a neighborhood of my favorites like Nervous Subject, the Brokes and some CAS sims I have made in my custom neigborhood.

411  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Holiday Addon pack announced on: 2005 October 13, 15:35:51
Thanks a lot, I'll get it when I have the spare cash!  (I never buy in the shops now, for the same reason.  When I got the original sims2 from Amazon, it wss miles cheaper than the shops!  and even with the free delivery (2nd class) it only took 2 days to arrive (one really, as I ordered it on a sunday and it arrived on the Tuesday!

I just wish supermarket ordering was cheaper, instead of that £5 delivery charge!  Then I might use that too!

I used free delivery and got it and NL on the day it was released, university one day later. I was very impressed, and I do like Amazon a lot. I've had to quit though, I get too click happy in the books section Wink

I love Amazon, the majority of my Christmas shopping is done there (why hassle with cranky crowds and lines?). The book section of Amazon is almost impossible for me to resist....I'm trying though since my husband "commented" (nice way of saying he was totally bent) that Amazon packages show up at our house almost as often as the daily mail.
412  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Patching game with multiple accounts on: 2005 October 13, 14:50:29
I also use 2 accounts to play the game, the first one is the one my (pre-teen) daughter and I share, the second is one that I play a more "adult" version of (censor patch removed, anatomical skins, etc.,) the game on. Anyhow, I downloaded the patch last night for the first account, installed it, ran it. I switched to the second account, downloaded the patch again but when I went to install it, it popped up a box saying that the patch had already been installed and was up to date.
So as Renatus said, the main file is the one that is updated and the other account takes it cue from that one. Which of course makes sense, after all I didn't reinstall everything when I created the second account, it just uses the main files from the first one. I had a very "d'oh" moment. Grin
413  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Constant Freezing on: 2005 October 12, 18:19:56
You know one thing about reading TS2 boards is that it is very reassuring to find out I am not the only one who shelled out a fair amount of money for a new computer just so I could play a computer game. I bought a new computer back in February and I'm already thinking I may need to upgrade the RAM and processor; very discouraging considering that I'm still making payments on the bloody thing. The sad part is that if my son or daughter had ever approached me about buying a new computer so that they could play a game, I would have thought they were insane (and extremely spoiled).
414  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Baby unselectable, will not grow up :( on: 2005 October 12, 17:59:00
Thanks for the list, dizzy. I actually only downloaded Inteen so I could get rid of that false pregnancy, I couldn't think of any other way to do it (not being familiar with SimPe). I'll have to make sure I uninstall it when I get home from work tonight, hopefully it did do the trick.
Btw rainbow, thanks to your advice I was able to add want slots to a sim who recently lost 2 of his want slots (again!).  Wink
415  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Baby unselectable, will not grow up :( on: 2005 October 12, 16:13:23
After moving the entire family in and out of the original Specter house, then to another house, moving them in and out of that house, deleting the baby and Ophelia many times with no luck, Ophelia still showed up in maternity clothes, very pregnant.  I ended up downloading the Insiminator and the Inteenimator, I then selected Ophelia and "make me pregnant with" Johnny, after the lullaby played, I clicked on "end pregnancy". It seems to have worked. *crosses fingers*
I know I can rename the baby with Merola's painting and several other ways but I kind of like the name "Baby Girl Nigmos".  Grin
416  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Holiday Addon pack announced on: 2005 October 12, 01:43:22
I don't see where the interactions are anything all that special or there's that many of them. There's what, a New Years party, which is basically a house party called something else with "fireworks" (a little cinema scene I am guessing), and a visit by Santa. I didn't see anything else that would be considered a new interaction unless you count food. Maybe there's more stuff, but I doubt there's a whole lot more to it. I know they sent out that survey a while back about doing mini packs that contained mostly items based around a theme so this sounds basically like that. Considering that the full expansions are $30, yes, I do think $20 is a bit steep for a small pack of very seasonal items that generally won't be of interest for most of the year.

What he said.  Wink
417  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Does anyone ever feel this way about some of the in-game faces? on: 2005 October 11, 20:08:09
Having been experimenting with the Townie/NPC maker in Nightlife, I've noticed that there are some new "downtownie" templates that have been added with the expansion pack.  But unlike the base game townies, these templates seem to be not just faces, but clothing, hair color, make-up, etc. all locked such that you get an identical sim every time the template is used.  I discovered this after wiping a new neighborhood of all sims then using the generator to auto-create a set a new downtownies.

Ok, I give...what Townie/NPC maker?

What I find puzzling is the fact that all the good-looking ones are hidden or unusable.  The Tricou family in NL, for instance, are all dead, and they are certainly better-looking than the average townie.  The llama mascot now married and in the neighbourhood in my game is absolutely GORGEOUS, but he still goes everywhere in his stupid costume so I have to boolProp him out of it whenever he appears so I can go all gooey over him.  I also have a cow mascot in the neighbourhood who's quite pretty, certainly more so than the majority of dormies and Uni NPC's.

And who are the Tricous?

Take the no baby harsement out of the game as it wont let u pick up the baby and you could also try JM expermental birth fix.

