Where can I find decent starter homes?
« on: 2006 July 09, 02:58:23 »
THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Well, the title is pretty straight forward. I've already googled Starter Homes, and I only found a few. I want enough to fill up an entire neighbourhood-- mainly starter, but also medium sized houses, and a few larger ones. I got that new tenant and landlord mod, so that is where all this is coming from. ^__^;

Thanks for your help. <3

The 'Newbie Road' series at MTS2 contains over 100 good starter homes.

Plasticbox is great - and Wolfsim68 on MTS2 has a "stone collection" that's really good too.

LOL, I'm doing exactly the same thing for exactly the same reason.  I'm using the Stone Collection (as recommended by JadeEliott and I really like those, they look good in close-up neighbourhood view because they all sort of match.  I have alternate colours in the residential area and the same colours for my public buildings and another colour for the local shops (all part of the same collection).  Haven't got the Downtown & Business areas done yet, but they'll follow a similar pattern.  I'm using the tiny neighbourhood terrains Jade also mentioned and they're just right for these little houses.  I chose the one with the bridges - I have one section for the starter homes and a couple of slightly dearer ones, another section for the Mayor, Captain Hero and the local vicar (who will look after the cemetery), another for the local shops & amenities (food store, park, hairdressers, kitchen supplies, plumbing, cafe, etc.) and the final section has the police station, hospital, courthouse and a hotel (which will no doubt become the local brothel in time).  The other businesses and amenties will go in the business and downtown neighbourhoods, where some sims will also live.

Oh I don't have any more room for The Stone Collection!  I was kind of relieved a little bit so I could set up my neighbourhood full of those lots without worrying about where I would fit more!

I did a whole set of starter homes and matching community lots designed to look interesting on the neighbourhood map.  The other design criteria were play well and load fast.   Simmeical used quite a lot in Matyville - the bit with water and willow trees.  She made them look better than I did of course.  They are on TSR - all maxis content from base game only, on 3x2 lots.  PM me if you like them and can't get them free off TSR this week.  I wouldn't say they were great, but they've been downloaded a lot and I like them. Wink

I think this is a pic of the 'hood screen... http://www.thesimsresource.com/screenshots/view.php?id=29391

Sick of Bluewater?  Try Sedona or Meadow Lawns instead.  Meadow Lawns is a whole neighbourhood built to explore OFB.  Sedona is a sub'hood you can install as a permanent alternative to Bluewater - it's an "out of this world" experience!  www.moreawesomethanyou.com/cwykes

I'll toss in a vote for Emma's starter houses -- I have pretty much every one of them somewhere in my game:
