Where do dead babies/toddlers go?

Roflganger:
To clarify my post, the game does randomly poof people.  My speculation is that this is what happened with the baby in your game.  It didn't really die, it got deleted and the game basically tells you to pretend it died.

GnatGoSplat:
I think the babies did die before they got poofed though.  He does have a "poofed" kid, when that household moved away.  That kid still shows up in his family tree in color, but just never ages and no death notice.  The others are B&W and did have a death notice in the paper.  The result is the same, they're gone without a trace, but there is a difference in the family tree - color vs. B&W. :)

I had thought about having him resurrect one of his dead babies at the science building, but apparently only "loved ones" show up in Manage Graves.

BastDawn:
You need the Awesomemod to prevent random shit like that.

OpiumGirl:
Wow, that's surprising that they would kill off babies and toddlers....I wonder if it's a glitch.  Since when did Maxis break the bounds of what is *acceptable* for realism's sake?  I only say that because it's always been off-limits to kill them in all of the games.
Will the game actually kill your own custom Sims or does Story Mode only work on Townies/NPCs? Does it draw the sims you've made and added into the town into the whole progression and, say, marry them off, etc? I haven't played Story Mode yet but it's starting to sound interesting.  :P

Looks as though the answer to my above question is yes....the game WILL chew your custom families and spit them out in a poorly thought out, non-interesting, though highly annoying, manner.

GnatGoSplat:
No idea if it's a glitch, but babies definitely can croak in Sims 3!  I don't know if they can die in the active household though.  I think the game doesn't make any distinction between custom Sims and pre-made Sims.  They all live in a house like any other.  I can't say for sure, but I've lost a ton of the pre-made Sims due to "moving away" and the game moves even uglier townies in to replace them.  I've only made 2 custom Sims so far, but I don't think there's any difference to the game whether I made a Sim or if they were pre-made in the family bin, but I HAVE put all the Sims from the family bin into my town, and all but 2 have moved away!

I know the Awesomemod is obviously awesome, but for now I'm enjoying playing the game as EA intended with all its unpredictability.  None of the pre-made Sims are good looking enough that really care what happens to them anyway. :)
I might have a different attitude if I start populating the town with Sims I created and spent hours making their faces.
