I'm guessing that was meant to inform us that the OP was indeed collapsing the categories afterwards... or a custom hair was causing the issue.

I could be wrong about both though, and the OP may just be indulging in a nip or three of something highly alcoholic in nature and posting nonsense. Wink

Have you tried deleting the groups.cache file after every play session? I've had this issue occasionally, or one similar to it, and all that was needed was to delete that file.
3  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hopefully on: 2008 January 23, 00:08:00
I know how to do it. Assmitten do cut out the patronising.

Oh forget it

Well if you're just going to emo-flounce at every reply, it's no wonder people give you crap. You either want help or you don't. Expecting everyone to develop telepathy and magically provide the solution to all your problems in a syrupy tone is not an option. Soup to the BBS or one of those other forums where hugs and kisses flow freely, or suck it up and learn to ignore the less useful posters here.

I believe she just isn't looking in the right place, but I could be wrong.

I believe overly opinionated 12 year olds should LURK MOAR!
Especially if they aren't going to add anything remotely helpful to the thread.

Well see above. In Outfits, Where it gives you Everyday, Swim. PJ's etc.

Ok...

Did you do a complete, fresh install when you got the ability to play again, or did you just transfer everything from your old computer? Have you added any new EPs or SPs? If you have CC/mods/hacks, have you checked for updates? If you have CC, have you tried removing it to see if it's a custom hair that's causing this? Have you tried turning on testing cheats to see if any kind of error msg pops up? If you're using the mirror/change appearance, is it a CC mirror?

Ayshllyn, despite having a good sense of humor, has been slammed here quite a lot. Not surprising she has her hackles up.

No, it's completely understandable. And I'm certain the frustration caused by S2 doing random and completely unreasonable things doesn't help.  Tongue
6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hopefully on: 2008 January 22, 22:31:40
I don't think anyone was attempting to imply you are stupid, just requesting more information about the problem you are having. There are a number of people that had problems figuring out how to get the hair per outfit thing to work. Your initial post doesn't really provide any information other than "It doesn't work". If you want help, you'll have to explain what you are doing that isn't getting results.

8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Trying to install more RAM and failing, help on: 2008 January 11, 06:24:53
As Skadi indicated. It means that if you want 1gb total, you should install two 512mb sticks. If you want 2gb, install two 1gb sticks.
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Trying to install more RAM and failing, help on: 2008 January 11, 05:05:27
The Dell Dimension XPS 600 uses PC2-4200 memory and has 2 banks of 2 sockets each. 4 memory sockets total . I'm assuming you have an XPS, Google didn't pop up anything other than. Most computers prefer to have 2 sockets filled at a time with like RAM modules. That means, 2 512mb modules or, 2 1gb modules; one for each slot.
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Need Help Removing File on: 2008 January 09, 15:27:35
You could also go to the web page where you downloaded the file, here, assuming this is what you downloaded, re-download and unzip the files onto your desktop so you know the names of the files to look for.

From the looks of it, this came with a replacement wants.package. I hope you made a backup of the original.

ETA: The correct URL... must stop posting before properly caffeinated.
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lots don't fit in area where they should. on: 2008 January 05, 03:36:33
It may have something to do with the lot itself. IIRC, there are some EAxis lots that aren't level around the edges. This makes them so that they cannot be placed. Try entering the lot in question and look around the outer edges, see if any of them are not completely flat.

13  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims MIA via Sim Surgery & how to package inhabited lots on: 2007 December 31, 00:00:27
Edit: Another problem, with no eagerness to start yet another thread..
How do I go about packaging a lot that's inhabited without losing the furnishings? I've tried having the last person get invited to a neighbor's house and move in, but when I went back to the now-unoccupied house, everything was gone. Grah.

Attempts to package the lot and remove sims via Clean Installer resulted in a lot that places fine, but crashes the game any time I attempt to open it.

Inge has a StayThingsShrub on her website. I've used it with BV. As long as you don't mind the lot value being fubared. (Way less than it should be, from what I've observed.) You'll have to put a sim into the lot long enough to place the shrub and set it to keep objects at move-out.
14  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Put Away Leftovers > Get Leftovers > ...Nothing there. on: 2007 December 30, 23:48:16
Between the time you had the sim put the leftover away and try to retrieve it, did you happen to use the design tool to change the color of the fridge? I believe doing so will cause the fridge to lose some or all of it's contents. Or, it did cause this to happen at some point. Otherwise, could this be related to custom foods you've added to your downloads folder?
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's in YOUR Downloads? on: 2007 December 20, 17:36:30
BV DC minus a few things, PS and LS stuff, and then a handful of the unawesome, tightpants, puppy and kitten killing, cheaty stuffles that could explode my game some day.
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: releasing SimPE - soon on: 2007 December 18, 21:40:55
Has anyone thought to take a close look at IP addresses? May or may not be helpful, but it's worth a shot. Even the most talented of puppet masters can forget something as simple as that. And if he's so disinterested in the project, he shouldn't have any problem letting someone else take over for a while.

