Does the game change motive decay speeds based on age?
« on: 2010 August 06, 23:54:02 »
THANKS THIS IS GREAT

In The Sims 2, Elders got tired faster and had to pee a lot. It took forever for kids to get tired. etc.

I can't find anything in the gameplay files about this, so I am wondering if it even happens anymore. I haven't noticed a clear difference between aging motive decays.

If it does exist, I'd like to tweak it.

Yes, it's in motives.xml, but the results are far less pronounced than TS2. And less baffling. In TS2, kids practically never had to pee, and 12s were the most likely to pee themselves outside of elders. Very weird, really.

Yeah, that's why I want to tweak it. I kinda like it to be more obvious. I want my elders having to pee constantly and I want my kids awake pretty much all day. As it stands I don't notice a difference between the ages.

Well, DUH.  They weren't peeing constantly.  What fun is that?  Tongue

Probably because TS3 is trying to move gameplay away from pee. Also, kids weren't awake all day in TS2, either. They tended to die really early.

There are still elders in the neighborhood, and my babysitters are elders.

I probably changed it in TS2, then. I figure kids should be full of energy and able to explore half the night, teens should be hanging out all night and snacking a lot and easily bored, adults should get tired easily and bored more slowly, etc. More fun that way.
