16351  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Greek Houses - Gah! on: 2005 July 20, 03:08:54
Hmm. I guess I should include a move-out-controller-detonator on the Lot Debugger now that this has been officially identified as a corruption problem.
16352  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hey, can you see my lips moving? on: 2005 July 20, 02:47:40
Well, you gotta keep up to date somehow. Otherwise you won't be able to experience the latest and shiniest stuffeths in the future. Of course, that requires a little bit of improvisation, but hey.
16353  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hey, can you see my lips moving? on: 2005 July 20, 01:58:32
It's a hardcoded engine problem. All the animations are actually there and being invoked by the BHAV codes, so that's functioning correctly, but the engine is not rendering them properly. Nothing can be done about this from here. You'll have to buy the patch from Maxis yourself if you want this one fixed.
16354  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Game Assigns Aspiration on: 2005 July 19, 21:06:40
Yes, but then you limp along with only 4 want slots and 1 lock, which simply isn't adequate with the amount of spam Maxis tends to stuff down your throat. And this will only get worse with each expansion pack as they give you an ever more annoying series of stupid stuff to want.
16355  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anyone cracked the Infuence to Clean bug that uses up all the Uni food? on: 2005 July 19, 21:05:25
I think the idea is to keep there from being rotting food lying around all night so your dorm becomes infested with puking dormies. Thus, the food is preemptively disposed of because it would go bad overnight.
16356  Awesomeware / Playsets & Toys / Re: Ghost Buster - Anti Ghost Device on: 2005 July 19, 20:57:02
The Ghostbuster works particularly well with Mausoleums, since if the ghost manages to escape by spawning outside of it, when it runs into a Ghostbuster, it will get zapped back to the mausoleum.
16357  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Game Assigns Aspiration on: 2005 July 19, 20:41:01
I don't think that hard about aspiration: I just go and pick "Knowledge" pretty much every time. Maybe Popularity.

I mean, think about it:
You have 5 possible choices: Knowledge, Popularity, Fortune, Romance, and Family.

Now we can start eliminating them, based on the fact that this is not our final answer, and we're going to get to change it at Uni.

Fortune: Let's see. You're an unemployed kid with no real earning potential. You're not going to *HAVE* any real earning potential until you graduate. Scratch that.
Romance: Teens don't get any. Sorry.
Family: Ain't gonna happen until post-graduation. No biscuit.

So what does that leave you? Knowledge, if you want to try to get the early platinum from Maximize All Skills, and Popularity, because that's the only aspiration that actually functions in Uni. Not a lot of choices here.
16358  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stay away from that expresso machine! on: 2005 July 19, 20:36:49
I don't like Power Idle, it makes Sims boring. If they'd pick up books in PI at least they'd be doing something useful (in combination with Inge's learning skills mod).
Power Idle isn't about doing something useful. Power Idle is about keeping green and out of your hair while waiting for orders. If you want them to do something USEFUL, tell them to Skillinate. Smiley
16359  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Crap....I just made a huge mistake on: 2005 July 19, 20:34:49
Did you put the lot BACK into the neighborhood? If you didn't put it back, the damage is minimized, but if you did, you hosed your neighborhood.
16360  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anyone cracked the Infuence to Clean bug that uses up all the Uni food? on: 2005 July 19, 20:33:40
I recommend getting "Less Whiny". It gets rid of the pointless whining.
16361  Awesomeware / Playsets & Toys / Re: Ghost Buster - Anti Ghost Device on: 2005 July 19, 13:06:20
You only get the meter. Points are unaffected. Plus, the SimVac itself is pretty expensive already! Its primary function is more a torture device than a purposeful thing.
16362  Awesomeware / Playsets & Toys / Re: Ghost Buster - Anti Ghost Device on: 2005 July 19, 12:45:23
Nope, 'fraid not. ASP aren't really a kind of currency that you trade with.
16363  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stay away from that expresso machine! on: 2005 July 19, 12:44:50
Using Authorized Personnel Only's "Deny Autonomous" option is also rather handy if you care that much.

