They have variable roof heights now. I know tons of houses that would've been gorgeous but for the unfortunate one size fits all roofs. Only thing of note I can think of.

A question about aging:  I created an adult cat in CAS and moved her into one of my existing families.  I played that house from approximately 8 pm through 11 am the next morning.  At that point I got a message indicating that my cat had aged to elder (!)  In less than one Sim day??  How is that possible?  I thought the adult lifespans of cats and dogs were supposed to be roughly equivalent to Sim adults.  Has anybody else seen this?

No Maxis-hearted llama goodies this EP, unless they were hidden and need to be unlocked.

No uni leash pets, but you can, of course, have caged pets.

the adult pet span is suppossed to be 25 sim days  :-\

no llamas

there are wolves that wander around your lot & house; still waiting to get bitten   ;D

Build mode adds: Flatten Lot, Sledgehammer Tool (not sure what that does yet), Diagonal/Octagonal rooms.

Title: Re: Pets EP questions...
Post by: nectere on 2006 October 19, 05:32:00
new stairs, doors windows and a fireplace as well as new fences and a fence like thing to divide flooring (like in most peoples homes when it goes from wood to carpet etc) that doesnt seem to interfere with sims. The other aforementioned diagonal roofs, a diagonal room tool as well as a octogonal room tool, a couple of new colums also. A flatten terrain tool and a sledgehammer tool to delete stuff quicker (?), rotating floors. New stuff in buy mode as well.

Ooh! for a moment I didn't understand what you meant by "rotating floors" and I thought we could have one of those fancy revolving restaurants like they have at the top of Telecoms Tower.

Lol Inge!

I'm still not sure of the true meaning though, does this mean you can off-set floor tiles or does it do away with the diagonal cheat?  Enlighten me please, someone!

Title: Re: Pets EP questions...
Post by: jrd on 2006 October 19, 13:17:47
It means you can rotate individual floor tiles.
So you can for example make the "men" bathroom tile point to the door now.

Speaking of, what is the cheat for rotating furniture on a diagonal? I can never remember it.

Title: Re: Pets EP questions...

boolProp allow45degreeAngleOfRotation true

Thanks. It's going on a stick it note next the monitor when I get home.

Title: Re: Pets EP questions...
Post by: idtaminger on 2006 October 19, 15:58:38
I never could remember that one either. That's why I have it as an alias in userstartup.

Title: Re: Pets EP questions...
Post by: Jelenedra on 2006 October 19, 16:03:03
I dunno how to do those. =p

Title: Re: Pets EP questions...
Post by: Shivani on 2006 October 19, 18:01:24
Go to:  My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Config\

Open userStartup.cheat (if you do not have one, create it as a text file and save with the shown extension).

Add this line:
boolProp allow45DegreeAngleOfRotation true

Save and close the file.

The next time you play, you can just select an object and use the period (full stop) and comma keys to rotate the item.

Examples of adding an alias to userStartup.cheat:

alias snapon "boolProp snapObjectsToGrid true" "Enables snap to grid"
alias snapoff "boolProp snapObjectsToGrid false" "Disables snap to grid"
alias cfeoff "boolProp constrainFloorElevation false" "Disables constrain floor elevation"
alias cfeon "boolProp constrainFloorElevation true" "Enables constrain floor elevation"

That makes sense, the other was just wishful thinking.

I'm going to follow idtaminger's and shivani's advice and put the diagonal cheat in my userstartup - I wanted to know how to do that too, thanks ;)

Title: Re: Pets EP questions...
Post by: Inge on 2006 October 19, 18:22:45
And perhaps it means we can find the floors in objects.package and clone them and UVmap them to have a different colour one side than the other and use them as ceilings...

Title: Re: Pets EP questions...
Post by: nectere on 2006 October 19, 18:23:58
I have seen some people already working in that direction prior to this EP, some glass files come to mind that are double sided.

Title: Re: Pets EP questions...
Post by: Inge on 2006 October 19, 18:28:14
Yes it was Niol who discovered you could see both sides of the floor tile by changing a line in the material file.  But at the moment it has to be the same colour both sides.  What I was hoping is if the floor tiles have actually become objects, it might be possible to manipulate them in more ways for instance to have a white underside and a carpet upper.  Or - and this would be really great - adjust their height in the CRES

The sledgehammer tool is a waste of time.  DeleteAllWalls Half-walls Objects Fences rock, though.  I got rid of an entire furnished house on a lot in under a minute.  That's probably the best Build Mode related feature added.

Title: Re: Pets EP questions...
Post by: KatEnigma on 2006 October 19, 19:03:27
The slegehammer isn't a complete waste. No more switching to look for an invisible painting that's preventing you from deleting a wall (or turning on move objects)- just sledgehammer the whole thing.

Title: Re: Pets EP questions...
Post by: Jelenedra on 2006 October 19, 19:43:57
The aliases just mean that instead of typing out the entire cheat you can just type snapon to activate it?

Title: Re: Pets EP questions...

correct so make your alias (shortcut) something that you will remember and that is easy for you.

you have to be friends with the leader of the pack, and if you get bitten, your a werewolf till one of two things happen:

You buy a cure of the gypsy lady

or

you die.

