16301  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hypnotic memory implantation on: 2005 July 21, 03:47:07
I think they either just ignore it, or go ballistic in some way. This is not entirely clear, as I can't find any reference to it in the code anywhere. That's the problem with the "cheating" memories by default, you can even cheat on people you don't even have a relationship with...like crazy professors.
16302  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's Blocking Their Path? on: 2005 July 21, 03:45:25
You just post 'em right here. And you can force anything to error, it's not important. When I say "force something to error", as opposed to "force a specific thing to error", it means just FORCE AN ERROR SOMEWHERE ON THE LOT.
16303  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's Blocking Their Path? on: 2005 July 21, 03:33:31
No, leave it there. I'll keep looking. We need it as the test case. In the meantime, force something to error and send me the log.

In my neighborhood, the conversational topic of choice is burned food, closely followed by woohoos.
16305  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's Blocking Their Path? on: 2005 July 21, 02:38:14
It's not the fridge itself which is stuck, it's a stucky-fridge tile of some kind.
16306  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Better Use of the SimVac? on: 2005 July 21, 02:36:54
I can only play Uni with Pescado's clock. Otherwise I feel like I am somewhere in the depths of hell. I had that guilt feeling with the Sim Vac, too. I don't ever use it on playable Sims. It just doesn't feel right. I'm a wuss, too. Smiley
I'll use the SimVac on playable sims, but it's generally a very calculated move that doesn't really involve "guilt" at all, like sucking ASP off a permanently platinum sim (who's effectively immune) to top off another sim before going to work, or doing the low-high skill transfer trick, or other shenanigans like that.

It's hot as blazes, but that's nothing new. Fortunately, everything down here is air-conditioned and it's a comfy 72 degrees in my house. But I'll take heat over snow any day. When I can go outside in short sleeves in February you'll all be jealous.  Wink
Pssh. Snow is good. In a few years when global warming causes everything down south to BURST INTO FLAMES from the sheer heat, up here it'll still be quite tolerable. THEN who's going to be laughing, hrm?!? Besides, what's the value in going out in short sleeves? You can be just as comfy going out in FULL BODY ARMOR, when it's cold, and be better protected, too. You should ALWAYS wear body armor!
16307  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Game Assigns Aspiration on: 2005 July 21, 01:57:56
Well, considering that aspiration is shortly going to be less a largely lifelong commitment and more a "flavor of the week" deal with that senso-thingamjigy allegedly coming out with Nightlife....I wonder, will Nightlife have LTWs, and will flipping your aspiration around randomly affect that?
16308  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stay away from that expresso machine! on: 2005 July 21, 01:56:00
We prefer the ceremony of setting the deceased on fire in some particularly impressive way, then getting roaring drunk and having some fistfights.
16309  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxing out sims skills on: 2005 July 21, 01:55:05
Hustling other pool players is neither a particularly profitable nor beneficial activity, since your victims aren't too fond of being hustled. As with anything else, there's only a weak correlation between skill level and actual victory.
16310  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Better Use of the SimVac? on: 2005 July 21, 01:43:17
Warning: SimVaccing for points neither satisfies the "Maximize All Skills" LTW nor creates the relevant maximized-skill memories.

There is, however, other value in strategic simvaccing: If your target has much lower skill than you, the SimVac consider points to be equivalent, even though the cost of a level 8 or 9 point is considerably higher than a level 1 point. So you could intentionally have a no-skill sim repeatedly gain the L1 skillpoint so you can borrow it to increase your high-value points. This is not, however, a really effective way of trying to break the speed record for maximize all skills, since the current speed record is in Childhood and children cannot use the SimVac. Tongue

Do you read the webcomic www.userfriendly.org? Because I think Pitr (a character with a bad Russian accent who wants to take over the world) is your soulmate. He once forced Pepsi and Coca Cola to merge under his leadership and created "Pitr Cola." Ingredients: Caffiene.

Quotes:
"Sleep, she is for the weak."
"If the Giger counter does not click, the coffee, she is just not thick."
No, I haven't read that comic, although the quotes you list remind me suspiciously of Boris. You know, complete with the bad Russian accent. He's the one who provides us with the inspiration for all the Soviet Russia jokes.

And who could forget "alien blood coffee," the freakishly strong caffeinated substance that burned a hole all the way through the building and into the sewage mains below?
Ah, alien blood coffee. That reference has made its way to my acquaintance even without the comic. As a user of purified caffeine myself, though, I can tell you that pure caffeine won't actually burn through things. You need to cut it with thermite for that. Tongue

It is admittedly an amusing thought anyway, and it'd be funny to actually *MAKE* Alien Blood Coffee for The Sims.