As for free will on or off, while I don't like having to babysit, it sure as hell beats constantly going, "NO! NO! NO!". Then we have Macrotastic Power Idle, which gives you better effectiveness than Free Will *AND* less annoying stupidity.
16364  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Other Games? on: 2005 July 19, 12:37:22
See, you really need to get used to the entire blood and entrails thing. Once you're used to the idea, it's actually quite viscerally satisfying and enjoyable. Try it sometime: bathe in their blood and wade in their entrails!
16365  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stay away from that expresso machine! on: 2005 July 19, 12:35:01
Look, man, it's getting really old to track down every single form of stupid sim behavior. You really just need to exert some more control. If it's not a problem which causes visitors to do stupid stuff, it's not worth trying to resolve anymore. The autonomy system is simply irreversibly flawed and broken. Also, why are you sims running out of fuel that early anyway?
16366  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The case of the disappearing simoleons on: 2005 July 19, 12:30:48
I think it'd be funny if your lot could become so overgrown that sims navigate it with a machete.
16367  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Other Games? on: 2005 July 19, 12:29:25
Pah. You do know that RPGs are a derivative of wargames, which are not at all pacifistic or peaceful, right? I think you're just happier when people die as abstract icons on a tactical map, rather than screaming, bleeding heaps of mangled meat in front of you. Like the saying goes, "Kill one, and it is a tragedy. Kill millions, and it is a statistic."
16368  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Factoids and Statistics on Skill Gaining on: 2005 July 19, 12:15:34
The Biotech station is automatically used by the Skillinator if you have an Instructor, providing you meet all the prerequisites for safe usage. This generally requires that your sim have platinum mood and be very clean. If you do not meet the prerequisites for usage, it will not be attempted since it may kill your sim. It will only be attempted solo if all other possible skill options are exhausted, as the Biotech station is the worst solo logic skilling item in the game.
16369  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what is an overpopulated neighborhood anyway? on: 2005 July 19, 12:06:59
Yes, they still count. Unfortunately, moving things to the bin and deleting them has zero useful effect. It is purposeless to delete sims, since they will simply be hidden from view, not actually truly wiped. And if your Pleasantview had *1400* sims, you are well into the danger zone and probably have irreparable damage to your neighborhood files.
16370  Awesomeware / Playsets & Toys / Re: Ghost Buster - Anti Ghost Device on: 2005 July 19, 11:27:30
In theory, yes. It's a standalone object with no overrides.
16371  Awesomeware / Playsets & Toys / Ghost Buster - Anti Ghost Device (07/21/05) on: 2005 July 19, 09:43:02
Well, here's a handy anti-ghost device for keeping annoying ghosts out of specific areas. I finally had enough ghosts to appearing to actually test and finish it.

16372  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what is an overpopulated neighborhood anyway? on: 2005 July 19, 08:50:00
No, the character file is still there, albeit in a reduced format. As for "Sophie", that's mostly just due to name repetition. Often the same name will repeat itself multiple times in your neighborhood. I have 5 or 6 Marylena Hamiltons. I'm going to have to start feeding them to the cow plant.
16373  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Fortune Sim Wanting to Quit Work? on: 2005 July 19, 06:29:10
The painting has to sell for more than $500 to be a masterpiece painting. Note that the want only stipulates selling it, there isn't really a creator attribution, unlike with novels, which gets completely messed up without No Plagiarism, since the novel actually identifies the author.
16374  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Secret chat room? on: 2005 July 19, 06:03:12
Err, nothing. I do notice you're using the rentech.com CGI IRC, though. I think it's not so much a question of what I did to offend you as it is of what I did to offend Rentech. Smiley
16375  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Pool Hack - Anti-Pool Obsession And More! on: 2005 July 19, 06:00:51
Yeah, especially when you consider that using the pool is basically entirely useless for visitors: They won't really gain skills off it ANYWAY, not that the pool was ever good for this, and as there is no way to gain any relationship out of the pool, it undermines the point of them visiting at all.
