Can someone help me please, before the new patch and expansion, I used to install the store stuff directly from the launcher. But now, that I installed the new patches and the expansion, when i try to install the stuff from the store, it gives me succes 100% in 1 second for every items even the big ones, and they are not checked like the others items that ive installed before. So they give me success but arent integrated to the game. Thx for the help Smiley

I see you have also asked your question in the correct thread. http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,16949.0.html

I suggest you read through the FAQ as well.

 Cheesy

Seriously, Miss witch, thank you so very much for this and the instructions.... ESPECIALLY the instructions.

You're a doll!

Anywhoo,  the files work just fine, there seems to be no change in loading/saving.  I do think the CAS works much better.  At first, when the Store items were in their original format everything loaded very slowly, but now they are already loaded in the inventory and things move around more fluidly.

I have a Vista 32-bit OS & I put the files in the <PCname>/Documents/EA/Sims 3/DCCache folder  and the Mods/Packages folder. That seems to work for me.

Witch, you are AMAZING!  Grin I have been missing my store items.

Sadly, I noticed that the Jet Set Teen and Adult sets are missing.  Cry Too bad considering they are my favorite clothing set, but I can do without.

This is also good for people with lower patches who'd rather avoid the .sims3pack format. Maybe I was doing something wrong, but installing all those files always took forever!

Well, I am officially stupid. No matter what I do, I cannot get this to work.

With the base WA, I tried to put the .dbc files into the stated folder (C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\DCCache), but it didn't exist. So I created a new folder called DCCache and put them in there.

I also put them in C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages\DCCache, as that is where I have AM and AMConf installed to. Resource.cfg is in there as well. I would have put them all in my WA Files, but the game would not start when I did so.

The game wouldn't run after all of these changes, stating that the Base and Expansion were not of compatible versions, so I updated to 2.3 and the game opened, but there are none of the wonderful store items inside.

I can't figure out what I've done wrong. I'm running an Arr'ed WA and a legal copy of TS3, if that makes any difference.

Your resource.cfg file should look like this.

Priority 500
DirectoryFiles Mods/Packages/... autoupdate
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*.package
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*.package
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*.dbc
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*.dbc

The resource file lives in the C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 as that is where you have your framework.

OR

Pescado has come up with a better way.
Put this line in your resource.cfg instead:

PackedFile ../../../Users/YourName/DOCUME~1/ELECTR~1/THESIM~1/DCCache/*.dbc

You don't need to keep the .dbc files in two places, just in C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages\DCCache

Excuse my ineptitude, but how exactly does this work? Do I need to modify my Resource.cfg file to make it recognize the files? I also would like to know what folder I need to place these in, and whether or not EA's little Store Mode malarkey will get in the way. Thank you.

EDIT: Oh I'm an idiot, didn't even see the second page of the thread. I'm going to test this out later today and see if it works.

I tried all of that, and still only ended up with:

No loading, no sound. Nothing. I don't know how I'm messing this up as badly as I am...

Edit: Still no fix, but I've discovered that the game only loads after I remove resource.cfg. Without any content mind you, but it seems to be the only time the game will load...

Hey witch - can you tell me how to create the Riverview.world file?

I've tried a couple of different ways, without any success.

Thanks!

No. I have no idea why you cannot save your game.

Something sounds borked, if that's the case.

There is a Riverview.world download link in the first post.

Sheesh.

Witch, not to be a bother, but for some reason I simply can't get to Pirate Bay no matter how many links and whatever I try. Could you possibly track the torrent someplace like Demonoid as well? I can get you a Demonoid invite if necessary.

Maybe I could. I could include the .world file for Riverview and use the newer version of the config file. It's also past the end of the month, so I can go a bit loose with data again. I pay $1 per 1GB and last month I did 60GB*. (Not on this torrent of course, I only seeded to about 5GB).

I'm just completing the format of my torrenting machine, I can't get the bloody remote desktop to work again, then it's going back to the spare room. So, long story short, I will probably put this on Demonoid tomorrow - approx 36 hours after this post.

Oh and I don't need an invite, thanks for the offer.

* Ouch, it was 76GB actually, I thought I'd better have a look.

Witch, you are AMAZING!  Grin I have been missing my store items.

Sadly, I noticed that the Jet Set Teen and Adult sets are missing.  Cry Too bad considering they are my favorite clothing set, but I can do without.

Are you sure? I don't want to double-up on anything. I'm about to make another torrent for Demonoid, so I could add these if they are not there. Could anyone else confirm?

EDIT: I checked, you're right. I have added Jetset teens and Jetset adults.

Anybody else notice anything else missing before I create a new torrent?

Edited to merge two posts.

I'm trying to understand how to install this, I read the txt file and it mentions a framework. Do I need to have this framework installed in order for this to work?
Also if I copy these files to my \My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\DCCache folder will they replace my current files?  Does that mean I will lose all the other .sim3pack cc that I already have installed?

thanks

I think this is what happens when you lack the .dll in the WA tree.

Yes, as it says in the attached readme. Attached, I might add, to both the first post in this thread and to the torrent itself.

Yes, as also stated in the aforementioned readme.

Go to the awesomemod download thread, get the mod and framework going, test it, then come back and read this new list of instructions. I've tried to make them slightly easier and they only require one copy of the .dbc files. Can't get it going yet, stick to the old instructions. But get Awesomemod going first.

I think this is what happens when you lack the .dll in the WA tree.

Look, stop bloody cringing!  Roll Eyes

Baarogue means you need the d3dx9_31.dll file in two places.
C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin
C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 World Adventures\Game\Bin

Edit: I have removed the config file with Ye Olde Dosse redirect. I can't get it working on my PC yet, so I'm going back to the copies of the .dbc files in the framework.

Google "show known file extensions" and follow the instructions for your OS.

Edit what will probably then show as "resource.cfg.txt" (or possibly "resource.txt") to be named just "resource.cfg"

Hey, I don't have it in two places...
I'm guessing it was something missing from the torrent.

Would I be able to copy the file from my TS3 Bin to the WA one, or are they different?

They're both the same Innuendo.  Smiley

But, I don't have the DCCache folder in my Mods>Packages folder. Am I missing something here? It's been like this the whole time I've had the game. I have awesomemod and Delphy's Install Helper, so I have the framework and the Mods folder set up right. Do I have to manually put in the DCCache folder myself?

Thanks,
