Yes the Helier's Street lamp is pitiful in comparison to the others in the game.

It's using the weakest outdoor light profile Seven which is good for fence lights but pole lights should use Ten or Eleven.

Those double windows in the 'Second Empire' themed set don't let any light in either. Sucky.

There is a typo in the window name (windowTwoTileEmpiren_0_1S_0_S_light) where the n after Empire needs to be removed in the EP9lights.nlo that caused the window to only light one side. The streetlights can be fixed by changing Seven(lightingStreetDeco_light) to Ten(lightingStreetDeco_light)

No, the EP9Lights.nlo is in:
The Sims 2 Mansion and Garden Stuff\TSData\Res\Lights

Why is it titled EP9?

Notepad, or any text editor of your choice.

Why is it titled EP9?
This pack is more like a mini EP, adding new cheats and new animations, e.g. sniffing the flowers. It's built on the latest EP engine like FFS or GLS.
Thanks for the information on how to fix b0rked lights.

So, if it's more like an EP, does that affect the validity of mods/hacks?  Or does it not affect it the same way a true EP does?

Is this a folder under Progam Files/EAgames, like all the others?

If not something is seriously borked.  I just searched Mansions and couldn't find a folder that said that or EP9.

And, since someone will ask, no I am not now nor have I ever used the no-CD patch.

It's a file in the TSData/Res/Lights (or Lighting) directory under the game directory in Program Files.

It's based on the AL engine, apparently, and so far I haven't seen any reports of any problems with AL-compatible hacks in M&G.

The only thing I've taken out was the Perfect Plants by TJ because it is the only hack I could think of that might be borked by the new EP/SP/Whateveritis. I bet it does still work though, I just haven't tested it yet.

I forgot to take it out, but I haven't had any problems.

The only very minor hack problem I have had is with uni_ltws_sns.package.  Unnamed wantable wants are back, but they all seem to be solar panel/windmill related.  It doesn't break anything, it just forces you to guess what it is your sim desires.

Pescado will fix that soon, I guess. I haven't seen those wants yet, so didn't know anything was borked.

Definitely works, and no issues with the new plants. I added a bunch to a home and over four days none needed watering. That's good...I overlap my plants so much that in some places there are four different plots of flowers in the same spot.

Excellent. I do that too, so expecting my sims to water their own plants is a bit too much. Cheers for the info!

I actually had the opposite problem -- I went into Strangetown to test M&G, and all my plants were overgrown and/or weedy. And my sims didn't have any option to garden (it was winter or early spring, so that may have been the bork). I thought it was Perfect Plants causing a problem, only to find out I hadn't put it back in after installing AL.  I did, and now all my plants are fine.

Would making an alteration to the lighting file also be able to fix this issue:

The square base game window is dark on the outside and lit on the inside. That's the wrong way around compared to every other window. I only noticed it after installing AL. I don't have M&G yet.

There be no EP9 in the future then.

The object is a window from the base game. The object itself needs to be edited so it will light on the correct side. Editing the lighting file will not fix this. Round House Window from M&G is also affected by this.
