Title: No Baby Harassment
Post by: akatonbo on 2005 December 08, 17:00:23
Mock me at will; I just want to put in a vote for updating this mod for NL, because my Legacy family now has THREE babies in the house (the founder had kid #2 and then her buddy who I invited in to add cash to the family coffers had alien twins) and everyone in the house except for kid #1, who is immune by virtue of her age, is obsessed with them and keeps dropping their entire queue to go mess with a baby. It's maddening.

How do you control all these sims? Where they sleep? What is the size of the lot? How is it arranged?

If I have more than 4 sims, I lose my head completely...:).

I have two nurseries full of cribs all are occupied a bedroom for each couple ,a bedroom for grandpa and a bedroom for the children Lexie and Tiffany and aBedroom for Jacob who is divorced.the house has two wings with 9 bedroomsnext to the Small nursery with only 3 cribs is Colleen and Seans Bedroom,in the Small nursery,Hayleigh,Rebecca and Denise  use it has a bathroom with a tub and 3 potty chairs attached to it. in the Big nursery are 6 cribs where Jordan,Rachel,Janet,Blade,Ryan andTanya Sleep.in the hallway next to the big nursery are 2 changing tables across from the Big nursery is Lexie and Tiffany's Bedroom with an attached Bathroom they sleep in Bunk Beds. next to Their Bedroom is Val and Justins Bedroom which is directly across from the Small Nursery..in the other Wing is Jacob and Joes bedroom Jacob has an attached Bathroom. across the hall fro Jacob is Josh and Maria's bedroom, and next to them is Rainbow and Jamie's bedroom. attached to Josh' bedroom is a bathroom and down the hall next to the dining room is another Bathroom there is a library, a rec room with darts and a pool table ,a main living room and a play room .the kitchen has 3 refrigerators and 6 highchairs in the dining nook. the dining room table seats 18. I use motive monitors to help the pregnant women and the guys do a lot of constant child care..Toddlers and Babies go to bed at 8:30 p.m.. there are usually 3 or more adults home at any given time. owing to the amount of permaplat's in the house.level 1o is quite common for careers there.I usually have all available adults putting toddlers to bed so its pretty fast that way  and with smart serve the right amount of food gets served.
Bathroomuses you hack is in use in all bathrooms it keeps visitors from bogarting the bathrooms. I also have maid service. the house runs fairly smoothly. I just keep a constant check on needs. I think the lot is 5x4

The truth - I like big families in RL. But in the game I can't control more than 5 sims. I already lost two babies (not lost, the adults just put them on the floor), and discoverred them after few hours, after searching for them all over the house.

Good that the adults took them off the floor autonomously, to feed them, otherwise they could die from hunger...:).

Bangelnuts, does the game run slowly on that lot? The most I have tried is 15 on a lot and 13 were toddlers. I like large families too :D

Babies and toddlers are immune to death in the Sims2 however Im sure the social worker would show up if they were starving

nope it runs rather quickly which is surprising on a lot with that many sims.it takes the lot about 30 seconds to load and another 10 second or so once the hour glass turns into a stationary arrow to actually get into play the lot.

yep I said it. and my lot is definitely overstuffed with 2 children,7 toddlers,2 babies and 10 adult and 5 more babies on the way. Maria is pregnant with 1 baby,Colleen is pregnant with 1 baby,Rainbow is pregnant with 1 baby and Sim Brynne is Pregnant with Twins.so Justin is planning on pcking up his family meaning sim Brynne and his 5 daughters and moving to a 6 bedroom luxury home.Justin has vowed to keep getting you pregnant until he  gets a Boy  :o

I'm thinking I may have to move my sim-me family into a larger house, now, too. As much as I love the one they're in now, I simply cannot cram 8 kids in that bedroom.  I know I definitely cannot move them into the House of Fallen Trees, which is shown in my above pic.  Not even I could do that, I'm sure!