Please see at the end of my post that I don't have the nobabyharrassment hack installed.
419  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Baby unselectable, will not grow up :( on: 2005 October 11, 15:23:54
Ok, I'm having a similar problem in Strangetown. Johnny and Opheilia were expecting a baby, everything was going fine until she gave birth. The cinematic (sp) started when she went into labor, then suddenly she "jumped" ( I don't know where she went, all I could see in the movie was the smaller plumbob of the baby and then the baby kind of floating in the air) after the cinematic ended, Opheilia went into the living room and started watching tv. I thought she looked like she was still doing the pregnancy waddle thing even though she was wearing her pre-pregnancy clothing. The baby was just laying on the floor in the bedroom where she went into labor and no one could interact with it. The name baby box never did come up and build/buy modes were greyed out, so I couldn't use moveobjects_on to move the baby or delete it. Stupid me, I SAVED and exited. When I went back in, same thing, build/buy modes greyed out and still can't interact with the baby. So I exited again, moved the family out of the house (by the way this is the original Spectre lot) then moved them back in. Now Opehila is in her maternity clothes, looking VERY pregnant holding the baby she just had and still no options to buy/build.
I moved them out again and into a new house. Buidl/buy modes are enabled but Opheila is still showing up pregnant, she's lost one of her want slots and Johnny has lost 2 of his. ( I had upgraded them using JM's lots debugger previously.) I have Uni and NL, I don't have the nobabyharrassment hack installed (although it's been driving me crazy not to have it) and I'm at a loss on how to fix this. Any ideas on how to make it so Opheila is not pregnant would be greatly appreciated Huh
420  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Submit Issues about Nightlife on: 2005 October 07, 14:34:26
I haven't seen this mentioned but I may have overlooked it. Has anyone else had a sim's date end before it starts? I've had this happen twice. The first time it happened my sim was at home (in my custom neighborhood) and she paid the matchmaker for a blind date. Her date had no more then just landed out of the sky when a box popped up saying "uh, ok, thanks that wasn't too great" or something along those lines and the guy left. The second time was in Pleasantview, I had my teen sim call a boy she's going steady with and ask him to go downtown on a date. The taxi came and she went downtown. I saw both her and her boyfriend get out of the taxi and then that same box popped up about the date not being great and he left. I have some of JM's, Inge's and TwoJeff's hacks installed but nothing that hasn't been approved for NL. So I'm wondering if this is a bug anyone else has experienced?
421  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Can't buy groceries in NL DownTown on: 2005 October 05, 16:33:34
I'm glad someone asked this question because I was wondering if I was somehow retarded not being able to figure this out. I have never had a sim actually go grocery shopping because pre-NL the community lots took forever to load so I always had them delievered. The downtown lots load much more quickly so the other day I decided to send a sim grocery shopping and could not for the life me figure out why I couldn't click on anything to buy; he ended up going back home and ordering groceries after all. I guess it's nice to know I'm not retarded and that it's not a "bug", it's a "feature". Roll Eyes
422  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Strange Family Ties on: 2005 October 04, 19:32:10
[
Regarding the original topic, I went through with SimPE and marked all of the three Curious brothers + Jenny Smith + Lola and Chloe Singles as "family" and "siblings". Yet, despite being seen as family, Chloe has options to Flirt with Vidcund and Lazlo. I don't know whether this is a bug in the game, or a bug in SimPE (could it be that although I ticked the box in SimPE, the game can't read the correction?). I

I don't think it has anything to do with SimPe since I have never used it. I created a new family the other night, mom, 2 teen daughters and a teen son, the teenagers have the option to "flirt" with each other. I am quite perplexed (and kind of grossed out) as to how this could be.
423  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: A question I really hate to ask but..... on: 2005 October 02, 05:22:01
Oh yes, I remember reading that also...I wonder what I have done to my game?  Huh
424  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: A question I really hate to ask but..... on: 2005 October 01, 04:54:21
hmmm...but before I installed NL, Brandi couldn't resurrect Skip with the Grim Reaper phone after I installed NL she could. I don't use Simpe because I don't feel confident messing with stuff I don't have the slightest clue how to use. Curiouser and curiouser.
425  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: A question I really hate to ask but..... on: 2005 September 30, 17:13:02
I am surprised - it has been discussed  already in TS2: you can't resurrect pre-made dead, only if they died when you played them (like Mortimer, Daniel Pleasant, etc).

The only one you can resurrect in Pleasantview is - Darleen Dreamer, the wife of Darren. Why? I don't know.

In Strangetown you can't resurrect anyone that died in the Olive's yard - only Olive, if she dies.
I revived Lila Grunt with the SimPe+teleporter (you have to remove the "I am dead" tokens from her memory, and any memory of her death in Buzz, Tank, or Ripp's memories).
I revived Bella too and married her to Mortie.

In Verinaville, you can resurrect 2 pre-made dead too.

Yes, I realize it has been discussed in TS2 but since the advent of NL many people have discussed how it is now possible to resurrect sims that were previously not available to be resurrected e.g. Skip Broke.
