Problems with internal split level foundation
« on: 2007 November 01, 11:04:24 »
THANKS THIS IS GREAT

I recently have realized that I cant use the internal split level foundation anymore. Probably since I installed BV. Anyone else having this problem? Can it be a hack conflict? Or a BV bug? Something the patch will fix, maybe?
When I try to place it I can't, and the message is that it cant be placed where there are fences - even if I have no fences at all on the lot, lol.

I found the guilty files - recolors of the greenhouse walls. Pity, more colors of those are much needed. But now they are thrown out.

I use the split level foundations for stairs quite a bit, so it's nice to know about the recolors (although I rarely use recolors).

Has anyone been able to figure out how to fix that wonkiness with connecting a fence/divider on the lower level to an interior stage? The end of the fence/divider "jumps" up and looks ridiculous. I can get it to go away if I use the mallet on the connecting interior stage and then undo, but upon reload it appears again.

I always put walls around the stage, so the only bug I see is the pointer in build mode.

Re: bunny

Yeah, it's hard to explain. Here's pictoral proof:

See, I like using fences with shortened roofs. Especially for townhouses and adobes, the interior stage is quick, just the right height, and can be added on middle floors for lots of architectural features. But interior foundation plus fence/divider = crappy shit sticking out like a sore thumb. I did my brownstones by shortening walls because it worked, but it took extra effort, and this makes me cranky.

It's annoyed me too, but I don't build much with stages.

That guy wearing the caftan and the glasses holding the HUGE rabbit (it doesn't seem right calling anything that big a "bunny") -- I don't want him coming anywhere near my kids.  I swear, he looks like one of those guys on Dateline Predator.  "Chris Hanson!  Again???  Aw shit!"

Zazazu,

The OFB stage will just raise any fence post up by adding its height to them. The original intention might have been for fences to match on the stage.

If you want the fence post to disappear,

1. use invisible wall
--1. invisible wall windows by Numenor,
http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=70222
--2. unlocked invisible wall from column deck in the wall.txt, http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=106473
--3. invisible fence recolour with its post taller than the one you're connecting to the stage [yeah, higher fence post will override the lower one and wall "post" is the tallest regardless of its graphical presentation])

2. mod the fence post layer file in the lot package file

*smacks self* Why didn't I think of that? I have full-coverage windows with "empty" recolors.
