Well, I suppose it makes sense for sims to have them on the wall, otherwise they'd be hard to spot - as it is I always forget most of the Maxis houses don't have them!

Unless they keep them visible like they do ceiling lamps...

But if you use Inge's thingy for hiding ceiling lights, it might hide them too!

I always put the fire alarm above the fridge...I never notice the burglar alarm being ugly, its usually right inside the front door (and any other door). You can always use move objects and place a picture over it I suppose.

Moveobjects doesn't always work, I think you need snap ObjectstoGrid false as well.

I quite often put my fire alarm over the cooker, but have a window there too, so it sort of sits in the window frame.  (If it's not over the cooker, I'd forget where I put it and keep putting new ones in!

I wouldn't care if you couldn't see the fire alarm. I either install one or don't. If I forget, I won't realize it until there is an actual fire. It would be nice to make that hideaous thing hideable.

Well, I don't mind when Angela gets burninated, but I'd hate to see it happen to one of my sims, so I always put one in when I build a house.  Most of the Maxis empty houses seem to have them it's the ones with sims actually living in them that don't happen - it's as though they intended fatal fires to happen when newbies to the game start to play!  (And it's a game about life, not death!  Tell that to the tooth fairy!)

Oh yeah, I forgot about that! Needless to say, I have never used it...well, with this hack installed I might just have to start in order to give my little simmies a fighting chance. I'm worried that the fireman will get consumed too.
The firefighter is immune to fires while on the job. Maybe I should add a barrel of gasoline to the game, that will cause aforementioned super-fire if it should catch fire. Or the ever-popular exploding barrel of green goo.

Gasoline please! Cheesy

My RL smoke alarm goes off every time I cook - wonder what that says?

Yeah, she can stop BURNING THE FOOD. I bet it comes out all black and brown, like charcoal. Probably doesn't even bleed anymore.

SACRILEGE! Steak should be seared almost black on the outside and purple red raw inside. YUM!

I prefer my steaks to be still entirely purple, warm, and dripping with blood. Preferrably with the dead cow still present.

One thing I'd like to see with the fire alarms is to make them ceiling-mountable.  I can't recall the last time I was in a RL house where they had the thing on the wall.

Targa made one, it's on MTS2: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=95682

I use it all the time - works perfectly, and much more true to life.  Smiley

After another fire was started in the new house I moved them into, this time with a fire alarm, the fire only got the stove and counter next to it. The fireman did a good job. I am beginning to think that this family is fated to die, but we'll see how long I can help them cheat death. Another thing, I recall my sims used to carry the children to safety, but these must be bad parents because they didn't think twice about the kid!

Thanks for the link fairestrachel.

I've noticed this too, and I think it may have been left out with OFB.  At one time (Base Game only) I used to click on my sims and send them to Watch Clouds when there was a fire, but not any more!  (Stopped them all rushing for the bathroom at once, too!)

I don't think you needed the fire alarm alone, you needed the extinguisher!

I had just the extinguisher installed in one of my houses and they had a fire which ended when the kitchen flooded from the sprinkler - the sim's wants re-rolled and he asked for an alarm to be fitted!
Those sprinklers are ceiling mounted and tend to disappear like light fittings

sort of related topic - I think my new neighbours (irl) are sims  Undecided  because they had a bonfire going continuously for 3 days and nights (invited the whole family over to stand around throwing dubious items onto the pyre) and they have set fire to the kitchen twice in a week!  The first time I called the fire brigade because it looked like it could easily spread quickly - the chav guy had burned his hand trying to put out the flames by waving a cloth over them and had to go to hospital.  The next time I asked if I should call the FB and the chav said no he had it under control and used a half kettle of water to try and put it out.  Whe I saw the flames die down and flare back higher behind him I just hit the *send* button on the phone lol
btw they were *decorating* the kitchen so there were turps, paint and all sorts in there  Roll Eyes

Sorry ZZ I thought anyone from the UK would know.

Chavs are (usually) young, loud-mouthed, ignorami who wear a lot of *bling* and burberry - they are the Colleen and Wayne Rooney version of Victoria and David Beckham - ie no class.  They generally live in/come from Essex but have now spread all over England  Angry