It's funny how every online community seems to harbor a contingent of drama sheeple. There must be a school somewhere that they all attend.

17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: releasing SimPE - soon on: 2007 December 18, 20:42:19
He could have just forwarded the emails to her; I have emails from 5 years ago, tucked away in various folders. It's a bit more difficult to explain the deleted posts.

I don't know Quaxi. In fact, I can't claim to really know anyone in the Sims community; my involvement as a whole consists of the few posts I've made here and at random other places. And as an outsider, the question that begs for answering is what reason Quaxi would have to sock puppet himself.  Maybe the strain is too much and he's finally lost it? In the end, if he is aware of what you are doing and wants you to stop, he'd tell you himself. Especially if sending this Stormchick to pass along his message doesn't get taken seriously. (At least, I hope this would be the case; otherwise, the Sims community drama llammas really are as bad as everything I've heard implies.  Wink)

You'd think he'd be asking "what are all these updates, where have they come from, and have they been tested?" - even if he didn't want a social chat.

Those would be the logical first questions from someone who's devoted a lot of time to a project, yes. Don't know how much "logical" applies though, when one is prone to up and vanishing without so much as a grunt and/or a quick "Going now, you work on it." But if it looks like a sock, smells like a dirty sock, it's probably a stinkin' sock puppet.   Tongue
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: releasing SimPE - soon on: 2007 December 17, 22:13:57
I don't recall having ever run across any custom pet careers... but then, I've no interest in such and wasn't really paying attention.
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: releasing SimPE - soon on: 2007 December 17, 18:38:47
Meh, your .64 is working for my purposes, so I'll just continue to use it. Your efforts are much appreciated.

I don't suppose Quaxi has anything enlightening to say about this Stormwench person, like wtf she is or anything? It might be useful to know should he fall off the face of the planet again...
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to get rid of SecuRom, NOW on: 2007 October 19, 15:21:59
If anyone knows how I can make the "turn off" method work, or has an idea about how it might be possible, I'd love to hear from you.  I know there are a lot of computer geniuses out there that are so awesome that they can come up with a way to make it work.

Didn't we just go over this whole general idea the other day re: messing with permissions in the registry? The answer is "No". Someone brings out the bunny with the pancake on it's head, malformed idea continues to be brought up, answer doesn't change. Lather, rinse, repeat...
22  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Graphics error? Or... something else? on: 2007 October 19, 03:17:24
This wasn't an issue at all prior to Seasons. BV is hosed in more ways than just coming with the much-undesired SecuRom "feature". I can't imagine what they've done to screw this EP up so badly. Taken their skills in the kludge department to astonishing new levels. Seasons only lagged on me if I did something stupid, like plant a forest on my lot just before Fall.  Grin

I've been tempted to dig out my Sims 1 CD's and load them up, just to see how fast the game zooms on this pc. It's about 5 steps up from the one I had when the game first came out. Supposedly, not adding RAM in matched pairs is a bad idea. Don't know how true that is today, given how far things have come. Could your fan be giving out? Or maybe you need one for the ram itself?

I've been wondering if having everything lumped onto a 240Gb partition might be somewhat unhelpful. My HD is 250Gb and 10 of that is partitioned off for system backup type stuff.
23  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Graphics error? Or... something else? on: 2007 October 19, 02:48:37
1. The game had been running for nearly seven hours by the time this happened (not all of it continuously playing, but it was up and running) so could this be related to the memory leak problem I've read about on other threads?

I have similar problems when I leave my game running for too long. Have you tried leaving the task manager running in the background and periodically alt-tabbing over to see how much memory your game is sucking up at various points during a game session? Mine starts at around ~300,000k or so and the longer I play, the higher that number jumps. Tonight I hit ~600,000k before I quit the game. As much of a pain as it is to quit and restart the game, you're better off doing so after a while so your game doesn't totally lock up and force you to do a hard reboot. I'm currently rebuilding a 'hood that got corrupted for that very reason.
24  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Had constant errors, fixed it I think... on: 2007 October 18, 23:42:45
Meh... it must be one of those days. I loaded the 'hood to move families out of the houses I wanted to prep for packaging and right in the middle of my work the damn power went out! Something does not want me to have anything more to do with this 'hood.  Angry
25  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Had constant errors, fixed it I think... on: 2007 October 18, 18:39:12
I ran disk scan and defrag yesterday morning actuall, for that very reason.

The lock up was entirely my fault. I can tell when my game is starting to slow and going to need a shut-down/re-start but I pushed my luck in this case. Aside from needing moar ramz and something other than onboard graphics to make Sims 2 zoom and be shiny,  my hardware is fine.  I've only ever had to do a hard reboot once or twice in this computers lifetime and in each instance the cause could be traced back to me. Wink