Can you adopt one of the non leader wolves? That'd be cool for a storyline. You know, the whole boy raised by wolves bit? ;D

Leader of the Pack only shows up at night, as I understand it/  He looks like a big brown dog but has glowing yellow eyes.  He is the *only* wolf with glowing yellow eyes.

I love my aliases.  :D I keep mine simple and to the point. "45" to turn on the 45 angles and "45-" to turn it off, "o" for moveobjects, "o-" to turn it off- you get the picture. Yes, I'm lazy, and I don't care.  ;)

I am sure I saw one of these when I played this morning.  The yellow eyes are quite distinctive and easy to see from a distance.

No, you can't have the leader of the pack join the family but you can do that with a regular wolf.

Question, can a puppy be walked? He keeps peeing by the couch and when I take him outside, he just goes back into the house (same spot) and pees.
I tried to make him pee on the stay-shrubs bush but it didn't work.  :)

edit - and how do you "call-over" a dog so it will come to you?

Title: Re: Pets EP questions...
Post by: Jelenedra on 2006 October 20, 17:13:00
You have to train them. Scold him for going inside. And I don't think you can make them go on anything specifically until you get them housebroken/yardbroken.

And as disgusting as it is, it's almost not worth housebreaking them if you just have to follow them outside and mop up their puddle so you don't get weeds.

Also, taking them on a walk seems to relieve their bladder needs.

I love that the doors can keep pets out.  The bin dogs were put in the Goth house and the were always causing probs in the house so I locked them outside and the cats therefore are locked inside.  Works great!  The womrat(?) appreciates it anyways.  Eventhough it was hilarious to see them jump and squeal.

I love the way the dogs react when Sims serve a meal.  The minute dinner is ready to be put on the table, they start barking and showing pictures of the food in their thought bubbles.  The rest of the family might be completely oblivious to it, but the dogs always notice.  I guess it's that canine sense of smell  :)

That's so realistic. :P My dog can not only identify when I have opened food, but he can even identify the difference between different sounding packages of maybe-food. If I open a bag of FOOD, he comes running. If I open a bag of not-food, no reaction whatsoever.

My cat is even more strange. Although he has never been fed canned-anything in his entire life, he seems to STILL recognize a can opener, even though it is never food and he has no reason to believe a can opener is associated with food. But he comes anyway, even though he surely knows it is not a can of food.

Drop it on the floor for dogs, or anywhere for cats.

Sledgehammer Tool (not sure what that does yet)

The sledgehammer allows you to obliterate objects by hammering them instead of having to pick them up with the hand tool and then delete them. It works in both build and buy modes, on both build and buy objects, regardless of which mode you're presently in. So, for example, you can sledgehammer build objects when in buy mode, and vice versa.

EDIT: fixed grammatical error

well, you'll probably need the 'snapobjectstogrid false' cheat as well, to place things in the correct position.

Title: Re: Pets EP questions...
Post by: Ellatrue on 2006 October 20, 22:08:48
I wouldn't play with it on by default, though, because it can be a real pain with objects you need to snap to the wall, and when placing objects like tables and chairs.

you die.
Dying does not cure being a werewolf. You're still a werewolf, you just also are dead. This may make being a werewolf a moot point, but you're still a werewolf. The status of being dead can be removed independently of being a werewolf.

It also allows you to delete objects that have other things on them. Like a display shelf with 50 things. One click, they all go poof.

I have it in my userstartup.cheat file.  Keep in mind, while you can place stuff at a 45 degree angle, some of the animations don't look right with some objects and sometimes you get whining from sims that they can't use the object. I think there's a list somewhere that says what objects can be placed at angle without whining but I can't remember where I saw it (maybe Snooty Sims?).

2.  No Uni pets?  Really?  That seems like the one place I'd want them.  What Sim fraternity would be complete without a llama tied up out front?

Well I managed to get a cat into my uni.

I used this http://forums.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=197559 - christianlov's pet teleporter. I couldn't find a place to buy it in the Uni hood so I summoned a YA to the main hood and put one in his inventory. Loaded up the uni hood and moved in a cat.

It hasn't blown up my game yet, but the cat does not seem to age. Also the cat cannot get a job and you can't see what commands it has learned although you can still teach them and command them.

Still waiting for the game to go 'splodie. ^_^'

Only single-tile objects can be placed at a 45-degree angle and still be used. This does not include fridges or stoves, because the 'blank' tile in front of them is included in the object's footprint. Only chairs, end-tables, plants, and the like can reasonably be placed at a 45-degree angle, unless they are only for decoration.

Edited for stupidity

I think that's begging, and you should be able to praise or scold it (modifies Eat pet/Sim food learned behavior).

Not correct. Two-tile objects like the big TV, stereo, loveseat/sofa can also be placed at an angle. As can three-tile couches. In fact, if you have a sofa and a TV at an angle directly in front of eachother, Sims will happily watch TV from it.

Just be aware Sims will walk through the objects, and the animations for sitting down are messed up.

Also baths can be used at 45 degree angles. I think i downloaded a house from here and it had a diagonal bath and it worked fine.

I consider that as falling under the category of 'not working properly.'
