Me too for some reason my system won't let me update the exe.I have to rely on the kindness of strangers to upload a fixed exe.
Crash:
I could patch the .exe fine, and I have Vista. At least there is no portrait regeneration in my game.

The M&G link in the post immediately above yours works just fine. I just downloaded it and extracted the EXE without any problem.
At that point, you just backup your old Sims2EP9.exe (rename it to Sims2EP9.bkp), and add the new EXE to that folder. You'll be using the new EXE to run the game.
If you are using the launcher to run the game, you'll have to fix your shortcut to run directly from the game EXE instead. Here are some instructions on how to do that:

Ok, now it is for real. The filelink that Crash placed no longer works. Mediafire seems to have removed the file. Anyway to make a new link, because I need it again (lost it, pc automatically removed it thinking it was a virus or something).
