Cosy Lane Real Estate - 1x1 lots
« on: 2009 February 03, 23:15:19 »
THANKS THIS IS GREAT

I've been working small lately. I downloaded some 1x? lots, here, and I've been playing around with the 1x1s.

To start with, I'll post three 1x1 residential lots. (I also have a 1x2 apartment lot and two 1x1 community lots.)

Compatibility note: I have everything except TSS, Ikea, and M&G. CC not included.

1 Cosy Lane (Price: $18,390)

You want LotAdjuster. Trust me. Using it, you can go to a one square buffer. I'm really fond of 3xX blocks, but not so much of 3xX lots.

I'll look into that, but the tutorial there doesn't say how to unlock the extra tiles. I'm assuming that occurs when a lot's size is changed? Also, is that something I'll have to do for every lot, or can I just make a template lot, and build from that?

What I do for a 1x1 with a one-space buffer is start with a 2 deep, 3 wide. Mark off the area you'll be shrinking out later (so a 10-wide border). Build up to one space to the edge. You can also place walls perpendicularly to the edge, so as to make several lots that seem to interlock. Save. Exit game. Load LotAdjuster. Pick your neighborhood, subneighborhood, then lot. Then click the Advanced button and choose to enable shrinking. Adjust the sides you want to shrink down. Go back into the game and make a small change to the lot. Save.

You do have to do it for each lot, this is true. But what I do is build a bunch at the same time, then shrink them all.

I love them all, but the greenhouse one is especially awesome.  It'd be perfect for a plantsim since they don't need much anyway. I often find that regular sized houses are too big for a single plantsim.

I'll look into the lot adjuster thing, but the excess space doesn't really bother me. I'd be too concerned that I'd build the lot in the wrong place and cut half the lot off if I tried to shrink it. Heh.

As for the greenhouse, I actually built it with plantsims in mind, which is why the lot is packed with those garden lights.

And the house on stilts was made because I was missing Darwin in this heatwave. Though I'm not sure why I made it so dark. I never do dark.

I don't mind how you've already done it Faizah...I never use the lot adjuster for shrinking lots, just for flattening them Cheesy

I guessed that.  Grin I thought it was a good idea.

I tried a plantsim house when they first came out but I had the ceilings upstairs made of the glasshouse roof and the damn plantsims still thought they weren't getting any sun. Seemed illogical to me.

Okay, I tried the lot adjuster thing, and it was a lot easier than it looked. This is what I did with it:

Oh, I don't either! I snagged the convenience store. I recently cleaned out my lot catalog after backing it up. I'd had a little 1x1 shop, needed it again, but I can't find my stick drive. It's in an organizer, but it's taped up. This is my life right now.

I just thought Faizah would have fun playing with it.

These are excellent.  Will snag the greenhouse/plantsim house (since I want to experiment with plantsims sometime soon), and the tinkering car/gearhead house.  I also need a nice little apartment block (since I get carried away in my builds) and yours is remarkably attractive.

A heads up here, the octagonal roof bleeds over the single bed a bit, but my test sim had no problem relaxing on it, it seems it's purely graphical.

Oooh, I love these new lots too, especially #12 (red brick) and the swimming pool comm lot! I've added them all to the area in my 'hood reserved for 1x1s.