Because in Soviet Russia, you do not drink coffee, coffee drinks YOU!
16312  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's Blocking Their Path? on: 2005 July 21, 01:30:58
I added a new command specifically to fix stucky fridges. The original poster has specified that it does not appear to be a kicky bag, so it's a new form of stuck (and fortunately flammable) object.
16313  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stay away from that expresso machine! on: 2005 July 21, 01:29:27
Have to say this - how does that behaviour differ from humans?  Does taking flowers to Mum's grave on a Sunday and saying a couple of prayers actually do anything for a human other than make them feel they're doing their duty?
Well, obviously, not everyone is as awesome as me. My mother was cremated at sea in a rather festive occasion. We would be reminiscing occasionally about her glorious final battle, but I'm the last living member of the family within 15 generations, so that kinda puts a damper on that. We don't do the entire flowers thing in my family. That's simply sentimentally wussy and disgraceful to the memory of a fallen warrior.
16314  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what is an overpopulated neighborhood anyway? on: 2005 July 21, 01:25:23
The problems with overpopulation can be staved off to a much more indefinite period using the "Critical Fixes" available from FFS and Twojeffs. Although having recently been banned from rentech.com, it's now much more difficult to keep up with his work. We've been able to stabilize neighborhoods of over 2000 (garbage) sims. Although if you have THAT many, it points at a deeper root to your trouble.

However, Maxis is slow to learn from its mistakes, and there could be literally tons of lurking 0x85 time bombs in every expansion pack, which won't be clearly known until somebody actually runs into them with a huge bloated neighborhood.
16315  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Identical Twins on: 2005 July 21, 01:22:12
SimMe? JMPescado has a sim of himself? Will you upload that? Please? I have a hack that could use that . . . I made one from your TS2 avatar, but having JMPescado made by JMPescado would be even better.
I try not to publicize sim-mes. It's creepy enough having people create bad imitations of me so they can lock me in 3x3 rooms and watch me pee myself to death. Besides, extracting me again may be difficult, I've been dead for a quite awhile now.
16316  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lobonannies... lobotomized? Nannies leave early. on: 2005 July 21, 01:03:24
Just to be certain: is the lobonanny package supposed to create the .1.package files for nannies?
The what?

Anyway, found the problem. The wrong package had been packed in at some point. It is fixed now. Perform the customary nanny patching operation, or install a baby controller. If one is present, the current broken nanny will function correctly, regardless of what you set it to.

Hey, don't diss my cat. My cat is a lethal killer who can eviscerate you faster than you can blink. DEATH FROM ABOVE!
16318  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: HUZZAH! Banned from Rentech.com! on: 2005 July 21, 01:01:38
The only sin in the MTS2 chat was making the newbies cry.. and I'm not really sure that was a bad thing.
Technically, at last check, I'm still banned from the MTS2 chat for expressing my concern of the suspiciously large number of people being banned. Delphy mysteriously took offense at this and, wonder of wonders, barged into the #grah channel to close it down and ban me from the chat, thus sort of illustrating my point.

He then proceeded to later go ahead and establish the Hall of Shame, which was my idea in the first place, thus lending clarity to why people were being banned. Strangely, I seemed to stumble across fewer people being banned after that....
16319  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: FFS "Batbox" Lot Debugger v2.0: NUCLEAR WAR EDITION on: 2005 July 20, 22:29:47
I am getting an error on mouse over. Am I missing something?
Fixed.
16320  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: HUZZAH! Banned from Rentech.com! on: 2005 July 20, 22:24:23
It doesn't say Pescado is banned on his messages and he still has a green reputation.
Well, sure, if you want to ignore the jarring inconsistencies of A: Not being able to see any of the creator forums, B: Not being able to look at my own user profile, and C: Having now logged out (which fixes A), not being able to log back in. The disposable login I bounced off of Vietnam worked fine, though. Whazzat tell you? It says that not only has Rentech banned me, but Rentech is obviously not proud enough of the act to fess up to it.

Anyhow . . . it sounds like Rentech was annoyed by Pescado's intention to move (if it is true that he was planning to move before this started) and Pescado took it as a personal insult. That's probably farther from what actually happened than Jupiter is from Cygnus 5, but it is the impression I get, so if it's erroneous I'd appreciate someone correcting me.
Are you kidding? I don't take very much as a personal insult. Rentech has started the entire mess. *I* was willing to continue getting along with Rentech, but Rentech appears to be completely unwilling to even consider that. She's obviously willing to cut off her own nose out of spite.
16321  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: HUZZAH! Banned from Rentech.com! on: 2005 July 20, 17:15:25
Oh, a comedian, eh? Smiley
16322  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lobonannies... lobotomized? Nannies leave early. on: 2005 July 20, 17:10:07
Hmmm. That is very curious, given that in the absence of a baby controller, the added code block should be bypassed entirely and function normally. Testing results seem unable to reproduce the outcome. I have no explanation for this behavior at this time, it baffles me. You're certain you have the latest, yes? Older versions had some odd artifacts, which would persist until the nanny's code was replaced, either by replacing the nanny entirely, or replacing the code manually....
16323  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: HUZZAH! Banned from Rentech.com! on: 2005 July 20, 17:06:23
Well, to be honest, damned if I know. The entire MTS2 debacle never went this far. They never actually banned me from the site itself, only the chat channel. The Rentech thing completely baffles me. If you see anything, you tell me. As far as I can tell, Rentech is insane, and maybe MTS2 was right after all.
16324  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Job icons are blank on: 2005 July 20, 16:48:51
I don't think that was part of the design, I think it's just a bug, probably because it's trying to write changes to the character file, not realizing that the character file is your objects.package.
16325  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lobonannies... lobotomized? Nannies leave early. on: 2005 July 20, 16:48:04
Hmm. That's interesting. I'll look into it, but I really don't have a good explanation for the behavior at this time. Does the issue occur even when there is no baby controller present or if the lobotomize option is turned off?