After my NL-induced reinstall I started playing with the no family size limit hack & so far got up to 11 sims on one lot...not much compared to Brynne & Bangelnuts, but feels like a ton of people to me! I'm not sure if its the nice huge house I have them in or the fact that all my graphics settings are on high, but moving the camera around is often a sluggish exercise at best. My PC is way above min spec (3GHz processor, 2GB ram, nVidia 6800 ultra vid card), but I guess I should consider changing some graphics settings to medium instead. Any thoughts on which settings would have the least noticeable effect while still speeding up my game?

I downloaded Witch's Luxury home from Laverwinkle Sims its a 6 bedroom house and that's where Justin,Sim Brynne and the 5 kids are moving. my reason is two fold  the first reason is you two absolutely need more room with 5  girls. the second isto keep Sim Brynne from making another Disastrous move that almost cost Sim Brynne her marriage the first time. Sim you had no sooner put baby Tanya to bed and come back to the rec room when I see an Icon in your Quee with Jamies Pic. I ran My mouse over it to see what sim Brynne was Planning the Icon said Kiss Jamie. with Justin Standing right there!!! I cancelled out the action and sent you to Kiss Justin instead

I dunno My specs are lower than that and  Im not having slow down problems and my settings are on hiigh except for video which is on low  and I have neighborhood decorations off I have a 2.4 GHZ processor and a 1GB of RAM

yes I checked the hearts and neither of you has pink or red heart Flags for each other just 3 bolt chemistry. which Justin has with Rainbow but he doesnt make moves on Rainbow. the only thing you and Jamie share is Friendship!  and I dont have a single xmas decoratin in the house and definitely no Mistletoe!

Hmmm...I don't know why that would happen, then. If there are no romantic flags, I mean. My sim Val has 3 bolts with almost every member of Justin's family (poor poor me LOL) and I've yet to act autonomously like that. Your Justin and Rainbow must be very different from mine. Family and Romance sim combos usually don't produce 3 bolts! And Rainbow is Cancer which is "repelled" by Gemini. My Justin got one lightening bolt for Rainbow once I switched him to Pleasure, but before then they had the crossed out lightening bolt.

I think part of it prolly has to do w/ the packed-ness of the lot. My one huge house, w/ tons of CC and tons of embellishments and deco and aesthetic "clutter", is noticeably slower than my other huge house, which was made by Maxis (you know, that villa-ish house next to the river in Pleasantview?), even though the villa-ish house is, I think, a bit bigger. I dunno if that's the whole story in your case, though.

But I couldn't play w/ all these sims. Once the number goes up to about 6, I get frustrated. I'm way too much of a micromanager to play w/ so many sims.

I tried playing with 10 once and couldn't deal. The whole household was in chaos. I don't know how Bangelnuts and Byrnne manage with all those sims. I now feel like an inferior simmer.  ;) One day I'll try again, and avoid hiring a nanny. That seems to be where I go wrong.

I have No clue why the autonomous actions are occurring. Justin is a Gemini in My Game and a Romance Sim.Rainbow is a Popularity Sim and Pisces in My Game..odd things like this have been occurring for the last couple of Days in my game.Joe had a Dream Date with Kaylynn and every time he went to flirt or whatever else during the Date Tiffany and Lexie  would Start crying and Justin would throw a fit.Joe is single in My Game and other than being in love with half the neighborhood  he isnt attached or committed to any other Sim

Perhaps the packaged-ness of the lot is an issue, but the sheer huge volume of custom content I have in my Downloads folder may be part of the problem as well. I have thousands and thousands of files in there, and even the idea of going through everything to pare it down makes my brain hurt!  :o

I so agree!

One of my sim families has a toddler and 4 babies.  The wife got pregnant the old-fashioned way, the husband was abducted, and they both had sets of twins.  I've been putting off playing that particular house until this gets made NL-friendly.

Please?

As I've had a glut of twins lately - no idea WHY, but my last five births (non-hack, natural Try or Risky conception) have been twins and I'm getting a bit tired of it - I just put the noharrassment back in, as I just couldn't stand them mobbing the kids when they're fine in their cribs! Apart from not being able to talk to the toddlers (so of course everyone rolls up wants to talk and be talked to) and not directly pick them up - it's working okay. Still, I'd love an updated version.

