THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Hi folks,

Just wanted to let you know that as of now Jen and I have free floors and paintings available at our site: http://www.theliteratesim.com/. We plan to offer more freebies in the future.

We hope you enjoy these, as we enjoy all of the wonderful items available here on MATY!

I love your site but I am annoyed that the set of floors I downloaded are in sims2pack form, Could you please upload package files?

SimsBaby, all Homecrafter stuff (walls/floors/groundcovers) are in .Sims2pack form. Just open your Downloads folder, install the file, and watch for the file to appear at the bottom.

Not all homecrafter items, some sites have the files in package form.

It is possible (and polite) for the creator to unpack the files for us and offer just the package files.
I hate downloading 20 floors and find that they all come in individual sim2packs.

Three clicks, no matter how many sims2pack files you have.  Just move your house files somewhere else when you use this, or it will dump all that custom content out loose. Pain in the wazoo.

I'm sorry you're not happy with the Sims2Packs, but for one thing when you import something into the game they get totally meaningless names and frankly I have far too many downloads in both of my Windows accounts to try to sort through. And packaging allows me to add descriptions and a custom file name so it's easier for me and the downloader to see what the file actually is. And I've seen far far more sites offer floors and walls as Sims2Packs as downloads than .package files. Also, please keep in mind we do this for free, and in fact this site costs us money as we pay for hosting and are not asking for nor accepting donations of any kind.

MokeyHokey, thank you so much for that link! I'm going to have to check that out Grin

You don't have to keep the original package name, the game won't care if you change it, and how hard would it be to include a simple readme file?  That way you could use a program like WinRAR to compress them into smaller files.

As for your millions of downloads to sort through, I always keep mine in separate folders according to where I got it and who created it. The downloads folder alows you to use subfolders you know...

Edit: btw, this was meant as suggestion, rather than criticism

Yes, I'm aware of that. I don't have unlimited time to spend on this stuff, though, and you don't have to download it.

Thanks for the link, and sorry so many people seem to feel you should spend all your time doing stuff for them for free.  Angry  I appreciate every free Sim site, and if I have to spend a bit more time with the downloads, well then, that's my choice if I want to download them.

Thanks again.  Smiley

Thanks Blue Smiley Good to know someone appreciates the hours of work those floors already took. Not to mention C's lovely pictures, both extracted and original.

Oh really people.  What happened to not looking a gift house in the mouth.  Just use the multi sims2pack installer found here http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=37577 to extract the content of the package files.  It works just like winzip does on zip files, but it doesn't create a bunch of garbage file names like the sims installer does..

Thank you Simliterati for offering this to the sims community!!  It's appreciated.  IF it wasn't for people like you we would be all stuck with Maxis content .... UGH!

Hmm well it is Maxis content but you know what I mean!

PS.  I love your victorian sidings and wallpaper.  Nice stuff !

Well, as I said before, I can't use those programs because I am using a macintosh and I don't like opening 150 files by hand.

lol! Sandilou, let it be known we love you. Cheesy

And it was 56 files, not 150.

Clearly anyone with baby in their screen name cries like one.

Jen and Simliterati, I really can't see what the fuss was, the freebies I downloaded were ready to either copy or move straight into the download folder.

Also, lazy me puts all instant packages into one folder, selects all, then clicks install.  The Sims2 Installer comes up as normal and the whole lot get done at once.

I guess someone just wanted a big whinge.

There was a time when people didn't look gift horses in the mouth. But those people were all killed by angry Grecians. Since then, gift horses have always been carefully inspected.

That was obviously a typo, since that's the TRADITIONAL expression. Also, "houses" don't have mouths.
