Just a heads-up to say bunk beds (along with instructions for making them) and glass floors/ceilings that let in light like windows are available from simlogical.

Thank goodness for bunk beds. I'm starting out my caste 'hood in the downtown area I designed, but the homes there are narrow, tiny little things (some only 5 tiles wide) and my progenitor family has four daughters to be the founders of the four castes. I have no room for one of the kids unless I put her on the roof.

What exactly is this "Late Night wall deco technique"?

I saw the glass floors before.

Moving wall objects up and down to position them at different heights, like on TS2 Apartment Life.  The bunk beds are modded to work like wall objects and shift position up and down so they can "stack".

Yes, but what is the command used? No one has seemed to ever list it and the TS2 ones don't work.

The little manual that came with LN says "To adjust the height, grab the art with your mouse and move up and down the wall until you find just the right spot."

Otherwise, I haven't seen much else about how to do it.

Yep, just grab the object. You may have to wait a moment but the cursor will change to a different hand and you will see up and down arrows that indicate that you can then move the object up or down.

Not everything works. I wish they allowed the stupid skill certificates to move up and down...but no such luck.

I'm trying to figure out why there's a top AND a bottom bunk as separate objects.  Can't we just place the one marked top bunk, move it up and place another top bunk underneath it on the ground?  Or is there really a difference, and Sims won't use them if they aren't correctly placed?

A mirrored ceiling would be interesting.

Just did some experimenting as I hadn't used the feature before, but after grabbing it and placing against the wall, I found if you're not already holding the left mouse button, clicking and holding it will give you the up and down arrows allowing you to slide it.

Now we just need to be able to stack those skill certificates on the wall.

The only reason they are seperate objects is I shortened the legs and posts of the top one, as it just looked more sensible.

I've done the mirror ceiling now.  Same thread as the mirror floor.

Isn't that going to cause vidcard meltdown as it tries to resolve infinite reflection issues between two parallel mirrors?

I'm pretty sure that there are safeguards for infinite recursion like that. Plus, real mirrors aren't 100% reflective, which is why this does't happen in real life.

Top floor of the Chinese Dojo has mirrors on opposite walls.  The first mirror reflects the second mirror, and if you have a sim standing in front of the reflected mirror, you can see that sim in the  reflected reflection - but the first mirror reflects as a non-reflective surface in that double reflection.  I noticed this on the last vacation I made my sims take.  So I assume that having mirrored floors and ceilings would do the same thing.

I hope that made sense.  Reading my own text, I think I made it more confusing than it is.

You're saying you can only see two reflections deep, yes?

Oh, and as for moving items up and down on a wall, the ; and # keys work for me. I don't need to press Alt, just those keys on their own is fine.

ALT isn't mandatory but when you use it it'll give you more precision. Perfect with shiftable OMSP, otherwise you'll have items hovering slightly above or below a shelf/table/whatever.
