Is there a way to fix a piece of under water road?
« on: 2006 October 31, 18:34:49 »
THANKS THIS IS GREAT

I've worked on this damn neighborhood all day yesterday. Today, I was about to start on the richer part of town and I set a house down...that obviously didn't have level terrain...and it made the sewage pipes burst. Is there a way to fix this or do I now have to make this the really slummy part of town?

I hope i don't sound sarcastic, but have you tried putting a different house in, that you know has level terrain?  I do remember doing that once in the past in a Neighborhood of mine.  The first house raised the road, putting in a different house, lowered it back.

Yes, I already tried that. I can only put a house 1 space away from that road and the water on all sides. Does anyone know about editing the neighborhood script...maybe to be able to put houses on sunken terrain?

Keep trying!  Thera described the same problem over on the Hullabaloo, and this was her final comment:

fixed it!!!

managed to slide an ity bity lot between "gap" and the street above, which straightened it all out

I guess she means put lots on the cross street...

Thanks! I grabbed a 1x1 lot from MTS2 and inched it over little-by-little. It worked and looks good. Grin

I downloaded this one...http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=200146 by nengi, but in order to be able to build your own from scratch, you need this, I think...http://www.modthesims2.com/member.php?u=32091

Just thought I'd share this....

A while back I somehow managed to drop a lot right in the middle of a road and this was the result...

I managed to delete the lot I dropped there by panning right out with the camera mod so I could just click it at the bottom of that black bar.

I think the hole in the road makes an interesting feature so I'm leaving it there. Tongue

You need little barricades and "bridge out" signs...

Yours looks good, like it was meant to be there...mine looked like a pipe burst. I thought about making it look like a pond, but cars kept driving through it and it started annoying me.

How did you manage to drop a lot in the middle of a road? And does that look like a pond in lot view? Cuz that'd be cool for country houses and the like.

What I want to know is how you dropped the road that far down?

The cars would annoy me too much to leave that pond there, but I'm a perfectionist when it comes to these types of things... Undecided

I went to place the lot, and it moved and ended up there.  Must've twitched the cursor as I clicked. (I was using a graphics tablet at the time.) And yes, it does look like a pond in lot view.

Yes, the taxi drove over the hole - I only managed to catch the shot as it was disintegrating though. XD

No idea, I guess it went like that as it was an illegal place to drop the lot. I haven't even tried to replicate the glitch to find out if it would happen again.

hehe - I might just do that.

Take a look in The War Room section of this board.  There's a thread on "Neighbourhood Terrain Surgery".

By following the instructions in that topic you can replace the damaged terrain with an undamaged version of it.

If there's room, couldn't you just put a bridge over the hole?

Oh no.  I know they have them down around Branson, MO.  And I think I've heard of them at some other touristy locations.

Isn't Missouri landlocked?  Huh I can't imagine what one'd be touring. The local lake?

The Mississippi runs down the east border and the Missouri forms part of the southern border.  Lots of water in Missouri!

They have those in Wisconsin, too. I rode on one once when I was visiting Wisconsin Dells.