Yeah, I used that for a while, had a couple sets of twins and one of triplets, and I decided I'd rather have the totally unexpectedness of natural twins - I've never really had a problem getting them, unlike some I've seen complaints from. So I take it out and what happens - all twins in a row. The only single ones I had were started with the Insiminator so they never had a chance to be twins anyway. Thankfully it's been broken with a single on the way but I have to wonder if it's chance like the long runs of only boys and only girls is, or something that's hidden.

Yeah, you can get them to pick them up using objects like the highchair or the crib, but I've also noticed that with the old version of the noharrassment in, they just ignore the kids almost entirely. They'll let them out after they've woken up, autonomously, but I haven't seen anyone feed the babies autonomously. Which I suppose is the point, but it also means I have to remember to make them do it at all so the kids aren't taken away...

I never had a problem with that in my game Iused it mostly for new borns which parents cant seem to leave alone when they dont have any needs ie social, fun, hunger, hygiene are all in superb shape. I use insimenztor to make my newborns selectable so I can keep an eye on their needs. I find my self constantly canceling out the parents incessant need to feed a baby that is already full.my last five births were a set of tins and 4 singles. I have 7 sims pregnant and of the 7 two will deliver twins one of those already has a set of twins the other had a single baby with her first husband

Well, considering that the feeding behavior is one of the more obnoxious ones, no surprise there. Isn't it great watching them waste your food supplies trying to forcefeed bottle after bottle to a full baby?

OK, so this is what isn't fair about all this: I have a fairly decent computer, I don't use any of the cheats you all use, and my game went buggy anyway ... what I want to know is, how the hell do you play all those sims in one house without crashing your game?

Do you all have mega computers, or did you sell your souls to the sim devil?  ;D

Just wondering, is all.

As I read at EB Games, the Sim Business will be issued in February 2006. You have whole two months to buy a new computer...:).

Nah. Before my current computer (which is pretty good), I had a fairly cruddy Compaq with an integrated 64MB graphics card that didn't even display mirrors or water. And I could play trailer parks with 30-35 sims without any trouble. That was before NL. NL is great! It makes the sim icons stack horizontally. Used to be you had to right-mouse-click sims or use the space bar to select them because some were hidden beyond the top edge of the screen.

If that's the only conflict with NL then I'm going to install it now and save my sanity. I have a number of households with babies on the way, plus teens and other adults, and I can't take a repeat of the Goth Experience.  Even so, I'd welcome an update as well.

My Goth household has a teen and four adults, and while Simon was still a toddler I, in spiral-eyed, slobbering desperation, placed a SimLogical locking door on the nursery, giving keys only to Simon and his parents.  This kept the pests away from the crib, but they still crouched in the hallway with "harrass youngster" popping in and out of their queues.  Of course, as soon as Simon toddled out of the nursery to get himself to the potty, they pounced.  This once resulted in him pissing himself because I couldn't teleport the pests away from him fast enough -- at least he got bathed when he actually needed it that time.  Cassandra wouldn't even drive to work, the obsessed bitch, because she was intent on feeding or bathing her nephew even though he was full and clean (heaven forbid she'd take him to the potty, his only real need).  The rest were nearly as bad, and I spent most of my time making sure everyone NOT directly involved with child-rearing got their asses to school or work.  Most of the time they wouldn't on their own; now that Simon is a child things are back to normal.

Santa is NOT nice. After I installed Santa my game went kablooey. And all he did was pee, and get trapped in my house.

So I reinstalled sans Santa and had to replay the last two weeks because I wanted to start from my pre-Santa saved game.

My advice is, save a backup before you install Santa. He may work OK for you, I know people who installed the holiday pack just fine, but I'll never install it again.

I plan to return it for a refund.

Babies and toddlers are immune to death in the Sims2 however Im sure the social worker would show up if they were starving
(s)he does. Doesn't that heppen with the child as well?
And Witches; do you kow how long Holiday editino is going to be out for still?
Also, how do you get all those sims? I know there is a way, just my brain seems to have commted suiicide recently.
