THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Normally I wouldn't turn to forums with silly questions, however, I'm a bit lost.
I've searched and searched and searched but I am unable to locate the hack that is causing pranks that are influenced to kill other sims.

Example:

The "Gun" electrocutes the other sim resulting in a pile of ashes and an unlinked character file.

It's funny to me (in a twisted sort of way) but I'd really like to know where it's coming from since I don't recall ever downloading a hack that performs this task.

Would anyone happen to know which hack might be causing this?

Did you get the gun hack from VS?  I forget who made it, but it sounds like that's what it is.

Hmm, I don't recall downloading hacks from there. Most everything I use is from here (it's easier to check for updates that way, not to mention, more awesome. Tongue)

I'd be able to find it if "Clean Installer" would show it as being a hack. I've also searched for file names that may be relevant and came up with nothing.

Thank you, Rainbow. I'll look over there and see.

*ahem* I mean, yeah, the only gun hack I've heard of was Vampcat's at VS.

lol, yeah that's about what I did the first time I saw it happen. But then I realized that it was one of my playable sims that just got fried (sorry, SirLance).

You could go over there and see what the name of the file is, then you'll know what to look for in your downloads.  That is, if you can get the site to load.

That is, of course, if
a) It came from there and
b) I can find it. Smiley

IIRC the gun hack from VS allowed you to 'kill' a sim, but I believe once that happened the sim appeared elsewhere on the lot...unhurt and certainly not truly dead.

That looks pretty cool. I haven't downloaded the VS gun because I really don't believe in having that kind of violence in my game (I like to torture sims, but having sims kill each other with guns feels icky to me). But this thing, despite being deadly, is something I would use.

I've actually wanted, for a while now, for someone to hack the joy buzzer in the game so it could accidentally electrocute a sim (small % chance). But maybe not actually kill, since that would be unrealistic for a prank item.

Anyway, I hope you find it, and if you do, tell us!

Still haven't found it.  Undecided I'm thinking it must be an additional "feature" that is tied into another hack.

In the meantine...poor Torkle got taken out by Database and Faemidwife:

Ha!

Sorry, it is funny.  Especially in that picture, Database is so blase and appears to be half-heartedly blocking Faemidwife, who looks almost gleeful.

It wouldn't have been from the official site, by any chance, would it? Sounds as twisted as their "run with scissors" game.  Cheesy

Heh, that zapping thing is pretty funny-looking. I was talking about making a phaser a while back, but the animations didn't look quite right for brandishing a deadly weapon, and I prefer quality work rather than something cute slapped in a way which just isn't quite right.

Well, it seems my game has gone from innocent sims to murder mystery. Tongue

JM: Do you think there is a text string that I could possibly search for within my packages to help locate this?

I believe I have found it. I have the DMA "Misc" workers set and within one of the packages there appears to be all of the necessary code to create this action.

Oh, that kind of makes sense- the misc workers are supposed to contain a hitman- I was looking at his site the other day.

I think it sounds like a neat side effect, and maybe a way to shred the sims character file from in game?

But do they go around killing each other autonomously?

Oh, that must be the new NL Miscellaneous Set.  http://valdea.com/?page=4

Quote
Hitmen are NPCs included in new service for permanent erase of unwanted sim. Price for this service is §50,000! When you order service (using phone/Service/Hitman Service), one of 4 hitmen (randomly chosen) will come to your house (or com. lot) and after short period targeted sim will be eliminated. Warning: you can't stop hitman after you confirm order. DMA NPCs, current family members and NPCs at work can't be targeted. If you want to eliminate some of them - you must call him on social visit.

Yes, however there is no mention of sims being able to kill each other. It's supposed to be the exclusive task of the hitman/woman.
I'm guessing this is a side effect brought on by a conflict between two packages.

They posted an update that I'll try after a neighbourhood backup. I don't need any more unlinked sims in my hood, especially sims who are/were playable.
